  7. Other or unspecified, Sep 18, 2026

The rear view camera display has intermittently not worked for over 2+ years. It appears blank or distorted and says contact your dealer. This happens about 80% of the time. I originally contacted the dealer about 18 mos ago, when this started happening and they said "they'd never heard of it" and in Oct. 2025 received a recall notice. The recall notice from Ford is Safety Recall Notice 25SA9/NHTSA Recall 25V695. I have called multiple times to the dealer to get this repaired as it's a safety issue! I called again today, Sept. 18th, and they said the parts are not available for the 2015 Ford Explorer, only other Fords listed on the recall. This needs to be addressed ASAP and parts made available. There are multiple safety issues on the 2015 Ford Explorer sport that are safety concerns, and Ford never addresses them in a timely manner.

  8. Seat belts, Sep 18, 2026

I have reported this multiple times here and to Ford. The 2015 Ford explorer sport bucket seats in the back seat have defective seat belts. They do not release properly and in fact 1 of the 2 I had a child get STUCK in the seatbelt. I have been told by Ford dealer, and an outside service center, and I've looked it up as well online that over 200ppl have complained of this issue. SEATBELTs that are LOCKED/DO NOT RELEASE is a huge safety issue!Yes this problem has been confirmed by Ford and an independent service center. No warnings occurred when this happened. This first appeared over 4 years ago and FORD has done NOTHING to address it!

  11. Electrical system, Sep 15, 2026

My 2015 Ford Explorer is subject to an open rearview camera safety recall (Ford recall 25SA9 / NHTSA recall 25V695), and the recalled rearview camera has now failed. The camera is no longer functioning properly, leaving me without the rearview camera image when backing up. Despite the failure of the recalled component, I have been unable to have the vehicle repaired because Ford has not made the recall remedy/part available for my 2015 Explorer. I have been waiting for the recall repair for an extended period of time. This is an active safety issue, not simply a notice for a component that might fail in the future. The recalled component in my vehicle has already failed, yet I am still being required to operate the vehicle without the safety feature because the manufacturer has not made the recall repair available. I am especially concerned about the risk when backing out of driveways and parking spaces where pedestrians or children may be behind the vehicle. I am requesting that NHTSA review Ford’s continued delay in providing a remedy for affected 2015 Explorer owners whose recalled cameras have already failed.

  17. Electrical system, Other or unspecified, Sep 6, 2026

The analog rearview backup camera module failed. The physical component is still installed in the vehicle and is available for inspection upon request. The driver is left completely blind to pedestrians, small children, and obstacles behind the vehicle when backing up. The driver is forced to repeatedly stop the vehicle in active traffic lanes to wait for the black screen to reset, creating an immediate risk of rear-end collisions. Yes. The failure was confirmed by a certified Ford dealership service department, which provided an estimate for a replacement camera module but failed to perform the physical repair. The vehicle was brought to a certified Ford dealership for inspection, but the service department turned the vehicle away, claiming the safety recall remedy was unavailable and refusing to log the inspection or create an official service record. There were no warning lamps or dashboard messages. The symptoms began in 2021/2022 with intermittent screen distortion and blue screens, which eventually degraded into a permanent, total black screen failure while shifted into reverse.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was determined that the exterior A-pillar trim needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

NHTSA Safety Complaint — Ford Recall 25V695 / 25SA9 Rearview backup camera has stopped working, limiting rear visibility. Camera is still installed and available for inspection. I cannot clearly see behind my SUV when backing, increasing the risk of striking a person, vehicle, or object. Hardy Family Ford confirmed the defective camera. Repair was delayed because the recall part was unavailable. Ford Recall 25V695/25SA9 remains unrepaired; Hardy Family Ford canceled my recall appointment because the remedy part is unavailable, despite my reporting this camera failure in 2022. I have been waiting for years for an available part. Ford issued a safety recall involving a defective rearview camera but the remedy remains unavailable. I have already been waiting for years for repair of this camera problem. My recall repair appointment was canceled because the required part was unavailable. Ford has an available new genuine Ford camera that the dealership can obtain, but Ford will not authorize its use under the recall. The only option offered to me is to personally pay $818 and seek reimbursement later. Ford Customer Relations has declined to provide another solution. Ford Complaint Case # CXH-08931193-Y5Q3B6

The rear view camera is distorted/and or blank, and can potentially cause an accident. It is available for inspection upon request. By not being able to see correctly with the rear view camera, I am unable to tell which direction a car is coming from, if there are cars passing behind me, or at times I see no image at all, just a blank screen, which can severely impact one’s ability to drive safe and responsibly. The issue has been confirmed by the manufacturer. The vehicle has not yet been inspected by anyone. There was no warning prior to failure, and it seemed to first appear the day I purchased the used vehicle in November of 2025.

  25. Electrical system, Other or unspecified, Aug 10, 2026, crash

My camera failed and I backed into a very pole causing over $5,000 worth of damage and time I didn’t have to have it fixed. I had this fixed at the dealership I purchased the vehicle from. My exhaust always had a nasty smell to it which I addressed when I received the customer satisfaction program 17N03 notice about it and I have had it addressed many times throughout the years when I go to the dealership (where I purchased the vehicle) for maintenance and repairs. My son will not ride in my vehicle because the smell gives him a headache and makes him feel nauseous. I purchased a carbon monoxide detector to test the levels myself after I recently saw a family passed away in the same vehicle I have due to that. I will be doing this soon! It’s frustrating I had to pay for repairs on my vehicle because my camera malfunction and I backed into a pole. To this day it is still malfunctioning so when the parts are in, I will have it repaired. My main concern is the carbon monoxide levels and health risks. My vehicle only has 67,000 miles on it, it shouldn’t have so many recalls and problems that cause major safety risks like it has.
