WE PURCHASED A NEW 2016 FORD EXPLORER SPORT 4WD 4DR IN 2016. THE OE TIRES ON THE VEHICLE WERE 4 HANCOOK VENTUS S1 NOBEL 2 TIRES, SIZED 255/50R20. THE DOT RATING IS "5MNC 1A H". AT 13,369 MILES ALL 4 TIRES WERE REPLACE UNDER "WARRANTY". THE FRONT TIRE TREADS WERE "FLACKING/PEELING" . THE WORK WAS DONE BY MATHEWS-CURRIE FORD, 130 TAMIAMI TRIAL NORTH, NOKOMIS FL 34275, ON 5/10/17, RO # 6199123/1. OUR COST FOR THE TIRES WAS $419.62. WE WERE FORCED BY HANCOOK TO REPLACE "LIKE WITH LIKE". AT 23,101 MILES I TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE SAME DEALER TO HAVE THE OIL CHANGED. THE REPLACEMENT TIRES ARE AGAIN "FLACKING/PEELING." THE DEALER TELLS ME THAT WE WILL HAVE TO REPLACE THEM WITH THE SAME TIRES. THEY ALSO TELL ME THAT THIS A REOCCURRING PROBLEM WITH THIS BRAND OF TIRES. MY BACKGROUND IS THAT OF AN EXECUTIVE IN THE OE AND AFTERMARKET AUTOMOTIVE AND HEAVY TRUCK INDUSTRY. MY EMPLOYERS MANUFACTURED FOUNDATION BRAKES, BRAKE CHAMBERS AND RIDE CONTROL. I KNOW AN UNSAFE SITUATION WHEN I SEE ONE AND THIS ONE IS NOT SAFE. I WAS INVOLVED IN A MAJOR SAFETY RECALL ON RIDE CONTROL AND KNOW WHAT IT CAN COST A COMPANY TO NOT RECOGNIZE WHAT THEIR POTENTIAL LIABILITY CAN BE. I AM NOT COMFORTABLE FOR THE SAFETY OF MYSELF AND MY FAMILY WITH HANCOOK TIRES. MY REQUEST IS THAT SOMEONE FROM YOUR LEGAL STAFF CONTACT FORD'S LEGAL DEPARTMENT AND WARN THEM ABOUT THE FUTURE LIABILITY BEING CREATED FOR THEM BY ONE OF THEIR SUPPLIERS.

STEERING/RACK: PROBLEM BEGAN WITH AN INTERMITTENT NOISE (CLUNK) IN THE FRONT END OF VEHICLE. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP WHILE UNDER FULL WARRANTY. THEY FAILED TO DOCUMENT MY CONCERN. NOISE BECAME MORE FREQUENT AND TURNED INTO MORE OF A GRINDING SOUND WHILE STEERING WHILE THE VEHICLE IS STOPPED OR MOVING SLOWLY. HAD PROBLEM LOOKED AT BY MECHANIC DOING OIL CHANGE WHO SENT ME BACK TO DEALERSHIP STATING I NEEDED A NEW RACK (STEERING PART). AT THIS POINT, MY VEHICLE HAD SURPASSED THE 36,000 MILE WARRANTY. DURING THIS TIME WHILE DEBATING WITH DEALERSHIP IF PART SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY DUE TO THEIR FAILURE TO DOCUMENT MY INITIAL VISIT, THE STEERING WHILE DRIVING AT SLOW AND HIGHWAY SPEEDS HAS BECOME "DARTY" OR "JERKY" AND DOES FEEL SAFE TO DRIVE. MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN WELL MAINTAINED AND HAS UNDER 50,000 MILES. VEHICLE IS UNSAFE AND TO DATE BOTH FORD AND DEALERSHIP HAS FAILED TO TAKE CARE OF THIS ISSUE. COST QUOTED FOR REPAIR IS $2100. SERVICE DEPT AT LOCAL DEALERSHIP IS INCOMPETENT, FAILED TO ADMIT FAULT IN LACK OF DOCUMENTATION, AND FAILED TO BACK UP THE PRODUCT, ADDRESS SAFETY CONCERNS.

STRONG EXHAUST SMELL LEAKING INTO THE CABIN.
Steering, Suspension, Wheels, Feb 26, 2018
2016 FOR EXPLORER SPORT - PURCHASED BRAND NEW. VEHICLE HAS 15K MILES NOW AND I AM HEARING A LOUD POPPING / CREAKING SOUND THAT OCCURS WHEN TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL EITHER LEFT OR RIGHT WHEN THE CAR IS IN MOTION. IT'S MOST NOTICEABLE AT A SLOWER RATE OF SPEED WHEN TURNING INTO A PARKING SPACE OR TURNING FROM A COMPLETE STOP. TODAY, ON 3 SEPARATE OCCASIONS, WHEN TURNING LEFT THE STEERING LOCKED UP AND I HAD TO JERK THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE RIGHT IN ORDER TO GET THE VEHICLE TO GO STRAIGHT AGAIN. EACH TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED THERE IS ANOTHER LOUD POP SOUND THAT CAN BE HEARD. THIS IS A MAJOR COMPLAINT ACROSS THE BOARD WITH 2014 - 2016 EXPLORERS ALONG WITH THE WHEEL BEARING, SUSPENSION AND LOSS OF POWER COMPLAINTS.

I HAVE NOTICED THERES A BURNING SMELLING FROM HEATER/AC VENTS RIGHT AFTER ACCELERATION FROM VEHICLE BEING STOPPED. I CAN CONFIRM ITS A BURNING SMELL (SIMILAR TO BURNING PLASTIC OR RUBBER). WHEN THE SMELL IS PRESENT, IT FEELS LIKE THERES LACK OF ACCELERATION FROM THE GAS PEDAL. ALMOST LIKE IF THERES A CLOGGED AIR FILTER OR ISSUE WITH TRANSMISSION OR EXHAUST. IT FEELS LIKE THAT KIND OF POOR ACCELERATION ISSUE. THE BURNING SMELLS LAST FOR ABOUT 1-2 MINUTES AND I'M NOT SURE WHERE ITS COMING FROM. THE ODOR IS A VERY STRONG ODOR AND I'M WAITING FOR A FIRE TO BREAK OUT SOMEWHERE WHEN THIS ODOR IS PRESENT. I HAVE A SERVICE APPT ON MONDAY, FEB 26 AND HOPEFULLY SOMETHING WILL BE FOUND. THE LAST THING I WANT IS TO BE DRIVING AND THE VEHICLE BREAKS DOWN, LET ALONE CATCHES FIRE FOR SOME REASON.

WHEN I FIRST PURCHASE THIS VEHICLE I COULD SMELL SOMETHING FUNNY WHEN DRIVING IT KIND OF LIKE AN OLD FILTER THAT NEEDED REPLACEMENT OR MILD GAS LIKE SMELL. I CALLED THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THE CAR I PURCHASED HASN'T BEEN USED FOR TOO LONG AND IT'S NORMAL TO EXPERIENCE THAT THE FIRST FEW WEEKS/MONTHS... SO I WENT THROUGH N AND PURCHASED A CAR AIRFRESHNER TO CAMOUFLAGE THE SMELL COMING OUT THE EXHAUST HEAT/AC FAN. IT WORKED A LITTLE BUT I WAS RUNNING OUT OF IT QUICKLY AND IF I DIDN'T CHANGED IT RIGHT AWAY THEN THE SMELL WILL COME BACK...I WILL AS T DRIVING IT MUCH WHEN I FIRST BOUGHT IT CAUSE I WAS STAY AT HOME MOM. I STARTED FEELING SICK WHEN I GOT A FULL TIME JOB BACK IN NOVEMBER AS I WAS DRIVING THE CAR FOR WORK (60MILES+ /DAY). I TOLD MY HUSBAND I WAS FEELING LIGHTHEADED, DIZZY AND LONG LASTING HEADACHES, HE SAID IT LIGHT BE FROM THE. NEW JOB AND I NEEDED TO AJUST BUT WHEN I HEARD ABOUT THE ISSUE GOING ON WITH FORD SUV'S I REALIZED THAT IT'S DEFINITELY MY CAR WHO'S MAKING ME SICK! IT ALSO EXPLAINS THE SMELL INSIDE THE VEHICLE,...WHEN I TOLD MY HUSBAND HE HAD A GOOD LAUGH AT ME EVEN THOUGH I PULLED THE NEWS REPORT FOR HIM, SO WE SWITCHED CARS FOR FEW WEEKS AND HE STARTED EXPERIENCING THE SAME SYMPTOMS WHILE DRIVING MY FORD. WE TALKED TO OUR FORD SERVICE DEPARTMENT BUT THEY DENIED ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR

WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE IN HEAVY TRAFFIC ON A CITY STREET I LOST POWER. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO GEAR. WHEN I PARKED THE VEHICLE IT WOULD NOT GO IN REVERSE. I HAD TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL AND GET PUSHED OUT OF THE PARKING LOT. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO GEAR TO DRIVE HOME. THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE SECOND TIME THIS HAPPENED I WAS ON A 600+ MILE TRIP OUT OF STATE. I WAS DRIVING AT HIGH SPEED ON THE INTERSTATE. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A DEALERSHIP WHEN I REACHED MY DESTINATION. THERE SERVICE DEPARTMENT COULD NOT FIT ME IN T LOOK AT IT. I DROVE THE VEHICLE DIRECTLY TO THE DEALERSHIP WHEN I RETURNED HOME. THE THIRD AND FOURTH TIME I WAS 150 MILES FROM HOME. I WAS DRIVING IN HEAVY TRAFFIC ON A 4 LANE HIGHWAY. THE ISSUE ALSO HAPPENED WHEN THE CAR WAS STATIONARY SITTING AT A STOP LIGHT THEN ATTEMPTED TO PROCEED INTO TRAFFIC. I HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE 4 TIMES WITHOUT THE "NONCONFORMITY" BEING RESOLVED. I HAVE TAKEN IT INTO THE DEALER 3 TIMES FOR SERVICE. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN OUT OF SERVICE GREATER THAN 15 DAYS. CARFAX INDICATE THE ELECTRIC THROTTLE BODY WAS REPAIRED A MONTH BEFORE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. THAT INFORMATION WAS NOT DISCLOSED TO ME AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE BY THE DEALERSHIP.

I NORMALLY WORK OUT AT THE GYM 4 OR 5 DAYS A WEEK BUT GOT TO THE POINT THAT I WAS COUGHING TO MUCH TO EXERCISE. MT BLOOD PRESSURE WENT UP AS WELL AS MY BLOOD SUGAR LEVELS. I PUT MY EXPLORER IN FOR SERVICE TWICE BECAUSE OF THE SMELL. THE SMELL WAS STRONGEST WHEN I WAS DRIVING (ABOUT ONE HOUR TO AND FROM WORK) WITH THE HEAT ON. I HAVE A 2015 TAURUS SHO WITH 20,550 MILES (MICHELIN TIRES) AND THE TREAD IS IN PERFECT CONDITION. SERVER DEALER CHECKED WEAR, WEAR IS EVEN ON ALL 4 TIRES. TIRE MANUFACTURER CLAIMS 50,000 MILE WARRANTY; HOWEVER, SERVICE DEALER STATED THAT ISN'T TRUE. ON 2/7/18 AT 09:00, I NEARLY WENT OFF OF THE ROAD ON W/APPROXIMATELY 1-2 INCHES OF SNOW ON THE ROAD (PACKED DOWN). AT 09:05, I SLID FOR MORE THAN 500 FEET INTO AN INTERSECTION (NO ICE PRESENT) INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. HAD ONCOMING TRAFFIC NOT STOPPED AND MY VEHICLE FINALLY TURNING 90 DEGREES, I WOULD'VE BEEN T-BONED IN A BAD ACCIDENT. MY WIFE HAS BEEN COMPLAINING ABOUT THE SAFETY OF THESE TIRES, WELL I EXPERIENCED IT FIRST HAND. ALL OF THIS HAPPENED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PUT INTO 4X4 (SNOW/SAND) MODE TRAVELING NO MORE THAN 35-40 MPH ON A 55 MPH ROAD. DUE TO THESE PATHETIC TIRES, WE ARE UNABLE TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE SAFELY WHEN THE ROADS ARE SNOW COVERED. MY 2015 TAURUS SHO W/MICHELIN TIRES AND 20,550 MILES EXPERIENCES NONE OF THESE ISSUES IN THE SNOW. THE SERVICE DEALER CLAIMS THESE ARE PERFORMANCE TIRES; HOWEVER, THAT IS NOT THE CASE. REVIEWS ALL OF THE INTERNET ARE CONSISTENT IN THAT HANKOOK TIRES (OPTIMUM AND VENTUS S1 NOBLE 2 SERIES) DO NOT LAST MORE THAN 25,000 MILES (COMPARED TO THE MANUFACTURER'S 50,000 MILE RATING. EXHAUST FUMES INSIDE VEHICLE THERE IS A SMELL OF EXHAUST FUMES INSIDE OUR 2016 FORD EXPLORER WHEN THE ENGINE IS RUNNING. WE PURCHASED THIS 'NEW' IN JULY 2016 AND NOTICED IT RIGHT AWAY - IF YOU DON'T OPEN THE WINDOWS AND AIR OUT THE VEHICLE, THE FUMES CAUSE PASSENGERS TO EXPERIENCE NAUSEA AND HEADACHE - IT IS MOST NOTICEABLE ON ACCELERATION BUT SOMETIMES IT JUST OCCURS OUT OF NOWHERE. IT THEN BECOMES ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY TO OPEN THE WINDOWS AND GET OXYGEN / OUTSIDE AIR INSIDE THE VEHICLE - IT'S ALMOST AUTOMATIC FOR US TO DO THIS ANYMORE - START THE CAR, ACCELERATE, OPEN THE WINDOWS, AIR IT OUT, CLOSE THE WINDOWS. THIS VEHICLE'S USUAL OCCUPANTS ARE A DRIVER AND FRONT SEAT PASSENGER, HOWEVER, SECOND AND THIRD ROW SEAT PASSENGERS WHO HAVE BEEN IN THE VEHICLE HAVE EXPERIENCED AND REPORTED THE SAME ISSUES, E.G., NAUSEA AND HEADACHE. THE VEHICLE NOW HAS 26K MILES.

I REPORTED THIS EARLIER TODAY, BUT WANTED TO ADD TO HERE THAT I TALKED TO A REPRESENTATIVE TO FORD AND TOLD HIM THAT THE CAR WAS LEAKING EXHAUST INTO THE CAB OF THE CAR. HE ADVISED ME TO "DRIVE IT" TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP ABOUT 20-30 MINUTES AWAY. I ASKED IF HE WAS WILLING TO PUT HIS CHILD IN THIS CAR AS THIS IS WHAT HE IS ADVISING ME TO DO. HE SAID HE WOULD NOT. PLEASE USE THIS INFORMATION AS YOU CAN AS FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE IS NOW PUTTING PEOPLE IN AND OUTSIDE OF THE CAR IN SERIOUS DANGER BY ADVISING THEM TO DRIVE VEHICLES THAT ARE OBVIOUSLY NOT ROAD WORTHY. DISGUSTING A COMPANY IS ALLOWED THIS... THANKS
