  6. Seats, front assembly, reclinerAug 28, 2019

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2018-2020 F-150 and 2019-2020 F-250, F-350, F-450, and F-550 Super Duty pickup trucks, and 2018-2019 Ford Explorer, 2019-2020 Expedition, and 2020 Escape vehicles equipped with driver and/or passenger's manual front seat back recliner mechanisms. Also included are certain 2020 Ford Explorer and Lincoln Aviator vehicles equipped with rear outboard seats and manual seat back recliner mechanisms. The recliner mechanisms may be missing the third pawl required for seat back strength, resulting in a loose seat back. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) numbers 202, "Head Restraints" and 207, "Seating Systems."

A seat back with an improperly assembled recliner mechanism may have reduced strength and may not adequately restrain an occupant in a crash, increasing the risk of injury.

  1. Structure, Jul 16, 2025

The contact owns a 2019 Ford Explorer. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V031000 (STRUCTURE); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted, and it was confirmed that the part was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. 2. Fuel/propulsion system, Jul 14, 2025

Car would not start at certain times without warning. Sometimes putting us in an unsafe location. Finally vehicle was in a public parking and would not start and had to be towed to Ford dealer. The fuel pump and some other issues failed. Repair shop said it would happen with low gas, but we had over a half a tank. Total cost of bill without tow was $2132.02. Vehicle had 45,015 miles.

  3. Fuel/propulsion system, Jul 11, 2025

On 3 separate occasions my car has stalled when driving. All three were after driving for several hours in hot weather. 2 of the times I had a quarter of a tank of gas and pressed on the gas to pass someone and my car stalled out immediately after. Both very dangerous scenarios. 3 time just this week. Driving for over 5 hours in hot weather conditions, but 3 quarters of a tank of gas and stuck in traffic and the car just completely stalled. Again a dangerous scenario on the highway. All three times after waiting for about 45 minutes the car will start again. Sluggish at first and then drives normal. It’s giving indications that it could be a defect in the low pressure fuel pump that has been a recall in other 2019 ford explorers, but my vin #is not listed as one of them.

The A-PILLAR TRIM has flew off on the freeway on 4 separate occasions. 3 different times I paid out of pocket to have it repaired, not knowing this was a manufacture defect. Ford keeps saying that they do not have the parts to repair it.

  10. Power train, Jun 23, 2025

[XXX] [XXX] [XXX] ⸻ To Whom It May Concern, My name [XXX], and I am writing to file a formal complaint against Ford Motor Company and multiple associated dealerships for gross negligence, financial harm, and discriminatory practices related to a recall repair that began in 2023 and has yet to be properly resolved. I own a 2019 Ford Explorer, VIN [XXX]. In 2023, I brought my vehicle to Wayne Akers Ford in West Palm Beach due to a torque converter recall. Before the issue was fixed, their transmission technician was fired, and I was redirected to Mullinax Ford. That began a two-year ordeal of being passed around between dealerships, misdiagnosed, and ignored while the original issue persisted. Alpaca Ford on 10th Avenue witnessed the malfunction twice but refused to repair it. I was told by Lenny, the Service Manager, and the Advisor Manager to “monitor the mileage” and report back — a delay tactic that eventually allowed them to deny my repair once the issue persisted at under 30 miles. When I returned with proof, they claimed the warranty had expired. This was caused entirely by their inaction and misguidance. To make matters worse: •I was forced to pay $1,300 for motor mounts that didn’t resolve the issue, despite telling them repeatedly it was unrelated. Ford covered a portion, but I was left to pay $897 out of pocket. •Tim Olsen at Wayne Akers Ford has refused to provide my refund and is now ignoring all calls and communication. •Ford’s corporate customer service has been involved from the beginning and failed to intervene effectively — despite acknowledging the situation. •I recently left a Google review describing my experience at Mullinax Ford, including my repeated denial of loaner vehicles while white customers were offered them freely. After posting the review, I was retaliated against — they refused to continue working on my car and told me to “come pick it up” without completing r INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

  11. Structure, Other or unspecified, Jun 14, 2025

In February I was driving to an appt. when the side panel on driver's door broke & started flying around & hitting car. (It has the numbers to enter the car without a key.) So I had to roll down window 1/2 way, grab the broken part & drive 18 miles to town, holding the part so it wouldn't fly off (in 30 degree weather!) So I drove by the Ford Dealership where I got my car. They thought there was a recall on that item so I've been waiting. I just saw on the NHTSA site there was a recall for that item on 2016-17? Explorers, but mine is 2019!!! Would you please add the 2019 model to that recall? Also, I'm STILL WAITING (1 1/2 years later) for the recalled trim pieces around the front windshield.

  12. Engine, Jun 13, 2025

The contact owns a 2019 Ford Explorer. The contact stated that upon start-up there was an abnormally loud rattling sound coming from the engine compartment, with the check engine warning light illuminated. The cause of the failure has not yet been determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 97,000.

  13. Service brakes, Hydraulic, Jun 10, 2025

The contact owns a 2019 Ford Explorer. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the brake pedal became inoperable. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the brake pedal failed to function properly, and the contact had to depress the brake pedal with added force to stop the vehicle. The contact also stated there was an abnormal sound while depressing the brake pedal. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the rear brake pads and rotors had failed, and the braking system needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was opened. The contact was also referred to the NHTSA Hotline for additional assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 36,000.

Difficulty getting the vehicle repaired in a reasonable time or without charge. Initial recall indicated parts would be available in the latter half of 2024. It is now mid 2025. Ford dealership indicates parts are not available for recall, BUT parts ARE available if I'd like to pay out of pocket for repairs. That seems fraudulent and the A-pillar trim on my vehicle is obviously defective and coming off the vehicle. This is hazardous and Ford should not be able to charge for repairs and not comply with the recall repairs.

The windshield lower molding is deteriorating. The molding has cracked and fallen off in several places. This has been happening over the last 6 months but has gotten much worse. It also makes a buzzing vibration over 50mph. I'm afraid that if it gets any worse the windshield may pop out in an accident. Unknown Unknown No warning

The A-pillar trim on the driver's side around windshield is coming off, and poses a risk to other drivers if it flys off while driving down the road. A recall on Ford Explorers of the same year is already issued, does not include the Police utility of same year.

Water is entering the rear liftgate which fills up during a rain event. This can potentially create problems with the electrical components mounted inside of the liftgate. i.e. Power door release, Rear defog, third bake light, window wiper, rear tail lights. These could short out or maybe cause a fire. It is already causing premature corrosion at the lowest end seam of the panel as the paint it now bubbling and beginning to seperate from the surface. This could also create a structural integrity issue with the liftgate. The rear glass is stationary. Not designed to open. Maybe this is a similar adhesion issue that the 2016 Transit connect had with the windshield which was recentlyn recalled for improper adhesion process/defect aloowing water to enter into the cabin.
