TRANSMISSION GEARS ARE ROUGH, SLIPPING, JERKS A LITTLE AND TRANSMISSION OVERHEATS AND CAN'T DRIVE. LOOSES POWER WHEN DRIVING. THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS VEHICLE BUT I WAS TOLD ONLY THE CARS THAT IN A MANUFACTURED AREA OR A GROUP ARE IN RECALL. MAKES NO SENSE BECAUSE WE HAVE THE EXACT SAME CAR THAT IS BEING RECALLED AND WE WEREN'T IN THAT GROUP OR MANUFACTURED AREA SO OUR VEHICLE WON'T BE REPAIRED. SOMETHING IS SERIOUSLY WRONG WITH THIS WHOLE ISSUE. IT'S THE SAME PROBLEM AS THE ONES IN GROUP THAT ARE BEING RECALLED. WHY ISN'T OUR CAR BEING RECALLED, IT'S A SAFETY ISSUE ALSO... THIS SEAMS VERY WRONG. OUR CAR IS ONLY TWO YEARS OLD AND WE DON'T HAVE THAT KIND OF MONEY TO FIX ON OUR OWN...

2017 FORD FOCUS TITANIUM. DALLAS, TX. ENGINE MISSES WHEN ACCELERATING. WHILE DRIVING DOWN A 2 LANE FARM TO MARKET ROAD WHICH I DRIVE TWICE A DAY AT THE LEAST- THE CAR STARTED SLOWING DOWN AND IT WAS AS IF THE GAS PEDAL WASN'T WORKING. AND OF COURSE THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. TOOK IT TO GET ELECTRONICALLY DIAGNOSED AND IT IS A VALVE FOR THE GAS. I HAVEN'T RECEIVED ANY RECALL NOTICES VIA MAIL. I NEED THIS TAKEN CARE OF BEFORE TIME FOR THE INSPECTION IN A MONTH. HOW DO I GO ABOUT SEEING IF THIS IS IN FACT A RECALL AND GET IT FIXED ASAP??
Power train, Sep 17, 2019
I BOUGHT A BRAND NEW 2017 FORD FOCUS AND WITHIN A YEAR OF HAVING THE VEHICLE IT BEGAN TO SHUTTER WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOPPED POSITION. TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY SAID THERE WAS NOT A BIG ENOUGH PROBLEM TO FIX. A FEW MONTHS LATER IN ADDITION TO THE SPUTTERING WHILE TAKING OFF FROM BEING STOPPED THE TRANSMISSION NOW SHUTTERS WHEN I REACH SPEEDS OF 50-65. I KNOW I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS PROBLEM. FORD IS PUTTING OUT A GARBAGE PRODUCT AND REFUSING TO FIX THE PROBLEM.
Power train, Service brakes, Sep 13, 2019
PURCHASED 9/2018.CARE HAS BEEN SHAKING LIKES ITS GOING TO FALL APART EVER SINCE THEN. . I HAVE A MANUAL TRANSMISSION AND CAR GRUNTS WHEN PICKING UP SPEED LIKE I HAVE A CLUTCH SHIFT AND MAKES THIS SCRATCHING NOISE WHEN I SHIFT FROM PARK TO REVERSE. OR REVERSE TO DRIVE. ALSO WHEN I BARELY TAP THE BREAKS ITS STOP SO SUDDENLY THE JILT FORCES ME FORWARD.. TODAY 9/13/19 THE TRANSMISSION FAULT MESSAGE CAME ON. AND WENT OFF. THEN WHEN I START THE CAR BACK UP TO CHECK SYSTEMS.. THE MESSAGE SYSTEM SAYS ALL SYSTEMS NORMAL AND THE LIGHT DIDNT COME BACK ON AFTER DRIVING IT AROUND, SHIFT FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE, AND SHUTTING OF AND STARTING UP CAR 3 DIFFERENT TIMES.
Power train, Sep 4, 2019
WHEN STOPPED AT A STOP LIGHT THE VEHICLE HAS A JOLTING SIMILAR TO DROPPING THE CLUTCH IN A MANUAL TRANSMISSION. WHEN SHIFTING FROM 1-2 THERE IS A LOUD GRINDING (REALLY BAD) AND NOTICABLE SHIMMY IN THE VEHICLE ACCOMPANIED BY A LOSS OF POWER AND A SUDDEN JUMP WHEN THE CLUTCH CATCHES. THERE IS A COMMON LOSS OF POWER WHEN COMING FROM A STOP. THESE SYMPTOMS ARE EVEN MORE COMMON WHEN THE VEHICLE HAS WARMED UP AND DRIVEN FOR MORE THAN 10 MINUTES.

2017 FORD FOCUS SHUDDERS AND VIBRATES WHILE IN MOTION AND WHILE STATIONARY. VEHICLE ALSO HAS HESITATION AND SLOW RESPONSE WHEN ACCELERATING. VEHICLE IS CURRENT ON ALL RECALLED SERVICES HOWEVER THE ISSUE IS STILL PRESENT.

BETWEEN 0& 20MILES AND 20 & 40 MILES GOING FORWARD OR BACKWARDS MY CAR JERKS,STALL,VIBRATES AND MAKE METAL CAN SCRAPING SOUND. MY CAR IS THE THE 2017 FOCUS HAS A NEW DESIGN BUT THE SAME DUAL CLUTCH 'AUTOMATIC' TRANSMISSION SYSTEM AS PREVIOUS YEAR MODELS. ... HOWEVER, WHERE THE FOCUS IS MANUFACTURED DOES NOT EXCUSE THE FACT THAT FORD HAS KNOWN ABOUT THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEM FOR YEARS AND HAS CONTINUED TO IGNORE THE PROBLEM. THIS HAPPENS ONLY WHEN DRIVING.
Power train, Aug 21, 2019
TRANSMISSION SHUDDERS EFFECTING ACCELERATION AND MAKES GRINDING NOISES. SOMETIMES THE CAR WILL LURCH COWARD UPON ACCELERATION. I'VE HAD THE MANUAL TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY AND MANUAL TRANSMISSION CLUTCH PRESSURE PLATE REPLACED THREE TIMES. TRANSMISSION IS BEGINNING TO SHUDDER AGAIN. CONTACTED FORD AUGUST 15 AND THEY KEEP SAYING THAT SOMEONE WILL CALL WITHIN 24 HOURS. I'VE CONTACTED THEM DAILY AND THEY KEEP SAYING SOMEONE WILL CALL THE FOLLOWING DAY. SIX DAYS LATER AND STILL NO RESPONSE. KEEP GETTING THE SAME STORE THAT THEY UPDATED MY CASE NUMBER AND SOMEONE WILL CALL US WITHIN 24 HOURS.
Power train, Aug 14, 2019
TRANSMISSION SLIPS. AT TIME WHEN DRIVING, IT SLIPS AND THE RPM'S REV UP TO 5-6 AND THE CAR HAS NO POWER. IT LASTS FOR 3-4 SECONDS AND SOUNDS LIKE THE CAR IS IN NEUTRAL AND GAS PEDDLE PUSHED TO THE FLOOR. IT DOES THIS OFF AND ON EVERY TIME I DRIVE IT. STARTED AROUND THE 9,000 MILES MARK. MY CAR IS A 2017 FORD FOCUS WITH 11,800 MILES ON IT.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, TURNING, AND ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP, THE VEHICLE SHUDDERED. WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, IT TRAVELED TO THE FLOORBOARD AND FAILED TO RESPOND. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AUTONATION FORD (7200 BROAD ST, BROOKSVILLE, FL 34601, (352) 419-0810) AND LAKELAND FORD (1430 W MEMORIAL BLVD, LAKELAND, FL 33815, (863) 682-1100) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT A TRANSMISSION SHUDDER TEST WAS NEEDED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO THE LOCAL DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,000.*BF CONSUMER STATES THAT VEHICLE SHUDDERS AT TAKEOFF. MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED BUT TOLD CONSUMER THAT VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN RECALL. *DL

WHILE DRIVING THE CAR, 4 DAYS AFTER HAVING THE 2ND CLUTCH REPLACEMENT AT 30,000 MILES, IT WAS ON A STREET NOT HIGHWAY, THE CARS ELECTRONIC DASH DISPLAYED "TRANSMISSION FAULT FIX NOW". THE CAR THEN SLOWED DOWN A BIT LOSING POWER, THEN SEVERAL OTHER SIGNALS APPEARED ON SCREEN, BRAKES AND A FEW OTHERS, THEN THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN AND POWER WENT OUT. THE CAR WOULD NOT RESTART AFTER A FEW MINUTES, SO AAA CALLED TO TOW IT BACK TO DEALERSHIP. THIS HAPPENED SUNDAY JULY 28, 2019. MONDAY AFTERNOON, AFTER THEY HAD TIME TO LOOK AT VEHICLE, I RECEIVED A CALL TELLING ME THAT THE "ALTERNATOR " WAS FAULTY AND THEY WOULD GET BACK TO ME WHEN THEY HAD THE REPLACEMENT WHICH TURNED OUT TO BE THE NEXT DAY. THE ISSUE WITH THIS IS MY WIFE HAD BEEN 110 MILES AWAY AND HAD DROVE HOME SATURDAY JULY 27. IF THAT HAD LET GO WHILE SHE WAS TRAVELING THE 70 MPH SPEED LIMIT THERE COULD HAVE BEEN A FATAL ACCIDENT. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN AND OUT OF FORD DEALERSHIP 5-6 TIMES FOR SAFETY RELATED ISSUES
Power train, Jul 31, 2019
WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP, THE CAR OFTEN STRUGGLES TO GET UP TO SPEED. IT WILL ALSO SHUDDER AND SHAKE WHILE DOING THIS. INTERMITTENTLY SHIFTING INTO REVERSE WILL YIELD NO RESULTS AND I WILL HAVE TO PLACE THE CAR IN PARK, AND TRY AGAIN WHICH SOMETIMES FIXES THE ISSUE. CAR WILL ALSO LUNGE FORWARD FROM A STOP WITH VERY LITTLE ACCELERATOR PRESS AND OTHER TIMES WILL LAG AND HAVE LACK OF ACCELERATION DESPITE "FLOORING IT". WHILE TURNING AND ACCELERATING FROM A STOP, IT FEELS AS IF THE CAR CAN'T DECIDE WHAT GEAR TO BE IN AND WILL PROVIDE FAR MORE POWER THAN IS NECESSARY.
Power train, Jul 26, 2019
CAR SHUDDERS ANYTIME I EXCELERATE FROM A STOP. ALSO LOOSES POSER IN THE MIDDLE OF TAKING OFF FROM A COMPLETE STUP...THE SHUDDER IS TERRIBLE AND VERY CONCERNING. I ALREADY HAD THE TRANSMISSION FIXED AT 25000 MILE ..I AM AT 32000 AND ITS STARTING TO DO THE SAME PROBLEM...FORD NEEDS TO STEP UP ON THIS..WE NEED A CLASS ACTION SUIT ,LIKE THEY ARE DOING IN CANADA ON THIS PROBLEM WITH FORD MOTOR COMPANY CANADA.
Power train, Jul 26, 2019
CAR SHUDDERS VIOLENTLY WHEN SHIFTING FROM 1ST TO 2ND GEAR OFTEN LEADING TO CONTROL ISSUES. IT SOMETIMES CANT MAKE UP ITS MIND WHETHER IT WANTS TO DOWNSHIFT OR NOT SO IT MAKES IT HARD MERGING ONTO A HIGHWAY BECAUSE I CANT GET UP TO SPEED. WHEN IS FINALLY DOES DECIDE WHAT GEAR IT WANTS TO GO IN IT WILL JERK FORWARD EVEN IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC SO I HAVE TO CONSTANTLY SWITCH BETWEEN BRAKING AND GIVING IT GAS TO AVOID HITTING THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. THE CAR ONLY HAS 34000 MILES AND I BOUGHT IT NEW AND THE DEALERSHIP WON'T TAKE IT BACK. THIS CAR IS A SAFETY RISK AND AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN. TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY COULD RECREATE THE PROBLEM ACCORDING TO THEM.
Power train, Jul 25, 2019
TRANSMISSION SHUDDER. WHEN THE TRANSMISSION WARMS UP THE CAR SHUDDERS UPON ACCELERATION AND SHIFTING INTO FIRST, SECOND, AND OCCASIONALLY THIRD GEAR. THIS GENERALLY OCCURS DURING MEDIUM TO HIGHER RATES OF ACCELERATION. THE SHUDDER IS HARDER TO IDENTIFY OR NONEXISTENT WHEN ACCELERATING AT A VERY LOW PACE.
Power train, Jul 25, 2019
WHILE ACCELERATING AT ANY PACE, THE VEHICLE WILL OFTEN SHUTTER, SHIFT VERY LATE, OR FAIL TO SHIFT AT ALL. WHEN SLOWING DOWN, DURING DOWN-SHIFT FROM THE AUTOMATIC DCT, IT MAKES SORT OF A CLANKING SOUND.
Power train, Jul 24, 2019
MAKING A RIGHT TURN FROM A STOP AND SWITCHING FROM FIRST TO SECOND GEAR, THE CAR DID NOT ACCELERATE UNTIL AFTER A FEW SECONDS. THOSE SECONDS WERE CRUCIAL AS ANOTHER CAR WAS APPROACHING FROM BEHIND TRAVELING UP TO SPEED.
Power train, Jul 24, 2019
THIS 2017 FORD FOCUS IS HAVING THE SAME TRANSMISSION ISSUES BEING DESCRIBED BY OTHER FORD OWNERS FROM EARLIER MODEL YEARS. CAR SHUTTERS AND VIBRATES, OFTEN VERY HEAVILY AND MAKES LIGHT GRINDING NOISE WHEN SHIFTING. CURRENT WORKAROUND IS TO ACCELERATE VERY SLOW OR VERY FAST WHICH ISN'T ALWAYS A SAFE OPTION. PLEASE INCLUDE THE 2017 FOCUS IN YOUR INVESTIGATION. THANK YOU.
Power train, Jul 20, 2019
VEHICLE TRANSMISSION STALLS WHILE DRIVING, TO INCLUDE IN INTERSECTIONS. MY DAUGHTER DRIVES THIS CAR, WE HAVE HAD IT IN FOR SERVICE WHICH THEY SAID THEY FIXED. WITHIN 2 DAYS, IT WAS DOING THE SAME PROBLEM. WE ARE NOT AT ALL PLEASED WITH FORD FOR EVEN SELLING US THIS VEHICLE KNOWING IT HAS HAD TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS FOR SEVERAL YEARS!
Power train, Vehicle speed control, Jul 19, 2019
WHEN IN MOTION, TRAVELING FORWARD IN DRIVE. THE CAR WILL BEHAVE AS IF IT HAS SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL -- NOT RESPONDING TO PRESSURE ON THE ACCELERATOR AND REVVING UP TO AS MANY AS 6000 RPM. THE CAR WILL BEHAVE THIS WAY EVEN IN CRUISE-CONTROL MODE. WHEN AT LAST THE CAR BEGINS RESPONDING TO ACCELERATOR PRESSURE, IT LURCHES ABRUPTLY. IN ADDITION, WHEN MAKING A TURN FROM A STOP (E.G., A LEFT-HAND TURN FROM A LIGHT THAT HAS JUST TURNED GREEN), THE CAR WILL NOT BEGIN MOVING WITH ANY CONSISTENCY ACCORDING TO ACCELERATION; OFTEN, IT REVS EITHER SHORTLY AFTER MOVING OR WITHOUT ANY MOVEMENT.
Power train, Jul 19, 2019
WITHIN MONTHS AFTER BUYING THE CAR (IN OCT 2017) I NOTICED IT HESITATES AND SHUTTERS AT LOW SPEEDS WHEN DRIVING THROUGH CITY LIMITS ACCOMPANIED WITH A GARGLING SOUNDS. IT JERKS HARD DURING ACCELERATION ON THE HIGHWAY ARE NOTICEABLE BECAUSE THERE IS PROMINENT HESITATION. I TOOK IT TO A FORD DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD IT WAS THE CLUTCH AND FIXED THE ISSUE THIS WAS SEPT 2018. THE CAR DROVE WELL FOR A FEW MONTHS AND THEN IT BEGAN TO SHUTTER AGAIN. YET AGAIN, I'VE TAKEN THE CAR TO FORD TO HAVE THIS REPLACE THE CLUTCH IN JULY 2019. THIS SHOULD NOT BE AN ISSUE FOR A CAR THAT WAS BRAND NEW. AT WHAT POINT DOES THIS BECOME AN ISSUE OF ACCOUNTABILITY... WHEN INJURY OCCURS.
Power train, Jul 19, 2019
THE VEHICLE HAS THE SAME TRANSMISSION SHUDDER ISSUE AS MANY OTHERS HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT. SHIFTING FROM 1ST TO 2ND GEAR THERE SEEMS TO BE A LULL LIKE THE VEHICLE ISN'T SURE WHAT IT WANTS TO DO. I DIDN'T NOTICE IT HAPPENING IN THE WINTER TOO MUCH. HOWEVER, ONCE IT GOT WARMER, IT SEEMS LIKE IT HAPPENS NEARLY EVERY STOP LIGHT OR IN LOW SPEED ZONES WHERE IT'S SHIFTING BETWEEN 1ST AND 2ND FREQUENTLY. I ALSO HEAR A METAL CLANGING SOUND ON SLOWDOWNS OFTEN ENOUGH TO SEEM LIKE IT'S AN ISSUE WORTH MENTIONING. IT'S BEEN HAPPENING SINCE AROUND 8K MILES AND I AM AT 45K ON THE VEHICLE. I WILL BE HAVING IT LOOKED AT NOW SINCE THE WARRANTY WILL BE COMING UP AND I DON'T WANT THIS ISSUE TO LINGER.
Power train, Vehicle speed control, Engine, Jul 17, 2019
I HAVE A 2017 FOCUS THAT THE TRANSMISSION THATS SLUGGISH/SLIPPING. I BOUGHT THE CAR NEW AND AT 13,000 I ALREADY HAD TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION FOR A CLICKING/STALLING/SLIPPING. WHEN I BOUGHT IT IN AND EXPLAINED THE REASON ITS LIKE THEY ALREADY KNEW ABOUT THE ISSUE AND THE PART WAS ON BACK ORDER. HAD TO WAIT ABOUT A MONTH BEFORE THE PART GOT CHANGED. NOW AT 15,000 THE TRANSMISSION ACTING UP AGAIN. THE TRANSMISSION REVS HIGH BEFORE SWITCHING GEARS. IT SLUGGISH WHEN MERGING ONTO THE HIGHWAY. EVEN WHEN NEEDING THAT LITTLE BIT EXTRA POWER GOING UP A HILL, IT BOGS DOWN AND I HAVE TO MOVE OVER IN LANES MAKE SURE NO ONE BEHIND ME GETS STUCK. I'M ALREADY THINKING ABOUT TAKING MY CAR BACK IN AGAIN BEFORE MY 30,000 MILE WARRANTY HITS TO TRY AND GET IT REPLACED ONCE AGAIN. THE TRANSMISSION IS UNRELIABLE AND NOT EFFECTIVE. I WISH I DIDNT BUY THIS CAR AND WENT WITH A NISSAN OR TOYOTA. BUT IM STUCK WITH THIS UNRELIABLE CAR.
Power train, Jul 16, 2019
THE TRANSMISSION SKIPS, LUNGES, AND DOES NOT SHIFT WELL. IT HAS BEEN IN FOR TRANSMISSION FLASH AND AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION CLUTCH REBUILD AT 19,000 MILES. WAS IN FOR CHECK AND TRANS FLASH AT 29,000 MILES WEEK OF JUNE 27TH 2019. WAS IN TODAY, JULY 16 FOR CHECK BECAUSE IT OPERATED WORSE AFTER IT WAS LOOKED AT THREE WEEKS AGO. THE SERVICE MANAGER SAYS CLUTCH HAS TO BE REBUILT/REPLACED AGAIN...IT HAS ABOUT 30,000 MILES ON IT. THIS IS A SAFETY PROBLEM AS WE CANNOT TRUST THE VEHICLE TO GET OUT OF THE WAY OR MOVE PROPERLY WHEN GAS PEDAL IS PUT DOWN. FORD KNEW ABOUT THIS PROBLEM FOR YEARS AND STILL SOLD DEFECTIVE VEHICLES
Power train, Jul 16, 2019
BOUGHT CAR NEW TOOK TEST DRIVE ALL SEEMED FINE DID PAPER WORK DROVE HOME, FIRST STOP ON OFF RAMP WHEN LIGHT TURNED GREEN I GAVE CAR GAS AND IT JUST SAT THERE SLIPPING AND NOT SHIFTING. CANNOT DRIVE IT IN SUMMER MONTHS GETS HOT AND SLIPS AND WILL NOT UP OR DOWN SHIFT RIGHT. NO GOOD TO ME IF I CAN ONLY DRIVE IT IN WINTER. CAR HAS 11,000 MILES ON IT AND IT IS JUST SITTING IN MY DRIVEWAY WITH DEAD BATTERY. AND MINE WAS A NEW 2017 WITCH WAS SUPPOSE TO BE FIXED,NOW THE DEALER WANTS ME TO TRADE IT IN SO THEY CAN MAKE MORE MONEY.THEY ARE AS BAD AS FORD COS THEY KNOW THERE BAD AND KEEP SELLING THEM TOO!! THERE HAVE BEEN MORE THEN ONE EPISODE WITH THIS CAR, ITS EVEN WORSE WITH TWO ADULTS IN CAR. THEY SHOULD NOT BE ON ANY ROAD.
