Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain 2022 RPOD RPT153 travel trailers. The Federal Placard states an incorrect axle rating of 4400 lbs, instead of the correct rating of 3500 lbs, which can cause the vehicle to become overloaded. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of 49 CFR Part 567, "Certification."
An overloaded vehicle can cause a loss of control and increase the risk of a crash.
Forest River will mail replacement labels, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 18, 2022. Owners may contact Forest River customer service at 1-574-642-3119 Option 2. Forest River's number for this recall is 80-1525.

On XXX, the tempered-glass entry door on my 2022 Forest River R-Pod 190 travel trailer (VIN [XXX]) spontaneously shattered while the trailer was parked in [XXX]. The door was open, stationary, and facing the morning sun. No one was touching it, there was no wind or impact, and the door and glass had no prior damage. The failure sounded like a gunshot and projected broken glass onto my neck and back. I was not injured, but if I had been facing the door, the glass could have struck my eyes and caused serious injury. My wife was also inside the trailer near the doorway. The failed component is a Lippert entry-door assembly identified by label as part number V000576073, manufactured XXX. The damaged door, remaining glass, frame, hinges, and hardware have been preserved with tape and cardboard and are available for inspection upon request. The failure has not yet been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center. The door has not been inspected by Forest River, Lippert, police, an insurer, or another representative. Forest River sent my photographs to Lippert, which declined warranty coverage based on the age of the trailer but did not provide a technical cause or safety determination. There were no warning signs, messages, visible cracks, unusual operation, or other symptoms before the glass suddenly shattered. The door and frame had not been adjusted or previously damaged. In November 2019 Technical Service Bulletin: 51-1058, was issued because medicine cabinets were falling off the walls in multiple Forest River 2019 and 2020 units including amongst others the RPOD 195. "WHAT IS THE ISSUE? The medicine cabinet may detach from the bathroom wall during transit." Apparently Forest River did not fix the problem in their manufacturing process as our medicine cabinet in our 2022 RPod 195 started banging against the wall. The left side was loose, the screws would not tighten. We caught it early and to prevent further damage, we removed the cabinet from the wall for the rest of the trip. All the left side screws are screwed into nothing but the interior wall board, grabbing and being supported by nothing. The vibrating screws were starting to cause damage and enlarge the holes in the wallboard. The right side screws seemed more secure. I learned from the Facebook 195/196 group that this has happened to multiple other people with years outside the original Technical Bulletin. I contacted Forest River, who referred me to a dealer. The dealer said that they will not fix it under warranty or the Technical Bulletin.

Awning was open to dry after rain. When we came home from lunch, the arms were as low as they can be with the awning completely out of its track. We brought it to RV dealership today. They confirmed the fact that there is a recall on the awning itself.

The contact owns a 2022 Forest River R POD RV being hauled by a 2006 Ford F-250. The contact stated while driving 50 MPH and hauling the RV, the brake pedal was depressed; however, the RV braking system failed to respond. The contact stated that there was no warning light illuminated. The contact towed the RV trailer to a local RV dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the brake failure might have been with the 2006 Ford F-250. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed and it was determined that the vehicle and the brakes had operated as designed. The RV braking system was not repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The RV failure mileage was approximately 50.
