Air bags, side/window, curtain, inflatorJul 1, 2021
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2015-2016 GMC Sierra 1500, 2500, 3500, and Chevrolet Silverado 1500, 2500, and 3500 trucks. The roof-rail air bag (RRAB) inflator end cap may detach from the inflator, or the inflator sidewall may rupture.
A separated inflator end cap or inflator rupture can allow compressed gas to escape, resulting in the end cap or other components being propelled into the vehicle, increasing the risk of injury or crash.
Dealers will replace the left and right side RRAB modules, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters informing owners of the safety risk were mailed on August 18, 2021. Owners will receive a second notice when the remedy is available. Phase I owner notification letters were mailed on May 5, 2022. Phase II owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on May 31, 2022. Owners may contact GMC customer service at 1-888-988-7267 or Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. This recall supersedes NHTSA recall number 20V-736. GM's number for this recall is N202324251.

Seat belts, frontApr 8, 2021
General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2014-2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, 2015-2016 Chevrolet Tahoe, and 2014-2015 GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles that may have received an incorrect replacement tensioner cable assembly as part of a previous recall remedy or a subsequent repair. The flexible steel cable connecting the driver's seat belt to the outboard side of the seat may be repeatedly bent over the seat side shield as the driver enters and exits the vehicle causing the cable to fatigue and separate.
A broken pretensioner cable reduces the effectiveness of the driver's seat belt, increasing the risk of injury.
GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the driver seat belt lap pretensioner, free of charge. The recall began on May 5, 2021. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, and GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is N212330040.

Air bags, side/window, curtain, inflatorNov 25, 2020
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2015-2016 GMC Sierra 1500 and Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and 2015 GMC Sierra 2500 and 3500, and Chevrolet Silverado 2500 and 3500 trucks. The roof-rail air bag (RRAB) inflator end cap may detach from the inflator.
If the end cap separates from the inflator, the compressed gas will escape and the end cap can be propelled into the vehicle, increasing the risk of injury or a crash.
GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the RRAB modules on the left and/or right side, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters were mailed on December 22, 2020. Owners may contact GMC customer service at 1-888-988-7267 or Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. Note: GM filed a new recall, number 21V-504 that supersedes this recall. All vehicles previously recalled under 20V-736 will now be repaired under the new recall number 21V-504. GM's numbers for this recall are N202309680, N202309681, and N202309682.

Service brakes, hydraulic, antilock/traction control/electronic limited slip, wheel speed sensor/tone ringOct 24, 2019
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2015-2020 Chevrolet Suburban, Tahoe, and GMC Yukon, and 2014-2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles equipped with a 5.3-liter engine, a 3.08-ratio rear axle and four-wheel drive. If a wheel-speed sensor fails, while the vehicle is traveling between 41 and 60 mph in four-wheel or automatic mode, the Electronic-Brake Control Module (EBCM) software may activate the driveline-protection system.
Unintended activation of the driveline-protection system will cause unintended braking on the wheel on the opposite side of the failed sensor, causing the vehicle to pull to one side unexpectedly, increasing the risk of a crash.
GM will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the EBCM, free of charge. The recall began December 11, 2019. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-630-2438 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is N192261050.

Service brakes, hydraulic, power assist, vacuumSep 6, 2019
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2015-2017 Cadillac Escalade, 2014-2018 Chevrolet Silverado, GMC Sierra, 2015-2018 Chevrolet Suburban, Tahoe, GMC Yukon vehicles. The amount of vacuum created by the vacuum pump may decrease over time.
As the vacuum level drops, the brake assist decreases, increasing braking effort, extending the distance required to stop the vehicle, thereby increasing the risk of a crash.
GM will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the Electronic Brake Control Module, free of charge. The recall began October 8, 2019. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-630-2438, Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is N192268490.

Steering, electric power assist systemSep 7, 2018
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, Tahoe and Suburban, GMC Sierra 1500 and Yukon, and Cadillac Escalade vehicles. Electric power steering (EPS) assist may be lost momentarily, followed by a sudden return of EPS assist.
If EPS assist is lost and then suddenly returns, the driver may have difficulty steering the vehicle, especially at low speeds, increasing the risk of a crash.
GM will notify owners, and dealers will update the EPS module software, free of charge. The recall began October 12, 2018. Owners may contact Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006, Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 and GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is 18289.

Air bags, frontalJul 10, 2017
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2014-2016 Buick Lacrosse and Chevrolet Spark EV, Caprice PPV and SS vehicles, 2014-2017 Buick Encore and Chevrolet Corvette, Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles, 2015-2016 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Tahoe, Trax, Suburban and Silverado 2500 and 3500 and GMC Yukon and Yukon XL vehicles, and 2015-2017 GMC Sierra HD 2500 and 3500 vehicles. While being previously remedied for recall 16V-651, the affected vehicles may not have received the complete software update necessary to remedy the recall condition. Without the update, certain driving conditions may cause the air bag sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) software to activate a diagnostic test. During this test, deployment of the frontal air bags and the seat belt pretensioners would not occur in the event of a crash.
A failure of the front air bags or seat belt pretensioners to deploy in the event of a crash necessitating deployment increases the risk of injury to the driver and front passenger.
GM will notify owners, and dealers will reflash the SDM software. Vehicles that have had a previous air bag deployment will have the SDM replaced. These repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began on August 4, 2017. Owners may contact Buick customer service at 1-800-521-7300, Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006, Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is 17287.

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2015-2017 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD, 3500 HD, Tahoe, Suburban, GMC Sierra 2500 HD and 3500 HD, GMC Yukon, GMC Yukon XL, Cadillac Escalade and Cadillac Escalade ESV vehicles and 2014-2017 Chevrolet Corvette, Silverado 1500, Trax, Caprice Police Pursuit Vehicle, GMC Sierra 1500, Buick Encore, and 2014-2016 Buick Lacrosse, Chevrolet Spark EV and SS vehicles. In the affected vehicles, certain driving conditions may cause the air bag sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) software to activate a diagnostic test.
Seat beltsApr 12, 2016
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 trucks manufactured January 29, 2013, to January 21, 2015. While entering the vehicle, the seat belt tensioner cable may be positioned such that the driver slides over it. This movement may result in the fatigue and separation of the cable.
If the tensioner cable separates, the driver may not be properly restrained in the event of a crash, increasing their risk of injury.
GM will notify owners, and dealers will modify the vehicles to prevent the tensioner from being damaged. Any tensioner that has already been damaged will be replaced, free of charge. The recall began on August 11, 2016. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is 15822.

AC CONDENSER *TR
Other or unspecified, Mar 28, 2020
HAVE HAD MY VEHICLE AT THE SHOP FOR TRANSMISSION ISSUES SEVERAL TIMES. TWO OF THE TIMES, ISSUES WERE DUPLICATED AND PARTS REPLACED, BUT SAME ISSUES CONTINUE AS SOON AS I GET IT BACK. MY COMPLAINT WHEN I TAKE IT IN IS ALWAYS THE SAME. NORMALLY WHEN I ACCELERATE FROM A DEAD STOP FORWARD OR REVERSE, THE TRANSMISSION MAKES A THUMPING NOISE. IT HAS STEADILY GOTTEN WORSE. A LOT OF TIMES NOW IF I TAKE MY FOOT OFF GAS FOR A SECOND, AT FASTER SPEEDS, AND THEN PUT FOOT RIGHT BACK ON GAS, IT MAKES THE SAME THUMPING NOISE AND SOMETIMES A GRINDING NOISE LIKE IT'S STUCK BETWEEN GEARS. THIS LAST TIME I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER, WAS TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO AND WOULD MOST LIKELY GET WORSE AS VEHICLE GETS OLDER.

THERE IS A LEAK ON THE TOP RIGHT HAND SIDE OF THE A/C CONDENSER RESULTING IN HOT AIR COMING OUT OF THE VENTS WHEN THE A/C IS ENABLED. AFTER SOME RESEARCH I FOUND THAT THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE AND GM HAS TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR IT. GM ALREADY ISSUED A TSB FOR THE 2015 - 2017 TAHOES, YUKONS, AND ESCALADES WITH THE SAME ENGINES AND EQUIPMENT AS MY 2015 GMC SIERRA WITH 45000 MI. TSB # 17336 AIR CONDITIONING CONDENSER (COMBI-COOLER) REFRIGERANT LEAK

WHAT HAPPENED TO THE YUKON A/C ISSUE HAPPENED TO ME. WHAT WOULD IT TAKE TO MAKE SURE THE SIERRA HAS THE SAME RECALL AS THE YUKON? "YUKON AND YUKON XL VEHICLES, MAY HAVE A CONDITION WHERE THERMAL CYCLING ON THE COMBINATION TRANSMISSION FLUID/OIL AND AC CONDENSER COOLER CREATES A CRACK THAT MAY ALLOW REFRIGERANT TO ESCAPE. THIS CONDITION CONSEQUENTLY MAY DEACTIVATE THE AC SYSTEM WHICH MAY CAUSE POTENTIAL CUSTOMER ANNOYANCE."

TORQUE CONVERTER. ME AND ALONG WITH 4 OTHER PEOPLE ARE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH IT. UPON START UP AND DRIVING IT STARTS TO GET SLUGGISH AND THEN JUST COMES ALMOST TO A COMPLETE STOP ONLY BUILDING RPM'S ACCRODDING TO THE GM DEALERSHIP IT'S NORMAL. WITH ALL THE GMC TRUCKS I'VE OWNED IT HAS NEVER DONE THIS. AND IS ONLY STARTING TO DO IT OVER THE PAST COUPLE OF MONTHS. I'VE TALKED TO A GUY WHO JUST HAD 2 REPLACED IN HIS TRUCK AND IS CONTINUING TO HAVE THE PROBLEM. TO AVOID ANY VEHICLE DAMAGE FOR ANYONE ELSE I'M CONSIDERING IF YOU CAN CHECK AND SEE IF ANYONE ELSE IS HAVING THE ISSUE. I TAKE VERY GOOD CARE OF MY TRUCK I DON'T MUD IN IT OR DRIVE IT CRAZY(WRECK LESS). DEALERSHIP IS ALSO PRETTY MUCH REFUSING TO LOOK INTO THE PROBLEM OR DIAGNOSING IT CONSIDERING THAT IT'S 'NORMAL' FOR THE TRUCK DO THAT. WHICH I STRONGLY DISAGREE.

I TURNED ON THE REAR DEFROSTER, AND MY DAUGHTER SAID "MOM, IT'S SIZZLING." I LOOKED BACK AND THERE WAS SMOKE ON THE REAR WINDOW. THEN THERE WAS A LOUD BANG, AND IT SHATTERED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT IN MOTION AT THE TIME. I WAS JUST GETTING READY TO BACK OUT OF THE PARKING AREA IN MY DRIVEWAY.

I HAVE A 2015 GMC SIERRA WITH 95,198 MILES ON IT. THE AC STARTED BLOWING HOT AIR WHEN I WAS DRIVING TO WORK. I PURCHASED AND INSTALLED AN AC REFILL KIT, WHICH ONLY LASTED A COUPLE OF HOURS. I TOOK MY TRUCK TO THE LOCAL GM DEALERSHIP TO DIAGNOSE PROBLEM. DEALERSHIP CALLED TO TELL ME THAT IT WOULD BE $800+ TO REPLACE AC CONDENSER. UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION I DISCOVERED THAT FAULTY AC CONDENSERS, AND COMPRESSORS ARE VERY COMMON PROBLEMS IN CERTAIN GMC, CHEVY, AND CADILLAC VEHICLES. WHY ARE CONSUMERS STUCK PAYING OUT OF POCKET FOR KNOWN DEFECTS THAT ARE IN EXCESS OF $800?

THE A/C WENT OUT. HAVE 36000 MILES THIS SHOULDN'T BE MESSING UP.
Other or unspecified, Jun 5, 2019
THE AIR CONDITIONING STARTED BLOWING HOT AIR WHILE MOVING. THE TRUCK IS ONLY 4 YEARS OLD WITH 75000 MILES ON IT. IN DOING RESEARCH WE HAVE LEARNED THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE GMC SIERRA'S AND IT NOT COVERED BY GM EVEN THOUGH IT APPEARS TO BE A DESIGN FLAW.
Other or unspecified, Jun 3, 2019
LIKE SO MANY OTHERS, MY TRUCK IS NOT VERY OLD AND HAS BEEN BLOWING HOT AIR FOR MONTHS. IT APPEARS TO BE THE SAME CONDENSER ISSUE AS REPORTED BY HUNDREDS IF NOT THOUSANDS MORE. AFTER DISCOVERING THIS IS CHRONIC ISSUE AND AC DELCO * DISCONTINUED THE ORIGINAL CONDENSER * ISSUED TSBS FOR THE CONDENSER WHICH INCLUDE A BRACKET TO HELP PREVENT THE ISSUE (TSB PIT5331 / OCT 2014) (TSB PIE0340 / MAY 2015) NEITHER OF THESE WERE EITHER APPLIED TO MY VEHICLE OR WERE NOT EFFECTIVE IN PREVENTING THE ISSUE. IT SEEMS OBVIOUS THAT THIS IS A DEFECT IN MATERIALS AND WORKMANSHIP BASED ON THEIR ISSUING OF THESE TSBS AND FAILURE TO RECALL THESE VEHICLES UNDER WARRANTY. THEY'VE APPARENTLY OPERATED A BLATANT "LET'S WAIT AND SEE" CAMPAIGN, HOPING THOSE OF US THAT DIDN'T CATCH THIS UNDER WARRANTY WILL FALL OUT OF WARRANTY AS I HAVE. SEVERAL LAW FIRMS HAVE INITIATED CLASS ACTION SUITS AGAINST GM IN REGARDS TO THIS, BUT IT SEEMS LIKE THAT'S A GOOD CHANCE TO GET LAWYERS RICH AND NOT GET MY TRUCK FIXED, OR GET A CHECK FOR $9.99... AS A SUMMARY - MY TRUCK BEGAN BLOWING WARM AIR LAST FALL, BUT I DIDN'T RECOGNIZE IT AS AN ISSUE AS THE WEATHER WAS ALSO TURNING COOL AND I WASN'T USING THE A/C. AC/DELCO AND GENERAL MOTORS KNOWS THIS IS CHRONIC AND AVOIDABLE ISSUE THE FAULTY PARTS HAVE BEEN REPLACED WHEN THE PRODUCTS FAIL UNDER WARRANTY NO EFFORT HAS BEEN MADE TO REPLACE THE KNOWINGLY FAULTY PARTS.
Other or unspecified, Jun 3, 2019
AIR CONDITIONER BLOWS HOT AIR AS A RESULT OF LINE SYSTEM LEAK. AIR CONDITIONING FAILURE DO TO KNOWN TSB PIT5331. GMC HAS COVERED THIS ISSUE FOR LIKE SUV MODELS (ESCALADE, TAHOE, YUKON), BUT WANTS OVER $1,000 TO REPAIR GMC SIERRA 1500 AT GMC DEALERSHIP. THIS IS A FAULTY PRODUCT DESIGN THAT IS A KNOWN PROBLEM PER THEIR OWN SERVICE BULLETIN, AND ASSOCIATED HARNESS TO ENFORCE FAULTY AIR CONDITIONER UNIT DESIGN.
Other or unspecified, Jun 3, 2019
2015 GMC SIERRA 1500 AIR CONDITIONING HAS STOPPED WORKING. THIS APPEARS TO BE A VERY COMMON PROBLEM AND GMC HAS ONLY ISSUED SPOTTY RECALLS FOR IT. MY TRUCK HAS 46,000 MILES AND NOW MY CHILDREN GET TO RIDE IN A HOT VEHICLE BECAUSE GM WILL NOT HELP WITH REPAIR.

TAKATA RECALL 2015 GMC SIERRA 1500 BOUGHT IT NEW. STARTED HAVEING MAY A 2016 THE AC WENT OUT AND I WAS TRAVELING AND 3 OF THE PISTONS STOP WORKING SO I TOOK IT TO A NEAR GMC DEALERSHIP THEY GOT REPAIRED A TRIP MADE IT BACK HOME FOR MONTHS LATER MY ENGIEN STOP WORKING THEY SAID THEY NEEDED TO GET THE COMPUTER TESTED IN CASE I DAMAGED THE ENGINE AND WAS PROVING THAT I DIDNT COUSE NO DAMAGE ENGINE THEY REPLACED THE ENGINE A YEAR LATER IN 2017 AROUND DECEMBER THE TRANSMISSION AND GMC REPLACED THAT GOD IT WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY AND NOW AGAIN IN 2018 AND NOVEMBER MY AC WENT OUT AGAIN I'M HAVEING ATTAINED TO FIX IT BECAUSE OF WHAT THEY CHARGE TO REPLACE IT A NEW VEHICLE AM STILL PAYING AND SO MANY PROBLEMS WHAT AM I REALLY PAYING FOR JUNCK. I HAVE HAD A 2013 WITH NO PROBLEM THAT'S Y I UPGRADED. BELIEVE ME I DONT THINK.OF UP GRADING ANY MORE MY TRUCK IS AT 90.000 MILES NOT AM SUCK FIXING A $50.000 TRUCK IT'S SAD.

MY 2015 GMC SIERRA 1500 (APPROXIMATELY 45,000 MILES) HAD A DEFECT THAT CAUSED THE AC SYSTEM TO CRACK AND LEAK REFRIGERANT, LOSE PRESSURE, AND FAIL TO PROPERLY FUNCTION. WHEN I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO A CERTIFIED GM SERVICE CENTER ON 4/11/19, THREE OTHER SIMILAR VEHICLES (MAKE/MODEL/YEAR) WERE EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE. UPON CONDUCTING FURTHER RESEARCH I FOUND THAT THIS ISSUE IS WIDESPREAD AMONGST SIMILAR YEAR GMC SIERRA AND CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500 PICKUPS. SO MUCH SO THAT SOME AREAS ARE EXPERIENCING AC CONDENSER REPLACEMENT PART SHORTAGES. MY VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY AND GM REFUSED TO ASSIST WITH THE OVER $1,200 REPAIR BILL.
