  1. Power train, Fuel/propulsion system, Aug 31, 2026

My 2022 GMC Sierra started hesitating two weeks ago between the speeds of 17-35 mph. It also hesitates going downhill. When I try to accelerate it hesitates causing a serious safety issue for me driving. I cant trust to move when I need to move across a busy intersection with semi tractor trailers coming at me. I can trust it to tow or haul anything anymore. This is well known and documented problem General Motors has and the company deems it "Normal Operations" which is totally not normal.

  2. Power train, Service brakes, Engine, Aug 30, 2026

My truck has the same issues for the transmission and engine problems I have taken it to 4 dealerships and they all say the same thing. The first one I spent about 3 hours there and they changed the 20 oil to the 40 oil and said that will fix the issues but it hasn't i called GMC to report this and they sent me to the others but they said it's been looked at and I know one of them didn't do anything to see the issue.Gmc called the other day and I told them I will let the engine locked up or the transmission keep doing the same thing and they'll have to fix the issue then.I do have 109000 miles on it but thus issue has been going on for 4 years they said I have 150000 miles for the issue but I do t think that is right.I paid them cash money for the truck when I bought it

  3. Engine, Aug 30, 2026

I bought this truck from a dealer at the end of july 2026 and it only had 27k miles on it. I got the carfax and saw all the times of service and checked that this truck was inspected and went to the new oil type, filter and cap. It also was showing it had the special warranty due to recall. So i assumed everything was good to go and the truck was relaicle. Not even 18 days later and less than 800 miles I broke down mid drive. I was traveling at 45 mph and lost all power and almost caused an accident trying to get over and parked safely. There was no warning light or indication of it breaking down or having a mechanical issue. It went to the dealer and they diagnosed it as complete engine failure due the issue GM is having currently. They did order a new motor and it took two weeks to get in but they are in the process of the engine swap as we speak. I am sure i will get more details this week....but I am concerned now amd honestly wish I wouldnt have bought this truck considering I am seeing reports of new motor swaps having catastrophic engine failure two or three times. So at this point im in limbo waiting for the new install and hopefully it doesnt fail again

  4. Power train, Aug 30, 2026

Truck died while driving on a major highway due to a faulty fuel pump module. The vehicle was blocking an intersection. The vehicle could not be put into neutral without the engine running because of the electronic transmission. Could not move the vehicle out of the intersection and out of traffic. I found out later that to put the truck in neutral requires a special tool, and going under the truck to engage the bypass, which is very difficult and unsafe on a major roadway.

  5. Engine, Aug 29, 2026

Early this year the crankshaft seized while driving. The engine was promptly replaced and I carried on my way. Then 7k miles later, the replacement engine that GM sent also blew up and was a total replacement. Hopefully the third engine lasts longer.

  6. Engine, Aug 28, 2026

The lifters stuck and it ruined the cam shaft. This was repaired and then when driving home, the engine seized and started smoking. The engine was then diagnosed with complete failure and it had to be replaced. The engine had been upgraded a year or two earlier to the 0W-40.

  7. Fuel/propulsion system, Aug 27, 2026

The Dynamic Fuel Management (DFS) is causing damage to lifters, valves, camshafts, and connecting rods. I received a recall notice from GMC on the GMC app, stating "L88" Engine loss of Propulsion or Related field action: Special coverage N252494003. The connecting rod and/or crankshaft engine components have manufacturing defects that can lead to engine damage and engine failure. My 22' GMC 1500 has just over 30k miles, and issues are starting with the previously mentioned engine parts. A "pico" test was completed at approx 20k miles. Too early and not enough mileage to show the true damage caused by the "DFM" Dynamic Fuel Management.

  8. Engine, Aug 26, 2026

The vehicle’s engine suffered a catastrophic failure and locked up while in operation. The engine is still installed in the vehicle and is available for inspection upon request. The engine suddenly locked up while I was driving, causing the vehicle to lose power and become disabled in traffic. I was forced to get the vehicle out of the flow of traffic and have it towed to a safe location. The sudden engine failure created a significant safety risk to me and other motorists, particularly because the failure occurred while the vehicle was being driven. Yes. Integrity Buick GMC in Chattanooga inspected the vehicle and confirmed that the engine had locked up. Only the dealer. No.

  9. Engine, Aug 26, 2026

Had a prior recall a few months back on my truck in reference to the engine. My truck didn’t have an engine issue such as check engine light etc etc etc which required attention. So they only changed the oil to a different velocity. On Sunday afternoon August 23, 2026 while driving on Interstate 20 near Longview, Texas the truck shut off. I had to get it towed to the Chevy dealership (Peltier Chevy in Tyler, Texas).

  10. Vehicle speed control, Forward collision avoidance, Aug 25, 2026

The forward-facing camera module and related Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), including Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Keep Assist. The system has failed repeatedly, with the camera replaced three previous times. On XXX, the vehicle performed unintended hard braking at approximately 70 mph on the interstate, after which Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Keep Assist became inoperative. Similar hard-braking events followed by system failure also occurred approximately one month prior to the most recent previous failure. The dealership (Confidence Chevrolet Buick GMC in [XXX]) has confirmed the forward-facing camera and ADAS failures on multiple occasions. The camera module has been replaced three times (XXX). During the XXX repair, technicians documented Diagnostic Trouble Code U3000:49 (internal malfunction in the front view camera module), opened TAC case XXX, and performed radio programming per bulletin 25-NA-318. The dealer has repeatedly verified the loss of Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Keep Assist. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

  11. Electrical system, Forward collision avoidance, Aug 25, 2026

I am filing a formal safety complaint regarding my 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali (5.3L engine). This vehicle has exhibited a pattern of severe electrical, fuel system, and active safety sensor failures that pose a direct threat to occupant and public safety. At approximately 4,000 miles, the high-pressure fuel injectors suffered an early-stage mechanical failure requiring dealer repair. At approximately 24,000 miles, the vehicle suffered a catastrophic, un-warned total power shutdown while driving in the middle of active, fast-moving 5:00 PM rush-hour traffic on a 100-degree day in [XXX]. The vehicle completely stalled, causing a loss of standard driving capabilities and leaving the occupants stranded without air conditioning or cabin ventilation in an incredibly high-risk, live-traffic environment. The dealership attributed the failure to the fuel pump switch/control module. The vehicle's active safety framework is deeply compromised. The forward-facing front collision camera and its integrated crash-avoidance sensors have completely failed and required a minimum of three (3) separate repair interventions, yet the safety system remains broken and unreliable. The vehicle exhibits phantom electrical bugs. The MultiPro tailgate audio system consistently turns itself on while the vehicle is parked, locked, and closed, hijacking the driver's phone Bluetooth from inside the home. While driving down the road, the internal cabin radio will abruptly cut out and begin blasting audio through the exterior tailgate speakers, creating a severe driver distraction. The dealership has repeatedly dismissed these electrical safety anomalies as untraceable.3. 12. Power train, Engine, Aug 23, 2026

I got the vehicle with 60,000 miles 8,000 miles in vehicle gave me problems gave me a check engine light code p0300 then took it to get inspected then was told it was the fly wheel then it’s started knocking vehicle is currently not being droven because of the fly wheel

  13. Engine, Aug 23, 2026

The oil recall on my truck has been completed, but the low oil light still comes on. They changed the weight of the oil stated that it didn’t fall Under the engine replacement recall. All that was done was a new oil cap and change weight of oil. Did not solve anything.

  14. Engine, Aug 22, 2026

While traveling northbound on the I 10 freeway my vehicle wouldn’t accelerate once pulled over to the shoulder the vehicle completely lost all acceleration and shut off. The vehicle smelled like burning plastic and would not restart. The dealership’s reporting engine fail.

  15. Engine, Aug 21, 2026

engine was replaced by Classic GMC in Katy/Houston, TX in dec 2025 under L87 recall. My wife was driving and was stopped on an off-ramp but still in the traffic lane. It started with a light knock that i thought i heard the day before, but then died on freeway within maybe 15 miles of her driving. Unknown if it knocked louder, but wife says she never heard anything until it died and check engine light came on and engine would not restart. Required tow to GMC dealer. They diagnosed and took 2-3 weeks to source and replace the engine. In july 2026, started hearing very similar noise - this time apparently the water pump seized. Heard noise and got home within about 10 miles. Checked under hood and drive belt was significantly frayed and knocking/metallic noise was intense. Towed to Classic GMC. Not covered under any warranty - my replacement engine did not include a new pump. Cost $1700 at Classic GMC - they said it had no relation to the engine replacement or labor done in December. Unrelated, but icing on the cake - less than 2 hours and 10 miles of picking it up from service, lots of warnings about lane keep, adaptive cruise control, and park sense started going off. Returned to same shop the next day and *poof* the camera and processor that runs all those systems was somehow fried. Unrelated of course. $1200 a but they claimed GM graciously offered to “split the cost with me 50/50” since I just paid so much for the water pump. Picked up from service and traded vehicle in with 2 days.

  16. Engine, Aug 21, 2026

The engine was producing a strange noise while driving and subsequently shut off. The vehicle was towed to a GMC dealership where an inspection/testing was performed. Ultimately, I was told the entire engine needed to be replaced.

  17. Engine, Aug 20, 2026

Vehicle was traveling at 65 mph on a busy highway when vehicle engine stopped. A message on the dash appeared indicating to driver to shift to neutral and try to restart engine. As vehicle was quickly loosing speed it was decided to coast to the side of road to avoid someone running into vehicle causing multiple cars to crash. After stopping vehicle, an attempt was made to start vehicle. Engine would not turn over. Vehicle was towed to dealership. The following day I was informed that the engine needed replacement.

  18. Vehicle speed control, Engine, Fuel/propulsion system, Aug 7, 2026

I was driving to work on 7/20/26 and my vehicle loss engine propulsion , engine failure and unable to restart vehicle and shift gears.

  19. Power train, Aug 7, 2026

The failure to have proper viscosity oil along with manufacturing error resulting in failure of lifters, cam shaft, and crank shaft all needing replaced. Repair totaled over $10,000

  20. Vehicle speed control, Forward collision avoidance, Aug 7, 2026

Current Unsafe Conditions: Post-Replacement Active Safety Failures. The vehicle presently exhibits two distinct categories of active, ongoing, and dangerous safety failures, both of which were introduced as a direct result of the engine replacement performed by Monument Chevrolet: (a) Severe Drivability Failure. Between approximately 1,500 and 5,000 RPM, the engine repeatedly and without warning lunges forward, drops all power, and lunges again — cycling in this manner between three (3) and six (6) times before stabilizing. This behavior occurs across all gears and driving conditions, which creates a severe and unpredictable hazard particularly when merging into traffic or accelerating onto highways. This failure constitutes an immediate and ongoing risk to the safety of myself and other motorists. (b) Complete ADAS System Failure. The frontal crash response warning light is permanently illuminated on the instrument cluster, rendering the following federally relevant safety systems entirely non-functional: (i) Automatic Emergency Braking / Forward Collision Alert; (ii) Cruise Control; and (iii) Lane Change Assist / Lane Control System. All of these systems were fully operational and properly functioning before the vehicle was submitted for the engine swap. Their failure is an assembly defect introduced by Monument Chevrolet during the course of the repair and constitutes a warranty and safety defect for which General Motors, as the manufacturer and warrantor, bears full responsibility. Medical Hardship and Urgency. This vehicle is my sole personal transportation. It is essential for travel to active medical appointments and upcoming medical procedures. The ongoing failure of General Motors and its authorized service network to restore this vehicle to a safe and fully operable condition has created a serious hardship that directly affects my ability to access needed medical care. Yes, it was driven by a service department supervisor. He did experience the issues.

  21. Lane departure, Forward collision avoidance, Aug 6, 2026

For the past 6 months I’ve had issues with my crash avoidance system, steer assist and lane departure warning. The crash indicator light would illuminate on my dash for no apparent reason. That would disable my crash warning system, steer assist and lane departure warning but, I could still adjust my distance for my brake warning indicator. The other problems that are not safety related is cruise control and automatic high beam lights will not function. I researched the Internet and found this is not an uncommon problem for this year model. The most common fix (if the windshield is not dirty) was remove the F 11 fuse, in the fuse panel beside passenger door for 10 seconds, that would allow the system to reboot. That worked for 3 months with more than 10 occurrences of the light illuminating on the dash. Now the crash indicator light is on continuously and will not reset by removing the fuse. The computer is up-to-date and all the settings in the infotainment system for the crash avoidance system are activated. Check numerous Internet websites, the cameras for this system is on backorder. So there must be a parent problem with the system. I was required to purchase 36 months of OnStar, I did not purchase a renewal agreement after the 36 month and this issue started soon after.

  22. Other or unspecified, Aug 5, 2026

Top Grill/Hood trim piece - it is separate from the main Grill. It detached and flew off at interstate speed. Thank God it missed several cars behind me. The passenger side corner came loose and before I could safely make my way off the interstate the piece ripped all the way across and flew over the top of the truck. May have gone 30 feet in the air prior to landing on the asphalt between the two lanes.

  23. Structure, Aug 2, 2026

My truck was serviced for the front chrome grill separation recall last year. On Saturday, 8/1/2026 while driving at highway speed the grill deflector separated from the vehicle violently. I was able to pull off of the highway and remove the part as only the passenger corner clip (with screw) was partially retaining the deflector. Upon looking at the "repair" or recall, the corrective action does not appear to have been done correctly per N242490120. The chrome coating was not scuffed let alone removed from the part and an insufficient amount of epoxy was used to attach this deflector. Damage was done to the hood and lower grill during this incident. I have had numerous and considerable issues with the purchasing/servicing dealership where I bought this truck.

  24. Electrical system, Back over prevention, Jul 31, 2026

My truck is intermittently having the camera display a warning code. While in reverse or while towing and trying to use the surrounding cameras. It happens randomly and almost caused accidents in parking lots. While towing I use it for lane changes and with non towing mirrors it’s a very dangerous issue that could cause an accident especially on the highway

  25. Power train, Jul 30, 2026

While driving my 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 (VIN: [XXX]) in active traffic, the 10-speed automatic transmission suffered a sudden and catastrophic internal failure. Without warning, the vehicle stalled in the middle of traffic and forced itself into a hazardous "limp mode," severely restricting my speed and acceleration. This created an immediate, high-risk safety emergency, leaving my passengers and me vulnerable to a rear-end collision before we could navigate out of the live roadway. The vehicle was towed to an independent facility (Kenny's Transmission, Repair Order #XXX) at 65,579 miles. Diagnostic troubleshooting confirmed a "Number 6 Solenoid Code" and "Internal Transmission Mechanical Failure" (3-4 races away, total loss of reverse gear), requiring a complete replacement of the transmission assembly utilizing an official GM service part at a personal cost of $6,673.10. General Motors has previously acknowledged 10-speed transmission control valve defects and wheel-lockup hazards by issuing safety recalls for diesel variants, but gas-powered models like my 6.2L L87 engine are experiencing identical, highly dangerous sudden losses of motive power without federal recall protection. I am requesting that the NHTSA investigate this systemic failure rate on 2022 gas models before it causes a major collision.
