  10. Power train, automatic transmission, control module (tcm/pcm/tecm)Aug 4, 2011

HONDA IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2005-2010 ACCORD, 2007-2010 CR-V, AND 2005-2008 ELEMENT PASSENGER CARS MANUFACTURED FROM JULY 1, 2004, THROUGH SEPTEMBER 3, 2010. THE OUTER RACE OF THE SECONDARY SHAFT BEARING MAY BE BROKEN DURING CERTAIN DRIVING STYLES. A BROKEN OUTER RACE MAY CAUSE ABNORMAL NOISE, THE MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT TO TURN ON, AND ALLOW CONTACT BETWEEN THE TRANSMISSION IDLE GEAR AND AN ELECTRONIC SENSOR HOUSING WITHIN THE TRANSMISSION.

THIS COULD RESULT IN A SHORT CIRCUIT CAUSING THE ENGINE TO STALL. ADDITIONALLY, BROKEN PIECES OF THE OUTER RACE OR BALL BEARING FROM THE SECONDARY SHAFT MAY BECOME LODGED IN THE PARKING PAWL RESULTING IN THE VEHICLE ROLLING AFTER THE DRIVER HAS PLACED THE GEAR SELECTOR IN THE PARK POSITION. ENGINE STALL AND UNEXPECTED VEHICLE MOVEMENT INCREASES THE RISK OF A CRASH OR PERSONAL INJURY TO PERSONS WITHIN THE PATH OF A ROLLING VEHICLE.

HONDA WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND DEALERS WILL UPDATE THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE SOFTWARE FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON AUGUST 27, 2011. OWNERS MAY CONTACT HONDA AUTOMOBILE CUSTOMER SERVICE AT 1-800-999-1009.

HONDA IS RECALLING AFTERMARKET FULL NOSE MASKS, PART NUMBER 08P35-TA0-100 AND 08P35-TA6-100 MANUFACTURED BETWEEN AUGUST 9, 2007 THROUGH DECEMBER 11, 2007. THE ACCESSORY WAS DESIGNED SPECIFICALLY FOR MODEL YEAR 2008-2010 HONDA ACCORD 4-DOOR VEHICLES. IT IS POSSIBLE FOR THE NOSE MASK MATERIAL TO INTERFERE WITH PART OF THE HOOD LATCH. IF THE HOOD HAS NOT BEEN COMPLETELY CLOSED AND THE NOSE MASK INTERFERES WITH THE SECONDARY HOOD LATCH MECHANISM THE HOOD MAY POP OPEN WHILE THE VEHICLE BEING DRIVEN.

THIS MAY RESULT IN REDUCED DRIVER VISIBILITY THAT COULD INCREASE THE RISK OF A CRASH.

HONDA IS ASKING OWNERS TO PLEASE REMOVE THE NOSE MASK IMMEDIATELY AND CALL ANY AUTHORIZED HONDA DEALER TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TO RETURN THE NOSE MASK AND HAVE IT REPLACED FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON MARCH 2009. OWNERS MAY CONTACT HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE AT 1-800-999-1009.

NOTICED THAT REAR BRAKES STARTED MAKING A HIGH PITCH SQUEALING NOISE. TOOK IT IN AND HAD THE ROTORS CLEANED AND THEY SAID BRAKES WERE FINE AND IT WAS A DEFECT ON HONDA CARS THAT THE BRAKES TEND TO SQUEAL. THE CLEANING DID NOT HELP AS IT STILL MAKES A HIGH PITCH SQUEALING NOISE. *TR

I AM FORTUNATE TO BE ALIVE AS MY BRAKES WERE NOT WORKING AND I WAS COMING OFF A RAMP BUT DRIVING IN THE SPEED LIMIT...THAT IS THE KEY. THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE BRAKES-BUT THE "BRAKE BOOSTER AND MASTER CYLINDER WAS LEAKING"A RELIABLE MECHANIC DID NOT DETECT ANYTHING-BUT I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP EVEN THOUGH THE BRAKES WERE NOW WORKING FINE. THE MECHANIC AT THE FIRST PLACE SAID NOTHING WAS DETECTED-THERE WERE NO SIGNS VISUAL OR ELECTRONIC ( ON THE DASHBOARD)OF ANYTHING WRONG. HOWEVER THE DEALERSHIP SAID THE MASTER CYLINDER WAS LEAKING AND DAMAGED THE BRAKE BOOSTER. HOW WAS I TO HAVE KNOWN? THERE WAS NO INDICATION OF THIS ON THE DASH AND NO SIGN OF ANYTHING. I AM LUCKY TO BE ALIVE BECAUSE OF THE WAY I HANDLED THIS SITUATION. THEY ARE CHARGING ME A PRETTY PENNY AND I FEEL I HAVE A LEMON. THIS IS A PRODUCT DEFECT AND COULD HAVE KILLED MANY PEOPLE.THIS IS THE FIRST TIME BUT IT COULD HAVE BEEN THE LAST TIME AS THE CAR COULD HAVE BEEN TOTALED ALONG WITH ME.IS THIS HOW ONE FINDS OUT ABOUT ISSUES WITH BRAKE BOOSTERS? I WANT MY MONEY BACK OR I WANT A NEW CAR. I AM VERY VERY UNCOMFORTABLE DRIVING THIS CAR NOW. *JS

MOTOR RUNS/IDLES VERY ROUGH. NEXT MORNING ON DRIVE IN TO LOCAL DEALERSHIP, VSA LIGHT ILLUMINATES AND STAYS ILLUMINATED. CAR STILL IDLES AND RUNS VERY ROUGH, SPITTING AND SPUTTERING ETC. DEALERSHIP INSPECTS CAR. DEALERSHIP DETERMINES THE MOUNT OF OIL IN THE CAR IS TOO LOW. NO EVIDENCE OF OIL LEAKS. DEALERSHIP CONSULTS WITH HONDA. OIL CONSUMPTION TEST IS NOW RECOMMENDED. I AM TO RETURN THE CAR TO THE HONDA DEALERSHIP TO CHECK THE OIL LEVEL AT 1,000 MILES INTERVALS FOR AN UNSPECIFIED PERIOD OF TIME. DURING THE PROCESS, THE ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM ENGAGED AND LOCKED ALL OF THE DOORS. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO OPEN ANY OF THE DOORS. THE CONTACT HAD TO BREAK THE FRONT WINDSHIELD IN ORDER TO EXIT THE VEHICLE. 8. Vehicle speed control, Jun 3, 2012

I WAS STOPPED ON SIDE RESIDENTIAL STREET PREPARING TO TURN RIGHT ONTO MAJOR THOROUGHFARE. STARTED TO TURN RIGHT AND CAR SHOT FORWARD AS IF THE CAR WAS POSSESSED-- STRAIGHT AHEAD AND THEN VEERING LEFT. TOOK FOOT OFF GAS BUT STILL CONTINUED AT HIGH SPEED. I STRUGGLED WITH STEERING,WHICH SEEMED TO BE MORE STIFF AND NOT RESPONSIVE, FEARING I WOULD CRASH FIRST INTO THE STORES, TREES, LIGHT POLES DIRECTLY IN FRONT, THEN AS I WENT WITH THE DIRECTION IT SEEMED TO BE PULLING, AND VEERING BACK LEFT THEN RIGHT, PULLED IT BACK TO THE RIGHT ENOUGH TO GET INTO RIGHT CURBSIDE LANE. I DON'T THINK THE BRAKES RESPONDED EITHER. FINALLY SOMEHOW CONTROLLED IT ENOUGH TO PULL INTO GAS STATION, WHERE I PARKED BUT DID NOT TURN OFF THE MOTOR. I WAS AFRAID TO MOVE IT ANY MORE. CALLED AAA AND HONDA TO REPORT AND ASK WHAT TO DO. I WAS SO LUCKY THAT FOR ONCE TRAFFIC WAS LIGHT AND NO ONE GOT HURT. I WAS SURPRISED THAT I HAD NO POLICE COMING AFTER ME OR SOME DRIVER WHO WOULD HAVE BEEN CURIOUS AS TO WHY I SEEMED TO BE DRIVING ERRATICALLY AND SCREAMING THROUGH THE INTERSECTION AT SUCH HIGH SPEED. FLOOR MATS WERE NOT TOUCHING THE PEDAL. CURIOUS SIDE NOTE: AFTER I MADE TWO CALLS TO AAA AND HONDA, THE PHONE WOULD NO LONGER RESPOND. DOING THE DIAGNOSTICS, IT SAID IT HAD FULL FIVE BARS OF STRENGTH BUT KEPT GETTING "CALL FAILED" WHEN I TRIED TO CALL THEM BACK TO CHECK TOW TRUCK PROGRESS. THE HISTORY OF THOSE TWO CALLS ALSO SEEMED TO HAVE BEEN WIPED OFF MY PHONE. TOW TRUCK COULD NOT CALL ME BACK AND GOT REPORT THAT MY PHONE WAS "BUSY". FINALLY WHILE WE WERE WAITING FOR TOW TRUCK, MY HUSBAND TOOK OUT THE BATTERY COMPLETELY, REINSERTED AND IT REPROGRAMMED ITSELF. QUESTION: IS IT A CAR DEFECT OR DID IT HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE NEARBY HIGH TENSION LINES AND THE PHONE CELL TOWER ACROSS THE STREET? HOW DO I KNOW IT WON'T HAPPEN AGAIN? THANK GOD THAT IT DID NOT HAPPEN IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. *TR

I BROUGHT MY 2009 HONDA ACCORD IN FOR A REGULAR OIL CHANGE AND WAS TOLD THAT MY REAR BRAKES NEED TO BE REPLACED. I ONLY HAVE 30,000 MILES WHICH A LOT OF THESE MILES ARE HIGHWAY MILES. NEVER WITH ANY LEASE I HAVE HAD IN THE PAST 18 YEARS, DID I EVER HAVE TO REPLACE BRAKES. THE CARS WERE RETURNED WITHIN THE 36,000 MILE ALLOWANCE. THEY WERE NOT HONDA LEASES, HOWEVER, THIS WAS MY FIRST HONDA. PRIOR LEASES WERE CADILLAC AND NISSAN VEHICLES. *TR

2009 HONDA ACCORD. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO REPAIRS RELATED TO REMOTE START AND MAIN FUSE *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED WHEN SHE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE, SHE PURCHASED A HONDA CARE VEHICLE SERVICE CONTRACT EXTENDED WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE CAME EQUIPPED WITH A REMOTE START. HOWEVER, ON NOVEMBER 13, 2011, HER SON WAS UNABLE TO START THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER, WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED A MAIN FUSE HAD BLOWN, POSSIBLY DUE TO THE REMOTE START. THE FUSE WAS REPLACED. HOWEVER, ON DECEMBER 9, 2011, THE VEHICLE BROKE DOWN AGAIN, AND HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALER. IT WAS DETERMINED, A WIRE IN THE REMOTE START BLEW THE MAIN FUSE AGAIN. HOWEVER, THE CONSUMER HAD TO PAY $241.31 FOR THE REPAIRS. THE DEALER REFUSED TO THE HONOR THE EXTENDED WARRANTY THE CONSUMER PURCHASED, BECAUSE THEY WERE CONCERNED THAT THE REMOTE START WAS AN AFTER MARKET COMPONENT. IT WAS DETERMINED, THAT THE SELLING DEALER DID IN FACT INSTALL THE REMOTE START THROUGH AN AUTHORIZED REPRESENTATIVE. *JB
