  10. Power train, automatic transmission, control module (tcm/pcm/tecm)Aug 4, 2011

HONDA IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2005-2010 ACCORD, 2007-2010 CR-V, AND 2005-2008 ELEMENT PASSENGER CARS MANUFACTURED FROM JULY 1, 2004, THROUGH SEPTEMBER 3, 2010. THE OUTER RACE OF THE SECONDARY SHAFT BEARING MAY BE BROKEN DURING CERTAIN DRIVING STYLES. A BROKEN OUTER RACE MAY CAUSE ABNORMAL NOISE, THE MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT TO TURN ON, AND ALLOW CONTACT BETWEEN THE TRANSMISSION IDLE GEAR AND AN ELECTRONIC SENSOR HOUSING WITHIN THE TRANSMISSION.

THIS COULD RESULT IN A SHORT CIRCUIT CAUSING THE ENGINE TO STALL. ADDITIONALLY, BROKEN PIECES OF THE OUTER RACE OR BALL BEARING FROM THE SECONDARY SHAFT MAY BECOME LODGED IN THE PARKING PAWL RESULTING IN THE VEHICLE ROLLING AFTER THE DRIVER HAS PLACED THE GEAR SELECTOR IN THE PARK POSITION. ENGINE STALL AND UNEXPECTED VEHICLE MOVEMENT INCREASES THE RISK OF A CRASH OR PERSONAL INJURY TO PERSONS WITHIN THE PATH OF A ROLLING VEHICLE.

HONDA WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND DEALERS WILL UPDATE THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE SOFTWARE FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON AUGUST 27, 2011. OWNERS MAY CONTACT HONDA AUTOMOBILE CUSTOMER SERVICE AT 1-800-999-1009.

  11. EquipmentNov 18, 2009

HONDA IS RECALLING AFTERMARKET FULL NOSE MASKS, PART NUMBER 08P35-TA0-100 AND 08P35-TA6-100 MANUFACTURED BETWEEN AUGUST 9, 2007 THROUGH DECEMBER 11, 2007. THE ACCESSORY WAS DESIGNED SPECIFICALLY FOR MODEL YEAR 2008-2010 HONDA ACCORD 4-DOOR VEHICLES. IT IS POSSIBLE FOR THE NOSE MASK MATERIAL TO INTERFERE WITH PART OF THE HOOD LATCH. IF THE HOOD HAS NOT BEEN COMPLETELY CLOSED AND THE NOSE MASK INTERFERES WITH THE SECONDARY HOOD LATCH MECHANISM THE HOOD MAY POP OPEN WHILE THE VEHICLE BEING DRIVEN.

THIS MAY RESULT IN REDUCED DRIVER VISIBILITY THAT COULD INCREASE THE RISK OF A CRASH.

HONDA IS ASKING OWNERS TO PLEASE REMOVE THE NOSE MASK IMMEDIATELY AND CALL ANY AUTHORIZED HONDA DEALER TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TO RETURN THE NOSE MASK AND HAVE IT REPLACED FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON MARCH 2009. OWNERS MAY CONTACT HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE AT 1-800-999-1009.

  7. Steering, Nov 28, 2011

THERE IS A KNOWN FABRICATION DEFECT OF THE STEERING COLUMN ON HONDA ACCORD 2009 MODEL. A SERVICE BULLETIN WAS ISSUED BY HONDA CORPORATION REGARDING THIS ISSUE IN 2009. THE LOWER BEARING OF THE STEERING COLUMN WAS MIS-INSTALLED. AS A RESULT, THE STEERING COLUMN MAKES A CLUNK NOISE WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL IS TURNED. I FIRST BROUGHT THIS ISSUE TO THE ATTENTION OF THE HONDA DEALERSHIP SOON AFTER I PURCHASED THE CAR IN OCTOBER 2009. THEY DID NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. MEANWHILE THE STEERING BECAME STICKY. IN OTHER WORDS THE BEARING IN CAUSING BINDING. I AM AFRAID THAT AT A SUDDEN TURN OF THE STEERING WHEEL, THE BEARING MIGHT SHATTER AND LOCK UP THE STEERING COLUMN. I CONSIDER THIS TO BE A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. *KB

FRONT BRAKES ON THIS MODEL ARE PREMATURELY GOING OUT. I HAVE 21,000 MILES AND THEY ARE TERRIBLE! SOMEONE IS EVENTUALLY GOING TO GET HURT. TRANSMISSION IS ALSO ACTING UP SINCE THE TIME I BOUGHT THE CAR. I HAVE COMPLAINED SIX TIMES ABOUT BOTH ISSUES BUT TO NO AVAIL.

MY '09 HONDA ACCORD STARTED HAVING BRAKE NOISES AT UNDER 20K MILES. UPON TAKING IN THE FIRST TIME AT 22K MILES I WAS TOLD THE CAR NEEDED NEW REAR BRAKE PADS AND RESURFACING ALREADY. AFTER MUCH COMPLAINING (BECAUSE BRAKES AREN'T USUALLY A WARRANTY ITEM, AND THIS WAS PRIOR TO THE CLASS ACTION SETTLEMENT) THEY DID REPAIR AND REPLACE THEM FOR FREE. 1 YEAR LATER I BEGAN EXPERIENCING A SHIMMY WHEN BRAKING ON THE FREEWAY OR ESPECIALLY ON A HILL, AND WAS TOLD THEN THAT THE FRONT ROTORS ARE NOW MAGICALLY "WARPED". I DEALT WITH IT FOR A WHILE, BUT THEN RECENTLY BEGAN HEARING THE METAL ON METAL SOUND OF THE REAR PADS GOING OUT AGAIN. SURE ENOUGH, UPON TAKING TO THE DEALER WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE FROM, IT DOES IN FACT NOW NEED REAR PADS AGAIN AT 46K MILES, AS WELL AS FRONT ROTOR RESURFACING....WHICH NOW I'M ALSO TOLD YOU CAN'T USE THE FRONT PADS ANYMORE WHEN YOU RESURFACE THE ROTORS. SO ESSENTIALLY, I'M REPLACING BOTH FRONT AND REAR BRAKES(REAR BRAKES FOR THE SECOND TIME), AND RESURFACING FOR THE SECOND TIME AT ONLY 46K MILES. NATURALLY, THE HONDA SERVICE DEPARTMENT PEOPLE DON'T CARE AND WON'T COVER ANYTHING UNDER WARRANTY EVEN THOUGH THIS IS CLEARLY A WELL KNOWN HONDA DEFECT. SORRY HONDA, BUT YOU JUST LOST A CUSTOMER WHO HAS OWNED 4 HONDAS UP TO THIS POINT. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 HONDA ACCORD. WHILE LOOKING THROUGH THE SIDE AND REAR MIRRORS, THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE APPEARED TO BE CLOSER THAN IT WAS CAUSING THE DRIVERS JUDGMENT TO BE ALTERED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 0 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 24,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.

MY 09 ACCORD BEGAN MAKING HORRIBLE METAL ON METAL SCREECHING SOUND OUT OF THE BLUE AT 24,900 MILES. TOOK IT IN FOR CHECKUP AND WAS TOLD MY REAR ROTORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO MANUFACTURER ERROR CAUSED BY CALIPER SLIDES BEING FROZEN AND TOO MUCH BRAKE PRESSURE APPLIED TO REAR BRAKES. WAS TOLD BY TECHNICIAN THAT HE HAS SEEN MANY ACCORDS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM OF MANUFACTURER ERROR. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED AS I WAS NOT AND HAVE NOT BEEN MADE AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM BY HONDA.
