  10. Power train, automatic transmission, control module (tcm/pcm/tecm)Aug 4, 2011

HONDA IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2005-2010 ACCORD, 2007-2010 CR-V, AND 2005-2008 ELEMENT PASSENGER CARS MANUFACTURED FROM JULY 1, 2004, THROUGH SEPTEMBER 3, 2010. THE OUTER RACE OF THE SECONDARY SHAFT BEARING MAY BE BROKEN DURING CERTAIN DRIVING STYLES. A BROKEN OUTER RACE MAY CAUSE ABNORMAL NOISE, THE MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT TO TURN ON, AND ALLOW CONTACT BETWEEN THE TRANSMISSION IDLE GEAR AND AN ELECTRONIC SENSOR HOUSING WITHIN THE TRANSMISSION.

THIS COULD RESULT IN A SHORT CIRCUIT CAUSING THE ENGINE TO STALL. ADDITIONALLY, BROKEN PIECES OF THE OUTER RACE OR BALL BEARING FROM THE SECONDARY SHAFT MAY BECOME LODGED IN THE PARKING PAWL RESULTING IN THE VEHICLE ROLLING AFTER THE DRIVER HAS PLACED THE GEAR SELECTOR IN THE PARK POSITION. ENGINE STALL AND UNEXPECTED VEHICLE MOVEMENT INCREASES THE RISK OF A CRASH OR PERSONAL INJURY TO PERSONS WITHIN THE PATH OF A ROLLING VEHICLE.

HONDA WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND DEALERS WILL UPDATE THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE SOFTWARE FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON AUGUST 27, 2011. OWNERS MAY CONTACT HONDA AUTOMOBILE CUSTOMER SERVICE AT 1-800-999-1009.

HONDA IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2010 HONDA ACCORD AND CR-V VEHICLES. THERE IS A POTENTIAL FAILURE WITH THE ENGINE WIRING HARNESS CONNECTOR WHICH MAY CAUSE INTERMITTENT SPARK FIRING OR THE ENGINE TO STALL.

AN ENGINE STALL WILL INCREASE THE RISK OF A CRASH.

DEALER WILL INSPECT AND REPLACE THE IGNITION WIRING HARNESS CONNECTOR FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN ON OR BEFORE JANUARY 24, 2011. OWNERS MAY CONTACT HONDA AT 1-800-999-1009.

  12. SuspensionDec 16, 2010

HONDA IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2010-2011 HONDA ACCORD V6 AND MODEL YEAR 2011 HONDA PILOT VEHICLES. THE BOLTS THAT ATTACH THE LOWER LEFT AND RIGHT FRONT DAMPER BRACKET TO THE FRONT SUSPENSION AND THE SPINDLE NUTS ON THE PILOT MAY NOT HAVE BEEN PROPERLY TIGHTENED WHICH MAY RESULT IN LOSS OF STEERING. THE SPINDLE NUTS FOR THE AXLE ON THE ACCORD V6 MAY NOT HAVE BEEN TIGHTENED PROPERLY WHICH MAY RESULT IN EXCESSIVE NOISE AND/OR LOSS OF STEERING.

LOSS OF STEERING INCREASES THE RISK OF A CRASH.

DEALER WILL INSPECT AND REPLACE ANY LOOSE FRONT DAMPER BRACKET BOLTS OR SPINDLE NUTS ON THE PILOT IF NECESSARY. DEALER WILL INSPECT AND REPLACE THE SPINDLE NUTS ON THE ACCORD V6 IF NECESSARY. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN DECEMBER 23, 2010. OWNERS MAY CONTACT HONDA AT 1-800-999-1009.

  13. EquipmentNov 18, 2009

HONDA IS RECALLING AFTERMARKET FULL NOSE MASKS, PART NUMBER 08P35-TA0-100 AND 08P35-TA6-100 MANUFACTURED BETWEEN AUGUST 9, 2007 THROUGH DECEMBER 11, 2007. THE ACCESSORY WAS DESIGNED SPECIFICALLY FOR MODEL YEAR 2008-2010 HONDA ACCORD 4-DOOR VEHICLES. IT IS POSSIBLE FOR THE NOSE MASK MATERIAL TO INTERFERE WITH PART OF THE HOOD LATCH. IF THE HOOD HAS NOT BEEN COMPLETELY CLOSED AND THE NOSE MASK INTERFERES WITH THE SECONDARY HOOD LATCH MECHANISM THE HOOD MAY POP OPEN WHILE THE VEHICLE BEING DRIVEN.

THIS MAY RESULT IN REDUCED DRIVER VISIBILITY THAT COULD INCREASE THE RISK OF A CRASH.

HONDA IS ASKING OWNERS TO PLEASE REMOVE THE NOSE MASK IMMEDIATELY AND CALL ANY AUTHORIZED HONDA DEALER TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TO RETURN THE NOSE MASK AND HAVE IT REPLACED FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON MARCH 2009. OWNERS MAY CONTACT HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE AT 1-800-999-1009.

TOOK MY 2010 HONDA ACCORD INTO PRIORITY HONDA IN CHESAPEAKE, VA TO HAVE THE ROUTINE OIL CHANGE AND TIRE ROTATION DONE. I HAVE BEEN TAKING MY CAR THERE SINCE IT WAS BRAND NEW TO HAVE ALL THE SCHEDULED MAINTENANCES DONE. AT 30,000 MILES, I AM BEING TOLD I NEED REAR BRAKES AND THEY ARE ALMOST METAL-TO-METAL AND THAT HONDA WAS AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND WOULD REIMBURSE ME UP TO 150.00 OF THE REPAIR COST WHICH WAS CLOSE TO 200.00. I CALLED HONDA AUTOMOBILE CUSTOMER SERVICE TO ONLY BE TOLD BY THEM THAT MY VIN# IS NOT COVERED AND IT WAS ONLY VERY FEW 2010 ACCORDS THAT WERE AFFECTED. WHEN I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP BACK, THEY SIMPLY JUST APOLOGIZED THAT THEY HAD GIVEN ME WRONG INFORMATION, ADVISED ME THAT IT WAS NORMAL FOR REAR BRAKES TO WEAR OUT IN 30,000 MILES (WHICH I KNOW IS NOT CORRECT), AND SAID IT WAS WEAR AND TEAR AND I HAD TO PAY FOR THE COST OF REPAIRS. REALLY....THIS IS THE SECOND HONDA I HAVE PURCHASED, BUT I AM MIGHTY AFRAID IT WILL BE MY LAST AND I AM SERIOUSLY CONSIDERING TRADING IT IN FOR ANYTHING OTHER THAN A HONDA ASAP. WHAT IS ALSO VERY CONCERNING IS I SEE THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE THAT HAS HAD THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM. *TR

  2. Service brakes, Hydraulic, Aug 4, 2011

AT 28,000 MILES THE REAR BRAKES HAD TO BE REPLACED, ROTORS CUT TO THE COST OF $314.59. I BOUGHT THE CAR ON MARCH 29, 2010 BRAND NEW. JOHN IN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT MIDDLETOWN HONDA TELLS ME THE FRONT BRAKES ARE PERFECT AND THIS IS NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR ON THE REAR BRAKES- REALLY. I DRIVE HIGHWAY MILES TO AND FROM WORK, NO EXCESSIVE BRAKING SO NOT IT IS NOT NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR ON REAR BRAKES. NEVER HAD THIS KIND OF PROBLEM WITH ANY OF MY OTHER NEW CARS - NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM. THE ONLY THING I WAS ABLE TO GET FROM JOHN WAS THE 800 NUMBER TO CALL BECAUSE HE "THOUGHT" HE HAD HEARD SOMETHING ABOUT A CLASS ACTION SUIT. THOUGHT, REALLY HMMM. IN ALL MY YEARS OF DRIVING, OVER 40 YEARS, NEVER HAVE I HAD THIS KIND OF ISSUE ANY OF MY CARS NOR HAD THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT SHOW THE NONCHALANT ATTITUDE TOWARDS A CUSTOMER. REPEAT BUSINESS, I DON'T THINK SO. *TR

  3. Service brakes, Hydraulic, Structure, Jul 24, 2011

I OWN A 2010 HONDA ACCORD V6. I HAVE HAD THIS CAR FOR ONE YEAR. THE MILEAGE IS JUST OVER 18,000 MILES. WHEN I TOOK MY CAR IN FOR INSPECTION ON YESTERDAY AT THE HONDA DEALERSHIP, THEY INFORMED ME THAT MY REAR BRAKES WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED WITHIN THE NEXT THREE MONTHS. I HAVE OWNED HONDAS EVERY SINCE 1989 AND PREMATURE BRAKE WEAR HAS NEVER OCCURRED WITH ANY OF THE HONDA THAT I HAVE OWNED. PLEASE TELL ME WHAT I CAN DO TO GET SOME TYPE OF RESOLUTION FOR THIS PROBLEM. I FEEL THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE YOUR BRAKES ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IN A CAR. ALSO, THIS CAR HAS A FAULTY FRONT BUMPER. IT IS ATTACHED TO THE CAR BY SNAPS. THESE SNAPS BREAK AND THE BUMPER STARTS SEPARATING FROM THE CAR. I HAVE TAKEN IT BACK TO THE HONDA DEALERSHIP AND THEY SENT IT TO THEIR BODY SHOP BUT THE BUMPER IS STILL TRY TO SEPARATE FROM THE CAR. IF THE BUMPER COMES OFF IT COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. *TR

  4. Service brakes, Hydraulic, Jul 15, 2011

I WAS SOLD A 2010 HONDA ACCORD LAST YEAR AND I HAVE ALREADY HAD TO REPLACE THE CALIPERS, ROTORS, AND PADS ON MY REAR BRAKE ASSEMBLY. I WAS THEN TOLD BY HONDA AMERICA THAT THESE ARE 'WEAR' PARTS THAT THEY WILL NOT REIMBURSE ME FOR. I FULLY UNDERSTAND THAT BRAKES ARE WEAR PARTS BUT 'NOT AT 20,000 MILES'. IF IT IS OK FOR HONDA TO SELL BRAKING SYSTEMS THAT NEED THIS KIND OF ATTENTION SO EARLY IN LIFE, THEY SHOULD HAVE TO WARN CUSTOMERS AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE. *TT

2010 HONDA ACCORD -- REPAIR FACILITY NOTED EXCESSIVE WEAR TO REAR BRAKE PADS AT 24,000 MILES. 10% LIFE REMAINING. FRONT BRAKE AT MORE THAN 50% REMAINING LIFE. INDEPENDENT REPAIR FACILITY STRESSED EXTREME CONCERN WITH WEAR. VEHICLE BROUGHT TO HONDA FACILITY. HONDA TECHNICIAN INDICATED THAT THE WEAR WAS "NORMAL" FOR THIS MODEL VEHICLE. ATTRIBUTED WEAR TO "EXTREME DRIVING CONDITIONS" EVEN THOUGH I DO NOT RESIDE ON A MOUNTAIN OR DO EXCESSIVE HARD BRAKING. HONDA UNWILLING TO ADDRESS BRAKE WEAR UNDER WARRANTY. I BELIEVE THERE TO BE A SEVERE DEFECT. *TR

  6. Service brakes, Hydraulic, Jun 24, 2011

I TOOK MY CAR IN FOR SERVICE AND IT HAS ONLY 19000 MILES ON IT YET THEY TOLD ME MY REAR BRAKES WERE WORN AND NEED TO BE REPLACED. THERE IS A CLASS ACTION SETTLEMENT FOR THE SAME ISSUES BUT MY VIN IS NOT COVERED. I ONLY REPLACED BRAKES 3 TIMES OVER NEARLY 160,000 MILES ON THE PREVIOUS ACCORD THAT I OWNED. I BELIEVE THE BRAKES ARE DEFECTIVE. *TR

I HAVE A 2010 4 DOOR HONDA ACCORD V6 EX. WITH ONLY 28,000 MILES ON IT AND NOW MY REAR BRAKES SQUEAK INDICATING WORN BAKE PADS. THE REAR BRAKE PADS SHOULD LAST AROUND 70,000 MILES. UNFORTUNATELY MY CAR IS NOT ONE OF THE FEW 2010 VIN #S COVERED BY THE HONDA PREMATURE REAR BRAKE PADS WEAR SETTLEMENT EVEN THOUGH I HAVE THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM. I HOPE THERE WILL BE ENOUGH COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM TO EXPAND/EXTENT TO OTHER 2010 HONDA ACCORD AFFECTED BY THIS PROBLEM BUT NOT COVERED BY THE SETTLEMENT. THANKS *TR

I HAD A PERIODIC SERVICE CHECK ON MY 2010 HONDA ACCORD AT 15299 MILES, AND WAS TOLD I HAD 15% LEFT ON MY REAR BRAKES PADS. HOWEVER, I WAS ALSO TOLD MY FRONT BRAKES HAD 90% LEFT. SPEAKING TO THE SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE, HE SAID THIS WAS NOT UNUSUAL, EACH DRIVER IS DIFFERENT. HE SAID MY WARRANTY FOR THE BRAKES HAD EXPIRED. THIS MUCH WEAR ON REAR BRAKES SEEMS HIGHLY ABNORMAL. *TR

2010 HONDA ACCORD WITH THE NEW UPGRADED REAR INNER BRAKES STILL IS PREMATURELY WEARING OUT AT AROUND 20K MILES. ALL OTHER BRAKE PADS INCLUDING THE REAR OUTER ONES ARE 90% THERE HOWEVER THE REAR INNER PADS ARE COMPLETELY WORN OUT. THIS SEEMS TO BE A LARGER ISSUE THAN JUST BAD BRAKE PADS SINCE ALL OTHER PADS ARE FINE. I HAVE VERY CONCERNED THIS WILL CAUSE INSUFFICIENT BREAKING AND DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE ITSELF. *TR

THE REAR BRAKES OF THE VEHICLE, WHICH SHOULD BE FIRST REPLACED AT ABOUT 70,000 HAD TO BE REPLACED AT 25,000 AT A COST OF ABOUT $175 DUE TO A FAULTY DESIGN IN TTHAT THE BRAKES HAD EXCESS WARE BECAUSE THE BRAKING MECHANISM DIDN'T RELEASE AS THEY SHOULD. THE CAR IS ONLY ONE YEAR OLD AND MOST MILES ARE HIGHWAY MILES WITH LITTLE BRAKING. I DO NOT RIDE THE BRAKE PEDAL AND NEVER HAVE.

REAR BRAKE PADS WERE WORN UNEVENLY AT 8,000 MILES? INBOARD BRAKE PADS WORN DOWN TO < 1 MM WHERE THE INBOARD PADS WERE STILL AT 3.5 MM COSTING $ 220 BRAKE JOB. THIS WAS BROUGHT UP TO THE POWAY CALIFORNIAL HONDA SERVICE ADVISOR, SERVICE MANAGER AND SERVICE DIRECTOR WHO ALL STOOD BY THE INITIAL RESPONSE GIVEN "IT'S NORMAL". *TR

I OWN A 2010 ACCORD WITH 11000 MILES ON IT, 9 MONTHS OLD. THE REAR BRAKE PADS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE WORN OUT AND THE DEALER WONT COVER IT UNDER WARRANTY. I WAS TOLD THAT IT WILL COST $199+TAX AND I HAD TO LEAVE THE VEHICLE WITH THE SERVICE STATION FOR 3 DAYS FOR THE PART TO BE STOCKED. *TR

MY 2010 HONDA ACCORD COUPE WAS MAKING A METALLIC "SQUEALING" SOUND WHEN I APPLIED THE BRAKES (AND, EVENTUALLY, AFTER APPLYING THE BRAKES). I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALER (UNION PARK HONDA IN WILMINGTON DE) TO HAVE THE BRAKES LOOKED AT AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED "WITH AN UPDATED FACTORY PART". AFTERWARD I SAW THE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT 2008-2009 HONDA ACCORD REAR BRAKE WEAR AFTER AS LITTLE AS 15,000 MILES. MY 2010 ACCORD (WHICH WAS NOT ONE OF THE 2010'S INCLUDED IN THE CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT) HAD ALMOST IDENTICAL ISSUES. ALSO OF NOTE IS THAT THE REAR BRAKES WERE AT 1MM OF MATERIAL LEFT (OUT OF 10MM), WHILE THE FRONT BRAKES WERE AT 7MM (OUT OF 10MM), SO THIS WOULD NOT INDICATE WEAR DUE TO DRIVING CONDITIONS. *TR

2010 HONDA ACCORD EX-L 6 CYL. - BRAKE SCREECH, BRAKE SMELL AND SLIDING TO STOP (LIKE BRAKES ARE LOCKED). HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 8 TIMES - A DEFINITE LIFE-THREATENING SITUATION ON THIS VEHICLE. ALSO, AT 17,000 MILES REAR BRAKES AND ROTORS ARE COMPLETELY WORN. BRAKE NEAR-FAILURE AND SMELL OCCUR INTERMITTENTLY. 2 DEALERS "CANNOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM" AND HAVE DONE NOTHING. I HAVE ALSO CONTACTED HONDA NORTH AMERICA, WITH NO HELP THERE, EITHER. I AM SEEKING REDRESS VIA BBB AUTOLINE/CA LEMON LAW. THIS VEHICLE IS VERY UNSAFE. *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR BRAKES WOULD SCREECH WHEN THE BRAKES WERE NOT ENGAGED. WHEN HE DID ENGAGE THE BRAKES, THERE WAS A DELAYED STOPPING RESPONSE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE BRAKE SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE THE WRONG BRAKE SYSTEM WAS ORIGINALLY INSTALLED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN NOTIFIED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 16,349. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 15,000.
