  10. Power train, automatic transmission, control module (tcm/pcm/tecm)Aug 4, 2011

HONDA IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2005-2010 ACCORD, 2007-2010 CR-V, AND 2005-2008 ELEMENT PASSENGER CARS MANUFACTURED FROM JULY 1, 2004, THROUGH SEPTEMBER 3, 2010. THE OUTER RACE OF THE SECONDARY SHAFT BEARING MAY BE BROKEN DURING CERTAIN DRIVING STYLES. A BROKEN OUTER RACE MAY CAUSE ABNORMAL NOISE, THE MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT TO TURN ON, AND ALLOW CONTACT BETWEEN THE TRANSMISSION IDLE GEAR AND AN ELECTRONIC SENSOR HOUSING WITHIN THE TRANSMISSION.

THIS COULD RESULT IN A SHORT CIRCUIT CAUSING THE ENGINE TO STALL. ADDITIONALLY, BROKEN PIECES OF THE OUTER RACE OR BALL BEARING FROM THE SECONDARY SHAFT MAY BECOME LODGED IN THE PARKING PAWL RESULTING IN THE VEHICLE ROLLING AFTER THE DRIVER HAS PLACED THE GEAR SELECTOR IN THE PARK POSITION. ENGINE STALL AND UNEXPECTED VEHICLE MOVEMENT INCREASES THE RISK OF A CRASH OR PERSONAL INJURY TO PERSONS WITHIN THE PATH OF A ROLLING VEHICLE.

HONDA WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND DEALERS WILL UPDATE THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE SOFTWARE FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON AUGUST 27, 2011. OWNERS MAY CONTACT HONDA AUTOMOBILE CUSTOMER SERVICE AT 1-800-999-1009.

DEALER WILL INSPECT AND REPLACE THE IGNITION WIRING HARNESS CONNECTOR FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN ON OR BEFORE JANUARY 24, 2011. OWNERS MAY CONTACT HONDA AT 1-800-999-1009.

  12. SuspensionDec 16, 2010

HONDA IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2010-2011 HONDA ACCORD V6 AND MODEL YEAR 2011 HONDA PILOT VEHICLES. THE BOLTS THAT ATTACH THE LOWER LEFT AND RIGHT FRONT DAMPER BRACKET TO THE FRONT SUSPENSION AND THE SPINDLE NUTS ON THE PILOT MAY NOT HAVE BEEN PROPERLY TIGHTENED WHICH MAY RESULT IN LOSS OF STEERING. THE SPINDLE NUTS FOR THE AXLE ON THE ACCORD V6 MAY NOT HAVE BEEN TIGHTENED PROPERLY WHICH MAY RESULT IN EXCESSIVE NOISE AND/OR LOSS OF STEERING.

LOSS OF STEERING INCREASES THE RISK OF A CRASH.

DEALER WILL INSPECT AND REPLACE ANY LOOSE FRONT DAMPER BRACKET BOLTS OR SPINDLE NUTS ON THE PILOT IF NECESSARY. DEALER WILL INSPECT AND REPLACE THE SPINDLE NUTS ON THE ACCORD V6 IF NECESSARY. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN DECEMBER 23, 2010. OWNERS MAY CONTACT HONDA AT 1-800-999-1009.

HONDA IS RECALLING AFTERMARKET FULL NOSE MASKS, PART NUMBER 08P35-TA0-100 AND 08P35-TA6-100 MANUFACTURED BETWEEN AUGUST 9, 2007 THROUGH DECEMBER 11, 2007. THE ACCESSORY WAS DESIGNED SPECIFICALLY FOR MODEL YEAR 2008-2010 HONDA ACCORD 4-DOOR VEHICLES. IT IS POSSIBLE FOR THE NOSE MASK MATERIAL TO INTERFERE WITH PART OF THE HOOD LATCH. IF THE HOOD HAS NOT BEEN COMPLETELY CLOSED AND THE NOSE MASK INTERFERES WITH THE SECONDARY HOOD LATCH MECHANISM THE HOOD MAY POP OPEN WHILE THE VEHICLE BEING DRIVEN.

THIS MAY RESULT IN REDUCED DRIVER VISIBILITY THAT COULD INCREASE THE RISK OF A CRASH.

HONDA IS ASKING OWNERS TO PLEASE REMOVE THE NOSE MASK IMMEDIATELY AND CALL ANY AUTHORIZED HONDA DEALER TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TO RETURN THE NOSE MASK AND HAVE IT REPLACED FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON MARCH 2009. OWNERS MAY CONTACT HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE AT 1-800-999-1009.

  5. Service brakes, Apr 8, 2014

I PURCHASED MY 2010 HONDA ACCORD NEW 2/2010. I'VE COMPLETED ALL THE NECESSARY MAINTENANCE REQUIREMENTS & GET MY OIL CHANGED EVERY 3 MONTHS DESPITE WHAT HONDA RECOMMENDS. AFTER HEARING A MILD GRINDING SOUND IN THE PASSENGER REAR TIRE, I THOUGHT IT WAS SOME DIRT/PEBBLE. TO MY SURPRISE, MY MECHANIC TOLD ME MY REAR BRAKES WERE WORN DOWN & NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT 35,000 MI. MY MECHANIC SAID HE HAD SIMILAR EXPERIENCES W/ OTHER HONDA CUSTOMERS. I REPLACED THE REAR BRAKE PADS W/ AFTERMARKET BRAKE PADS BECAUSE MY MECHANIC BELIEVED THEY WERE SUPERIOR TO THE HONDA BRAKE PADS. THE FRONT BRAKES HAVE 80% LIFE. I'VE NEVER HAD TO REPLACE MY BRAKES ON MY PREVIOUS CARS W/ MILEAGE UNDER 55,000. I STARTED MY RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET AFTERWARDS & FOUND THE 2010 HONDA CLASS-ACTION LAW SUIT REGARDING THE REAR BRAKES ON SPECIFIC YRS OF THE HONDA ACCORD. HONDA WAS NOT REQUIRED TO ISSUE A RECALL ON THE REAR BRAKES. HONDA ACCORD BRAKE PADS SHOULD LAST UP TO 70,000 MILES. UNFORTUNATELY THE REPAIR DEADLINE & ELIGIBILITY INCLUDED BRAKE PADS REPLACED WITH HONDA BRAKE PADS & INSTALLATION OF THOSE BRAKE PADS WITHIN 3 YRS OF WHEN THE CAR WAS FIRST SOLD. I'VE OWNED MY ACCORD FOR 4 YRS & I REPLACED THE BRAKE PADS W/ AFTERMARKET PADS. SINCE I HAVE LITTLE RECOURSE OTHER THAN TO WRITE HONDA OR GO TO THE LOCAL SERVICE DEPT, I OPTED TO SHARE MY EXPERIENCE W/ OTHER CONSUMERS, RATHER THEN REMAIN SILENT & FRUSTRATED. I DOUBT I'LL MAKE ANY PROGRESS W/ CONTACTING HONDA. I TRULY ENJOY MY HONDA ACCORD & ITS PERFORMANCE. I AM EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED W/ HONDA & THEIR LACK OF COMMITMENT TO CUSTOMER SATISFACTION & RESOLVING AN INFERIOR PART ISSUE THAT IS CLEARLY THEIR RESPONSIBILITY AS NOTED W/ ALL THE ONLINE CUSTOMER DOCUMENTATION. HONDA HAS FORCED THEIR CUSTOMERS TO PAY FOR THEIR MISTAKE, REFUSING TO TAKE OWNERSHIP OF A COSTLY, EXTREMELY, PREMATURE AUTOMOTIVE REPAIR. *TR

I GOT MY OIL CHANGE IN APRIL/MAY - 2013 FOR MY HONDA ACCORD AND HONDA DEALER FOUND EVERYTHING GOOD AND BRAKES WERE CLOSE TO 8 (ON THE BRAKE MEASURING SCALE) ON ALL THE WHEELS. IN JUST 2 MONTHS, THE REAR BRAKE STARTED MAKING NOISE AND THEN I CAME ACROSS THE HONDA ACCORD BRAKE RECALL ISSUE. NOW I HAVE GOT THE REPAIR DONE AND SENT THE DETAILS TO HONDA. HONDA IS DENYING THE REIMBURSEMENT SAYING THAT MY CAR DOES NOT FALL IN THE RECALL CATEGORY (THEY HAVE SELECTED SOME VINS WHICH MEETS THOSE CONDITIONS). MY QUESTION IS HOW HONDA CAN DECIDE WHICH VINS HAVE THE PROBLEMS AND WHICH DOES NOT HAVE UNTIL PEOPLE REPORT THEM. ANYWAY, I AM VERY UNHAPPY WITH HONDA ABOUT NOT REIMBURSING THIS REPAIR COST. *TR

THE REAR BRAKE STARTED MAKING NOISE. WHEN I CHECKED AT THE REPAIR SHOP THEY TOLD ME THAT I NEED TO HAVE THE REAR BRAKE REPLACED. THE TOTAL COST I WAS TOLD WAS $ 305.66. THE CAR WAS APPROXIMATELY DRIVEN - 26500 MILES THAT TOO UNDER NORMAL CONDITIONS, MOSTLY ON HIGHWAYS.

I HAD TIRES ROTATED AT 36K MILES AND FIRESTONE ADVISED ME OF IRREGULAR WEAR ON MY RIGHT REAR BRAKES. THE BRAKE PAD RUBS CONSTANTLY BASED ON A CALIPER AND ROTOR MALFUNCTION. I VERIFIED RECALLS PERTAINING TO MY HONDA AND FOUND NO RELEVANT INFORMATION; HOWEVER, IT APPEARS THERE IS A PROBLEMATIC ISSUE WITH PREMATURE AND IRREGULAR WEAR. HONDA SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR FAULTY BRAKE COMPONENTS LEADING TO UNWARRANTED SAFETY VULNERABILITIES AND EXCESSIVE CONSUMER EXPENSES. *TR

WHILE PUTING REAR WHEELS ON LOCK,AND THEN ROTATING TIRES BY HAND,MAKES SOUND OF TWO METALS TOUCHING WITH EACH OTHERS,THIS EXPERIMENT MADE BY ME WHEN I NOTICED THAT MY REAR BRAKE PADS ARE WORN OUT RAPIDLY,THEN I REPLACED BRAKE PADS IN FIRE STONE, BUT PROBLEM REMAINED THE SAME,I VISITED FIRE STINE AGAIN,THEY SAID THAT IS MANUFACTURING DEFECT, THEN I FOUND OUT FROM VARIOUS ON LINE SOURSES THAT CERTAIN HONDA ACCORDS MADE DURING 2007 TO 2010 HAVE SAME DEFECT FROM FACTORY,LOOKS LIKE BRAKE ASSEMBLY LINE FROM SUPPLIER IS DEFECTIVE DURING CERTAIN PERIOD .IN SHORT REAR BRAKE PADS ALWAYS REMAINS TOUCHING WITH BRAKE PLATES WITHOUT PRESSING BRAKE PAD,NOT TOO MUCH BUT LITTLE BIT. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND THE DEALER STATED THAT THE REAR BRAKE PADS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THEY DID NOT HAVE ANY PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKES, BUT THE BRAKES HAD WORN PREMATURELY. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 18,000.

WHEN I TOOK MY AUTOMOBILE IN AT RECOMMENDED SERVICE INTERVAL THE OIL LEVEL DID NOT REGISTER ON THE DIPSTICK.THE MECHANIC SAID THE REAR SPARK PLUGS WERE FOULED BY THE OIL INDICATING THE CAR WAS BURNING OIL AT A HIGH RATE. *TR
