Recalls and investigations

  1. Electrical system, wiring, rear compartment/trunkPark outsideMay 11, 2023

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2014-2016 Jeep Cherokee vehicles equipped with a power liftgate. An electrical short in the power liftgate module may lead to a vehicle fire with the ignition on or off.

A fire while parked or driving can increase the risk of injury.

Owners are advised to park outside and away from structures until the recall repair is complete. Dealers will relocate the power liftgate module and add a water shield. In addition, dealers will inspect for corrosion and replace the module and electrical connectors, if necessary. Repairs will be performed free of charge. Owner letters were mailed March 1, 2024. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA US, LLC's number for this recall is 49A. This recall supersedes recalls 15V-393 and 15V-826. Vehicles repaired under the prior recalls will still need to have the new remedy performed.

  2. Power train, driveline, differential unitJun 11, 2020

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2014-2017 Jeep Cherokee vehicles equipped with a two-speed Power Transfer Unit (PTU). Relative movement in the Power Transfer Unit (PTU) between the differential input splines and the transmission output shaft may cause some input spline teeth to wear off, which may eventually cause a loss of engagement between the transmission and the differential inside the PTU. If this occurs, power cannot be transferred between the front wheels and the transmission which results in a loss of drive while the vehicle is in motion and a loss of the Park function while stationary.

A loss of drive can cause a vehicle crash without prior warning. A loss of the Park function can cause unintended vehicle rollaway which can increase the risk of a crash or injury.

FCA US LLC will notify owners, and dealers will perform a software update that will maintain vehicle propulsion by engaging rear wheel drive and prevent rolling in Park by activating the electronic parking brake if a failed input spline occurs. This recall began July 14, 2020. Owners may contact FCA USA LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA's number for this recall is W47.

  3. Power train, automatic transmissionJun 13, 2019

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2014 Jeep Cherokee vehicles equipped with 3.2L engines. In the event that a clutch becomes stuck in the transmission, the transmission software may shift the transmission to neutral.

An unexpected shift to neutral would result in a loss of drive, increasing the risk of crash.

Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will update the transmission software, free of charge. The recall began August 8, 2019. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is V69.

  4. Electrical system, wiringMay 17, 2018

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2014-2018 Dodge Journey, Charger and Durango, RAM 2500, 3500, 3500 Cab Chassis (more than 10,000lb), 4500 Cab Chassis and 5500 Cab Chassis, Jeep Cherokee and Grand Cherokee and Chrysler 300, 2014-2019 RAM 1500, 2015-2018 Dodge Challenger, 2015-2017 Chrysler 200, 2016-2018 RAM 3500 Cab Chassis (less than 10,000 lb), 2017-2018 Chrysler Pacifica and 2018 Jeep Wrangler vehicles. These vehicles are being recalled to address a defect that could prevent the cruise control system from disengaging. If, when using cruise control, there is a short circuit within the vehicle's wiring, the driver may not be able to shut off the cruise control either by depressing the brake pedal or manually turning the system off once it has been engaged, resulting in either the vehicle maintaining its current speed or possibly accelerating.

If the vehicle maintains its speed or accelerates despite attempts to deactivate the cruise control, there would be an increased risk of a crash.

Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the software, and perform a software flash on the engine or powertrain control module, free of charge. The recall began June 4, 2018. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Note: Owners are advised to stop using cruise control until the software update has been performed. In the event that cruise control cannot be disengaged while driving, owners should firmly and steadily apply the brakes and shift the transmission to neutral, placing the vehicle in park once it has stopped.

  5. EquipmentDec 21, 2017

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling various Dodge, Chrysler, and RAM vehicles equipped with Kidde Plastic-Handle or Push Button 'Pindicator' Fire Extinguishers. A list of the affected trailer models is available at: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2017/RMISC-17V824-0103.pdf. These extinguishers may become clogged, preventing the extinguisher from discharging as expected or requiring excessive force to activate the extinguisher. Additionally, in certain models, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury and also render the product inoperable. For a full list of the affected fire extinguisher models visit: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2017/RMISC-17E062-5427.pdf

If the fire extinguisher does not function properly, it can increase the risk of injury in the event of a fire.

Chrysler will notify owners instructing them to contact Kidde for a replacement fire extinguisher, free of charge. The recall began February 14, 2018. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403 or Kidde customer service service toll-free at 1-855-262-3540, or online at www.kidde.com and click on "Product Safety Recall" for more information. The transmission sensor clusters may have insufficient crimps in the transmission wire harness, and as a result, the transmission may unexpectedly shift to neutral. On August 29, 2016 Chrysler added the 2016 Fiat 500X vehicles to this recall.

If the vehicle unexpectedly shifts to neutral, there is an increased risk of a crash.

Chrysler will notify owners, dealers will reprogram the Powertrain Control Module and the Transmission Control Module and if necessary replace the transaxle range sensor wire harness, free of charge. The recall began on November 7, 2016. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is S55.

  1. Vehicle speed control, Feb 6, 2020

SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT SUDDENLY TURNED ON WHEN DRIVING ON A CITY STREET, WITH ALL SHIFTER LIGHTS ON. PULLED OVER AND RESTARTED ENGINE, THE LIGHT IS GONE.

  2. Power train, Feb 5, 2020

CAR HAS SERVICE PARK BRAKE ALERT LIGHT ON AND WILL NOT MOVE AT ALL. CAR WILL SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL AND WILL NOT GO BACK TO PARK UNTIL YOU MESS AROUND WITH IT FOR A FEW SECONDS. MILEAGE NUMBERS BLINKING, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON AND TRACTION LIGJT ON. PRIOR TO THIS, CAR SPEEDOMETER STARTED BLINKING CONTINUOUSLY WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. THIS IS VERY SCARY AND UNSAFE AS YOU ARE UNSURE TO WHAT IS GOING ON WITH THE CAR AS NO INDICATORS COME ON WHILE IT IS DOING IT.

  3. Power train, Feb 4, 2020

CURRENTLY MY VEHICLE IS SHOWING AN ERROR CODE FOR SERVICE SHIFTER AND ALL THE SHIFTER LIGHTS ARE ILLUMINATED. CHRYSLER JEEP IS STATING THAT THIS PART IS BACK ORDERED AND THEY CANNOT CURRENTLY REPLACE THE PART. MY VEHICLE HAS ALSO HAD MULTIPLE TRANSMISSION RELATED COMPLAINTS INCLUDING MULTIPLE HARD SHIFT REPAIR REQUESTS. FIRST YEAR OF THE OWNING THE NEW VEHICLE THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED. A RECALL WAS DONE ON 01/31 AND ON 02/01 THE CAR WOULD NOT START AND ALL ERROR CODES CAME ON. VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION WHEN SERVICE SHIFTER ERROR CODE CAME ON GOING ABOUT 40 MILES PER HOUR. I HAVE UPLOADED ALL THE SERVICE DOCUMENTS FROM THE DEALERSHIP.

  4. Power train, Feb 4, 2020

I HAVE A 14 JEEP. I WENT THROUGH BOTH RECALLS WITH IN 3 MONTHS MY TRANSMISSION STARTED SHIFTING INTO NEUTRAL RANDOMLY AROUND 40 MPH. IT THROUGH A CODE P0997 LOW VOLTAGE TO SOLENOID F. IN A DAY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WENT AWAY IN A WEEK IT CAME BACK. WENT TO DEALER PAID $1169 TO REPLACE VALVE BODY. IT NOW SHIFTS SMOOTHLY A LOT BETTER THAN IT EVER HAVE. IN MY PERSPECTIVE THE VALVE BODY POSSIBLY THE REASON THAT THE JEEPS SHIFTS HARD AND SHOULD BE RECALLED

  5. Electrical system, Electronic stability control (ESC), Engine, Feb 4, 2020

CAR SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING , ENGINE STALLS , CAR DOWNSHIFTS WHEN EXCELLERATING ON HIGHWAY . DEALER HAS REPLACED ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION, CAR STILL SHIFTS ROUGH AND HAS STARTED STALLING AGAIN

  6. Electrical system, Other or unspecified, Feb 1, 2020

THE DASHBOARD COMPLETELY GOES BLANK FOR 3 SECONDS AND THEN COMES ON WALL DRIVING. OR ENGIN COMPLETELY SHUTS OFF FOR 4 SECONDS AND THEN TURNS BACK ON WALL DRIVING

  7. Vehicle speed control, Other or unspecified, Engine, Jan 31, 2020

I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY GOING 70 MPH MY CAR STARTED BEEPING AND SAID SERVICE TRANSMISSION. RESTART IN PARK WITH VEHICLE SPEED AT ZERO. ONCE IS GAVE ME THAT MESSAGE IT WAS AS IF MY CAR WENT INTO NEUTRAL AND IT WOULDN'T LET ME SPEED UP OR ANYTHING NO MATTER HOW MUCH I PUSHED ON THE GAS. I WAS IN THE MIDDLE LANE AND MY SPEED KEPT DECREASING AND I ALMOST GOT HIT 3 TIMES TRYING TO GET OVER TO RESTART MY CAR. ONCE I FINALLY GOT OVER I HAD TO TURN MY CAR OFF AND RESTART IT. I HAVE HAD THIS HAPPEN MORE THAN ONCE AND I'M TERRIFIED I'M GOING TO BE IN A HORRIBLE ACCIDENT.

  8. Power train, Jan 31, 2020

IT IS JERKING AND HARD SHIFTING EVEN WITH A NEW TRANSMISSION. I HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM SINCE THE PURCHASE OF THE VEHICLE. AFTER REPAIR AND REPLACEMENT OF NEW TRANSMISSION IT IS STILL HAPPENING.

  9. Electrical system, Service brakes, Jan 30, 2020

I WAS GETTING GAS AND WHEN I WENT TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN DRIVE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE ENABLED, WITH THE LIGHT BLINKING. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO TURN IT OFF, FINALLY IT DISLODGED. WHILE I WAS ATTEMPTING TO DISLODGE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE, I HAPPENED TO BE AT THE GAS STATION WHERE MY MECHANIC IS, WHO I USE FOR OIL CHANGES AND MINOR MAINTENANCE. HE OPENED MY TRUNK AND NOTICED CRACKS IN THE FRAME, AND THE ENTIRE SPARE TIRE WHEEL WELL WAS FILLED WITH WATER. HE ADVISED ME TO TAKE THE CAR DIRECTLY TO JEEP AND THAT THEY NEEDED TO FIX THIS, IT WAS HIS OPINION THIS WAS A SAFETY MANUFACTURING DEFECT. I TOOK THE CAR TO JEEP, WHO INFORMED ME MY CAR WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THEY WOULD BE CHARGING ME FOR THIS. I CONTACTED CORPORATE JEEP, WHO UNFORTUNATELY RELIES ON THEIR DEALERSHIPS TO ADVISE THEM. CORPORATE FINALLY TOLD ME THAT AFTER THREE WEEKS OF THE JEEP DEALERSHIP HAVING MY CAR, THEY WOULD NOT BE COVERING THE ISSUE DUE TO A FRONT END ACCIDENT FROM 2015. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE BODY SHOP WHO FIXED THE CAR FROM THAT ACCIDENT AND RECEIVED HIS EXPERT OPINION THAT THIS WAS ALL ORIGINAL, NEVER FIXED AND THERE WAS NO WAY THE ACCIDENT COULD HAVE CAUSED THIS. HE REITERATED THAT THE DEALERSHIP SHOULD RECTIFY THIS ISSUE SINCE IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND A MANUFACTURING DEFECT. THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE GASKET AND THERE IS NO OTHER WAY, IN HIS OPINION, FOR WATER TO ENTER THE SPARE WHEEL WELL AND AFFECT THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. THE CAR IS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALERSHIP, THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WILL NOT DISLODGE. JEEP NEEDS TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THIS.

  10. Power train, Electronic stability control (ESC), Service brakes, Jan 26, 2020

VEHICLE DOES NOT GO WHILE ON INCLINE AT A STOP, REVS TO 3K RPM THEN WILL SPIN OUT TIRES. DELAYED START AT STOP LIGHTS AND SPEED UPS. HAD RECALL DONE SOFTWARE UPGRADE TWICE, DRIVES FINE FOR A COUPLE WEEKS THEN BACK TO IT. HAD NUMEROUS CLOSE CALLS WHILE PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC HAVE TO LET OFF GAS AND ACCEL AGAIN AND PRAY IT GOES...

  11. Air bags, Structure, Other or unspecified, Jan 26, 2020, crash

I WAS IN AN ACCIDENT SEVERE ENOUGH TO TOTAL THE VEHICLE BUT NONE OF THE MANY AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. I REAR ENDED A VEHICLE ON THE FREEWAY. I WAS JUST CONCERNED SINCE I AM UNAWARE WHAT SPEED I WAS GOING AT THE POINT OF IMPACT. THE FRONT OF MY VEHICLE WAS PUSHED BACK TOWARD THE WINDSHEILD PRETTY FAR. UNFORTUNATELY, I DON'T HAVE ANY PICTURES. I JUST WANTED TO EXPRESS MY CONCERNS. WE DID TEST THE CAR AND THERE APARENTLY NO FAILURE OF THE AIR BAG SYSTEM, SO MAYBE NO PROBLEM.

MY JEEP SPUTTERS AND DIES AFTER GAS FILL UP. VERY DANGEROUS AS IT HAPPENS AT RANDOM AND HAS SCARED MY FAMILY AS TRUCKS BARE DOWN ON US AS WE ARE STALLED IN THE ROAD UNABLE TO GET CAR TO RESTART. ABOUT 1 TO 3 MILES AFTER FILL UP THE PROBLEM DISAPPEARS UNTIL NEXT GAS FILL. PLEASE ISSUE RECALL BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED. IN MOTION CAR IS SPUTTERING AND UNABLE TO GAIN SPEED. ONCE AT A STOP CAR IMMEDIATELY DIES LOCKING ALL POWER FUNCTIONS AND IS DIFFICULT TO RESTART. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES.

I PURCHASED MY CAR ON 10/1/19 WITH 98,000 MILES. A FEW SHORT DAYS LATER MY CAR STARTED DRIVING HORRIBLE. SHAKING,BUCKING, JERKING, HESITATING TO ACCELERATE AND SHIFT AND MY ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WHILE DRIVING, SCANNED IT AND WAS SHOWING P0520 OIL PRESSURE SENSOR. THAT WAS REPLACED. CAR WAS STILL DRIVING THE SAME AND 3 DAYS LATER WHILE DRIVING MY ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN, THIS TIME CODE P06DD. BROUGHT MY CAR TO THE MECHANIC WHERE HE HAD IT 3 WEEK. MY OIL PUMP WAS REPLACED WITH A NEW OEM PUMP. THE VERY NEXT DAY WHILE DRIVING MY ENGINE LIGHT WENT ON AGAIN, THROWING THE SAME CODE P06DD. BROUGHT BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE MY CAR WAS LOW 2 QUARTS OF OIL. WAS TOLD TO BRING IT TO JEEP FOR RECALL AND DIAGNOSIS. JEEP HAS MY CAR FOR 4 DAYS, COMPLETED THE RECALL BUT WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE MY CAR. UPON LEAVING THE JEEP DEALER MY ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK ON AND NOW MY CAR WAS STUCK IN SAFE MODE AND WOULD NOT GO OVER 60MPH. I BROUGHT MY CAR BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE I PURCHASED IT. THEY HAD MY CAR FOR TWO WEEKS AND REPLACED MY ENGINE. I PICKED MY CAR UP ON 12/6/19 FROM THE DEALER I PURCHASED FROM, WHO JUST REPLACED MY ENGINE. WITH A NEW ENGINE, THE CAR IS STILL NOT DRIVING RIGHT. IT IS STILL SHAKING,BUCKING, JERKING, HESITATING TO ACCELERATE, HESITATING TO SHIFT OUT OF ALL GEARS. I HAD MY TIRES BALANCED 2 TIMES.ON 1/13/2020 MY CAR WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WENT INTO SAFE MODE AGAIN. NOT GOING OVER 60MPH. THIS TIME NO ENGINE LIGHTS ARE ON. I BROUGHT IT BACK TO THE DEALER I PURCHASED FROM, THEY HOOKED UP THE COMPUTER..WHICH SHOWED NO CODES. IT TOOK MY CAR OUT OF SAFE MODE BUT DID NOT FIX ANY OF THE PROBLEMS I'M HAVING. TODAY, 1/21/20 MY CAR WENT BACK INTO SAFE MODE WHILE DRIVING. WILL NOT GO OVER 60MPH AND THERE ARE NO LIGHTS ON THE DASH SHOWING THERE IS A PROBLEM. THIS CAR IS NOT SAFE. I AM A SINGLE MOM WITH 2 KIDS AND I WILL NOT JEOPARDIZE MINE OR THEIR LIVES IN THIS VEHICLE.

WE PURCHASED THE 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE TRAILHAWK IN 2015. WE HAVE COMPLAINED NUMEROUS TIMES TO THE LOCAL JEEP DEALERSHIP REGARDING THE TRANSMISSION LUNGING FORWARD, DOWNSHIFTING HARD OR BASICALLY ROUGH SHIFTING. THEY TOLD ME ON ALL OF THOSE OCCASIONS AFTER LOOKING AT THE VEHICLE THAT IS WAS NORMAL AND PROBABLY USER ERROR. WE TOOK THE VEHICLE IN FOR THE NUMEROUS RECALLS REGARDING THE TRANSMISSION. WAS TOLD SEVERAL TIMES IT WAS FIXED AND THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE TRANSMISSION. NOW THAT THE CAR IS OUT OR WARRANTY, IT NEEDS A NEW TRANSMISSION. THIS WAS TOLD TO ME AFTER THEY DIAGNOSED IT WITH AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE IN THE TRANSMISSION THAT COULD BE FIXED FOR $1200. NOW THEY SAY THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. I FEEL LET DOWN AND DISGUSTED WITH THE DEALERSHIP AND JEEP AS A WHOLE. I AM NOT SURE WHAT I CAN DO AT THIS POINT AS I WAS LISTENING TO THE JEEP DEALERSHIP REGARDING THIS ISSUE.

  19. Engine, Fuel/propulsion system, Jan 19, 2020

AFTER FILLING GAS TANK, JEEP WILL UNEXPECTEDLY LOSE POWER AND SHUT OFF. THIS HAPPENS SEVERAL TIMES. ACCELERATING AND PUMPING GAS TO KEEP IT RUNNING WILL SPEED THE PROCESS OF RETURNING TO NORMAL OPERATION. GAS IS NEVER OVERFILLED. ONCE PUMP SHUTS OFF NO ADDITIONAL FUEL IS ADDED AT PUMP. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP. THEY CHARGED OVER 900 TO REPLACE THE ECM. PROBLEM REPEATED ON NEXT FILL UP. THIS PROBLEM IS WIDELY REPORTED ON THE INTERNET EVEN THOUGH DEALERSHIP DENIES ANY KNOWLEDGE OF PROBLEM

  20. Steering, Jan 19, 2020

AS I WAS COMING HOME FROM WORK AROUND 9PM I WAS DRIVING DOWN A COUNTY STREET WHEN THE ENGINE LIGHT, TRACTION CONTROL AND POWER STEERING LIGHT CAME ON BUT THE POWER STEERING LIGHT WENT OFF AT SOME POINT, BUT AS I APPROACHED A CURVY BRIDGE I HAD TO SLIGHTLY TURN WHEEL TO THE RIGHT TO FOLLOW THE CURVE, BUT THE STEERING WHEEL FELT HARD LIKE I COULDNT FULLY STEER THE STEERING WHEEL. IT WAS VERY SCARY AS AGAIN IT WAS ON A CURVY BRIDGE AND VERY DARK ON THIS ROADWAY. WAS ABLE TO GET HOME SAFELY BUT ENGINE AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT STAYED ON. NEXT DAY MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING DOWN THE STREET TO MY PARENTS HOUSE WHEN AS HE BACKED OUT OF OUR DRIVEWAY THE WHEEL LOCKED AND HE COULDNT STEER. SHUT CAR OFF AND RESTARTED AND TURNED THE CORNER ONLY TO HAVE IT COMPLETELY LOCK AGAIN AS HE TRIED TO TURN THE CORNER AND CAR JUST DIED. WAITED A FEW MINUTES AND CAR RESTARTED AND WAS JUST BARELY ABLE TO GET THE CAR TO MY MOMS WHERE IT SHUT DOWN AGAIN AND HE HAD TO LEAVE THERE.THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS STILL ON FROM THE NIGHT BEFORE.

WHEN WE STARTED TO ACCELERATE THE JEEP JERKED INTO GEAR. WE STARTED TO HEAR A CLANKING NOISE AND SOUNDED LIKE A PART WAS RATTLING. SINCE IT DID NOT SOUND GOOD WE PULLED OVER AND CALLED A TOW TRUCK TO TOW IT TO THE DEALERSHIP NEAREST TO US. AFTER THE INSPECTION, THE DEALERSHIP TOLD US THAT THE PTU ON OUR 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE WAS BUSTED AND THE CAR IS NO LONGER ABLE TO BE DRIVEN. PRIOR TO THIS EVENT WE TOOK THE JEEP INTO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES TELLING THEM THAT WHEN WE ACCELERATE IT JERKS INTO GEAR. THEY TOLD US THAT THREE UPDATES NEED TO BE DONE ON THE SOFTWARE OF THE VEHICLE. WE WERE TOLD THAT THE UPDATES HAS TO DO WITH THE COMMUNICATION OF THE TRANSMISSION AND THE PARTS THAT ARE INVOLVED WHEN YOU ACCELERATE THE VEHICLE. AFTER WE COMPLETED THE UPDATES THE JEEP DROVE SMOOTH BUT THEN STARTED JERKING AGAIN SHORTLY AFTER. NOW THE COST OF REPLACING THE PTU IS OVER $2000. WE HAVE READ MULTIPLE FORUMS AND FEEDBACK FROM OTHER 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE CUSTOMERS THAT HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. I HAVE COME TO THE CONCLUSION THAT THIS IS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT AND THIS SHOULD BE COVERED BY CHRYSLER.

THE RADIO RECEPTION HAS WAXED AND WANED SINCE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. I HAVE ANOTHER VEHICLE AND THE PARALLEL RECEPTION BETWEEN THE 2 IS NOT COMPARABLE....THE 2014 JEEP IS VERY POOR IN ITS ABILITY TO PROVIDE ADEQUATE RADIO INFORMATION FROM EVEN NEARBY STATIONS. I'M NOT SURE THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE...MORE OF A QUALITY ISSUE FOR THE MANUFACTURER..ALSO, A BLATANT MISREPRESENTATION BY THE SALES PEOPLE. WHEN THE CAR IS STOPPED ON ANY KIND OF INCLINE, THE CAR INITIALLY WILL NOT ACCELERATE WHEN THE ACCELERATOR IS PUSHED. INCREASED PRESSURE RESULTS IN A CLUNKING SOUND AND A JACK-RABBIT ACCELERATION, VERY DANGEROUS, ESPECIALLY IF I TURN RIGHT OR LEFT FROM AN INCLINED STOP. IT WAS LAST REPROGRAMMED DUE TO A RECALL IN DECEMBER, 2020. THE CAR HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER TWICE FOR REPROGRAMMING OF THE CVT. EACH TIME THE CONDITION IMPROVES FOR 100-200 MILES, THEN RETURNS TO ITS FORMER CONDITION AND RESULTING PROBLEMS AS DESCRIBED ABOVE. THE AVERAGE MPG ALSO FLUCTUATES BY AS MUCH AS 10 MPG DURING THE PROCESS.
