2013 Grand Cherokee: Driving on highway, battery indicator came up on dashboard, all dashboard lights started flashing, windshield wipers turned on, and the car abruptly stalled in the middle of the highway. Inside hood, alternator smoking as if it was going to ignite. Alternator, battery, wire harness, fuse box, computer: all fried. Expensive repair. Problems line up with exactly this existing recall NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID: 17V435000 "If the alternator fails, the vehicle may stall without warning, increasing the risk of a crash. There is also the possibility that the alternator may short circuit, increasing the risk of a fire." Jeep/Chrysler already fixed this recall on this specific car in 2018. According to dealership the warranty for repair is 2 years. Jeep is allegedly "fixing" these cars resulting in the recall consequence to happen regardless. Looking into this issue online it seems I am not the only person to experience this. Jeep/Chrysler needs to open the recall back up as there are unsafe cars on the road unbeknownst to drivers. In addition to this there is an existing recall-NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID: 19V813000- fuel pump relay, which can result in the car suddenly stalling and causing an accident. I have been trying for two years to get this repaired by various Jeep dealerships. They claim there is a limited amount of parts. I have been informed numerous times that if the car stalls as a result of that recall they will reimburse the repair, which indicates there isn't a shortage on the part. Jeep is dragging their feet leaving unsafe cars on the road.

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and diagnosed as compression leaks and cylinder head failure. The mechanic referred the contact to the dealer. The VIN was not included in the extended warranty and the contact was referred to the manufacturer. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA. The failure mileage was approximately 128,000.

The vehicle engine stalls while driving. The electrical remains on, however the engine stalls. My safety is put in risk because this happens while driving on the highway and normal streets. I have taken it to the dealer (Glendale Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram 10070 Manchester Road, St. Louis, Mo. 63122 (3140 965-5100) they claimed to have never heard of this issue, but informed me there was a recall on the Fuel Pump Relay. They replaced, however the issue continues and they claim they cannot figure out the problem. I did receive a letter from FCA-Fiat Chrysler Automobiles regarding the recal-P54(NHTSA14V-530) or safety recall R09 (NHTSA 15V-115). The engine will re-start after about 15 minutes and drives fine until the next time it stalls, which has become more frequent. There is no warning when the engine will stall, it just stops running. This problem has been going on now for over a year with the stalling becoming more frequent.

The passenger side front seat active headrest disengaged while the vehicle was not in motion. My son was hit in the head but not seriously injured. The car has not been inspected by a dealer. I'm reporting this incident because a dealer will charge a fee to assess the failure and my online research has identified many similar failures without Chrysler accepting responsibility for the defect.

I cannot get this fixed. I have been 30th on the list since January and the dealer tells me they only get 1 part every so often. On July 15, 2021, I was driving my vehicle 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee in my town. My daughter was sitting in the front seat of the vehicle. As I was driving, the passenger headrest deployed unexpectedly for no reason. I heard a loud pop and then my daughter scream as the headrest hit her in the back of the head. She was not injured. I have no idea why this occurred. I went home and researched this online and discovered several articles in which similar incidents have occurred with other people in similar vehicles. I contacted the dealership to see if they were any recalls for this particular issue and I was told no. Also, the representative from the dealership told me they had talked with a supervisor and did not know what I was talking about.
Other or unspecified, Jul 14, 2021
The active head restraint on the driver side deployed while stopped. There was no rear end collision. It hit me in the back of the head and startled me, glad I was stopped. There seams to be a defect in the plastic parts in the head rest where the metal bar in there is installed. This certainly could have caused an accident if I was in motion on they highway and was distracted by this sudden deployment.

Both the front driver and front passenger headrests have deployed in the past 1 year; however, the vehicle was not involved in an accident or collision to cause such deployment. The vehicle was parked when each headrest deployed. This is clearly a defect of the vehicle. The Jeep dealership estimated the cost to repair at approximately $800 per headrest, which I will not pay, because this is not an issue caused by me. It is a vehicle defect, and needs to be recalled immediately as evidenced by the many news articles online related to this topic. It is very dangerous and could cause serious harm to someone.
