When raining the water will leak throug the sunroof or headliner not sure where it comes through but it comes from 2 places one hitting the arm rest / middle console which caused the terrain selection to go out and im worried it will cause the screen or something else to go out and catch on fire as I read it is common with these problems , when I purchased the vehicle as well they said it was just a frozen trunk gate spring but once I looked up the problem happening it is said to cause the gate to go out

The manufacturer was contacted, but no additional assistance was provided. The contact stated that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number 23V411000 (Engine and Engine Cooling) and 22V406000 (Fuel System, Diesel). The failure mileage was approximately 143,000.
Power train, Engine, Mar 1, 2024
Th cylinder has low compression causing misfire in the vehicle. The misfire can cause the vehicle to lose power. If you lose power on a highway it could cause an accident. This has not happened to me, but I have read the cyinder issue is a common problem with the 2015 jeep grand cherokee Seems like bad parts. A mechanic has ascertained the problem with my vehicle. If this is a common problem why has the manufacturer not fixed the problem and inspected these parts?
Power train, Other or unspecified, Engine, Feb 27, 2024
Driving on highway 290 West near Waller. At 75mph I attempted to pass slower traffic by accelerating after moving into the farthest left (passing) lane when my Jeep lost power. Had to maneuver while coasting between traffic in lanes (frogger anyone?) to farthest right lane by coasting through to an exit by chance. Would not restart while coasting. Traffic line formed behind me for those also seeking same exit I needed at the last second. I was unable to fully move into shoulder because of debris seen and fear of damage to tires. After coasting to a full stop a quarter mile from Love's Truckstop, put vehicle in park, and was able to restart after hesitation. Engine light on with my reader stating "confirmed" codes P0336, U1401; and a "pending" code of P05ED. Now takes 3-5 seconds to start when used to be "instantly." In a nutshell, this was not fun. :| Note to manufacturer , please stop skimping out on quality.
Seat belts, Feb 21, 2024
The seat belt will not latch properly, it can take up to 10 minutes or longer fasten the driver's side seat belt. Now that I have it locked, I have to crawl in and out of the seat belt. I dare not unlock the seat belt in fear that I will not be able to get it to lock back. Please note, each time I have locked and unlocked the seat belt it has progressively gotten worse to lock the seat belt. I am at the point where I now longer unlock my seat belt, as I states earlier, I fear that I will not be able to lock it back.

The active headrest deployed while I was driving on [XXX] returning home from work this evening. I was very fortunate not to hit the truck next to me or run off of the road as the force of the blow was enough to thrust my head forward and make me see stars. I was able to pull over and after about 10 minutes I was able to see clearly and was no longer too dizzy to drive. This malfunction is extreme dangerous and could very easily result in severe injury or loss of life due to causing a crash. I will be following up with my physician as I suspect the force I felt was certainly enough to cause a concussion. Jeep needs to recall every single vehicle with these headrests and correct the issue. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Seat belts, Feb 19, 2024
My passenger side seatbelt does not retract. The plastic “D” ring at the top is broken and it causes the seat belt to not retract. I have read that many people have this issue. I contacted my dealer and they said there was no recall on this part. Because it does not retract, it doesn’t “catch” and causes a safety hazard. A passenger would not be restrained in an accident.
Exterior lighting, Feb 11, 2024
High beams are not activating when enabled from the steering column. Both automatic and manual switches for the vehicles high beams do not enable the lighting in front of the car. The odometer also does not signal the high beams are active in this scenario as well.

Driver's seat - headrest burst apart, airbag did not deploy. No accident, clips somehow broke and headrest is separated with airbag and internal components visible. Not sure when this happened and/or if we were even in the car. Reporting today because we had other service performed on vehicle and asked automotive shop to look at headrest. I googled this and came across others who recommended reporting to you.

The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated while his wife was driving 70 MPH, the transmission shifted into neutral, and the engine stopped. The contact's wife was able to coast off the highway while in neutral. Once on the side of the road, the vehicle shifted into park without warning. There was no warning light illuminated; however, a message to check electronic braking system was briefly displayed. The vehicle was restarted, and the contact’s wife drove the vehicle to the residence. The vehicle was then driven to the dealer, but the dealer could not duplicate the failure. The contact and his wife drove the vehicle several times and the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was towed back to the dealer and a diagnostic test was performed. The contact was informed that the ECM was inoperable. The vehicle was repaired but the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, and the contact was informed that the battery was not fully charged; the battery was re-charged. The contact stated that the vehicle continued to downshift while driving and the vehicle was taken back to the dealer again and the contact was informed that the right front bracket was loose, and the bracket was tightened. The dealer determined that the vehicle was operating as designed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 103,500.
Seat belts, Jan 29, 2024
The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving 15 MPH at night on a road construction site, the vehicle's front end suddenly declined on a 10 ft deep road surface. The contact stated that she immediately depressed the brake pedal; however, the front driver's side seat belt failed to restrain her as needed, and she hit her head against the steering wheel. The contact was able to exit the vehicle. The contact sustained a concussion and two black eyes but did not receive medical assistance. The vehicle was towed to a tow lot. The contact then drove the vehicle to the residence. The contact stated that the failure occurred due to the seat belt D-ring wear. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the front driver's side seat belt assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 123,000.

I have been trying to get this recall fixed for over two years not. I have received over four notices from FCA via US Mail. Each time I go to the dealer, Planet Jeep, in Flagstaff, AZ I am told that there are no parts available and they cannot do anything. The first three times I was told that I would be put on waiting list however when I checked last week they said there is no record of me even commig in for it. I tried to call FCA directly on the phone number listed to call for help with the recall. The FCA rep said all I need to do is go into the dealer to get it fixed. I explained to her the issue and she put me on hold and called dealer directly. The dealer at Planet Jeep stated same thing, there are no parts available and I would be put on a list. I asked FCA if I could escalate this and she said there is no recourse for recall issues. I want to sell my Jeep however no one will purchase when I disclose the missing recall which is the high pressure fuels system and very serious as there have been issues of vehicles stalling on the freeway speeds and causing accidents. I think two years and several attempts to fix this is unreasonable. I am requesting your assistance.

The rear lift gate automatically closes after being raised to the open position. It descends with considerable force and has struck me in the head on multiple occasions. Despite discussing the matter with the Jeep dealership, I was informed that there is no active recall for this specific issue on my vehicle. However, safety recalls have been issued for similar issues in other vehicles of the same class but different model years. I am genuinely worried about the safety implications of this problem and am disappointed that Jeep has not recognized and addressed it.
Seats, Jan 2, 2024
The clips inside the headrest spontaneously broke in the passenger headrest separating the soft cushion from the plastic backing, which pushes the headrest 2-3 inches towards the dashboard. This car had never been in a accident of any kind. My wife was in the seat while it happened driving down the road. There were no warning lamps, alerts of any kind. This has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance. I can see the broken clips because it is spring loaded and I assumed if it popped out so easily then I could just compress is back into place, but instead I see 2 broken plastic clips. This now makes it so your seat has to be reclined or your head is pushed forward putting you in an odd position to sit in. I have read on several forums about this issue happening to others and there not being a recall or service bulletin. This is the same headrest as the driverside headrest and I fear this will happen while my wife is driving (this is her daily driver) and will cause a crash. I have included 3 pictures. 1 is zoomed out to show what it looks like, 1 is of the internal area where the breaks are and 1 is marked up of the internal area highlighting the two areas that broken. The internal pictures show the break, the springs that push it forward, which are there so in the event of a crash they reduce the head movement which will no longer happen causing more injury.

The Active Head Restraint deployed without any known prior accidents and has been known to deploy unexpectedly while driving causing whiplash and neck injuries. The passenger AHR was deployed when I purchased it used from dealer. Having moderate to severe neck deterioration myself I am extremely concerned of it causing life threatening injury or death as it has been reported by other owners to deploy while driving down the road and hitting them in the back of the head "like a baseball bat to the back of the head" as one owner described.

The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated while driving 15 MPH, the vehicle was jerking and lost motive power. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact pulled off the road and contacted the dealer. The contact stated that the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed; however, the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 145,000.

Other or unspecified, Dec 16, 2023
Was driving along normally and came to a stop and heard a big pile at the back of the car followed by a crinkling noise as I realized the rear glass was beginning to shatter. I looked at the person behind me to see if they may have seen something but they appeared to be completely unaware. I looked around to see if anything could have hit the glass but there was no evidence of that. About 20 minutes earlier I had used the rear defrost and that's the only thing I could think of that would have potentially cause the issue.
Power train, Dec 14, 2023
The car will shift into neutral and become undrivable. Had car towed and they say the part is a transmission control module/valve body #R8259301AC. They say this is a common problem for this model and have had many complaints of same issue. It has been 3 months and the part is not available. This seems to be a very serious and common safety issue.
Engine, Fuel/propulsion system, Dec 14, 2023
While returning home from vacation, the high pressure fuel pump on my vehicle failed. This happened while in heavy traffic traveling 70mph on I-95. This incident left myself, my husband, and my four month old infant at the time stranded on the I-95 shoulder in 90 degree heat for three hours. My husband was barely able to maneuver the vehicle to the shoulder after all power was lost and the car was billowing smoke. The problem was confirmed by the dealer. The dealer inspected and replaced the high pressure fuel pump and other fuel system components four months later but failed to inspect other engine components for damage related to the high pressure fuel pump failing. Because of the lack of thorough inspection, when the service person at the dealer started the engine again, the engine completely failed. The dealer and Jeep are refusing to honor the recall and repair my engine due to a recalled item failing. Prior to the high pressure fuel pump imploding and ripping shrapnel through the entire fuel system and engine, a yellow check engine light came on. While trying to find a safe place to pull over while traveling 70mph in heavy traffic on I-95, diesel began pouring out of the bottom of the vehicle, smoke started billowing out of the engine, a handful of warning lights flashed across the screen, and all power was lost to the car. This happened in less than approximately 5mins/10miles from the yellow check engine light initially appearing. Prior to this incident, there were no sounds or warning signs that there was something internally wrong with the engine.

The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V406000 (Fuel System, Diesel) however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The local dealer was contacted, and it was confirmed that the part was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure regarding the recall. In addition, the contact stated that the rear power liftgate door latch had malfunctioned and the rear liftgate door failed to remain securely locked. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were not yet contacted regarding the failure. The contact stated that the vehicle was previously repaired for the same failure. The failure mileage was 118,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
