Air bags, frontal, driver clockspring/spiral cassetteMar 14, 2024
Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) (Stellantis) is recalling certain right hand drive 2016 Jeep Wrangler vehicles. Debris contamination may cause the clockspring to fail, preventing the driver's air bag from deploying in a crash.
An air bag that does not deploy in a crash can increase the risk of injury.
Dealers will replace the clockspring, steering wheel back cover, and steering column shrouds, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 4, 2024. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA US, LLC's number for this recall is 27B.

Seat belts, front, anchorageSep 26, 2019
Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2011-2018 Jeep Wrangler right hand drive vehicles. The driver's seat belt buckle mounting strap may fracture and separate from the seat frame.
A separated or severed seat belt buckle strap will result in an inoperable seat belt, increasing the risk of injury in the event of a crash.
FCA US will notify owners, and dealers will replace the driver's seat belt buckle, free of charge. Interim notices informing owners of the safety risk were mailed November 19, 2019. Owners will received a second letter and the recall began March 26, 2020. Owners may contact FCA customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA's number for this recall is VA6.

Air bags, frontal, passenger side, inflator moduleDo not drive until repairedJan 15, 2019
Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2010 Dodge Ram 3500, Ram 4500/5500, 2010-2011 Dodge Dakota, 2010-2014 Dodge Challenger, 2010-2015 Dodge Challenger, Chrysler 300, and 2010-2016 Jeep Wrangler vehicles. Upon deployment of the driver's frontal air bag, excessive internal pressure may cause the inflator to explode.
In the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the passenger's frontal air bag, the inflator could explode with metal fragments striking the vehicle occupants potentially resulting in serious injury or death.
Owners are advised not to drive their vehicle until the recall repair is complete. Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will replace the passenger frontal air bag inflator, free of charge. The recall began February 4, 2019. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is V01.

Air bags, frontal, sensor/control module-inactiveOct 13, 2016
Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain model year 2016-2017 Jeep Wrangler vehicles manufactured June 16, 2015, to August 14, 2016. In certain crash conditions, the front impact sensor wiring may be pulled until it detaches before a signal can be received by the Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC).
If the ORC module does not receive a signal from the front impact sensor, both frontal air bags and the seat belt pretensioners will not deploy in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of injury.
Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will reroute the front impact sensor wiring and relocate the impact sensor branch, free of charge. The recall began on November 10, 2016. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is S76.

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain model year 2011-2016 Right Hand Drive Jeep Wrangler vehicles manufactured February 16, 2010, to May 2, 2016. The clockspring assembly may become contaminated with dust and cause the air bag circuit to fail.
Failure of the air bag circuit may prevent the driver's frontal air bag from deploying in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of injury.

The ABS control module has internal problem which shuts down the module. Results of the module shut down includes: -The stability and traction systems are offline. -A failure in the ABS module or hydraulic unit. -Cruise Control inoperable. -The module no longer modulates brake pressure, which can result in brakes locking. Currently, Mopar has stopped production of this item, so there is no method to replace a failed or non-working module with an original part.

I have a 2016 jeep wrangler and I was trying to get it fixed but the dealership said it was the abs module and that they could not get one in because they are on back order because they warehouse that provides the chips for them burned down. I was then told that it is not promised to when they will be available and then they tried to turn around and ask me did I want to trade it in. So now I am stuck still paying for the jeep and I can not drive it because of the abs module. I understand life happens but the manufacture should have called a recall or something because people are not going to be able to drive their vehicles but still have to pay for them and I am sure no one wants to start over on a new vehicle when they have paid so much on their current one.
Electrical system, Other or unspecified, Engine, Feb 21, 2026, fire
While driving my vehicle on Monday, February 16, 2026 I heard a loud pop come from the front of the vehicle. Right after that smoke began to come through the hood vents. I stopped the vehicle to inspect and at that point the engine compartment was burning heavily. I could barely get out of the vehicle and away before the whole front end of the vehicle was engulfed with fire and heavy black smoke. It looked as if the fire started somewhere on the righthand side of the engine compartment because the right front tire was the first to blow out in the fire. The vehicle is with the insurance company to inspect, but it was in perfect running condition, all maintenance performed. There were no dash warning lights that came on, no odd sounds heard and the vehicle ran until I stopped and shut it office. There has to be something that was wrong with the manufacturing of this specific engine to make a loud pop and burn as hot as it did. I wanted to report this before the vehicle is sent away to be demolished due to it being a complete loss.

Anti Lock Brake Control Module (C2200). Cannot get part anywhere, on vehicle appears codes preventing cruise control and other safety issues
Electrical system, Other or unspecified, Service brakes, Aug 4, 2025
ABS control module cannot get the part so i would think this would be a safety issue because abs is not working. I know alot of other people who have a jeep have the same proplem my part has been on back order for 4 months now. So I'm concerned about not having ABS thank you
Other or unspecified, Apr 1, 2025
ABS control module has been out for almost 2 years. Jeep will not make/replace this part, although promised it would become available for this entire 2 year timeframe.

There is a current recall for the RHD version of my Jeep for the clockspring. The bad clockspring causes many issues including air bag deployment issues. This issue does also affect the LHD. I’m currently dealing with it myself.

The airbag light came on, then went off. This happened for a while, meanwhile, the horn stopped working and the controls in the steering wheel were incapable of anything for the radio. I was informed it was a bad steering clock spring and it needed to be replaced. Part # 5156106AG We searched for a recall, and there is one for the 2016 Jeep Wrangler for a failing steering clock spring, only my car’s vin number didn’t match the recall. It appears the previous owner had an issue with the airbags, that was subsequently repaired before I owned this vehicle. I believe it was repaired incorrectly, or is still faulty, as it is broken once again. The coincidence of this being recalled for the same make and model, but not for my specific vehicle is difficult to comprehend. What automobile has more than one need to repair airbags that were never deployed? I have not gotten it repaired yet because the dealer is charging greater than $900 for just the part. I found it online for less than $200.

ABS and traction control lights recently started coming on upon starting the vehicle. This morning, I took to repair shop and had brakes checked. I was told nothing was wrong, that brake pads look good, brake fluid level is good. When I returned home, I checked the NTHSA website to check for recalls on these modules. Saw another complaint regarding the exact same thing I am experiencing. That person stated that the dealership indicated that no fix is available as yet due to a supposed redesign of these components. So now what? I have no choice but to drive a vehicle that has ABS and traction control safety systems that are unavailable. While on the site, I also checked for recalls and found 5 recalls for which I was never notified, including air bag non-deployment. Great. I want to get rid of this vehicle, but alas, interest rates make it impossible.

My first issue is my windshield wiper fluid only works or comes out once every couple days. My 2nd issue is my TPM system has been blinking and does not show the pressure on very hot days. Both issues have been going on for over a year. 3rd issue is I can no longer use the AM/FM radio. 4th issue is my brakes went out due to a faulty rear passenger side brake hose in March. Over the past 2 weeks something has been wrong with using my brakes. Today I just found out both front brake hoses are defective. Due to these defective hoses, my rotors also need to be replaced. My automotive mechanic said this is very common. My car only has 54k miles on it. I feel like these issues should not be happening on a car that only has 54K miles on it. I feel like many children are in danger because of these hoses being defective. What if a parent has this happen and they are unable to stop on the interstate or anywhere really. I almost wrecked when my brakes went out in March, but luckily I was able to stop before hitting anything. The car behind me almost hit me as well. Can you please investigate these issues as soon as possible before anyone gets seriously hurt. Thank you.
Other or unspecified, Feb 20, 2024, crash
Stopped at traffic light. Hit from behind, into vehicle in front of said vehicle. Air bags did not deploy. Police report filed; insurance representative, jeep dealership all have inspected. No warning lamps, messages or other symptoms prior to the failure. Rear ended at traffic light. Front end and back end damaged- jeep was undrivable, wrecker service removed from the accident scene. Driver was transported by ambulance and admitted to the hospital.

Vehicle under-body gas tank skid plate is rusting from the inside out. My mechanic has advised me that he has seen many of the JK model Jeep Wranglers gas skid plates rust away from the inside out. Due to the nature of its location the inner portion rusting away is difficult to see this happening. Should this rust away and let go it could result in the gas tank falling from the vehicle at operating speeds on public roads. I was urged to report this as a safety problem.

I have a 2016 Jeep Wrangler that I purchased in 2017. The vehicle does not have over 45,000 miles on it...yet it would not crank.....when it finally cranked, within a few feet it completely shut down....the dealer stated that it was the TIPM. that needs to be replaced.....after reading the complaint comments on several sites...I wanted to know why this part has not been recalled to date. This repair is very costly to me, and during these hard economic times, this process has been extremely stressful. The dealer stated that it might take up to 4 weeks to get my jeep back..this is soooo unfair that I would have to incorporate an additional cost that should have been recalled already.....Recall this Jeep wrangler asap please!!!..Thank you, [XXX]. Windshield broke and it happened previously with a older jeep pebble on the highway likely kicked up and hit the windshield I believe because the windshield is flat there is an increased risk of breakage.
Electrical system, Other or unspecified, Dec 16, 2022, fire
I started my Jeep. After a few minutes I could smell smoke and something burning. The alarm started going off, wipers came on, radio etc. smoke came inside cab . I tried to shut everything off but it wasn’t working. I started seeing flames around the hood. My husband was able to disconnect the battery and the fire died out. Insurance would not cover it and said it was electrical. The fuse box was melted and wire harnesses. The vehicle was right by our garage and could’ve caught our house on fire. My son and I were in the vehicle when the fire started. Thank God we weren’t hurt. I did report this but was told it wasn’t Jeeps fault. A week later another jeep caught fire in the small town I live in. Something isn’t right.

Driving at 50 MPH on high-speed concrete highway during a thunderstorm, my ABS and traction control lights came on and stayed on for a few minutes. In those few minutes, my car started slowly fish-tailing, so I pulled on to the side of the interstate. I turned off the engine completely and restarted, as well as other resets, to try to turn the ABS and traction control lights off. I started on to the highway again and got up to 50 MPH again with both lights still on. Again, my vehicle started shifting in the lane, so I pulled off the highway again and turned the car completely off. After a few more minutes, I restarted the vehicle engine, both lights remained on, and I got on to an asphalt surface for the remainder of my trip. Within half a mile, both lights turned off and the vehicle felt more secure on the road way. For the remainder of my drive, both lights remained off, but I did go through at least 4 standing puddles of water with no other issues with traction.

I WAS TOLD THAT MY OIL FILTER HOUSING ADAPTER HAS A MAJOR LEAK. BUT, THE PART IS ON BACK ORDER. THERE ARE 40,000 PLUS ON BACK ORDER AND THE NUMBER WAS ORIGINALLY 60,000. IT JUST SEEMS THAT THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM AND THAT THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL. MY ENGINE COULD SEIZE WHILE DRIVING IF I HAPPEN TO RUN OUT OF OIL AND IT COULD NOT ONLY INJURE MYSELF BUT SOMEONE ELSE AND I HAVE NO WAY OF GETTING THE PART ANYTIME SOON.

SPOKE WITH BRITTANY ABOUT THE ISSUE WITH THE NAVIGATION SYSTEM (ERROR MESSAGES). TOLD HER THAT THE DEALERSHIP SAID THE ENTIRE RADIO MUST BE REPLACED AND WILL BE ROUGHLY $600. BRITTANY TOLD ME THAT UCONNECT AND GARMIN MAKE THE PRODUCTS IN THE JEEP PERTAINING TO THOSE ISSUES. I TOLD BRITTANY THAT I HAD SPOKEN TO MULTIPLE PEOPLE AT BOTH OF THOSE COMPANIES AND THEY ALL SAID THAT THE ISSUES I AM HAVING ARE ALL A JEEP PROBLEM. I TOLD BRITTANY THAT THE RESEARCH I HAVE DONE HAS INDICATED THAT THIS ISSUE IS A KNOWN JEEP PROBLEM. BRITTANY TOLD ME THAT THEY HAVE RECEIVED MANY CALLS AND HAVE HAD MANY CLAIMS REGARDING THIS ISSUE WITH JEEPS AS NEW AS 2018, 2019, AND 2020 MODELS. THEY ALSO HAVE MANY CALLS AND CLAIMS REGARDING THIS ISSUE IN OLDER MODEL VEHICLES AS WELL. SHE STATED THAT THERE HAVE BEEN ATTEMPTS BY CUSTOMERS TO GET THE COST OF THESE ISSUES COVERED, AND THEY HAVE BEEN DENIED EACH TIME. BRITTANY ADDED MY NAME/VEHICLE/ISSUE TO THE CLAIMS REGARDING THIS ISSUE. SHE SAID THAT IF THERE WAS A RECALL OR EXTENDED WARRANTY REGARDING THIS THEN I WOULD RECEIVE INFORMATION IN THE MAIL. I TOLD HER I WAS GOING TO GET THE ISSUE FIXED THROUGH THE DEALERSHIP AND ASKED ABOUT REIMBURSEMENT IF THIS RECALL OR EXTENDED WARRANTY WERE TO COME OUT. SHE TOLD ME THAT IF EITHER THE RECALL OR WARRANTY DO COME OUT, I SHOULD KEEP MY RECEIPT FROM THE REPAIR AND I CAN GET REFUNDED FOR THE FULL COST OF THE PARTS/LABOR/TAXES/ETC. I ALSO ASKED ABOUT IF THIS REFUND WOULD APPLY IF THE EXTENDED WARRANTY WERE GRANTED SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS MADE IN CANADA, AND SHE TOLD ME I WOULD STILL GET THE REFUNDED AMOUNT. I EXPRESSED MY CONCERN WITH WARRANTIES BEING VOIDED WHEN THE VEHICLE CROSSES THE BOARDER (EVEN THOUGH MY VEHICLE IS PAST THE TIME FOR THE JEEP WARRANTY) BECAUSE A JEEP IS A JEEP AND THEY ARE ALL MADE THE SAME REGARDLESS OF WHERE I LIVE. SHE HEARD MY COMPLAINT BUT WAS UNABLE TO HELP

MY WIFE HAS HAD HER GAS PEDAL STICK ON HER ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS, AND I HAVE HAD IT STICK ON ME ONCE (10-4-20). THE FIRST TIME IT DID IT TO HER WAS ABOUT A MONTH OR SO AGO, AND THEN IT DID IT TO HER TWICE THIS MORNING ON HER WAY TO WORK (10-9-20). IT SEEMS TO ONLY DO IT UNDER A HARD ACCELERATION. THE PEDAL WILL DROP TO THE FLOOR, RPM WILL SHOOT UP, AND IT WILL NOT DISENGAGE FOR A GOOD 10 SECONDS OR SO. I HAVE VERIFIED THAT THE FLOOR MATT IS NOT OBSTRUCTING THE PATH OF THE PEDAL. THIS SEEM STO BE A COMMON PROBLEM AMONG THE JK JEEPS, BUT NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE ABOUT IT.

WHEN I AM TURNING LEFT THE ABS LIGHTS AND STABILITY LIGHTS TURN ON. THERE IS ALSO A WEIRD NOISE. I WENT TO A MECHANIC AND THEY SAID IT IS A CLOCK SPRING ASSEMBLY. THEY ALSO SAID IT IS COMMON FOR THE JEEP WRANGLERS TO HAVE THEM REPLACED.
