Manufacturer corporate and its dealer network are failing to provide a safe, timely remedy for a vehicle subject to high-voltage battery fire recalls (Recall 68C / NHTSA Campaign 25V-741) and a power steering fire recall (Recall 21D / NHTSA Campaign 21V-363). The vehicle has an active check engine light, a disabled hybrid propulsion system, and has now suffered a catastrophic electronic brake booster failure on a college campus, rendering the brake pedal rock-hard like compressed air and leaving the vehicle unable to stop normally. This is a direct, recurring safety failure of Diagnostic Trouble Code DTC C0580-00 (Brake Booster Motor Circuit Low), which was officially documented by a franchise dealer in June 2026. The vehicle also has an extensive history of severe manufacturing defects, including an extraordinary 72-day out-of-service period at a dealership in Miami, FL for a disintegrated rear axle bearing that destroyed the differential housing, alongside advanced structural body rust on hinges found to be unsafe. The manufacturer was formally notified of this active safety emergency and loss of vehicle utility on Sunday, September 27, via email and corporate phone logs, but failed to respond or secure the vehicle. We are formally demanding an expedited manufacturer repurchase/buyout due to total loss of vehicle utility, structural housing conflicts under 'park outside' directives, and severe physical safety liability.

After completing the Jeep Wrangler 4XE '68C' recall, my Wrangler started having erratic RPM / engine surges. Moreover, the powertrain system will jump between electric and hybrid gas (ICE) modes while driving at highway speeds when in 'Electric' mode. It actually does this in Hybrid mode but Electric mode is far worse. The Jeep did not do this before completing the 68C recall. The safety issue is erratic RPM and engine surges. The battery will have plenty of charge and should not need to jump back to hybrid mode. It did not do this before the 68C recall update. My car has not lost 'full' power but I've heard of others that have lost full power or have had major dead spots during acceleration. I have noticed reduced power and loss of acceleration (also a safety issue), as well. My theory is the battery and maybe the hybrid system is faulty. The battery used in the 4XE has been confirmed to have fire risk issues and the 68C seems to have changed the driving function by software update to keep it from over heating but they have created new safety issues with this patch and did not actually correct the original problem (only hide it). Not to mention, the Jeep does not function as originally sold from a powertrain standpoint. My EV battery was replaced after 68C recall but my 'new' battery has the same chemistry and cells so it still has the same fire risk as before but now with the powertrain problem meant to keep to battery cool to hide the fact that nothing was actually corrected (beyond creating new safety issues). If Jeep says that this is functioning as intended that is not correct. This car did not do this before the 68C updates and they have created new problems. Not to mention, possible engine problems resulting with this behavior.
Power train, Vehicle speed control, Fuel/propulsion system, Sep 23, 2026
My vehicle is currently in the shop getting the High voltage battery replaced for the second time due to a code showing battery voltage variation as well as getting the latest 21D recall completed. The Jeep currently has about 90,000 miles and has received all other recalls. The jeep no longer functions or performs like it did when I took ownership in February of 2022. It routinely loses power when trying to accelerate onto Highways or into traffic lanes or up hills. You can push the pedal down and there is a noticeable delay of several seconds before the vehicle starts to accelerate. The car no longer will stay in selected "Electric mode" and will instead kick the engine on at random times or take the vehicle out of "electric" and into "Hybrid". When at slow speeds (under 15MPH) in traffic the jeep lurches and slows, unable to maintain a constant speed. Also I have no way of proving that the overall power has been reduced through programming but the acceleration and advertised 375HP/470lb-ft does not seem to have the same feeling that it once did when first purchasing this vehicle. I believe there is a dangerous ongoing safety issue possibly with the programming, as well as the HV batteries. There were no warning lights coming on during the course of the last several months until I had a CEL for battery voltage variation and then it was taken to the dealership on the same day. There has been no communication with Jeep/Stellantis other than them issuing an unlimited mileage warranty on the HV battery. They seem to be replacing it with the same design, and therefore not addressing the issue only putting a band aid on the problem.
Fuel/propulsion system, Sep 22, 2026
Since recall 68C was completed in February, the performance of the vehicle in Electric mode has degraded significantly. Prior to 68C, the gas engine was nearly impossible to engage in electric mode which was a good thing and clearly intended for extreme circumstances where unusually rapid acceleration was required. Also prior to 68C the electric acceleration was dependable and predictable both around town and at highway speeds. I live atop a 1.5 mile hill and could travel bottom to top without the engine engaging. Since 68C, I have consistently observed multiple changes in performance in electric mode: 1) the engine will engage much sooner and more frequently upon acceleration in any conditions. Wherever it happens, this is an unpredictable behavior that puts instant load on a cold, unlubricated engine. 2) At and approaching highway speeds in electric mode, the vehicle will begin to lose acceleration, hesitate and the gas engine will engage - again putting load on a cold, unlubricated engine. This can happen after several miles or after just a few miles. When the engine engages, it does not engage smoothly - the engine will rev high then drop down, then rev high then disengage - all inconsistently and all unexpectedly. While this is happening, the vehicle's acceleration or ability to maintain speed is inconsistent and constant manipulation of the throttle is necessary to ensure I'm not losing too much speed relative to the traffic around me. I don't know what changes were made as part of the 68C recall remedy but it has dramatically changed how electric mode is managed, has significantly decreased vehicle performance in electric mode and puts my and my passengers' safety at risk when I'm driving. The problem has not been reproduced by a dealer and I've confirmed that the latest software is installed. The component has not been inspected. The issues described above only presented after the 68C recall work was performed and occur without warning.

Since the 68c recall my vehicle has not been performing as it should. It is in the shop for the 110th day since i had the recall installed.
Fuel/propulsion system, Sep 20, 2026
I had a 68c recall completed by Jeep and immediately after the recall, I noticed a reduction in power when accelerating, which causes me issues when trying to merge on the freeway and stay with the flow of traffic. This has been an ongoing daily issue. Also, the gas engine kicks on when it should not and loads immediately causing an erratic shifting of the gas engine, which causes the vehicle to lose power when it is needed the most. The recall was designed to supposedly protect the electric battery, but the software update that Jeep implemented has drastically changed the functionality and response timeframe at which the vehicle can respond when accelerating. I have tried to have Jeep address the issue, but they indicated the Jeep is operating as intended. It never operated like this until after this recall update and many other Jeep 4xe owners are reporting similar issues with propulsion and the gas engine loading erratically. Thank you for looking into this safety concern.

2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe Sahara, VIN [XXX]. 1. The exact malfunctioning component is UNKNOWN; I suspect the hybrid propulsion system. The vehicle is available for inspection. After recall 68C was completed, accelerator response, electric-power availability, and combined gasoline/electric performance changed substantially. The Jeep hesitates when I press the accelerator, the gasoline engine starts at unexpected times, and full electric-mode operation becomes restricted. Combined acceleration is noticeably weaker than before the recall. My complaint concerns restricted propulsion power, not reduced driving range. Horsepower loss has not been independently measured. Whether battery overheating or thermal-protection controls cause these restrictions is UNKNOWN. 2. I regularly pull out into traffic expecting the acceleration the vehicle previously provided, but the Jeep hesitates or fails to gain speed quickly enough. The approaching driver behind me then has to slow down. This recurring delayed response and reduced acceleration make safe gaps harder to judge and create a risk of a rear-end collision. 3. No dealer or independent service center has reproduced or confirmed these post-recall problems. 4. Recall 68C was completed, but these subsequent drivability problems have not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or others. 5. I first noticed these symptoms on XXX, at 62,000 miles, after recall 68C. They became more pronounced during summer 2026 as warmer weather set in. No warning lamps or messages accompanied these problems. I suspect a connection to the recall work based on the timing, but the exact cause is UNKNOWN. I request that NHTSA investigate whether the 68C remedy causes or leaves unresolved restricted propulsion power and delayed accelerator response. Fuel/propulsion system, Sep 19, 2026
When driving my Jeep 4xe hybrid powertrain in "electric" mode, I noticed loss of power at highway speeds, and other times at lower speeds. Pushing on gas pedal doesn't translate to acceleration. Engine kicks on but doesn't have a gear to find. This happens at various speeds, going 25mph up a hill or 55mph on a highway either flat or up a hill.
Fuel/propulsion system, Sep 19, 2026
This vehicle had a 68c recall (software) that has resulted in a significant change in the vehicle performance that resulted in unexpected power loss during its electric vehicle propulsion system that has nearly resulted in accidents on the road and on the freeway. This never happened before and it happens often now. The Jeep dealership claims there are no known error malfunction codes however there has been a material change in the operating environment and is very unsafe.
Fuel/propulsion system, Sep 18, 2026
Following the recent Recall 68C service administered by Jeep, my vehicle has exhibited several severe performance issues that pose direct mechanical and safety risks. 1. Erratic Gas Engine Engagement & Mechanical Strain Previously, under normal operation, if the vehicle required the gasoline engine while in electric mode, the engine would start at a standard idle (around 1,500 RPM). It would run briefly to lubricate moving parts before contributing to power delivery. Currently, the system behaves erratically. When electric operation exceeds 25% power under load, the gas engine frequently kicks on with absolutely no warm-up period. It immediately jumps to the 3,000 to 3,500 RPM range, forcing high-RPM operation on dry, unlubricated moving parts. 2. Severe Acceleration Lag (Critical Safety Hazard) The most alarming issue is a frequent 5-to-10-second lag during which the vehicle refuses to accelerate, and the electric power meter will not exceed 25%. This lag occurs during critical driving maneuvers, including: accelerating from stoplights or stop signs, changing lanes, and merging into active traffic. For example, while driving in electric mode in a 40 mph zone, the vehicle will begin accelerating normally under mild throttle. However, once the power delivery meter reaches 25%, the vehicle barely increases speed. Even with increased throttle pressure, there is a 2-to-5-second pause before the gas engine abruptly kicks on to resume normal acceleration. Conclusion: This unpredictable delay in throttle response is a severe safety hazard for myself, my passengers, and the general public. While I do not know the exact software or mechanical modifications included in the latest recall "fix," it has undeniably compromised the vehicle's drivability and safety. These performance defects need to be addressed and corrected immediately.

Jeep did a recall that was called 68C and ever since that update, the jeep has not been the same. The jeep is a hybrid (4XE) model that has an electric mode that has become virtually useless since the recall. I have experienced loss of power almost every time i drive the vehicle. The engine starts and loads almost immediately at random times which i can only imagine hurts the engine without any sort of warm up time. I was waiting for jeep to offer another recall to fix the problems, but i have reached my limit on waiting for them to act. I just want my jeep to act and drive the way it drove before the failed 68C recall. Hopefully this will be the start.
Fuel/propulsion system, Sep 18, 2026
Since the 68c recall the performance of the vehicle when merging into traffic, in extended periods of time in electric or going up hill while maintaining speed in electric will slow the vehicle down to have no power to maintain the speed. This causes a safety issue with the vehicle and to other motorists around the vehicle. After having to press harder on the accelerator to get back up to speed the vehicle take many seconds before turning the gas motor on to get it to this speed. Again making this a safety issue with the vehicle. There needs to be investigation as the vehicle no longer performs the same as when purchased and causes a safety issue to the driver and other motorists.
Fuel/propulsion system, Sep 18, 2026
Since the 68C Jeep Wrangler recall was applied to my vehicle this past July, it has been exhibiting erratic behavior during acceleration. At varying times, when the accelerator is pressed from a stop, the vehicle will begin accelerating at normal rate, but then suddenly the power will drop off, resulting in the acceleration rate being dropped to where the car is barely accelerating. For instance, I was making a left hand turn from a stop, and when I accelerated onto the road, my speed quickly rose to 20 mph, but then the vehicle stopped accelerating, and remained at 20 mph. At the time, the vehicle was operating on battery power only. I immediately began increasing my throttle input, but the car failed to increase acceleration. Only once I had the pedal to the floor for a few seconds did the internal combustion engine activate, allowing the car to begin accelerating again, albeit at a slow rate that was not commensurate with the throttle position. This event has almost resulted in other vehicles colliding with my car when I was attempting to enter a busy road. This has occurred on a number of occasions, and the fact that this happens randomly presents an extremely dangerous situation that is not predictable. Other people who own the same Jeep Wrangler 4xe platform as me have also reported this occurring to their vehicles. Jeep, however, has not responded to this alarming problem, and simply has been telling customers who call Jeep customer service or take their vehicles to a dealer that there is nothing wrong, and the vehicles are operating normally. This is not acceptable, and with tens of thousands of these vehicles on the road, presents a significant danger to the owners and public at large. For the record, there were no warning lamps, messages, or any other symptoms prior to each incident for me. It also has occurred no matter the current capacity of the battery.
Fuel/propulsion system, Sep 18, 2026
Following the completion of the 68C recall, My Jeep does not have the responsiveness and speed that it did before. Even with lots of battery left, the engine will kick on resulting in a loss of power and then difficulty getting it back up to speed. There’s also hesitations when going to make a turn or accelerating through an intersection after slowing down. This vehicle is not like it was before that recall work was done. I view this is a huge safety factor if I’m not able to maintain my vehicle speed or accelerate when I need to.
Fuel/propulsion system, Sep 17, 2026
Ever since the 68C recall, my jeep constantly changes back and forth from electric to gas and causes an unsafe driving condition. Some of the shifts are rough, and the vehicle has stalled out as well. The acceleration and performance has also gotten worse. The vehicle feels like it is holding back / restricted. I can floor the gas and the jeep barely moves and then all of a sudden it kicks in and has caused scary and unsafe bursts of speed. I have brought this numerous times to the dealer for performance issues and they were able to replicate the issue. I am on my third hybrid battery and only have 34k miles on the vehicle. I have been stranded multiple times and have had to get towed. This vehicle is unsafe and I say a prayer every time I drive it.
Fuel/propulsion system, Sep 17, 2026
After the latest 68C recall, something has been altered in the vehicle that has changed its operability. It has lost total available power when in electric mode. The system now doesn't respond as well as it used to. This has caused a loss of acceleration and often time transitions to using the gas engine poorly when trying to get up to speed. It causes issues with climbing hills and when pulling out in to traffic. It feels as though it has been current limited to protect the faulty battery instead of replacing the battery with a better design. The fault with the battery is also causing early degradation. The issue that lead to the B9A, 95B and 68C recalls still resides in the battery. It seems as though Jeep has attempted to compensate for a poor battery design by altering the performance capabilities of the vehicle.
Vehicle speed control, Engine, Fuel/propulsion system, Sep 14, 2026
After the safety recall 68C, the vehicle no longer operates as designed. In electric only mode, the gas engine engages, which is bad for the engine. This fails to give the engine time to prepare for short sudden use. When driving, the high voltage battery will lag or not produce power as it did prior. This can cause an accident (which it almost did already for myself). The acceleration lags before engaging. This vehicle performed properly prior to this software (1/1/2026) update. I don't trust or feel safe in my vehicle at this juncture. I seek the manufacturer to correct this for the safety of those who drive these vehicles.

Follow-up to complaint 11749455, same vehicle (2021 Jeep Wrangler EcoDiesel, approx. 98,300 miles). Following recall 01A (high-pressure fuel pump replacement), a diesel fuel leak was discovered at a fuel supply component by the servicing dealership. That fuel injector supply line was replaced on 07/23/2026, which I paid for under protest. Within approximately one mile of leaving the dealership, the vehicle began leaking diesel fuel heavily and was returned the same day. The dealership then identified injector O-rings as the source and replaced them; after that repair, fuel injector #1 is now leaking. This is the third distinct fuel-system leak repair on this vehicle following recall-related service, and none has resolved the condition. The vehicle was released to me in a leaking, unsafe condition after a paid repair that did not fix the leak. The failed components have been confirmed and worked on by the dealership and are available for inspection. Concern: repeated diesel fuel leaks in the engine compartment present a fire and roadway hazard, and recall-related fuel system repairs have not reliably resolved the problem.

Subject: Safety Complaint – 2021 Jeep Wrangler 2.0L Fuel Pump Failure (Loss of power while driving.) I am filing this complaint regarding a 2021 Jeep Wrangler equipped with the 2.0L engine due to what I believe is a significant safety issue involving the fuel pump. The fuel pump has failed, making the vehicle unsafe and/or inoperable. A sudden fuel pump failure can cause the engine to lose power or stall without warning, creating a serious safety hazard, especially when driving at highway speeds, in heavy traffic, or while crossing intersections. A loss of engine power in these situations places both the driver and surrounding motorists at risk of a crash. What is equally concerning is that the replacement fuel pump is currently on a national backorder, with my dealership estimating approximately 45 days or longer before the part will be available. This suggests that many owners may be experiencing the same problem and that replacement parts cannot keep up with demand. As a result, my vehicle is unusable while I wait for a critical safety-related component. This creates a significant financial and personal hardship, including transportation difficulties, missed work, and additional expenses. A safety-related component should not be unavailable for such an extended period if this issue is affecting numerous vehicles. I respectfully request that NHTSA investigate whether fuel pump failures in the 2021 Jeep Wrangler 2.0L represent a widespread safety defect. If a pattern is identified, I urge NHTSA to require Stellantis to issue a recall or other appropriate corrective action to protect vehicle owners and the public. Thank you for your consideration of this complaint.

Vehicle received federal recall 01A service (high pressure fuel pump replacement) at an authorized Chrysler/Jeep dealership on 05/14/2026 at 97,055 miles. I drove the vehicle normally for approximately two weeks (roughly 950 miles), then parked it in my garage awaiting a separate warranty part for the intake manifold. On 07/03/2026, during that warranty repair at the same dealership at approximately 98,000 miles, the dealership’s own technician discovered a diesel fuel leak at the fuel injector supply tube. This line must be disturbed to access and replace the high pressure fuel pump during the recall procedure and is a single-use component. No fuel leak or fuel system issue existed or was documented before the recall service; the vehicle was scanned at the same dealership at intake and the only issue found was an intake manifold valve actuation code unrelated to the fuel system. The leak was confirmed by the dealership and the component is available for inspection; I have requested the removed part be returned to me. Safety risk: the vehicle was driven on public roads for roughly 950 miles while, unknown to me, a fuel line disturbed during recall service was developing a leak. Pressurized diesel leaking in the engine compartment is a fire and roadway hazard. The dealership is charging me for the part and labor rather than covering it under the recall remedy, which provides for replacement of additional fuel system components as necessary free of charge. My concern is an improperly performed or incomplete recall remedy resulting in a fuel leak.

I am filing this safety complaint regarding my 2021 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sahara Altitude. The vehicle is experiencing a fuel gauge/fuel reading malfunction. The gauge does not accurately reflect the amount of fuel in the vehicle, which creates a serious safety concern because the vehicle may run out of fuel unexpectedly while being operated on public roads. This defect places me and other drivers at risk, especially if the vehicle stalls in traffic, on a highway, or in an unsafe location. I am requesting that NHTSA review this issue as a potential safety defect.

I took my car to the dealership to complete the 04b recall. When I got my car back from this recall: 1. The car says driving in electric mode but it uses gas. 2. The car while driving on the highway will hesitate for a split second.. very dangerous. 3. When going on a small hill(example: bridge on turnpike over griffon road) will all of a sudden hesitates and will not get any more power. 4. Multiple times when getting off the turnpike the car slowed to 20mph and would not go any faster for about 15 seconds.. all this while in electric mode.. even more dangerous... I took the jeep back to the dealership, they have had the car for 6 weeks and acknowledge the problems..but Stellantis keeps saying this is normal.. not normal, did not happen before the recall.

Since the 68C recall from Jeep, my vehicle has not been functioning properly. The 68C recall was issued because the high-voltage battery cells have a defect that causes them to short-circuit and catch fire. To avoid replacing hundreds of thousands of expensive batteries all at once, Jeep implemented a "fix" via a software flash. The new software "fix" heavily restricts how much power can be drawn from the high-voltage battery to keep it from getting warm. If you push the pedal enough to draw more than roughly 40–50% power—or if the battery temperature hits a strictly lowered threshold—the software abruptly chokes the electric motor and fires up the ICE engine to compensate. Because the electric motor just lost its punch, the computer frantically fires up the gasoline engine to make up the difference. Because there is an inherent delay while the gas engine starts up and matches the transmission speed, it engages with a sudden, frustrating lurch or surge. This is just one of the many problems i have found since jeeps "fix" has been implemented. Basically Jeep elected to reduce the capacity of the battery to avoid costly replacement of the real issue with the battery. This has resulted in a driving safety concern with the surging and hesitation. Also now I can no longer drive exclusively in the electric mode; electric mode is basically non-existent.

There has been an extreme loss of power after the 68c recall making it very unsafe when trying to accelerate. Eventually the car just died and was towed to the dealer.

When accelerating the vehicle will not go or it will start to move then essentially stop, seconds later it starts moving. There is a delay and it’s extremely dangerous when there is oncoming traffic and/or the drivers behind you don’t realize what is happening. My jeep is a 4xe and this does happen frequently since the last “fix” for the recalls
