Electrical system, Jan 10, 2026, fire
I purchased this Jeep 4xe in September 2025 and the dealer did not mention any recalls or safety concerns at the time of purchase nor did I receive any notification of a recall. My jeep battery caught on fire just like the recall states. Fortunately a neighbor saw the fire prior to it burning down my other jeep and barn.
Electrical system, Engine, Jan 1, 2026
68C recall did not fix recurring issue with this vehicle: 12/2/25 – The vehicle was towed to the dealer under Safety Recall 68C (battery fire risk) in an undrivable state “service charging system” message, vehicle would not disengage from Park, no power, battery, charging, service engine lights on. 12/18/25 – The dealer informed me that Recall 68C had been completed, stated that the vehicle was repaired and safe to drive, and told me to “rest assured.” I was instructed to pick up the vehicle on that basis, and I did so. 12/20/25 – Just two days later, while driving approximately 60 mph on the highway in electric mode with more than 90% charge, the vehicle suddenly lost electric propulsion for over 30 seconds, rapidly losing speed and nearly requiring an emergency stop in active traffic. A dash notification appeared stating “electric mode unavailable,” and the vehicle reverted to hybrid mode. I immediately left a message for the dealership that same day requesting a call back to determine next steps; no call was returned. 12/20–12/26 – Because of this serious failure and ongoing safety concerns, the vehicle was driven only minimally. 12/27 – When I attempted to start the vehicle, it again failed. The dash displayed “service charging system” along with battery, service engine, and service electrical warning lights. The vehicle would not disengage from park, would not start, and had no usable power. 1/1/26- the vehicle remains at the Newport Jeep Dealership & Service Center, technicians continue to try to diagnose the problem and are unable to do so. The 68C recall was an ineffective attempt at resolving this significant recurring safety issue.

My vehicle, a 2022 Jeep Wrangler 4xe is subject to Recall 25V-741. This recall involves a serious safety defect with vehicle’s charging system, posing I fire risk when charged. This renders the vehicle unsafe to operate. At this time, there is no available repair remedy. While the official Jeep Mopar website states that repairs parts are available but the Jeep dealership states they don't have repairs available for my vehicle. I have called two different dealerships one month apart and still received the same answer. As a result of this recall, I am unable to drive or reasonably use the vehicle. The vehicle is effectively inoperable, and I am incurring ongoing financial harm, including loan payments and loss-of-use expenses, for a vehicle that cannot be safely driven. I purchased the vehicle in good faith, and shortly after purchase learned of the open recall. Stellantis has not provided a repair timeline or alternative resolution. This situation leaves me without safe transportation and no practical remedy.
Electrical system, Dec 21, 2025
rare circumstances, a battery pack may contain cells with separator damage. Separator damage, combined with other complex interactions within the cells, may lead to a vehicle fire. A vehicle fire can result in increased risk of occupant injury and injury to persons outside the vehicle. Vehicle risk is reduced when the battery charge level is depleted. Accordingly, owners are advised to refrain from recharging. Out of an abundance of caution, FCA US is also advising owners of these vehicles to park away from structures or other vehicles until the remedy is obtained.

NHTSA Recall Number25V-741 URGENT: FIRE RISK WHEN PARKED An urgent safety recall has been issued for this vehicle and the manufacturer has recommended that you follow their instructions on how and where to park this vehicle. The information I have received from Jeep is that they currently dot have the parts or dont have a solution for this issue and I will be contacted in the future. How is the a solution that is satisfactory to NHTSA. New batteries should be provided if this will fox the problem and if it wont the option of a recall of financial compensation should be provided.

I have experienced at least five times in which my vehicle does not start and a "service charging system" error message shows on the dash resulting in the vehicle having to be towed to Newport Jeep in Middletown RI for service. Every recall that has been issue has been "fixed"- my hybrid battery has been replaced, my high voltage wire has been replaced. I tried to pursue a buyback request and was rejected in March 2025. I am aware of the 68C safety recall and that there is no repair at this time. Again on 12/9/25 my vehicle would not start, the "service charging system" error message was on the dash and my vehicle has had to be towed back to the dealership. They are not able to diagnose the issue. I want to pursue a buyback as this vehicle is defective and unsafe.

I received the recall of my leased vehicle and I immediately called Chrysler Stelantis and was told that there was nothing they could do. This recall materially restricts the safe use of my leased vehicle. I request early termination of my lease without penalty OR a replacement vehicle. I am a 100% disabled veteran and cannot comply with the recall’s conditions They stated that they will take back my lease but I will be penalized for the early termination and also for any recoupment of the vehicle when it goes to auction. This is unacceptable and has placed myself, my family,, my residence and other vehicles in danger. I cannot abide by the recall.

Electrical system, Nov 24, 2025
My Jeep Wrangler 4xe has now been subject to multiple high-voltage battery fire-risk recalls, including the current recall that instructs owners to park outside due to a potential battery fire. This is the third recall involving the same system. The vehicle is unsafe, and Jeep/Stellantis has no permanent remedy available. I have been unable to use the vehicle safely for extended periods, and I have been given conflicting information by the dealership and manufacturer about the timeline for a fix. This creates a significant fire hazard to my property and family. Because of the repeated nature of the defect, Jeep is refusing to provide a timely resolution or a vehicle replacement/lease termination. I am requesting NHTSA intervention due to: – Multiple recalls for the same battery fire risk – Lack of an available repair or remedy – Manufacturer failing to provide safe use of the vehicle – Ongoing safety danger that forces me to park the vehicle away from structures This is a serious safety defect involving the high-voltage battery pack that could result in a vehicle fire while parked or driving. I am requesting NHTSA investigate this issue and compel the manufacturer to provide a safe and immediate resolution for affected Wrangler 4xe owners. Symptoms observed: – Vehicle subject to multiple “park outside” fire-related recalls – Battery-related warnings – Loss of use of the vehicle – Safety risk to home/garage due to fire potential – No fix or parts available – Ongoing manufacturer delays What I am requesting: – NHTSA review of repeated 4xe battery recalls – Enforcement of a timely repair or mandatory buyback/lease release – Confirmation whether Jeep is compliant with recall remedy obligations
Power train, Electrical system, Fuel/propulsion system, Nov 21, 2025
My Jeep Wrangler 4xe displayed a ‘Service Charging System’ warning immediately after unplugging from charging. I began to drive and noticed the warning right away. I then parked and attempted to restart the vehicle, but it would not start and became completely inoperable. The vehicle had to be towed. The dealer confirmed this issue is related to the current hybrid safety recall, but Stellantis has stated that no repair is available, and it may not be available until the end of the year or the first quarter of next year. The vehicle is undrivable, and I cannot safely use or move it. Stellantis is only offering reimbursement for a rental, which I cannot access because I cannot afford to pay for a rental vehicle upfront. Reimbursement for what could be an unlimited or months-long period of rental fees is not a reasonable or accessible remedy. This leaves me without any safe or practical transportation option. I have now been without transportation for over 48 hours, and the manufacturer is not providing a reasonable remedy or safe transportation while the recall repair remains unavailable. I am filing this complaint so NHTSA can document the delay, the lack of an accessible remedy, and the manufacturer’s failure to provide a safe, timely solution for an undrivable recall-affected vehicle. The vehicle is undrivable and I cannot safely park or use it. Stellantis is only offering reimbursement for a rental, which I cannot access because I cannot afford to rent a vehicle upfront. Over the last 45 days, my Jeep has suffered repeated breakdowns that required towing to the Jeep dealership—It is now the fourth tow in this short window for the same issue. On November 10th, I was informed it was a wiring harness issue. On November 17th, they completed the work with the wiring harness and mentioned that now shifter assembly now has internal failure. Respectfully, this situation is unacceptable. Particularly for a critical component that renders the vehicle inoperable and raises significant safety concerns. This issue is especially troubling given that I have young children and rely on this vehicle for our daily transportation, and has stopped me in the middle of the road multiple times. Timeline: October 7th, 2025: Service Electronic Stability Control signal - Vehicle disabled on road; Towed to my home October 8th, 2025: Second Service Electronic Stability Control signal- Vehicle is again inoperable - Towed to Jeep Dealer October 9th, 2025: Third Service Electronic Stability Control signal pops up and disappears. October 15th, 2025: Fourth Service Electronic Stability Control signal - Vehicle is again inoperable - Towed to Jeep Dealership November 8th, 2025: Fifth Service Electronic Stability Control signal - Vehicle picked up by Jeep Dealership November 17th 2025: Notified by the service advisor that Service Shifter came on after completing work with the wiring harness. This is a huge safety concern that needs immediate investigation, and the manufacture needs to be help liable for these rescue ring issues.

I own a 2022 Jeep Wrangler 4xe (VIN: XXX) subject to Recall 68C for the high-voltage battery. Jeep Customer Care advised me in writing not to charge the battery and not to park the vehicle inside or near structures, but could not define a safe distance or provide any specific measurable guidance. I live in a residential community where all parking is adjacent to homes, so these instructions are impossible to follow. FCA also stated they are unable to provide a loaner or alternative accommodation, even though their written guidance effectively removes the vehicle from normal home use. Additionally, FCA repeatedly instructed me to bring the vehicle to a dealership to determine if it is “unsafe to drive,” despite confirming that no remedy exists and that dealers have no diagnostic test or inspection procedure that can detect or reduce the risk of thermal runaway associated with this recall. The dealership cannot change the risk until a remedy is available. I am requesting NHTSA review FCA’s interim guidance for clarity and adequacy, as owners cannot comply with instructions that are vague, contradictory, and not operationally feasible in residential environments. Car shut down on [XXX] and would not start. Indicated problem with charging system. Vehicle is currently in Cabo San Lucas, BCS, Mexico. Towed car to local Jeep dealer. Car had outstanding recall (ZB7 2021-2023 JL 4XE Loss of Motive Power). Dealer diagnosed issues as a failure of the battery, so that was replaced, along with software updates to address the recalls. We had to pay over $900 out of pocket for these repairs, and it stayed with the dealer for 3.5 weeks. Two days later the vehicle is again failing with the same issues and will not start. It began with the check engine light coming on, then A/C stopped cooling, then the car only would stay in hybrid mode, and the transmission was revving. After stopping the car and shutting it off it will not restart. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

While driving to an appointment on 11 August 2025 the yellow CEL light came on and the Jeep Wrangler 4xe stopped operating in hybrid mode. A few miles later the Jeep went into limp mode with a red turtle, red wrench, and red battery light. Pulled into the left center turn lane to allow faster traffic to pass and then made a left turn off of a busy 4-lane highway. I then proceeded down the hill and at the next traffic light I was turning right when the Jeep stopped and the gas engine completely shut down and the Jeep stopped moving halfway through the intersection. Putting the vehicle in park, I attempted to restart the vehicle while it sat in the middle of the intersection but it wouldn’t restart. I then turned on my flashers and exited the vehicle so I could call a tow truck. After the vehicle was towed to the nearest Jeep dealership I learned two days later that the hybrid battery pack had failed and it needed to be replaced. As of 18 September and the vehicle is still at the dealership awaiting authorization from the Jeep engineering team so the technician at the dealership can order a special part!

The vehicle experienced multiple serious fuel system failures, including a failed fuel injector and high-pressure fuel pump. After these components were replaced, it was confirmed that fuel was still entering the engine crankcase. At no point did the vehicle trigger a “Check Engine” light, oil dilution warning, low oil pressure alert, or any hybrid/electric powertrain. This represents a critical safety & reliability issue. Fuel dilution of engine oil can: severely degrade lubrication, increase crankcase pressure, and/or lead to internal engine failure or fire The lack of any warning or diagnostic code suggests either: a software calibration issue in the ECM/BCM that failed to detect the problem, a sensor failure, and/or a defect in the onboard diagnostic system itself. This could indicate a broader defect affecting the safety of the 4xe platform and request investigation. This failure delayed necessary service and put both vehicle and occupants at risk.

The IPC short circuited and has not been functioning since November of 2024. There is no gas gauge, fuel gauge or way to see any check engine lights. There is an active recall for jeeps 2018-2024 under NHTSA recall number 24V-652. No accidents or anything to cause this panel to be blank. Drove it the night before, parked and when I started it the following morning the entire panel was black.
