  9. Electrical system, wiringMay 17, 2018

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2014-2018 Dodge Journey, Charger and Durango, RAM 2500, 3500, 3500 Cab Chassis (more than 10,000lb), 4500 Cab Chassis and 5500 Cab Chassis, Jeep Cherokee and Grand Cherokee and Chrysler 300, 2014-2019 RAM 1500, 2015-2018 Dodge Challenger, 2015-2017 Chrysler 200, 2016-2018 RAM 3500 Cab Chassis (less than 10,000 lb), 2017-2018 Chrysler Pacifica and 2018 Jeep Wrangler vehicles. These vehicles are being recalled to address a defect that could prevent the cruise control system from disengaging. If, when using cruise control, there is a short circuit within the vehicle's wiring, the driver may not be able to shut off the cruise control either by depressing the brake pedal or manually turning the system off once it has been engaged, resulting in either the vehicle maintaining its current speed or possibly accelerating.

If the vehicle maintains its speed or accelerates despite attempts to deactivate the cruise control, there would be an increased risk of a crash.

Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the software, and perform a software flash on the engine or powertrain control module, free of charge. The recall began June 4, 2018. 10. Power train, automatic transmission, lever and linkage, column shiftDec 20, 2017

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2016-2017 Ram 3500 Cab Chassis with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) of less than 10,000 lbs, 2011-2017 Ram 3500, 4500 and 5500 Cab Chassis vehicles, 2009-2017 Ram 1500 and 2010-2017 Ram 2500 and 3500 pickup trucks, all equipped with a column shifter. Pushing the brake pedal for prolonged periods when the vehicle is running and in PARK may cause the Brake Transmission Shift Interlock (BTSI) pin to stick in the open position. With the pin in the open position, the transmission can be shifted out of PARK into any gear without pushing the brake pedal or having the key in the ignition.

Being able to shift the transmission without pushing the brake pedal and/or without a key in the ignition can increase the risk of an unintended vehicle rollaway that may result in personal injury or a crash.

Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will update the vehicle software, inspect the BTSI, and, as necessary, replace it, free of charge. The recall began February 26, 2018. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is T79.

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain model year 2013-2016 Ram 1500, Ram 2500, and 2014-2016 Ram 3500 vehicles. Certain driving conditions, such as driving off-road or debris striking the vehicle may cause the roll rate sensor to trigger a fault within the Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC). If this fault occurs, the rollover side curtain air bag and the seat belt pretensioner will be disabled from deploying.

If the rollover side curtain air bags and seat belt pretensioners are disabled, there is an increased risk of injury to the vehicle occupants in the event of a crash that necessitates activation of these safety systems.

Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will update the ORC software, free of charge. The recall began June 26, 2017. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is T25.

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2016-2017 Ram 1500 trucks. The differential pin retaining screw may come loose while driving, potentially causing the differential to break or lock up.

A broken or locked up differential may result in a loss of motive power and possibly a loss of vehicle control. Either scenario increases the risk of a crash.

Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and replace the differential retaining pin, free of charge. The recall began April 24, 2017. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is T20.

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling aftermarket Mopar Canvas Seat Covers for certain 2012-2016 RAM 1500, 2500, and 3500 trucks. These Mopar canvas seat covers were sold through Chrysler dealerships beginning October 15, 2015. The seat covers can impede the deployment of the seat thorax airbags.

If the seat cover impedes the air bag deployment, the seat thorax air bags may not provide adequate protection in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of a injury.

Chrysler will notify owners to remove the front seat covers and return them for a full refund. The recall began on July 1, 2016. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is S30.

If the vehicle experiences a loss of power steering assist, extra steering effort will be required, especially at lower speeds, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash.

Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will replace the EPS unit, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin on May 16, 2016. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is S19.

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain model year 2016 Ram 1500 trucks with a 5.7L engine and dual exhaust manufactured August 3, 2015, to August 10, 2015. The affected vehicles may be missing a heat shield for the spare tire.

Without a heat shield, heat from the exhaust system may damage the spare tire. When used, the damaged tire may have a tread separation or side wall rupture, resulting in a loss of control and an increased risk of a crash.

Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will install a spare tire heat shield if the vehicle is missing one. Vehicles that have already been sold with an excess of 50 miles will also have their spare tires replaced. These repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began on December 2, 2015. PROBLEMS FOR SEVERAL OWNERS OF 2016 RAM TRUCKS. THEY ARE COMPLAINING ON A RAM TRUCK FORUM ABOUT THEIR WINDOWS FALLING OFF THE TRACKS AND DOWN INTO THEIR DOORS. IT IS MAINLY HAPPENING TO THE DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW AND ONLY IN COLD WEATHER. I TRIED TO ROLL THE WINDOW DOWN, MOTOR WAS WORKING, WINDOW STAYED IN PLACE..WHEN IT GOT A BIT WARMER, AS I WAS DRIVING, THE WINDOW FELL DOWN. THIS IS VERY COMMON ON THE '16 MODELS, MY DEALER SAID HE HAS HAD THEM IN ALL WINTER. IT'S HAPPENED TWICE TO MINE AND THE LAST TIME WE DIDN'T EVEN ROLL THE WINDOW DOWN AND WEREN'T IN THE TRUCK. RAM DESIGNED THE WINDOW TRACK DIFFERENTLY THIS YEAR AND IT DOESN'T WORK.

  16. Engine, Fuel/propulsion system, Dec 6, 2019

I PURCHASED A NEW 2106 RAM 1500 ECODIESEL IN 2016 FROM A DEALER. THERE WAS AN EMISSIONS RECALL FOR WHICH I TOOK TO THE DEALER AND HAD DONE ACCORDING TO THE MANUFACTURER. SINCE THE RECALL WAS COMPLETED I HAVE HAD A SERIOUS LAG IN ACCELERATION. THERE IS NOW A 3 TO 4 SECOND DELAY AT 3/4 THROTTLE BEFORE THE TRUCK TAKES OFF IN A LURCH. I ASKED THE DEALER HOW THIS CAN BE FIXED TO ACCELERATE AS BEFORE THE RECALL AND THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD AND THAT THEY WOULD NOT UNDO THE COMPUTER CHANGES. I LIVE OFF A BUSY STREET AND TRYING TO FLOW INTO TRAFFIC IS A REAL CHALLENGE AND A SAFETY HAZARD. I'VE NEVER HEARD OF FUEL SENSORS OR PUMPS GOING BAD THIS EARLY. THIS ISSUE ISN'T COVER UNDER POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. IT IS UNDER BUMPER TO BUMPER BUT I'M OUT OF LUCK AS IT'S THREE YEAR/36K MILES. ENGINE LIGHT/SENSOR/GAUGE ISSUE OCCURED WHEN CRANKING IT UP. I TURNED IT OFF AND BACK ON AND THE GAUGE WENT TO THE APPROPRIATE LEVEL ALTHOUGH ENGINE LIGHT IS STILL ON. I USE 87 FUEL.

IT WAS JUST RECENTLY BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION THAT THERE WAS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS SENT OUT FOR THE 3.0 ECODIESEL TO CHANGE THE TYPE/SPECIFICATION OF OIL AND TO GO AGAINST WHAT THE OWNERS MANUAL STATES BECAUSE THE MANUAL IS WRONG. IT CALLS FOR AN OIL THAT IS TO LIGHT BREAKS DOWN MOLECULAR WEIGHT TOO QUICKLY AND TRUCKS AND JEEPS ALIKE EQUIPED WITH THE ECODIESEL HAVE BEEN HAVING CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE DUE TO PREMATURE ENGINE WEAR ON INTERNAL COMPONENTS. IT IS RECOMMENDED TO PUT 5W40 IN INSTEAD. THIS IS FIRST AND FOREMOST TRUE I DID RESEARCH AND CONFIRMED THAT THE CHANGE WAS MADE BUT NEVER MADE PUBLIC TO THE OWNERS LIKE THE CURRENT CLASS ACTION LAWSUITS WAS. MANY OWNERS DON'T KNOW THIS CHANGE EXSISTED AND MANY OWNERS DON'T KNOW THAT THE DEALERSHIPS ARE STILL MAKING THIS ERROR AND CONTINUING TO FILL THE TRUCKS WITH 5W30 FOR OWNERS THAT COME IN FOR SERVICE. IF IT'S TO SAVE MONEY BY NOT THROWING AWAY ALREADY PURCHASED MERCHANDISE OR IGNORANCE I DON'T KNOW. BUT THIS IS HUGE BECAUSE NOW EVEN IF OWNERS CHANGE NOW THEY STILL HAVE POTENTIAL AND HIGHLY PROBABLE PERMANENT INTERNAL DAMAGE DONE TO THEIR ENGINE TAKING A DRASTIC AMOUNT OUT OF THE POSSIBLE LONGEVITY OF THE ENGINE AWAY, AND THE NEW OIL REQUIRED REDUCES FUEL ECONOMY FURTHERING THE FINANCIAL BURDEN OF THE OWNER THAT BOUGHT THE VEHICLE WITH A DIFFERENT FUEL ECONOMY ADVERTISED AND WITH THE KNOWLEDGE THAT THEIR VEHICLE MAY NEVER LAST AS LONG AS THEY'RE HOPE BECAUSE OF THE FAILURE OF THE FCA TO IDENTIFY THIS AND MAKE IT PUBLIC. NOT TO MENTION THE DEALERSHIPS ARE AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM BECAUSE ARTICLES CLAIM MECHANICS HAVE BEEN COMING FORWARD SAYING DEALERSHIPS ARE DRAINING ALL 5W30 ON UNSOLD VEHICLES AND REPLACING IT WITH 5W40. YET THEY REFUSE TO MAKE THIS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUITS TO THE PUBLIC SO WE CAN KNOW. WE DESERVE THE COMPENSATION FOR THE COSTS THAT MAY COME ABOUT BECAUSE OF THIS!!!

VEHICLE TAKEN IN ON 8-12-19 TO DEALERSHIP TO CHECK OUT DRIVEABILITY CONCERNS AFTER "APPROVED EMISSON MODIFICATION" THEY HAD IT TO APPLY UPDATE FROM 5-17-19 TO 6-12-19, CONCERNS ON 8-12-19 WERE ACCELERATION, ALSO TO CHECK EGR SYSTEM AS I WAS LOSING COOLANT THEY HAD MY VEHICLE FROM 8-12-19/9-13-19 WHEN THEY CALLED ME TELLING ME I NEEDED TO RETURN THE RENTAL CAR AND PICK MY VEHICLE AS THEY COULDN'T DO ANYTHING FOR THE ACCELERATION I WOULD HAVE TO WAIT FOR AN UPDATE TO BE RELEASED. THEY DIDN'T CHECK THE EGR SYSTEM ONLY TOPPED IT OFF WITH COOLANT AND TOLD ME TO WATCH IT. ALL WAS FINE UNTIL 9-16-19 WHEN I WAS ON MY WAY TO WORK, ABOUT 7 MILES FROM WORK THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON I CONTINUED ON ABOUT A MILE FROM MY WORK LOCATION THE SERVICE THROTTLE CONTROL LIGHT ILLUMINATED I LOST THE ABILITY TO ACCELERATE AND ABOUT 1/4-1/2 MILE AWAY FROM THE WORK LOCATION THE LOW OIL PRESSURE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND VEHICLE DIED. I FINISHED COASTING INTO THE DRIVEWAY AND PARKED WENT INSIDE TO GET WORK RELATED PAPERWORK I NEEDED AND CAME BACK OUTSIDE AND SEE SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. I OPEN THE HOOD TO SEE WHAT WAS GOING ON AND THERE WAS SMOKE/FIRE ON THE LEFT SIDE OF ENGINE BAY WHEN STARING IN (INTAKE, EGR AREA) AT THAT POINT I GOT IN TO THE VEHICLE TO PUT IT IN NEUTRAL VIA DISENGAGEMENT LEVER TO ROLL VEHICLE AWAY FROM THE HOUSE I GOT IT AWAY FROM THE HOUSE AND GOT OUT AND AWAY AND CALLED FIRE DEPARTMENT TO COME EXTINGUISH THE FIRE AS IT WAS ENGULFED IN FLAMES AT THAT POINT. RESULTING IN A TOTAL LOSS OF THE VEHICLE. NOW AFTERWARDS THERE IS NOW A RECALL FOR THE EGR COOLER THAT "MAY FATIGUE AND CAUSE VEHICLE FIRE" CHRYSLER HAS BEEN CONTACTED AND AREN'T WILLING TO DO ANYTHING THEY SENT OUT BOSCH AUTOMOTIVE ENGINEERING PEOPLE TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE IT WAS STATED THERE WAS NO VEHICLE MANUFACTURING DEFECT. A BUYBACK CLAIM HAS BEEN STARTED BUT I HAVE NOT HEARD ANYTHING TO THIS POINT.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 RAM 1500. WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN, THE FRONT AIR SUSPENSION FAILED AND DID NOT RAISE BACK UP. THE CONTACT CALLED A DEALER (BYERS AUTOMOTIVE LOCATED AT 401 N HAMILTON, RD, COLUMBUS, OH 43213 PHONE NUMBER 1-888-468-1325) AND WAS ADVISED TO BRING THE VEHICLE IN FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA TO FILE A COMPLAINT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 53,000. CONSUMER STATED HERE ARE SOME ATTACHED PHOTOS FOR MY COMPLAINT. IN PHOTO YOU CAN SEE THE FRONT IS DROPPED TO ENTRY MODE. WHILE THE REAR IS IN OFF ROAD SETTING. (THE 4TH LEVEL) ENTRY MODE MEANS THAT MEANS AIRBAGS COMPLETELY DEFLATED. IF SYSTEM IS NORMAL IT WILL NOT ALLOW YOU TO DRIVE IN THIS MODE. I WILL ALSO ATTACH SCREEN SHOTS OF WHAT OTHER PEOPLE HAVE WRITTEN IN THE FORUMS I HAVE BEEN LOOKING AT. *JB

2016 ECODIESEL HAS A MALFUNCTIONING EGR COOLER AND LEAKS COOLANT INTO THE EXHAUST SYSTEM THUS CAUSING SEVERAL ISSUES: CEL CODE P20EE, LOSS OF COOLANT AT A RATE OF 2 GALLONS PER WEEK, DPF ISSUE & DEF INJECTOR ISSUES. RAM CUSTOMER CARE SAYS I SHOULD JUST DRIVE IT AND "MONITOR" THE COOLANT LEVEL AND I GET TO PAY FOR THAT AT 20.00 A GALLON AT TWO GALLONS PER WEEK UNTIL JANUARY 2020 OR LATER. WITH THE POSSIBILITY THAT THE ENGINE WILL GET ON FIRE.. THERE IS A FIX, SO RAM SAYS BUT NO PARTS AND WE ARE TO DRIVE A VEHICLE WITH MAJOR ISSUE FOR MONTHS? APPEARS RAM DOESN'T CARE ABOUT CUSTOMER SAFETY ONLY THEIR MONEY. GREEDY, GREEDY...

I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY WHEN MY 'AIR SUSPENSION NEEDS SERVICE IMMEDIATELY'. THE AIR SUSPENSION FAILED AND DROPPED MY 2016 RAM 1500 REBEL INTO ENTRY/EXIT MODE. MAKING IT VERY DIFFICULT AND ROUGH TO DRIVE.

WHEN THE VEHICLE'S HVAC IS ACTIVATED A VERY STRONG SMELL OF EXHAUST FUMES PERMEATES THE CAB OF THE VEHICLE. A HAZE FROM THE EXHAUST ALSO ENTERS INTO THE CAB. BOTH OF THESE OCCURS WHETHER THE VEHICLE IS STOPPED OR MOVING. THIS REQUIRES THAT THE HVAC NOT BE OPERATED.
