EXHAUST OR FUMES IN CABIN W REAR AC

  2. Other or unspecified, Jul 30, 2017

UPON ACCELERATION, THE CAB FILLS WITH FUMES AND EXHAUST, BLOWING INTO THE VEHICLE FROM THE VENTS. THE FUMES DO NOT DISSIPATE FOR 4 MINUTES. THE PROBLEM REOCCURS EVERY TIME THE CAR IS ACCELERATED BEYOND 2000 RMS, WHETHER FROM A COMPLETE STOP, OR IN THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC.

  3. Other or unspecified, Jul 29, 2017

STRANGE SMELL IN CABIN OF CAR WHEN FIRST TURN AIR CONDITIONING ON. MY DAUGHTER DESCRIBES IT AS "STINKY FEET".

  4. Steering, Jul 29, 2017

THIS PAST WINTER MY WIFE COMPLAINED ABOUT A POPPING SOUND WHEN BACKING OUR 2015 FORD EXPLORER SPORT INTO THE GARAGE. THE PROBLEM HAS NOW BECOME INTERMITTENT AND OCCURS WHILE DRIVING ON THE ROADWAY.

  5. Other or unspecified, Jul 29, 2017

TAKATA RECALL, STRONG ODOR INSIDE CAR. STRONG ODOR WHENEVER AIR CONDITIONER IS ON. STRONG EGG SMELL. BAD SMELLS COMING THROUGH VENTS. EXPERIENCING EXTREMELY BAD HEADACHES AND DIZZINESS.

  6. Fuel/propulsion system, Jul 29, 2017

7/25/2017 DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AT 55 MPH, PASSED A VEHICLE ACCELERATING TO APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH. WITHIN SECONDS OF SLOWING BACK TO 55 MPH PASSENGER CABIN FILLED WITH FUMES (SMELLS LIKE BURNING HAIR) OPENED ALL WINDOWS BUT BREATHING VERY DIFFICULT, HAD TO PULL OFF ROAD AND EXIT VEHICLE UNTIL CLEAR. AIR CONDITIONER WAS NOT SET ON RECIRCULATE AT THE TIME. THIS HAS BEEN A RECURRING PROBLEM AND DEALER SUPPOSEDLY "FIXED" IN JUNE 2016. HOWEVER, THIS INCIDENT WAS THE FIRST TIME I HAD TO GET OUT OF THE VEHICLE. PROBLEM SEEMS TO OCCUR MORE OFTEN WHEN AIR CONDITIONER ON OR SET TO RECIRCULATE, BUT DOES OCCUR WHEN A/C NOT IN USE. DEVELOPED A HEADACHE SHORTLY AFTER INCIDENT.

  7. Power train, Engine, Jul 29, 2017

AFTER COMPLETING A LEFT TURN ON A WARM SUNNY DRY CLEAR DAY ON A FLAT ROAD SURFACE I HAD ACCELERATED NORMALLY UP TO ABOUT 30 MILES AN HOUR (SPEED LIMIT 45) AND ALL OF THE SUDDEN COMPLETELY LOST POWER. FOR A SECOND I THOUGHT THE CAR HAD STALLED SO I PUT IT IN NEUTRAL AND TRIED TO RESTART BUT IT WAS IN FACT STILL RUNNING. IT WOULD NOT REV AT ALL. I PUT THE TRUCK BACK INTO GEAR AND TURNED ON MY FOUR-WAY FLASHERS. PRESSING THE GAS DID ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING ROUGH AND I WAS ABLE TO GO ABOUT 5 MILES AN HOUR FOR ABOUT 500 FEET AT WHICH POINT I PULLED INTO A PARKING LOT AND STARTED SWEARING AT MY 2015 EXPLORER WITH UNDER 23K MILES WHICH COULD HAVE KILLED ME IF IT HAD LOST POWER 30 SECONDS SOONER WHILE I WAS TURNING LEFT. THIS IS VERY CLEARLY A HEALTH AND SAFETY DEFECT AND THIS VEHICLE SHOULD BE RECALLED ASAP. OBVIOUSLY I CANNOT ALLOW MY WIFE AND CHILD TO DRIVE IN THIS VEHICLE. I'VE BEEN DRIVING FOR OVER 25 YEARS AND HAVE NEVER HAD ANYTHING LIKE THIS HAPPEN.

  8. Other or unspecified, Jul 28, 2017

WHEN EXCELERATING ONTO FREEWAY A BURNING SMELL COMING OUT OF VENTS INTO CAR. WHEN IDLING CAR AT STOP LIGHT BURNING SMELL COMING OUT OF VENTS INTO CAR. WHITE SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER HOOD WHILE IDLING ALONG WITH THE BURNING SMELL. HAVE TAKEN IT TO FORD MANY TIMES AND THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING. WAS DOCUMENTED WHEN I HAD MY 1ST OIL CHANGE ON THE CAR.

THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE FACE, CHEST, AND LEFT ARM. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS NOT REQUIRED. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. PRIOR TO THE CRASH, THE CONTACT'S WIFE EXPERIENCED REALLY BAD HEADACHES. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 28,400. ..UPDATED 08/03/17 *BF *TR

  10. Structure, Other or unspecified, Engine, Jul 28, 2017

SINCE PURCHASED BRAND NEW IN 2015, WE NOTICED WHEN ACCELERATING THAT THERE WAS AN EXHAUST SMELL INSIDE THE CAB WITH THE WINDOWS CLOSED. WE ALSO NOTICED ON LONG TRIPS WE WOULD GET HEADACHES AND FEEL SLEEPY/WEAK. CALLED THE DEALER AND COMPLAINED ABOUT EXHAUST ODOR, AND WAS TOLD IT WOULD BE 600-700 DOLLARS TO RESEAL THE CAB AND DO SOME OTHER REPAIRS. I FEEL THIS IS NOT FAIR AND THIS IS A DEFECT THE VEHICLE HAD SINCE NEW.

  11. Fuel/propulsion system, Jul 28, 2017

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 FORD EXPLORER. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, IT WOULD NOT START WHEN PROMPTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO MIKE REICHENBACH FORD IN FLORENCE, SOUTH CAROLINA WHERE A DIAGNOSTIC TEST WAS PERFORMED. THE DEALER DETERMINED THAT THE WIRES WITHIN THE FUEL PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO DUVAL FORD IN JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA WHERE THE FUEL PUMP WAS REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000.

EXHAUST SMELL IN CABIN WHEN PASSING OR CLIMBING GRADES

  13. Other or unspecified, Jul 28, 2017

SINCE JANUARY 2017, I HAVE OCCASIONS NOTICED A SULFUR TYPE EXHAUST SMELL IN THE VEHICLE CABIN WHEN MODERATELY ACCELERATING. I HAVE HAD IT IN FOR SERVICE FOR THIS PROBLEM 4 TIMES. TSB SOLUTIONS WERE PERFORMED THE FIRST 3 TIMES, AND IN KUNE 2017, I WAS TOLD THERE IS NO PROBLEM FOUND AND I SHOULD TAKE IT TO ANOTHER FORD DEALERSHIP FOR FURTHER SERVICE ON THIS PROBLEM. SINCE THE LAST SERVICE DATE OF 6/20/17, I HAVE DOCUMENTED 4 MORE OCCURRENCES OF NOTING THIS SMELL IN MY VEHICLE CABIN.

  14. Other or unspecified, Jul 28, 2017

CARBON MONOXIDE SMELL DURING ACCELERATION. SOMETIME MAKES ME DIZZY. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALER NUMEROUS TIMES AND HAVE BEEN TOLD BY THE SERVICE DEPT MANAGER THAT IT IS A DESIGN FLAW.

  15. Structure, Jul 28, 2017

DURING THE USE OF THE VENTILATION SYSTEM THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE WILL FILL WITH EXHAUST ODOR WHILE SITTING STILL OR DURING MOVEMENT DOWN ALL ROADS. THIS SMELL GROWS THE MORE THE VEHICLE SPEEDS UP. THE VEHICLE HAS 30K MILES. THIS VEHICLE IS A QUICK RESPONSE VEHICLE FOR AN EMERGENCY SERVICES ORGANIZATION.

  16. Engine, Jul 28, 2017

CARBON MONOXIDE COMES THROUGH THE A/C VENTS WHEN I HIT 50/55 MPH.

  17. Fuel/propulsion system, Jul 28, 2017

STRONG SMELL OF ROTTEN EGGS ON HEAVY ACCELERATION. IF THIS OCCURS ON HEAVY ACCELERATION, THEN THE CARBON MONOXIDE INFILTRATION IS CONSTANT, BUT SINCE NO ODOR ASSOCIATED WITH CO, THAT IS UNDETECTABLE!

  18. Engine, Jul 24, 2017

I PURCHASED THE 2015 FORD EXPLORER USED FROM A LOCAL DEALERSHIP AROUND JULY, 2016. MY FAMILY NOTICED AN ODOR (OF EXHAUST FUMES) IN THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE. IT HAPPENED EVERY TIME I ACCELERATED QUICKLY. MORE SPECIFICALLY, I WAS AT A COMPLETE STOP AND THEN TOOK OFF QUICKLY TO GET ONTO A HIGHWAY. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP FROM WHICH I PURCHASED IT. THEY TESTED IT AND CONFIRMED MY COMPLAINT. THEY CONTACTED THE ENGINEERS AT FORD TO SEE HOW TO FIX THE PROBLEM. I WAS TOLD THAT MY CAR WAS GOING TO BE A GUINEA PIG. THEY REPLACED A SEAL AND DID SOMETHING THAT REQUIRED THEM TO REMOVE THE REAR END OF THE VEHICLE. THE DEALERSHIP DID NOT CHARGE ME FOR THE SERVICE. THEY ALSO PROVIDED ME WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE TO DRIVE. WHEN I GOT MY VEHICLE BACK, I COULD STILL SMELL THE ODOR. AGAIN, I NOTICED IT WHEN I ACCELERATED QUICKLY. THIS TIME, I COULD SMELL IT ABOUT 1 MINUTE AFTER THE QUICK ACCELERATION. DURING THE ACCELERATION, MY AIR CONDITIONING DEFAULTED TO AN "OFF" POSITION TEMPORARILY. I WAS CONCERNED, SO I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE SAME DEALERSHIP. MY CAR HAS BEEN AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR OVER A WEEK THIS TIME. I HAVE NOT GOTTEN IT BACK YET. THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY ORDERED A NEW EXHAUST SYSTEM. I ASKED SPECIFICALLY IF IT WAS DIFFERENT FROM THE PREVIOUS ONE. THEY TOLD ME IT WAS DIFFERENT. AGAIN, THEY ARE NOT GOING TO CHARGE ME FOR THE REPAIRS. I DON'T THINK THE DEALERSHIP SHOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS EITHER THOUGH. I THINK FORD SHOULD COVER ALL REPAIRS FOR THIS EXHAUST PROBLEM. TO MAKE MATTERS WORSE, THE EXPLORER THEY PUT ME IN WHILE MINE WAS IN THE SHOP HAD THE SAME EXHAUST ODOR IN THE CABIN. I REPORTED IT TO THE DEALERSHIP, AND THEY PROVIDED ME A FLEX TO DRIVE. HOW CAN FORD EXPECT THEIR SALES TEAM TO SELL THESE VEHICLES KNOWING THAT THERE COULD BE POISONOUS GASSES GOING INTO THEIR CABIN?

  19. Vehicle speed control, Engine, Jul 24, 2017

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 FORD EXPLORER. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE CONTACT APPLIED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WITH FORCE AND SMELLED AN EXHAUST ODOR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (BILL UTTER FORD LOCATED AT 4901 S INTERSTATE 35 E, DENTON, TX 76210; (940) 321-7400) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED AND REPAIRED. THE REPAIR SPECIFICS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL OTHER TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AT 800-392-3673 AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 24,000.

  20. Other or unspecified, Jul 24, 2017

2015 FORD EXPLORER POLICE VEHICLE WAS LEAKING CARBON MONOXIDE INTO CABIN OF VEHICLE. FORD SAID THEIR WAS A BULLETIN BUT NO RECALL FOR THE PROBLEM. THE COST TO GET IT FIXED WAS 691.15. IT IS UNKNOWN IF VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION OR STATIONARY.

  21. Steering, Jul 24, 2017

POWER STEERING FAILED AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED.

  22. Other or unspecified, Jul 18, 2017

SINCE THE MOMENT WE DROVE THE CAR OFF THE LOT IT HAS PUT OFF AN AWFUL EXHAUST SMELL WHEN ACCELERATING OR DRIVING ON AN UPWARD INCLINE. IT IS SO BAD WE HAVE TO ROLL DOWN THE WINDOWS MOST OF THE TIME TO KEEP FROM GETTING SICK TO OUR STOMACHS.

  23. Other or unspecified, Engine, Jul 17, 2017

THE EXHAUST OF THE FUMES COMING INTO THE CABIN OCCURS DURING FULL THROTTLE APPLICATIONS, ESPECIALLY WHEN MERGING ONTO HIGHWAYS OR CLIMBING STEEP INCLINES AND SINCE THE START OF THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN CAUSING MEMBERS OF MY FAMILY HEALTH PROBLEMS SUCH AS ASTHMA. WE HAVE FILED A COMPLAINT WITH FORD AT LEAST 3 TIMES FOR WHICH THEY HELD THE VEHICLE 3-4 DAYS FOR INSPECTION, BUT FOUND NO DISCREPANCY, WE WONDER WHY THEY CAN'T SMELL IT AS IT HAPPENS WHEN IT IS BEING DRIVEN ON THE FREEWAY AND DURING INSTANCES MENTIONED ABOVE.

  24. Other or unspecified, Jul 16, 2017

EXHAUST/POSSIBLY CARBON MONOXIDE SMELL INSIDE PASSENGER AREA. AFTER HEAVY ACCELERATION EXHAUST ODOR FILLS CABIN. THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME THERE IS A NEED FOR HEAVY ACCELERATION. THIS HAPPENED SINCE THE AUTO WAS NEW. I NOTICED ON A CNN REPORT THAT THIS ONLY HAPPENED ON POLICE VEHICLES. THAT IS NOT THE CASE. THIS IS NOT A POLICE VEHICLE.

  25. Other or unspecified, Jul 6, 2017

ROTTEN SMELL COMING FROM CAR EVERY TIME WE GET ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE A/C IS ON. TRIED TO TALK TO LOCAL FORD AND NATIONAL HOTLINE, ALL I GOT IS IT'S AN ISSUE AND WE ARE WORKING ON IT. THE FUMES ARE TOXIC FROM WHAT I'VE READ SO NOT A GOOD ANSWER TO GET ON A NEW CAR PURCHASE.
