WE HAVE EXHAUST PROBLEMS IN OUR VEHICLE. WE DO UNDERSTAND THAT MANY OTHER EXPLORER OWNERS HAVE SIMILAR PROBLEMS, BUT NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM YET. THE LAST TIME WE WERE AT THE DEALERS FOR REPAIR, MAY 19, 2017, WE WERE TOLD THAT THEY HAVE BACKORDERED PARTS FOR TSB- 16-0166. WE STILL HAVE NOT HEARD FROM THE DEALER. MY WIFE GETS SORE THROATS AND BURNING EYES WHEN IN THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE GETS THE EXHAUST FUMES INSIDE. THE STRONGEST IS WHEN GOING UPHILL OR A FAST START. ALSO, WHEN STOPPED IN ONE SPOT FOR LONG. WE HAVE TO DRIVE WITH THE WINDOWS OPEN TO AIR THE VEHICLE OUT VERY OFTEN. SOMETIMES THE CAR INTERIOR SMELLS AND OUR CLOTHES SMELL. CAN ANYTHING BE DONE ABOUT THIS PROBLEM? IT IS A VERY EXPENSIVE VEHICLE THAT IS MAKING US SICK. SOME INVOICES ATTACHED. OTHERS WOULD NOT GO THROUGH CORRECTLY. I SENT PICTURES TO THEM BUT HAVE SINCE DELETED THEM I WILL TAKE MORE THE NEXT TIME IT RAINS WHEN I'M TRAVELING.

POISONOUS EXHAUST LEAKING INTO CABIN OF THE VEHICLE. TOOK IT TO BERGE FORD. THEY SUPPOSEDLY FIXED IT BUT IT DID NOT GET RID OF THE LEAK SO WE TOOK IT BACK. IT IS CURRENTLY IN THE SHOP AT BERGE AGAIN WHILE THE TECHNICIANS TALK WITH FORD SPECIALISTS TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO FIX IT. I HAD TO PAY $100 SO FAR FOR A DEDUCTABLE FOR THE REPAIRS. THIS SHOULD BE A RECAL!!!! MY SON AND I GET FREQUENT HEADACHES WHEN DRIVING BECAUSE OF THE NOXIOUS FUMES!!!! I AM STUCK IN A TINY RENTAL CAR UNTIL THIS IS FIXED. FORD NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. WE TOOK THE SHOP FORMAN AND SERVICE TECHNICIAN WITH US TO SMELL THE EXHAUST FUMES AND THEY AGREED THERE IS A SIGNIFICANT EXHUAST SMELL IN THE VEHICLE AND IT IS UNEXCEPTABLE!!!!!

GETTING EXHAUST SMELL IN PASSENGER AREA OF VEHICLE WHEN PROCEEDING DOWN HIGHWAYS. WE CAN NOT KEEP WINDOWS DOWN WHEN RUNNING AIR CONDITIONING OR HEATER, EVEN IN THE RAIN.

  16. Other or unspecified, Jun 2, 2017

VEHICLE EXHIBITS AN EXHAUST ODOR IN THE VEHICLE WITH THE AUXILIARY CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEM ON. WHEN VEHICLE ACCELERATES OR IS DRIVEN FOR A LONG PERIOD OF TIME WITH THE CLIMATE CONTROL ON, AN EXHAUST ODOR OR SULFUR LIKE SMELL ENTERS THE INTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE WHEN YOU COME TO A STOP. THE SMELL IS SO STRONG AS IT CAUSES SEVERE HEADACHES AND EVEN NAUSEA AFTER DRIVING THE VEHICLE. FORD HAS RECOMMENDED A SERVICE BULLETIN TO FIX THE ISSUE BUT CAN NOT PIN POINT NOR GUARANTEE THAT IT WILL FIX THE ISSUE. FORD HAS NOT OFFERED TO PAY FOR THIS SINCE IT IS OUTSIDE OF THE WARRANTY EVEN THOUGH THIS IS A KNOW ISSUE WITH 2011-2015 FORD EXPLORERS.

  17. Other or unspecified, Jun 1, 2017

I AM EXPERIENCING SOME TYPE OF UNUSUAL ODOR IN THE CABIN OF MY 2015 FORD EXPLORER VEHICLE USUALLY WHEN THE ENGINE IS PUT UNDER HARD ACCELERATION LIKE CLIMBING A STEEP HILL OR ACCELERATING TO GET ONTO A HIGHWAY. THIS CABIN ODOR ISSUE HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NEW. IT MOST RECENTLY HAPPENED YESTERDAY. I CURRENTLY HAVE 46,000 ON THE VEHICLE. THANK YOU.

  18. Other or unspecified, Engine, May 30, 2017

WHEN DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND ACCELERATING THE CAR IMMEDIATELY STALLED AND I HAD TO PULL OF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD FOR SAFETY. I WAS ON A COUNTRY ROAD AND ABLE TO RESTART MY CAR WITHOUT ISSUE TILL 1 WEEK LATER WHEN I WAS DOWNTOWN DRIVING HOME AT 1:00AM AND I HAD TO PUSH MY CAR ONE BLOCK IN ORDER TO GET TO A SAFE PLAY AND GET A TOW. IT HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP FOR OVER 1 MONTH WITH FORD SAYING ITS A NUMBER OF THINGS IT ISN'T. IT IS TILL UNDER WARRANTY AND I BELIEVE THIS IS AN ISSUE WITH THE ECOBOOST ON THE VEHICLE. THIS IN ITS OWN COULD HAVE BEEN A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN EVEN WORSE IF I WAS ON THE INTERSTATE (WHICH IS WHERE I WAS HEADED) THEY INITIALLY SAID IT WAS THE POWER TRAIN MODULE AND WE WAITED ON THE PART FOR 1 MONTH AND IT DIDN'T FIX ANYTHING. NOW THEY ARE STATING ITS THE TUBING FOR THE TURBO ENGINE (ECOBOOST) AND WE CONTINUE TO WAIT ON THE PART AND THE REPAIR. THIS EXPLORER HAS 34,000 AND IS A RED FORD EXPLORER ECOBOOST.

  19. Engine, May 30, 2017

ENGINE WAS SHAKING VIBRANTLY AT IDLE. IT WAS NOT MOVING UNLESS YOU STEPPED MORE INTO THE ACCELERATION AND THAT MADE IT DANGEROUS TO JUDGE. IT DOES NOT HAVE THE ACCELERATION NEEDED TO DRIVE UPHILL EVEN YOU STEP DOWN ON IT. CAR DOESN'T AUTO START WITH KEY FOB.

  20. Suspension, Wheels, May 27, 2017, crash

WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE ON HIGHWAY, LOST CONTROL AND WAS BARLEY ABLE TO STOP TRUCK AFTER RIGHT LOWER CONTROL ARM BROKE IN HALF. BALL JOINT WAS ALSO COMPLETELY OUT OF SOCKET. I DON'T SEE HOW SOMETHING THIS DANGEROUS AND UNSAFE CAN HAPPEN WHILE DRIVING.

  21. Other or unspecified, May 25, 2017

WHEN I NOTICE MY CAR WASN'T RIGHT. 1-WHEN I WAS IN MOTION,EVERY TIME I ACCELERATED A BURNING SMELL CAME FROM THE INSIDE,HAD TO OPEN MY WINDOW BUT THE SMELL GOT STRONGER. 2-I NOTICE A YELLOISH BROWNISH STAIN ON THE PASSENGER SIDE WINDSHIELD. 3-WHEN I DROVE MY CAR AND GOT OUT OF CAR,THE BURNING SMELL WAS AROUND MY CAR.

  22. Engine, May 25, 2017

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 FORD EXPLORER. WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE VEHICLE LOST POWER AND SLOWED DOWN INDEPENDENTLY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AN UNKNOWN WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE STALLED AND WAS ABLE TO BE RESTARTED. THE FAILURE RECURRED THREE MORE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AUTONATION FORD (ST. PETERSBURG 2525 34TH ST N, ST. PETERSBURG, FL 33713) WHERE THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE VEHICLE OR REPLICATE THE FAILURE; HOWEVER, THE ALTERNATOR AND BATTERY WERE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND MENTIONED THAT THEY WOULD CALL BACK TO INFORM THE CONTACT OF WHETHER THE VEHICLE'S WARRANTY WOULD BE EXTENDED. THE CONTACT ALSO CALLED A LEMON LAW HOTLINE AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE LAW DID NOT APPLY TO THE CASE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 31,000.

WHILE DRIVING WITH AIR RECIRCULATING, CAN SMELL EXHAUST INSIDE CAR AT HIGHER RPM. WHILE ACCELERATING ON STRAIGHT HIGHWAY.

  24. Other or unspecified, May 19, 2017

EVERY TIME I TURN ON THE A/C THERE IS A NASTY SMELL THAT COMES TO LIFE AND LINGERS FOR ABOUT 3 MINS. MY CAR WAS PURCHASED BRAND NEW AND THE SMELL HAPPENED RIGHT AWAY, I BRUSHED IT OFF AS NEW CAR SMELL BUT THIS IS THE 2ND SUMMER IN WHICH THE SMELL CONTINUES TO FILL THE AIR WHEN THE A/C IS ON. THIS ODOR SMELLS UNSAFE FOR ME AND MY KIDS. I HAVE RESEARCHED AND FOUND MANY MANY OTHERS HAVE COMPLAINED OF THE SAME THING. I CALLED THE SERVICE DEPT. IN WHICH THEY TOLD ME I HAVE TO BUY A NEW FILTER FOR MY BRAND NEW CAR. THIS DOESNT MAKE SENSE. I CALLED CUSTOMER SERVICE TO WHICH THEY SAID THEY CAN NOT ASSIST IN THIS MATTER. WHY HASNT THERE BEEN A RECALL YET? IF FORD CAN CONFIRM THIS ODOR IS HARMLESS THEN PLEASE SEND THE A LETTER STATING SO. I HAVE ASKED FOR THIS AND THEY STATE THEY CANNOT PROVIDE AS SUCH. EVERY TIME I TURN ON THE A/C I AM BREATHING IN FUMES OF UNKNOWN SUBSTANCES. HOW LONG BEFORE THE ODORS ARE FOUND TO BE HARMFUL AND THE DAMAGE TO MY HEALTH AND MY CHILDRENS HEALTH IS COMPROMISED? PLEASE HELP MAKE FORD RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS.

  25. Engine, May 16, 2017

EXHAUST FUMES IN THE COCKPIT. AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE (2ND OWNER) WE STARTED SMELLING EXHAUST SMELLS WHEN ACCELERATING ON TO THE INTERSTATE. THIS WOULD HAPPEN WITH MODERATE OR HIGHER ACCELERATION WITH 1 OR 2 OCCUPANTS OR MODERATE WITH FULL TANK OF GAS AND 4 OCCUPANTS AND LUGGAGE. DEALER PERFORMED TECHNICAL BULLETIN - NO FIX. DEALER THEN UPDATED COMPUTER SOFTWARE - NO FIX. DEALER THEN REPLACED ENTIRE EXHAUST SYSTEM - NO FIX. SERVICE MANAGER ADVISED HE WAS OUT OF OPTIONS AND I SHOULD CALL FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE AT 800-392-3673. FINALLY TALKED TO SAMANTHA WHO EVENTUALLY TOLD ME THERE WAS NOTHING FORD COULD DO BECAUSE THE NHTSA DID NOT CONSIDER THIS A SAFETY ISSUE.
