Service brakes, hydraulic, antilock/traction control/electronic limited slip, control unit/moduleDec 18, 2019
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2006-2010 Ford Fusion, Mercury Milan, Lincoln Zephyr and MKZ vehicles. The valves within the ABS Hydraulic Control Units (HCU) may react with brake fluids containing specific corrosion preventative additives. This reaction may cause the valves to not close properly.
If the valves do not properly close, additional brake pedal travel may be required to stop the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will flush the brake system with DOT 4 fluid and install a new brake fluid reservoir cap. In addition, the HCU will be tested to detect a possible stuck valve condition, replacing the HCU as necessary. All services will be performed free of charge. The recall began April 1, 2021. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 19S54.

Fuel system, gasoline, storage, auxillary tankNov 24, 2015
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2010-2011 Ford Fusion vehicles manufactured July 21, 2008, to March 4, 2011, and 2010-2011 Mercury Milan vehicles manufactured July 23, 2008, to December 10, 2010. The affected vehicles have fuel vapor canisters whose purge valves may not operate properly resulting in abnormal pressure changes in the fuel tank.
The pressure changes may cause the tank to crack and leak fuel. A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source increases the risk of a fire.
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will update the vehicle powertrain control modules and inspect the vehicle for any diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) for this issue and perform a leak test on the Canister Purge Valve (CPV). The fuel tank will be inspected for cracks. The CPV and fuel tank will be replaced as necessary. These repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began on January 15, 2016. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 15S34.

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain all weather driver side accessory floor mats sold for use in model year 2006-2011 Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan, 2006 Lincoln Zephyr, and 2007-2011 Lincoln MKZ vehicles manufactured November 9, 2007, through October 31, 2010. The affected floor mats may move and possibly interfere with the accelerator pedal.
The floor mat could shift such that it could interfere with the accelerator pedal, preventing its return to an idle position, which could result in unintended vehicle speeds, increasing the risk of a crash.
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will install new replacement mats, free of charge. The recall began in July 2014. Owners may contact Ford's customer service at 1-800-392-3673. Ford's number for this recall is 14S07. NOTE: Vehicles built after October 31, 2010, while potentially equipped with the same floor mats, are equipped with a Brake Over Accelerator (BOA) feature that prevents simultaneous accelerator and brake application, allowing the vehicle to be safely stopped by pressing firmly and steadily on the brake pedal.

UPON ACCELERATING FROM A DEAD STOP AT A TRAFFIC SIGNAL, I COULD NOT ACCELERATE PAST 15 MPH. I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AN THE CAR WAS IDLING VERY ROUGHLY AND ON THE VERGE OF STALLING. I TURNED THE CAR OFF, WAITED 1-2 MINUTES, RESTARTED THE CAR AND THE CAR WAS RUNNING "NORMALLY". I DON'T RECALL IF ANY OF THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS CAME ON. I TOOK THE VEHICLE INTO MY LOCAL FORD DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT THE ISSUE IS THE THROTTLE BODY AND IT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AND THAT THE STALLING COULD HAPPEN AT ANY GIVEN TIME. UNFORTUNATELY THE PART ID ON BACK-ORDER FOR 1-2 MONTHS SO I NEED TO LIVE WITH THIS DANGEROUS ISSUE FOR SOME TIME. THE CAR IS A 2010 FORD FUSION. I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER (PURCHASED IN DEC '09) AND THIS IS THE FIRST OCCURRENCE OF THIS STALLING ISSUE. *TR

I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT ABOUT 65 MPH WHEN MY VEHICLE LOST POWER. PUSHING THE GAS DID NOTHING. I HAD TO COAST OFF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. RESTARTING MY VEHICLE SEEMED TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE. THE SECOND INCIDENT WAS IN TOWN. I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 35 MPH WHEN MY VEHICLE LOST POWER. I PULLED OFF TO THE SIDE , THE VEHICLE SPUTTERED AS IF IT MIGHT DIE. I TURNED OFF THE ENGINE AND THEN RESTARTED IT. I DROVE ABOUT 1/4 MILE TO MY MECHANIC WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM WITH HIS SCANNER. HE THINKS IT IS THE " DRIVE BY WIRE " OR A SENSOR. *TR

I PURCHASED MY 2010 FORD FUSION IN APRIL OF 2012 AND HAVE HAD MANY INCIDENTS OF THE "CHECK FUEL INLET" MESSAGE AFTER FILLING UP. SOMETIMES IT WILL TRIGGER THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO ILLUMINATE. I HAVE HAD A DIAGNOSTIC TEST RAN WHEN THIS HAS OCCURRED AND WAS TOLD IT WAS THAT THE GAS FLAP DIDN'T SEAL PROPERLY WHEN I REMOVED THE FUEL NOZZLE. THIS AGAIN OCCURRED ON AUG. 17, 2013 BUT THE CAR WAS RUNNING FINE. THEN ON AUG. 22 I HAD 3 INCIDENTS WITHIN 30 MINUTES OF EACH OTHER. THE FIRST INCIDENT WAS WHILE TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH THE WRENCH WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AND THE VEHICLE LOST ALL POWER. I MANAGED TO GET THE VEHICLE TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD. I TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND RESTARTED IT AND WAS ABLE TO TRAVEL THE NEXT 4 MILES WITH SOME SPUTTERING AND RACING OF THE ENGINE. THE SECOND INCIDENT I WAS PULLING AWAY FROM THE CURB TRYING TO ACCELERATE. THE WRENCH WARNING LIGHT CAME BACK ON AND THE VEHICLE HAD NO POWER. THE THIRD INCIDENT I WAS TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH WHEN THE ENGINE AGAIN LOST POWER AND THE WRENCH WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS ISSUE IT SEEMS TO BE A COMMON OCCURRENCE AND SHOULD BECOME A RECALL BY FORD MOTOR COMPANY. *TR

FIRST INCIDENT WAS VEHICLE STALLED WHILE ENTERING A INTERSECTION FROM A STOP SIGN. STALLED HALF WAY INTO INTERSECTION AND HAD A NEAR MISS OF BEING HIT DO TO LOSS OF POWER AND OTHER TRAFFIC NOT HAVING TO STOP IN THEIR DIRECTION. CAR WAS DIESELING WHEN IT CAME TO A STOP ,HAD TO BE SHUT OFF, THEN RESTARTED WITH NO PROBLEMS OR INDICATOR LIGHTS AFTERWARD. THIS SAME STALLING HAS HAPPENED AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS OF 60 MPH + AND ON SIDE ROADS AT 30 MPH. FROM STOPS TO FULL POWER GOING UP HILLS OR TRYING TO PASS ANOTHER CAR. NO POWER TO MOVE CAR EXIST ONCE IT HAS HAPPENED ,YOU MUST COME TO A COMPLETE STOP , SHUT COMPLETELY OFF AND THEN RESTART. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST A DOZEN TIMES OVER LAST FEW WEEKS.TOOK TO DEALER TODAY AND WAS TOLD THROTTLE BODY IS SHOWING A FAULT AND PARTS CAN ONLY BE RECEIVED BY OVERNIGHT DELIVERY "AS THIS PART IS IN VERY HIGH DEMAND AND THEY CAN'T ORDER ONE IN AND GET IT BY REGULAR DELIVERY". *TR

I PURCHASED MY 2010 FORD FUSION SE (4 CYLINDER - SIX SPEED) IN FEBRUARY 2013. THE VEHICLE HAD 12,100 MILES AT PURCHASE. THE VEHICLE CURRENTLY HAS 16,900 MILES. I WAS TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH WHEN THE "WRENCH" WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO LOSE POWER. THE VEHICLE LITERALLY HAD NO POWER AND THE VEHICLE'S SPEED DECREASED RAPIDLY, WITH NO RESPONSE TO INCREASE POWER VIA GAS PETAL OR DOWNSHIFTING TO A LOWER GEAR. I WAS LUCKY THAT I WAS IN THE LEFT LANE, WHICH HAD A SHOULDER. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF THE HIGHWAY AND SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF. I WAITED ABOUT 2 MINUTES AND STARTED THE VEHICLE, WHICH HESITATED AT FIRST, BUT THEN STARTED. I DROVE THE CAR TO WORK AND THE VEHICLE OPERATED WITH NO ISSUES. I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO A FORD DEALERSHIP THAT EVENING FOR DIAGNOSTICS. THE NEXT DAY, THE DEALERSHIP ADVISED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I AM GLAD THAT I HAD PURCHASED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ($100.00 DEDUCTIBLE) BECAUSE THE OUT OF POCKET COST WOULD HAVE BEEN OVER $500.00, FOR A VEHICLE WITH LESS THAN 20,000 MILES. THIS COMPLAINT NEEDS TO BE FORWARD TO FORD MOTOR COMPANY IN REGARDS TO THE FAULTINESS OF THE THROTTLE BODY PART. I WAS LUCKY, BUT THIS SITUATION COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT ON THE HIGHWAY. *TR

FORD FUSION 2010 HAS DEFECTIVE ENGINE FUEL SYSTEM/COMPUTER IDENTIFYING THE THROTTLE BODY AS THE NON-FUNCTIONAL PART CAUSING A SAFETY HAZARD TO SELF AND OTHERS. AT 60 MPH FREEWAY SPEED THE CAR GOES INTO AN INSTANT "LOW RPM MODE", CAUSING COMPLETE LOSS OF FOOT PEDAL CONTROL AND RPM IMMEDIATELY REDUCED TO 800. AT THIS POINT THE CAR IS AN UNGUIDED MISSILE LOOKING TO STRIKE SOMETHING. THE POWER STEERING IS NON EXISTENT. MY CAR DID THIS ON 8-19-2013 WITH ONLY 12303 MILES ON IT. THIS HAS TO BE AN ELECTRICAL MALFUNCTION OF THE THROTTLE BODY SENSING CIRCUITRY BEING DEFECTIVE. IT IS ONLY A LITTLE MORE TIME UNTIL THIS GETS SOMEONE KILLED. AFTER STOPPING WITH A DEAD ENGINE, STARTING AGAIN RESULTS IN VERY ROUGH IDLING AND NO MORE THAN 800 RPM, WHICH IS INCAPABLE OF MOVING THE CAR. SHUTOFF THE IGNITION, CHECK AND HAVE GOOD OIL AND TRANSMISSION AND COOLING LEVELS. STARTED THE CAR AGAIN AND IT WAS BACK TO NORMAL, UNTIL ONE BLOCK LATER AT A STOP LIGHT......SAME THING AGAIN. IF FORD DOES NOT DO A RECALL ON THIS, THEY WILL HAVE TO SPEND MONEY ON THE RELATIVES OF THE DEAD PEOPLE'S LAWSUITS! *TR

DRIVING AT 45 MPH, CAR LOSES POWER AND/OR ACCELERATION. WRENCH LIGHT ILLUMINATES AND PULLED CAR TO SIDE OF ROAD AND VEHICLE SHAKES TERRIBLY. SHUT CAR OFF AND WAITED A COUPLE OF MINUTES AND RESTARTED CAR. WRENCH LIGHT WAS NOT ON AND CAR RAN FINE. THIS PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED ON THREE MORE OCCASION WITHIN A WEEK. DEALER COULD NOT FIND ANY CODES BUT STATED IT WOULD BE A PROBLEM WITH THE THROTTLE BODY, EVEN DRIVING THE CAR BY A MECHANIC WITH A DIAGNOSTIC TESTER, THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE THAT FORD EVIDENTLY DOES NOT WANT TO FIX UNDER WARRANTY BECAUSE THEIR IS NO CODE YET. THEIR ARE A LOT OF COMPLAINTS ON THIS ISSUE ON THE INTERNET. FORD NEEDS TO RECALL THIS PART. *TR

WHILE DOING 50 MPH ON A HIGHWAY, THE CAR SUDDENLY LOST POWER. THE MOTOR WAS STILL RUNNING, BUT IT WAS AS IF IT WAS IN IDLE. DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR DID NOTHING. I PULLED THE CAR OVER TO THE SHOULDER AND STOPPED. THE IDLE WAS EXTREMELY ROUGH. THERE WAS A 'WRENCH' INDICATOR LIGHT. I TURNED THE CAR OFF. AS I RESTARTED THE CAR, IT WAS VERY ROUGH TO START THEN AFTER A FEW SECONDS, IDLE WAS NORMAL. I DROVE WITHOUT A PROBLEM FOR ABOUT 20 MILES WHEN THE PROBLEM RE-OCCURRED IN THE EXACT SAME MANNER. WHEN I STARTED THE CAR THIS TIME, THE 'WRENCH' LIGHT WAS OFF, BUT THE 'CHECK ENGINE' LIGHT WAS ON AND REMAINED ON. THE FORD DEALERSHIP SAYS THE THROTTLE-BODY NEEDS TO BE REPLACED, AND THAT THIS IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE POWER-TRAIN WARRANTY. *TR

CAR LOST POWER WHILE DRIVING AT 45 MPH, AFTER ABOUT 10 MINUTES OF DRIVING. IT WOULD NOT RESPOND TO ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND THE WRENCH LIGHT WENT ON. I PULLED OFF TO SIDE OF ROAD; CAR RESTARTED AFTER 2-3 TRIES; DROVE WITHOUT INCIDENT FOR NEXT 1500 MILES. SINCE THEN HAS STALLED THREE TIMES, USUALLY WITHIN A FEW MINUTES OF INITIAL START DRIVING AT 30-40 MPH. EACH TIME, RESTARTS WITH ONE OR TWO TRIES AND RUNS OK, BUT FEELS SLUGGISH. *TR

I WAS TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEED WHEN SUDDENLY LOST POWER AND UNABLE TO ACCELERATE. PULLED OVER SHUT THE ENGINE OFF AND IN ABOUT 30 SECONDS RESTARTED THE ENGINE AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE OFF WITH NO ISSUES. *TR

I WAS DRIVING IN MORNING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC AND THE CAR SUDDENLY JERKED AND THEN JUST STOPPED. IT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AND I WAS BARELY ABLE TO MOVE THE CAR OFF THE ROAD. I SHUT IT OFF AND WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE CAR. HOWEVER THE CAR WAS ACTING THE SAME. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY FAILED (CODE PEWEE). *TR

MY 2010 FORD FUSION HAS STALLED SEVERAL TIMES WHILE DRIVING AND WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOPPED POSITION. SEVERAL TIMES IT HAS ALMOST CAUSED ME TO STALL IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY INTERSECTION WHEN TURNING LEFT, STOP WHILE DRIVING ON A BUSY FREEWAY, AND QUICKLY ACCELERATE WHEN MY FOOT HAS BEEN ON THE BRAKE PEDDLE. *TR

CAR LOSES POWER AND STALLS AT CITY OR HIGHWAY SPEEDS (HAVE TO PULL OVER). CAR SHUTS DOWN WHEN IDLING. FORD WAS CONTACTED BY OUR SERVICE CENTER AND WE'RE TOLD WE NEED A NEW THROTTLE BODY, BUT THEY ARE ON BACK-ORDER. THERE ARE AT LEAST 5000 ORDERS AHEAD OF US. SERVICE PERSON SAID HE IS NOT AWARE OF A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM. CAR WAS PURCHASED NEW. *TR

SITTING AT A LIGHT AND THE VEHICLE STARTED IDLING VERY ROUGH - DIPPING BELOW 500 RPM AND SURGING TO ABOUT 1200 RPM. CAR WENT INTO LIMP MODE WHEN I HIT THE GAS. PULLED INTO A GAS STATION, SHUT CAR OFF, RESTARTED AFTER ABOUT 30 SECONDS. RAN FINE FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES. THEN PROCEEDED TO IDLE ROUGH AT THE NEXT THREE STOPLIGHTS - THIS TIME NOT SURGING. CAR EVENTUALLY STALLED AND HAD TO BE RESTARTED ALL 3 TIMES. SEEMED TO RUN OK ON THE HIGHWAY, BUT STALLED ONCE MORE AT A LIGHT AFTER GETTING FF THE HIGHWAY. IDLED IT IN DRIVEWAY WHEN I GOT HOME. IDLING VERY ROUGH BUT HASN'T SURGED OR STALLED NOW. *TR

ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS, THE CAR COMPLETELY LOST POWER. IT COMPLETELY CEASED TO FUNCTION WITHOUT WARNING. FORTUNATELY, MY DAUGHTER WAS NOT INJURED. HOWEVER, IF THIS WOULD HAVE OCCURRED AS SHE DROVE AT HIGHWAY SPEED, SHE COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. AFTER DURING SOME RESEARCH, I DISCOVERED THAT THE PROBLEM WAS MOST LIKELY THE THROTTLE BODY. WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE IT WAS PURCHASED. THEY CONFIRMED MY SUSPICIONS. IT TOOK CLOSE TO A WEEK FOR THE PART TO COME IN - BECAUSE - THE SERVICE MANAGER TOLD ME - THERE WAS A HUGE WAITING LIST FOR THIS PART BECAUSE THEY KEEP FAILING. (PLUS, SHE WAS WITHOUT A CAR.) HE TOLD ME THAT FORD REALLY DOESN'T SEE THE NEED FOR A RECALL AT THIS TIME, EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE WELL AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. PEOPLE COULD DIE. ON ONE OCCASION, HER CAR FAILED GOING DOWN A VERY STEEP AND WINDING HILL. FORTUNATELY, SHE WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF OF THE ROAD. FORD'S ATTITUDE ABOUT THIS IS CRIMINAL. MY OTHER DAUGHTER ALSO HAS A FUSION. I WORRY DAILY ABOUT HER SAFETY. I AM CONSIDERING GETTING THE THROTTLE BODY CHANGED JUST TO KEEP HER SAFE. *TR
