Air bags, frontal, driver side, inflator moduleMar 10, 2021
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2007-2011 Ranger, 2006-2012 Fusion, Lincoln Zephyr, Lincoln MKZ, 2006-2011 Mercury Milan, 2007-2010 Ford Edge, and Lincoln MKX vehicles. The driver's side air bag inflator may explode due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to high absolute humidity, high temperatures, and high temperature cycling.
An inflator explosion may result in sharp metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants, resulting in serious injury or death.
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the driver-side airbag inflator or module with an alternate one, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on April 9, 2021 for the passenger side, and November 14, 2022 for the driver side. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Service brakes, hydraulic, antilock/traction control/electronic limited slip, control unit/moduleDec 18, 2019
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2006-2010 Ford Fusion, Mercury Milan, Lincoln Zephyr and MKZ vehicles. The valves within the ABS Hydraulic Control Units (HCU) may react with brake fluids containing specific corrosion preventative additives. This reaction may cause the valves to not close properly.
If the valves do not properly close, additional brake pedal travel may be required to stop the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will flush the brake system with DOT 4 fluid and install a new brake fluid reservoir cap. In addition, the HCU will be tested to detect a possible stuck valve condition, replacing the HCU as necessary. All services will be performed free of charge. The recall began April 1, 2021. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 19S54.

Air bags, frontal, passenger side, inflator moduleNov 1, 2018
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2010 Ford Fusion, Mercury Milan and 2010-2012 Lincoln MKZ vehicles that previously received a replacement passenger air bag under recall 16V-384, 17V-024 or 18V-046. In the event of a crash requiring deployment of the passenger air bag, the bracket that secures the air bag inflator to the module housing may deform, allowing the gas that inflates the air bag to leak out.
If the air bag does not inflate as intended, there is an increased risk of injury in the event of a crash.
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the passenger air bag module, free of charge. The recall began November 21, 2018. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 18S34.

Fuel system, gasoline, storage, auxillary tankNov 24, 2015
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2010-2011 Ford Fusion vehicles manufactured July 21, 2008, to March 4, 2011, and 2010-2011 Mercury Milan vehicles manufactured July 23, 2008, to December 10, 2010. The affected vehicles have fuel vapor canisters whose purge valves may not operate properly resulting in abnormal pressure changes in the fuel tank.
The pressure changes may cause the tank to crack and leak fuel. A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source increases the risk of a fire.
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will update the vehicle powertrain control modules and inspect the vehicle for any diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) for this issue and perform a leak test on the Canister Purge Valve (CPV). The fuel tank will be inspected for cracks. The CPV and fuel tank will be replaced as necessary. These repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began on January 15, 2016. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 15S34.

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain all weather driver side accessory floor mats sold for use in model year 2006-2011 Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan, 2006 Lincoln Zephyr, and 2007-2011 Lincoln MKZ vehicles manufactured November 9, 2007, through October 31, 2010. The affected floor mats may move and possibly interfere with the accelerator pedal.
The floor mat could shift such that it could interfere with the accelerator pedal, preventing its return to an idle position, which could result in unintended vehicle speeds, increasing the risk of a crash.
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will install new replacement mats, free of charge. The recall began in July 2014. Owners may contact Ford's customer service at 1-800-392-3673. Ford's number for this recall is 14S07. NOTE: Vehicles built after October 31, 2010, while potentially equipped with the same floor mats, are equipped with a Brake Over Accelerator (BOA) feature that prevents simultaneous accelerator and brake application, allowing the vehicle to be safely stopped by pressing firmly and steadily on the brake pedal.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED AND THE POWER STEERING SERVICE AND TRACTION WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT CALLED SHERIDAN FORD SALES (4001 KIRKWOOD HWY, WILMINGTON, DE 19808 (302) 999-0261) FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED DUE TO THE COST. THE CONTACT HAD TO TURN OFF THE IGNITION, WAIT A FEW MOMENTS, AND RESTART THE VEHICLE IN ORDER FOR THE POWER STEERING TO RETURN TO NORMAL. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO ADD POWER STEERING FLUID, BUT DISCOVERED THAT THE STEERING WAS ELECTRIC. SEVERAL MONTHS LATER, WHILE DRIVING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO BOUNCE. THE CONTACT EXITED THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE WAS TURNED INWARD. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN BACK TO THE CONTACT'S HOME AND, WHILE INSPECTING THE FRONT WHEELS, SHE NOTICED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE TIE ROD WAS FRACTURED. I RECEIVED A POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILURE ON THE DASH READOUT WHILE BACKING UP IN A PARKING STRUCTURE. STEERING LOCKED UP AND COULD NOT TURN STEERING WHEEL OR CHANGE DIRECTIONS. I WAS ABLE TO RESET IT BY TURNING OFF AND ON THE IGNITION. LUCKILY THIS DIDN'T HAPPEN WHILE DRIVING. TWO DAYS LATER I WAS ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE TO FORD SERVICE CENTER. FORD DEALERSHIP LATER DIAGNOSED THIS TO RACK AND PINION NEEDING REPLACEMENT AT $1700 PARTS AND LABOR. THEY CLAIMED THEY COULD GET THE FAULT TO REOCCUR WHILE MONITORING THE COMPUTER PORT. SEEM LIKE A SAFETY ISSUE TO ME. CAR IS A 2010 AND HAS 118K MILES. THE SERVICE MANAGER AND WORKERS WERE VERY CONCERNED THAT WE DROVE THE CAR TOT HE DEALERSHIP. THEY KNOW OF THESE ISSUES AND REFUSE TO ACKNOWLEDGE ANY ASSISTANCE TO THE CONSUMER WITH WARRANTY OR RECALL. I GUESS WE NEED A FEW MORE DEAD HUMANS BEFORE THEY TAKE NOTICE.

"POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT" MY 2010 FORD FUSION CONTINUES TO LOOSE POWER STEERING AT RANDOM TIMES AND WITH NO NOTICE. THIS HAS OCCURRED AFTER STARTING AND PULLING AWAY, AFTER BEING ON THE ROAD AT A STOP LIGHT OR DRIVING. THE BIGGEST FEAR IS WHILE DRIVING ALL OF A SUDDEN NO POWER STEERING AND A "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT" APPEARS IN THE CENTER OF MY INSTRUMENT PANEL WITH ENDLESS RINGING OF A QUICK CHIME. REGARDLESS, OF MY LOCATION ON ANY ROAD I CAN NOT STEER THE CAR. I MUST STOP CAR PLACE IN PARK TURN THE KEY OFF AND AND RESTART THE CAR. THIS MAY NOT HAPPEN AGAIN FOR A DAY, WEEK, YEAR MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO DUPLICATE AT THE DEALERS. NO CODES ARE THROWN BY THE COMPUTER FOR READING. REPEAT VISITS TO THE DEALER HAVE BEEN IN VAIN. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING RANDOMLY FOR FIVE YEARS. ALTHOUGH IT HAS GOTTEN TO BE AT MINIMUM TWO TIMES WEEK. THIS WEEK THREE TIMES IN ONE DAY. THE CAR NOW HAS 52,002 MILES. MAINTENANCE IS ON REGULAR TIME SCHEDULES AND MY ONLY MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION. NOW I AM TOLD THAT A FIX JUST SHORT OF $1700.00 IS NEEDED TO MAKE MY CAR SAFE. THIS MODEL CAR IS WELL DOCUMENTED ITSELF THROUGH THE DEALERSHIP. THE INTERNET IS NOW FULL OF SAME COMPLAINTS. NO ONE SHOULD BE DRIVING THESE CARS. I BOUGHT THE CAR INSPECTED FROM A DEALER AND BY NO FAULT OF MY OWN I AM HELD RANSOMED TO PAY OR PARK THE VEHICLE. FORD SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE TO THE FULLEST AND MAKE RECALLS TO CORRECT THESE ISSUES AND REIMBURSE ANYONE THAT HAS DOCUMENTED REPAIR BILLS FOR SUCH REPAIR. THIS IS A FALSE SENSE OF SAFETY FOR MANY VEHICLES TO INCLUDE 2010-2013 VEHICLES PROVING THAT FORD FAILED TO DISCLOSE THESE PROBLEMS TO THE CONSUMER PUTTING MILLIONS OF OWNERS AND OTHER HIGHWAY USERS AT RISK. NHTSA PLEASE HELP!

STARTING IN 2013 WE HAD VARIOUS SUDDEN POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULTS; OCCURRING AT SPEEDS LESS THAN 40 MPH, ONE FRIGHTENING EPISODE WAS WITH MY 10TH GRADE DAUGHTER WITH HER PERMIT, WHILE SHE WAS HAVING DRIVING LESSON WITH ME, WE MADE IT TO THE SIDE IN TRAFFIC; SHE DID NOT HAVE THE STRENGTH TO TURN THE WHEEL WHEN P/S WAS GONE. AFTER AT LEAST A DOZEN OCCURRENCES (RESTARTING DID RESOLVE THE ISSUES), IN EARLY 2015 I TOOK IT TO THE FORD DEALER FOR SOME ANSWERS, I SEPARATELY HAD THE CODES CHECKED AT AN AUTOZONE TYPE PLACE,THE ONLY CODE THAT CAME UP WAS AN EVAPORATIVE PURGE VALVE CODE; NOTHING ABOUT THE P/S FAULT.I DID NOT TELL FORD ABOUT THE CODES. FORD CALLED TO TELL ME I NEEDED TO HAVE THE COMPUTER REPLACED FOR $1500. BUT THEY COULD NOT ID A MECHANICAL P/S FAULT, NOR PURGE VALVE CODE.ASKED WHAT WAS WRONG WITH COMPUTER.NO FAILURE MODE WAS GIVEN.PAY $1500 FOR A REPAIR THAT YOU CANNOT IDENTIFY? THEY"RESET" THE COMP. THE PROBLEM NOT REPEATED UNTIL JUST 7/17/17 BUT RESTART NOW DOES NOT CLEAR IT OR LIFTING BATT LEADS.MY HUSBAND ABLE TO DRIVE IT HOME BUT WITH DIFFICULTY. THIS EVENT THE CAR WAS LESS THAN 25 MPH, MADE RIGHT TURN FROM STOP,THEN LOST P/S. OIL CHANGE WARNING LIGHT IS ON TOO. NEEDS OIL & INSPECTION BUT IN DRIVEWAY,MAY NOT PASS INSPECTION. FORD CLAIMS IN THE 2010 HANDBOOK THE CAR IS STILL DRIVABLE WHEN P/S IS LOST! DID FORD GET THAT CLEARED WITH STATE INSPECTORS WHEN THEY KNEW THEY HAD THIS PROBLEM. I AM IN MY MID-FIFTIES AND ACTIVE BUT HAVE A MUSCLE WEAKENING CONDITION. I DON'T KNOW IF I WOULD HAVE THE STRENGTH EITHER TO GET THIS CAR TO THE SIDE FOR SAFETY. IT BOGGLES MY MIND THAT THE 2010 MY HAS NOT BEEN PLACED ON RECALL BUT 2012 THROUGH 2014(?) HAVE. PLEASE TAKE EVERY ACTION TO PLACE THIS ITEM ON A RECALL PATH. THANK YOU.

AT THAT POINT STEERING BECAME VERY HARD, THEN ANOTHER INDICATOR APPEARED STATING "SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW". NOT KNOWING THAT THIS VEHICLE DOES NOT HAVE A RESERVOIR FOR POWER STEERING FLUID, I DROVE TO THE NEAREST AUTO STORE TO PURCHASE POWER STEERING FLUID. AFTER RETURNING TO MY VEHICLE & LOOKING AT THE MANUAL I THEN FOUND OUT MY VEHICLE DOES NOT TAKE FLUID FOR POWER STEERING. I HAVE A 2010 FORD FUSION WITH LESS THAN 80K MILES ON IT. THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT ON THIS VEHICLE WHILE MY WIFE WAS DRIVING WITH OUR 3 YEAR OLD IN THE BACKSEAT. SHE WAS BARELY ABLE TO GET IT OFF THE ROAD, AS WELL AS RETURN THE VEHICLE HOME. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS! THE ONLY WARNING LIGHT THAT TURNED ON WAS THE SERVICE POWER STEERING MESSAGE AND THE SERVICE ADVANCETRAK MESSAGE. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO MY MECHANIC THEY WERE ABLE TO SEE TROUBLE CODES, AND CLEARED THEM. THE DROVE THE VEHICLE ABOUT 15 MILES AND WERE NOT ABLE TO REPLICATE THE PROBLEM. WE PICKED UP THE VEHICLE 7/11/17 AND DROVE 15 MILES HOME AND LEFT FOR THE NIGHT. 7/12/15 THE MORNING OF, MY WIFE PROCEEDED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE 3 MILES AND SURE ENOUGH SAME PROBLEM HAPPENED TO HER WHILE DRIVING. FOR THE LIFE OF ME I CANNOT UNDERSTAND THIS ISSUE. WHY IS THERE A RECALL FOR THE 2011 VEHICLES BUT NOT FOR 2010, WHICH FROM MY UNDERSTANDING IS WHAT SPARKED THE ENTIRE RECALL PERIOD. FORD NEEDS TO REMEDY THIS ISSUE, OR PROVIDE A FIX FOR THE VEHICLE.

I WAS PULLING OUT MY DRIVEWAY AND COULDN'T STEER MY CAR. I PUT IT IN PARK, TURNED THE IGNITION OFF AND RESTARTED THE CAR. THIS TIME, NO ISSUES. WEEKS LATER, I'M DRIVING DOWN THE STREET AND GET A WARNING FOLLOWED BY LOSS OF POWER STEERING WHEN EXITING AND MAKING A TURN. CONTACTED A FORD DEALER, GAVE MY VIN#, ONLY TO FIND OUT THERE IS NO RECALL ON THIS, THAT IT HAS BEEN "RESET", AND THAT TO HAVE IT FIXED, I WILL HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET. WHY HASN'T FORD RECALLED THIS ISSUE? IT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS TO LOOSE POWER STEERING WHILE DRIVING!!

I CRANKED UP MY CAR IN MY DRIVEWAY AND THE POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT LIGHT CAME ON. I HAD NO POWER STEERING. I RESET IT BY TURNING THE ENGINE OFF AND THEN BACK ON. I DID THIS SINCE FEBRUARY BUT NOW TURNING THE ENGINE OFF AND ON NO LONGER RESETS IT. APPARENTLY, THERE IS NO RECALL FOR THIS AND I WAS QUOTED A PRICE OF $1599 TO INSTALL A NEW RACK. .
