Fuel system, gasoline, storage, auxillary tankNov 24, 2015
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2010-2011 Ford Fusion vehicles manufactured July 21, 2008, to March 4, 2011, and 2010-2011 Mercury Milan vehicles manufactured July 23, 2008, to December 10, 2010. The affected vehicles have fuel vapor canisters whose purge valves may not operate properly resulting in abnormal pressure changes in the fuel tank.
The pressure changes may cause the tank to crack and leak fuel. A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source increases the risk of a fire.
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will update the vehicle powertrain control modules and inspect the vehicle for any diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) for this issue and perform a leak test on the Canister Purge Valve (CPV). The fuel tank will be inspected for cracks. The CPV and fuel tank will be replaced as necessary. These repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began on January 15, 2016. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 15S34.

EquipmentMay 29, 2014
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain all weather driver side accessory floor mats sold for use in model year 2006-2011 Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan, 2006 Lincoln Zephyr, and 2007-2011 Lincoln MKZ vehicles manufactured November 9, 2007, through October 31, 2010. The affected floor mats may move and possibly interfere with the accelerator pedal.
The floor mat could shift such that it could interfere with the accelerator pedal, preventing its return to an idle position, which could result in unintended vehicle speeds, increasing the risk of a crash.
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will install new replacement mats, free of charge. The recall began in July 2014. Owners may contact Ford's customer service at 1-800-392-3673. Ford's number for this recall is 14S07. Wheels, lugs/nuts/bolts/studsDec 7, 2011
FORD IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2010-2011 FORD FUSION AND MERCURY MILAN VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH 17 INCH STEEL WHEELS AND BUILT FROM APRIL 1, 2009, THROUGH APRIL 30, 2009, AND FROM DECEMBER 1, 2009, THROUGH NOVEMBER 13, 2010. THE WHEEL STUDS MAY FRACTURE, POTENTIALLY CAUSING A WHEEL TO SEPARATE.
WHILE DRIVING, MULTIPLE STUD FRACTURES COULD OCCUR AT THE WHEEL LOCATION, AND THE OPERATOR MAY EXPERIENCE VEHICLE VIBRATION AND/OR WHEEL SEPARATION, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
FORD WILL NOTIFY OWNERS, AND DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE REAR BRAKE DISC SURFACE FOR FLATNESS AND REPLACE THE DISCS AS NECESSARY. ADDITIONALLY, THE WHEEL LUG NUTS WILL BE REPLACED ON ALL FOUR WHEELS. THE SAFETY RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN ON OR ABOUT JANUARY 24, 2012. OWNERS MAY CONTACT THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIP CENTER AT 1-866-436-7332.

WENT TO TOWN AND PARKED THE CAR WENT IN TO THE STORE AND WHEN I STARTED TO LEAVE I NOTICED THAT THE POWER STEERING DIDN'T WORK. I DROVE THE CAR HOME WITH NO POWER STEERING. IT'S A GOOD THING THIS DIDN'T HAPPEN WHILE GOING THE SPEED LIMIT. THE DEALER SAID THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM MY QUESTION IS WHY HAS IT NOT BEEN RECALLED IF IT'S A COMMON PROBLEM.

A WRENCH LITE UP ON MY CAR AD MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WHILE DRIVING AND YOUR SLOWS DOWN WHILE DRIVING AND YOU CAN NOT GET YOUR CAR TO GO. I HAD TO STOP AND RESTART MY CAR 4 TIMES WITHIN 40 MILES. THIS NEEDS TO BE A SAFETY RECALL. I HAD KIDS IN MY CAR AND I LIVE 40 MILES OUT OF TOWN. I GOT REALLY SCARED AND DID NOT KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON. I AM NOT PAYING A MECHANIC TO FIX THIS WHEN FORD KNOWS IT IS A PROBLEM. FORD NEEDS TO PAY TO HAVE THIS FIXED. IF THIS DOES NOT GET FIXED FREE OF CHARGE I WILL NEVER BUY A FORD AGAIN. *TR

POWER STEERING HAS GONE OUT SEVERAL TIMES SINCE I FIRST BOUGHT THIS CAR. EACH TIME I HAVE TAKEN IT INTO THE DEALER IN THE PAST THEY HAVE TOLD ME THEY WEREN'T WILLING TO LOOK AT IT WITHOUT A FAULT CODE ON THE DASH. TODAY (04/17/2015) I FINALLY MANAGED TO GET THEM TO LOOK AT THE CODE AND THEY ARE UNWILLING TO FIX THE PROBLEM UNDER WARRANTY DESPITE IT HAVING BEEN AN ONGOING ISSUE. I HAVE EXPERIENCED MULTIPLE INSTANCES OF LOSING POWER STEERING BOTH WHILE STATIONARY AND DRIVING. THE CAR GENERATES A "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT" AND "SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW" ERROR MESSAGE. OFTEN AFTER TURNING OFF THE CAR AND RESTARTING (SOMETIMES TAKING SEVERAL TIMES), THE FAULT WILL CLEAR AND THE CAR OPERATES AGAIN NORMALLY; HOWEVER, THIS HAS RECURRED AT LEAST 3-4 TIMES IN THE FOUR YEARS I HAVE OWNED THE CAR. THIS ALSO OCCURS WHILE DRIVING, WHICH WOULD PRESENT A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY HAZARD FOR SOMEONE UNLIKE MYSELF WHO DOES NOT HAVE PRIOR EXPERIENCE WITH MANUAL STEERING VEHICLES THAT CAN ADJUST ON THE FLY. WHEN TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS/ASSISTANCE SEVERAL TIMES, I AM TOLD THEY CANNOT DIAGNOSE IT UNLESS IT IS ACTIVELY SHOWING THE ERROR CODE (WHICH IS NOT FEASIBLE AS THE CODES CLEAR AFTER THE CAR IS TURNED OFF, AND TYPICALLY WOULD REQUIRE EITHER A TOW TO A DEALERSHIP OR THE ABILITY TO DRIVE STRAIGHT TO A FORD FACILITY AT THE PRECISE TIME THE INCIDENT OCCURS, WITHOUT TURNING THE CAR OFF AT ANY POINT) AND THUS IT DOES NOT GET ADDRESSED OR FIXED. I HAVE READ SEVERAL OTHER REVIEWS OF OTHERS HAVING THE SAME ISSUE WITH THIS SAME MAKE AND MODEL, AND MANY HAVE RESULTED IN HIGHLY COSTLY RECOMMENDATIONS FOR REPAIR WHICH DO NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. I SEE THAT NHTSA CURRENTLY HAS AN INVESTIGATION ONGOING REGARDING THIS SAME ISSUE, AND AS SUCH WANTED TO ENSURE I DID MY PART BY FORMALLY DOCUMENTING ANOTHER INSTANCE OF THIS PROBLEM, AS I FELT FORD'S REPORT THAT IT IS AN ISOLATED INCIDENT ONLY AFFECTING 3 IN 1000 CARS SEEMS HIGHLY QUESTIONABLE GIVEN THE EXTENT OF OTHERS REPORTING THE SAME FAILURES IN A LIMITED NUMBER OF THESE CARS OF THE SAME MODEL YEAR SOLD, AND THOSE BEING LIMITED ONLY TO THOSE (UNLIKE MYSELF, UP UNTIL THIS JUNCTURE) WHO ELECTED TO TAKE THE TIME TO ENTER AN INTERNET COMPLAINT. *TR

TWICE NOW MY VEHICLE HAS LOST POWER STEERING WHILE DRIVING. THE LIGHTS SUDDENLY COME ON SAYING "SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW" "SERVICE ADVANCETRAC". THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED THEY WERE ABLE TO RESET THE COMPUTER STATING IT WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE ELECTRONIC COMPUTER. NOW IT HAS HAPPENED AGAIN AND IT IS COMPLETELY UNSAFE. THIS IS NOT THE ONLY ELECTRICAL ISSUE I HAVE HAD WITH THIS CAR. ABOUT A YEAR AGO THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY SENSOR WENT ON IT. THIS WAS AN INTENSE SAFETY PROBLEM THAT WAS THANKFULLY RECALLED. FORD REALLY NEEDS TO REALIZE THE IMPLICATIONS OF ELECTRONIC ISSUES IN THIS VEHICLE. *TR

THE POWER STEERING IS NOT WORKING.THE VEHICLE IS HARD TO MAKE TURNS. I ONLY HAD THIS CAR ALMOST 3 YEARS AND I PURCHASED IT USED. THE POWER STEERING IS GONE AND I HAVE SEEN A LOT OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS MODEL WITH POWER STEERING PROBLEMS. I KNOW THERE SHOULD BE SOME KIND OF RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE. I CAN NOT AFFORD TO HAVE THIS FIXED. I AM HOPING THAT YOU ALL WILL CHECK INTO THIS. IT IS UNSAFE. I AM CONSIDERING THE NEWS ABOUT THIS BECAUSE I KEEP GETTING THE RUN AROUND. I LOVE MY CAR AND I JUST CAN'T AFFORD TO HAVE IT FIXED BECAUSE OF THIS MECHANICAL PROBLEM.

POWER STEERING FAILED NUMEROUS TIMES, THE LATEST OF WHICH WAS TODAY. USUALLY IT HAPPENS WHEN JUST DEPARTING THE DRIVEWAY, BUT IT ONCE HAPPENED WHILE MOVING ON A STREET - IT'S SCARY. I UNDERSTAND THE POWER STEERING IS ELECTRICAL. I HAD TO REPLACE THE BATTERY A COUPLE MONTHS AGO AND I THOUGHT THAT MIGHT HAVE TAKEN CARE OF THE PROBLEM, BUT IT HAS RECURRED WITHIN THE LAST COUPLE OF WEEKS. I BOUGHT THE CAR USED AND PURCHASED THE EXTENDED WARRANTY WHICH IS STILL IN EFFECT, BUT THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO REPLICATE THE PROBLEM SO NO CURE WAS ABLE TO BE UNDERTAKEN. THE DEALER SAID IF WE WANTED TO, THEY COULD REPLACE THE STEERING MECHANISM FOR ABOUT $2,000 WHICH WE DECLINED. *TR

POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT. OVER THE LAST 3 MONTHS, HAVE HAD MULTIPLE RANDOM POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULTS. BY SHUTTING DOWN VEHICLE AND RESTARTING, THESE HAVE CLEARED IN THE PAST, BUT ON NOV.2, 2014, UPON START OF VEHICLE, POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT OCCURRED AND WOULD NOT CLEAR. WAS FORCED TO DRIVE CAR HOME WITHOUT POWER STEERING AND ALMOST CRASHED MULTIPLE TIMES. IN ADDITION, THIS FAULT SOMETIMES HAS OCCURRED AT SAME TIME AS ADVANCETRAC WARNING. APPEARS THAT WHATEVER ELECTRICAL DEVICE IS FAILING IS RELATED TO BOTH SYSTEMS. *TR

AFTER TAKING IT IN TO THE SERVICE STATION I WAS TOLD THE MY ELECTRONIC STEERING GEAR HAD MALFUNCTIONED, I BELIEVE THEY REFERRED TO IT AS THE EPAS SYSTEM. IT IS A COMPLETE MALFUNCTION OF THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM AND I AM LUCKY THAT I WAS NOT DRIVING THE VEHICLE WHEN IT WENT OUT. *TR

WHILE DRIVING TO WORK ALL OF A SUDDEN MY ADVANCE TRAC LIGHT WENT ON AND THERE WAS NO STEERING AT ALL. ALL THE LIGHTS WENT DEAD AND I HAD TO STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET. I TRIED TO GET THE CAR TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD BEFORE STOPPING BUT WASN'T ABLE TO MANEUVER IT, IT WAS TOO HARD TO STEER. AFTER STOPPING SHORT I FINALLY WAS ABLE TO FORCE THE STEERING WHEEL TO TURN AND MOVED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I READ THE MANUAL AND IT SAID TURN OFF THE CAR AND RESTART, I DID AND NOTHING HAPPENED. I CALLED AAA AND THEY TOWED ME TO FORD IN TOMS RIVER, NJ. IT COST ME $2,152.14 FOR THE STEERING RACK TO BE REPLACED AS WELL AS HAVING MY CAR FOR 6 DAYS AND HAVING TO RENT A CAR FOR ADDITIONAL COSTS. *TR
