Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2007-2011 Ranger, 2006-2012 Fusion, Lincoln Zephyr, Lincoln MKZ, 2006-2011 Mercury Milan, 2007-2010 Ford Edge, and Lincoln MKX vehicles. The driver's side air bag inflator may explode due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to high absolute humidity, high temperatures, and high temperature cycling.
An inflator explosion may result in sharp metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants, resulting in serious injury or death.
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the driver-side airbag inflator or module with an alternate one, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on April 9, 2021 for the passenger side, and November 14, 2022 for the driver side. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2005-2014 Mustang, 2004-2011 Ranger, 2009-2011 Mercury Milan, 2006 Ford GT, 2008-2012 Fusion, 2007-2010 Edge and Lincoln MKX, and 2009-2010 Lincoln MKZ vehicles. These vehicles may be equipped with a driver or passenger frontal air bag inflator used as a replacement service part, that may explode due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to high absolute humidity, temperature and temperature cycling.
In the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the frontal air bag, an inflator explosion may result in sharp metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants resulting in serious injury or death.
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the driver and passenger air bag module, and replace either the module or the inflator, if necessary, free of charge. The parts include certain driver-side air bag inflators and/or modules, designed to fit 2005-2014 Ford Mustang and Mustang GT500. It also includes certain passenger-side air bag inflators and/or modules designed to fit 2005-2014 Ford Mustang, 2010-2012 Lincoln MKZ, 2010-2012 Ford Fusion, 2010-2011 Mercury Milan, 2007-2011 Ford Ranger, and 2007-2010 Lincoln MKX vehicles. Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2010-2011 Ford Fusion vehicles manufactured July 21, 2008, to March 4, 2011, and 2010-2011 Mercury Milan vehicles manufactured July 23, 2008, to December 10, 2010. The affected vehicles have fuel vapor canisters whose purge valves may not operate properly resulting in abnormal pressure changes in the fuel tank.
The pressure changes may cause the tank to crack and leak fuel. A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source increases the risk of a fire.
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will update the vehicle powertrain control modules and inspect the vehicle for any diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) for this issue and perform a leak test on the Canister Purge Valve (CPV). The fuel tank will be inspected for cracks. The CPV and fuel tank will be replaced as necessary. These repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began on January 15, 2016. Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2011-2012 Ford Fusion vehicles without a 3.5L engine and Lincoln MKZ hybrid electric vehicles, 2011 Mercury Milan vehicles, 2011-2012 Ford Taurus, Ford Flex, Lincoln MKS, and Lincoln MKT vehicles equipped with a 3.5L GTDI engine and 2013 Ford Taurus, Ford Flex, Lincoln MKS, and Lincoln MKT vehicles equipped with any available engine. The affected vehicles have electric power steering assist systems that may shut down as a result of a steering motor sensor fault.
If the vehicle experiences a loss of power steering assist, extra steering effort will be required at lower speeds, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash.
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will check the Power Steering Control Module (PSCM) for Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC). If dealers find any loss of steering assist DTCs, the steering gear will be replaced, free of charge. If, no codes are found during the PSCM inspection, the PSCM software will be updated, free of charge. The recall began on July 21, 2015. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain all weather driver side accessory floor mats sold for use in model year 2006-2011 Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan, 2006 Lincoln Zephyr, and 2007-2011 Lincoln MKZ vehicles manufactured November 9, 2007, through October 31, 2010. The affected floor mats may move and possibly interfere with the accelerator pedal.
The floor mat could shift such that it could interfere with the accelerator pedal, preventing its return to an idle position, which could result in unintended vehicle speeds, increasing the risk of a crash.
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will install new replacement mats, free of charge. The recall began in July 2014. Owners may contact Ford's customer service at 1-800-392-3673. NOTE: Vehicles built after October 31, 2010, while potentially equipped with the same floor mats, are equipped with a Brake Over Accelerator (BOA) feature that prevents simultaneous accelerator and brake application, allowing the vehicle to be safely stopped by pressing firmly and steadily on the brake pedal.

MY POWER STEERING ADVANCETRAC WENT OUT WHILE DRIVING, MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKED ON HIGHWAY, IN RESULT I BROKE MY FRONT BUMPER AND ALMOST ENDED UP IN A ACCIDENT DUE TO A LOCKED STEERING WHEEL. I TURNED IN TO FORD FOR POWER STEERING RECALL AND THEY WANTED TO CHARGE ME. I NEVER HAD A THING LIKE THIS BEFORE HAPPEN. I ALSO HAVE FUEL INLET ON FUEL TANK AND I TOOK IN FOR RECALL AND ALL THE FORD DEALER DID WAS SET MY CAR OUT IN THEIR PARKING LOT AND DID NOTHING TO FIX IT., EVEN THOUGH IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY. SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW LIGHT CAME ON AND BECAME DIFFICULT TO STEER. AFTER PARKING THE STEERING FROZE UP COMPLETELY AND THE WHEEL COULD NO LONGER BE TURNED IN ANY DIRECTION. I HAD TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. THERE WAS A RECALL ON OVER 400,000 OF THESE VEHICLES FOR THIS SAME EXACT PROBLEM BUT THE DEALER IS TELLING ME THAT MY VIN IS NOT COVERED. PLEASE EXTEND THE RECALL TO ALL OF THE 2011 FUSIONS.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD FUSION. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER AND THE SERVICE POWER STEERING AND ADVANCETRAC WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT COASTED THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT DIAGNOSED THAT THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING RACK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V340000 (STEERING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.

AFTER RESTARTING THE CAR THE STEERING WHEEL WORKED AND THE MESSAGE ON THE SCREEN DISAPPEARED. BOTH TIMES THE CAR WAS PARKED IN PARKING LOT.

I ALSO NOTICED THAT THE STEERING WAS NO LONGER "POWER STEERING". I SLOWED DOWN AND PUT MY FLASHERS ON AND SLOWLY DROVE HOME. WHILE AT HOME, I RESEARCHED AND FOUND THAT FORD HAD A RECALL BACK IN 2015 (15S18) FOR THIS SAME YEAR CAR FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. FOR SOME REASON, MY VIN WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL EVEN THOUGH MY CAR WAS MANUFACTURED AT THE SAME FACILITY AND WITHIN 30 DAYS PRIOR TO THE BEGINNING RECALL DATE.

BUT THEN ONCE I TURN CAR OFF AND BACK ON IT WILL APPEAR AGAIN. IT HAS BEEN GOING ON AND OFF LIKE THIS FOR A FEW MONTHS. IT ONLY HAPPENED EVERY SO OFTEN BUT NOW RECENTLY ITS HAPPENING EVERY DAY.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD FUSION. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE POWER STEERING SEIZED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER STEERING ABILITY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO FRAMINGHAM FORD IN FRAMINGHAM, MASSACHUSETTS WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING ASSIST MODULE WAS FAULTY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OVER THE 2,000 MILE EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THE AFFECTED PART. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 150,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

TAKATA RECALL & STEERING FAILURE I HAVE A 2011 FORD FUSION ON WHICH THE STEERING SUDDENLY FAILED, WITHOUT ANY WARNING, WHILE DRIVING. THANKFULLY THE FAILURE OCCURRED CLOSE TO OUR HOME AND MY WIFE WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT HOME WITHOUT INCIDENT. I'VE BEEN DOING RESEARCH ONLINE AND LEARNED THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM. WHILE FORD HAS ISSUED A RECALL FOR SOME LATER MODELS, THEY ARE NOT COVERING ALL VIECHLES WITH THE SAME PART. I AM CONTACTING YOU TO RAISE AWARENESS THAT THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS AND IS STILL IMPACTING PEOPLE. I HAVE OWNED MANY CARS THAT ARE MUCH OLDER AND HAVE NEVER HAD A COMPLETE STEERING LOSS. POWER STEERING RECALL: POWER STEERING FAILED TO WORK WHILE DRIVING AND THE POWER STEERING LIGHT CAME ON. TOOK THE VEHICLE INTO A FORD SHOP AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE ELECTRONIC STEERING RACK WAS FAULTY. THIS IS THE SAME ISSUE THAT FORD RECALLED OTHER 2011 FORD FUSIONS FOR BUT FOR SOME REASON THIS VIN IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD FUSION. WHILE IDLING, THE POWER STEERING WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. PREVIOUSLY, THE VEHICLE WOULD BE OPERABLE AFTER IT WAS MANUALLY RESTARTED. DURING THE MOST RECENT FAILURE, THE STEERING DID NOT HAVE FULL FUNCTIONALITY AFTER BEING RESTARTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO KARL FLAMMER FORD (41975 US-19, TARPON SPRINGS, FL) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING WAS DEFECTIVE AND THE STEERING GEAR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V340000 (STEERING). THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT RECALLS WERE VIN-SPECIFIC AND NHTSA WOULD NEED TO BE CONTACTED TO ADD VINS TO A RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 74,000.
