Recalls and investigations
Power train, manual transmissionJun 9, 2026
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2015-2018 Focus and 2013-2016 Fusion vehicles previously repaired incorrectly under recall numbers 18V169 and 18V845. The clutch may fracture, resulting in damage to the transmission assembly and possibly a transmission fluid leak.
A transmission fluid leak in the presence of an ignition source such as hot engine or exhaust components can increase the risk of a fire.
Dealers will update the software, free of charge. Additionally, dealers will inspect Focus vehicles and replace the clutch assembly as necessary, free of charge. Interim letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed August 5, 2026. Additional letters will be sent once the remedy is available. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 26S43. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will become searchable on NHTSA.gov on July 6,2026.

Service brakes, hydraulic, foundation components, hoses, lines/piping, and fittingsMar 10, 2023
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2013-2018 Fusion and Lincoln MKZ vehicles. The front brake hoses may rupture and leak brake fluid.
A brake fluid leak will increase brake pedal travel and extend the distance needed to stop the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
Dealers will replace the front brake hoses, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 27, 2023. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 23S12.

Power train, automatic transmission, gear position indication (prndl)Jun 10, 2022
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2013-2019 Escape, 2013-2018 C-Max, 2013-2016 Fusion, 2013-2021 Transit Connect, and 2015-2018 Edge vehicles. The bushing that attaches the shifter cable to the transmission may degrade or detach.
A damaged or missing bushing may prevent the vehicle from shifting into the intended gear, and cause the vehicle to move in an unexpected direction. Additionally, the vehicle may roll after the driver selects the 'Park' position. Either scenario increases the risk of a crash or injury.
Dealers will replace the under hood shift bushing and add a protective cap over the shift cable bushing, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters, informing owners of the safety risk, were mailed July 1, 2022. Remedy parts are expected to be available in 4th Quarter 2022. Owner notification letters were mailed October 27, 2022. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 22S43.

Service brakes, hydraulic, pedals and linkagesJan 13, 2022
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2014-2015 Fusion, Lincoln MKZ, and 2015 Mustang vehicles originally sold or ever registered, in Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia and Hawaii. Exposure to certain environmental conditions, such as high temperatures, high humidity, and salt air can cause the brake pedal bumper to corrode and separate from the brake pedal.
A separated brake pedal bumper can cause the brake lights to illuminate continuously, causing confusion to other drivers and increasing the risk of a crash. On automatic transmission vehicles, a missing brake pedal bumper can allow the driver to shift the vehicle out of the "PARK" position without depressing the brake, allowing the vehicle to rollaway, increasing the risk of injury.
Dealers will replace the brake pedal bumpers and clutch pedal bumpers, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters notifying owners of the safety risk were mailed on March 4, 2022. Owner notification letters were mailed on June 13, 2022. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 22S02.

Latches/locks/linkages, doors, latchMar 23, 2020
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2014-2015 Fiesta, 2014-2016 Fusion and Lincoln MKZ vehicles sold, or ever registered in Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, Nevada, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, Washington, Puerto Rico, American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands (Saipan), and the U.S. Virgin Islands. A component within the door latches may break making the doors difficult to latch and/or leading the driver or a passenger to believe a door is securely closed when, in fact, it is not.
A door that is not securely latched could open while the vehicle is in motion, increasing the risk of injury to a vehicle occupant.
Ford will notify owners, and Ford or Lincoln dealers will replace the side door latches, free of charge. The recall began September 21, 2020. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 20S15.

Steering, electric power assist systemAug 29, 2019
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2013-2016 Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ, 2015-2016 Ford Edge, and 2016 Lincoln MKX vehicles originally sold, or currently registered in Connecticut, Delaware, the District of Columbia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, West Virginia, and Wisconsin. Road salt or other contaminants may corrode the electric power steering gear motor attachment bolts.
If the bolts corrode, the steering gear motor may detach from the gear housing resulting in a loss of power steering assist, requiring a greater steering effort, especially at lower speeds, and increasing the risk of a crash.
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the steering gear motor bolts and apply a wax sealer. If any of the steering gear motor attachment bolts are broken or missing, a new steering gear will be installed in the vehicle. These repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began October 18, 2019. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 19S26.

Seat belts, frontAug 12, 2019
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2015 Fusion and Lincoln MKZ vehicles. In the event of a crash, heat from the deployment of a seat belt pretensioner may cause a front seat belt anchor cable to fail.
A failed seat belt anchor cable cannot properly restrain the front seat occupants, increasing their risk of injury.
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will apply a protective coating to the seat belt cable, free of charge. The recall began September 9, 2019. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 19S25. Note: This recall is an expansion of a recall 16V-875.

Power train, automatic transmission, lever and linkage, floor shiftMay 13, 2019
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2013-2016 Fusion vehicles equipped with 2.5 liter engines. The bushing that attaches the transmission shifter cable to the transmission may degrade over time and cause the bushing to detach from the transmission. The condition could allow the driver to move the shift lever to Park and remove the ignition key, while the transmission may not be in Park, with no warning message or audible chime.
If the vehicle is exited without the transmission being in Park and without the parking brake being applied, the vehicle may unexpectedly move, increasing the risk of a crash.
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the shifter cable bushing, free of charge. The recall began September 10, 2019. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 19S16. Note: Owners are directed to use the parking brake until the recall remedy repairs can be made. This recall is an expansion of 18V471.

Steering, steering wheel/handle barMar 12, 2018
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2014-2018 Lincoln MKZ and Ford Fusion vehicles. The steering wheel retaining bolt may loosen allowing the steering wheel to detach while driving.
A steering wheel detachment can cause a loss of steering control, increasing the risk of a crash.
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the steering wheel bolt with a longer bolt, free of charge. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 18S08.

Steering, electric power assist systemApr 28, 2015
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2013-2015 Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ vehicles manufactured February 3, 2012, to March 20, 2015, and 2015 Ford Edge vehicles manufactured February 26, 2015, to February 28, 2015, and originally sold, or currently registered in, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, West Virginia, Wisconsin and the District of Columbia. In the affected vehicles, snow or water containing road salt or other contaminants may corrode the electric power steering gear motor attachment bolts.
If the bolts corrode, the steering gear motor may detach from the gear housing resulting in a loss of power steering assist. Loss of power steering assist would require a higher steering effort, especially at lower speeds, which may increase the risk of a crash.
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will apply sealer and replace the steering gear motor bolts as required. If one or more of the steering gear motor attachment bolts are broken or missing, a new steering gear will be installed in the vehicle. These repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began on June 24, 2015. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 15S14.

Power train, automatic transmission, control module (tcm/pcm/tecm)Nov 18, 2014
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 Ford Fusion vehicles manufactured July 27, 2013, to October 31, 2014, 2015 Ford Fusion Hybrid vehicles manufactured February 24, 2014, to October 31, 2014, and 2015 Ford Fusion Energi vehicles manufactured July 14, 2014, to October 31, 2014. In the affected vehicles, the key may be able to be removed even while the transmission is not in Park. Thus, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 114, "Theft Protection and Rollaway Prevention."
If the key can be removed despite that the transmission is not in Park, a driver may think the vehicle is safety parked, when it is not, increasing the risk of a vehicle rollaway that could cause the vehicle to strike and injure the driver, other vehicle occupants, or bystanders.
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will repair the vehicles, free of charge. The recall began on December 15, 2014. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 14C11.

I HAVE RECEIVED A SAFETY RECALL NOTICE 'SAFETY RECALL NOTICE 18S20/ NHTSA RECALL 18V471. ON AUG 15, 2018 MY CAR'S SHIFTER BECAME STUCK ON THE PARK POSITION HOWEVER THE NOTIFICATION ON THE DASH BOARD STATED 'TRANSMISSION NOT ON PARK.' I HAD MY CAR TOWED TO THE DAVID W. WILSON'S VILLAFORD ON AUG 16, 2018 AT 9:56AM. THE DEARLER STATED THAT THEY WOULD HAVE MY CAR DIAGNOSED AND IF IT WAS THE RECALLED PART THEN THEY WOULD LET ME KNOW WHAT OPTIONS I HAD. THE DEALER STILL DID NOT HAVE A DIAGNOSIS FOR ME AS OF 10:09AM ON AUG 17,2018 WHICH IS WHEN I DECIDED TO CALL CUSTOMER RELATIONS AT FORD MICHIGAN'S HEADQUARTERS. I HAD A CASE MADE WITH THE FORD HEADQUARTERS WHICH RESULTED IN THE DEALERSHIP NOTIFYING ME THAT I COULD HAVE A RENTAL FROM THEM WHILE THEY CONTACTED THE FORD HEADQUARTERS ABOUT HOW TO MOVE FORWARD. THE DEALERSHIP THEN STATED THAT THIS WAS AN ADVANCED RECALL WHICH FORD HEADQUARTERS IS NOT YET COVERING AND BECAUSE THEY ARE CONTRACTED THEY WOULD NOT PAY OUT OF POCKET TO PROVIDE ME WITH ANY ASSISTANCE TO HELP THE SITUATION. ONCE I ASKED WHY THIS RECALL ISN'T BEING COVERED THEY CHANGED THEIR STORY SAYING IT WASN'T INTACT THE RECALLED PART BUT A CABLE. I CALLED FORD HEADQUARTERS AGAIN AND THEY AND ASKED THE FORD DEALERSHIP TO CHECK IF THEY HAD ANY RESOURCES TO HELP ME SINCE THE NEW PART WAS NOTE YET AVAILABLE. THE DEALERSHIP STATED THAT FORD WAS NOT GOING TO COVER ANYTHING FOR THIS RECALL YET AND BECAUSE OF THIS I WOULD NEED TO PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR A RENTAL OR TO HAVE MY CAR REPAIRED EVEN THOUGH PER FORD HEADQUARTERS, THERE IS STILL NO REPLACEMENT FOR THE RECALLED PART YET. FORD HEADQUARTERS STATED THIS WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE RECALLED PART BUT THEY ARE NOT YET COVERING THE RECALL SO THE ONLY OPTION FOR ME WOULDN'T BE TO PAY FOR A RENTAL CAR OUT OF POCKET AND ONCE THE PART ARRIVED I COULD GET MY CAR FIXED (HOWEVER ANY FEES FOR THE RENTAL WOULD NOT BE COVERED).

RECALL NUMBER:18S20 NHTSA RECALL NUMBER:18V471 ON JULY 20,2018 APPROXIMATELY 3:45AM I PULLED IN A PARKING LOT I PUT MY CAR IN PARK AND WENT TO GET OUT OF MY VEHICLE AND MY VEHICLE BEGAN TO ROLL BACKWARDS ALMOST RUNNING OVER MY FOOT AS I WAS EXITING MY VEHICLE , I IMMEDIATELY JUMPED BACK INSIDE TERRIFIED AND HELD MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE WHILE HAVING AN PANIC ATTACK. I SAT FOR HOURS HOLDING MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE BECAUSE I COULDN'T BREATHE AND COULDN'T THINK WHEN I FINALLY COULD CATCH MY BREATH AFTER SEVERAL PHONE CALL ATTEMPTS I FINALLY GOT A RELATIVE ON THE PHONE AND ASKED WHAT TO DO, THEY SUGGESTED PUTTING MY EMERGENCY BRAKE ON UNTIL I COULD CONTACT MY DEALERSHIP WHICH DIDN'T OPEN UNTIL 9:30AM. AFTER TESTING I RECEIVED A PHONE CALL SAYING THE BUSHINGS THAT ATTACH THE SHIFTER CABLE TO THE TRANSMISSION HAD DETACHED FROM THE TRANSMISSION CAUSING MY VEHICLE TO BE IN PARK BUT STUCK IN REVERSE CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO ROLL BACKWARDS WITHOUT ME KNOWING BECAUSE I THINK IT'S IN PARK AND THERE'S NO SIGN OF ME KNOWING IT'S STUCK IN REVERSE EXCEPT WHEN IT STARTED TO ROLL AWAY AND ALMOST OVER ME AS I WAS GETTING OUT. THIS HAS BEEN SUCH AN BIG INCONVENIENCE FOR ME THIS HAS CAUSED ME TO MISS WORK FROM 7/20/2018-7/24/2018 BECAUSE I HAD NO TRANSPORTATION TO WORK (MY COMMUTE TO WORK IS 1.5 HOURS), MY SON WAS NOT ABLE TO GO TO CHILDCARE,ECT. AND FORD HAS OFFERED ME NO HELP BECAUSE THEY SAY THE REPLACEMENT BUSHINGS AREN'T EVEN IN PRODUCTION YET. FORD IS TELLING ME THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO BECAUSE THE RECALL IS NOT ACTIVE YET SO NOW I HAVE TO LOSE MY JOB, ONLY INCOME, MY BILLS HAVE BECOME DELINQUENT DUE TO ME NOT HAVING TRANSPORTATION TO AND FROM WORK THIS IS NOT RIGHT AND FORD SHOULD NOT TREAT CUSTOMERS THIS WAY AND SHOULD ACCOMMODATE ME UNTIL THEY FIGURE OUT A SOLUTION THIS RECALL SHOULD HAVE BEEN HANDLED IN A MORE TIMELY MANNER IM PAYING MONEY FOR A CAR AND I HAVE NO TRANSPORTATION.

MY 2015 FORD FUSION HAS DIFFICULTY CHANGING GEARS WHILE DRIVING, SPECIFICALLY SHIFTING FROM FIRST TO SECOND, THEN SECOND TO THIRD. ALSO, ROUGH SHIFTING FROM PARK TO REVERSE WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE. THE LATEST INCIDENT WAS WHEN I MOVED THE GEAR SHIFT FROM PARK TO REVERSE AND THE CAR DID NOT SHIFT INTO GEAR. I PUT IT BACK INTO PARK, THEN INTO REVERSE AGAIN AND IT SHIFTED. I DRIVE IT HOME, VERY SLOWLY, AND HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP THE NEXT MORNING. FORD CORPORATE IS INVOLVED, AFTER FOUR MONTHS OF ME ASKING FOR A NEW TRANSMISSION, AND THEY HAVE NOT INFORMED ME OF A CONCLUSIVE DECISION ON WHAT THEY ARE GOING TO DO. I AM AFRAID FOR MY LIFE TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE, AND HAVE TOLD THE DEALERSHIP AND FORD CORPORATE SO MULTIPLE TIMES. THE CAR ISN'T GENERATING ANY CODES, AND THEY HAVE, SO FAR, REFUSED TO PUT A NEW TRANSMISSION AND ASSOCIATED PARTS IN THE VEHICLE. I DO NOT QUALIFY FOR THE LEMON LAWS IN MY STATE BECAUSE I AM THE SECOND OWNER OF THE VEHICLE. HOWEVER, I PURCHASED IT AS A CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED VEHICLE FROM WHAT I THOUGHT WAS A REPUTABLE DEALER. IN DEALING WITH THIS DEALERSHIP, I HAVE COME TO REALIZE THAT THE DEALER IS WORTHLESS AND SHADY. I'M WORKING WITH ANOTHER DEALER NOW, AND THEY SEEM TO BE A BIT BETTER. FORD CORPORATE IS REFUSING TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE ISSUES WITH THIS DEATHTRAP THEY SOLD ME, AND I'M STRUGGLING TO GET OUT OF THE CAR EVEN THOUGH IT'S BEEN IN THE SHOP FIVE TIMES NOW FOR THE SAME ISSUE. MY CAR IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. THEY HAVE REPLACED SEVERAL ITEMS, BUT THE CAR DRIVES MORE ROUGHLY AFTER EVERY "REPAIR" ATTEMPT. I WANT OUT OF THIS DEATHTRAP, AND I WANT FORD TO GIVE ME ALL OF MY MONEY BACK THAT I PAID FOR IT. WORD TO THE WISE, DON'T EVER BUY A FORD.

DRIVER(WWII VET) HAD TO PUSH CONNECT PHONE ON THREE DIFFERENT LOCATIONS WHILE DRIVING AT INTERSTATE SPEED..PUTTING 3 LIVES IN JEPORDY..PLEASE DISMANTLE THIS FEATURE LIKE THE ADDRESS YOU CAN ENTER WHEN SEARCHING FOR A LOCATION TILL THE CAR STOPS--COMPLETELY UNSAFE AND REDICULOUS..ALSO THE CAR MAKERS HAVENT GOT IT RIGHT YET AFTER 100 YRS. ON DETERMINING THE CORRECT LOCATION OF CONTROLS--CONSISTANCY DOES PAY OFF, IT SURE DOES WHEN IT COMES TO SELLING VEHICLES BY THEM NOT BEING CONSISTANT AND YOU CRASH AND HAVE TO KEEP THEM IN BUSINESS BUYING THEIR PARTS AND REPAIR FROM THEIR COMPANY..SIGNED-PASSENGER-BACKSEAT, HAVENT DROVE SINCE 2012--AND AUTO MAKERS DON'T DESERVE IT.

I AM FILING THIS COMPLAINT DUE THE NUMBER OF DOCUMENTED OCCURRENCES OF SUN ROOFS CRACKING OR EXPLODING ON FORD FUSION AND OTHER FORD BRANDED VEHICLES. ON 9/1/2017 WHILE OPENING THE SUN ROOF HEARD POP SOUND. THE SUN ROOF OPENED ABOUT 5 INCHES. I RETURNED IT TO THE CLOSED POSITION AND FOUND THE SUN ROOF CRACKED IN A RECTANGULAR PATTERN ACROSS THE ENTIRE GLASS. THE CAR HAD BEEN PARKED FROM 9:00 AM PST UNTIL 5:00 PM PST AT MY WORK SITE WITH ALL 4 WINDOWS CRACKED ABOUT 1/2 TO 1 INCH. AS WELL I NOTICED THAT ON THE BACKSEAT DRIVER SIDE THE HEAD LINER HAD DETACHED FROM ROOF AND BELOW WEATHER STRIPPING. ATTEMPTED TO PUSH IT BACK UP BUT IT WILL NOT STAY AFTER THE SUNROOF CRACKED. ENTERING THE CAR I ROLLED ALL WINDOWS DOWN, TURNED ON AC WHICH WAS SET AT 64 DEGREES AND THEN ATTEMPTED TO OPEN THE SUN ROOF BEFORE DRIVING OFF. ALL WINDOWS AND OPEN SUN ROOF WAS TO HELP EVACUATE WARM AIR THAT REMAINED IN THE CAR AS IT WAS PARKED DURING THE DAY. CURRENTLY THE CAR HAS 9961 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. CARE IS DRIVEN ABOUT 6 MILES MONDAY - FRIDAY FROM MY HOME TO WORK AND BACK.

WHILE DRIVING, MY VEHICLE OVERHEATED. CHECKED COOLANT LEVEL, AND IT WAS LESS THAN HALF FULL. I REFILLED COOLANT TO RECOMMENDED LEVEL, AND PROCEEDED TO DRIVE. TWO WEEKS LATER, IT OVERHEATED AGAIN, AND MY COOLANT WAS LOW AGAIN. REFILLED AND MONITORED FOR LEAKS. NO LEAKS. THEN VEHICLE BEGAN MISFIRING. DIAGNOSED WITH CYLINDER 3 MISFIRE. REPLACED SPARK PLUGS AND COIL PACKS. STILL MISFIRING. REDIAGNOSED WITH CYLINDER 3 MISFIRE. THEN IT JUST DIED. WOULD NOT START. ACTED AS THOUGH IT WAS FLOODING. DIAGNOSED WITH NO ADDITIONAL ISSUES BY DEALERSHIP. THEN DISCOVERED TSB FOR A BOLT THAT WAS BACKING OUT OF THE INTERCOOLER AND INTO THE MANIFOLD. THIS ISSUE WAS ALLOWING COOLANT TO FLOOD THE MANIFOLD AND CAUSE MISFIRING. GOT THAT FIXED AS WELL AS THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND TURBO UNIT FOR THE CAR WHICH WERE DAMAGED AS A RESULT OF THE COOLANT ISSUE. $5,000 IN REPAIRS FOR A MANUFACTURING DEFECT THAT COULD HAVE LEFT MY FAMILY AND I STRANDED IN THE DESERT HEAT WITHOUT A/C OR IN THE SUB-ZERO SNOWY MOUNTAINS WITHOUT HEAT SINCE THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT EVEN START. AS A FAMILY, WE TRAVEL EXTENSIVELY. THIS IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY ISSUE!!!!!

TAKATA RECALL: ON MY WAY HOME I WOULD BE SITTING AT THE LIGHT. AND THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CAR WOULDN'T MOVE. IT HAD JUST SHUT OFF ON ME. THEN AFTER A WHILE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WOULD COME ON, BUT THEN IT WOULD GOT OUT. THEN A WEEK OR TWO LATER THE CAR STARTED TO MAKE A NOISE AND THEN IT WOULD SHUT OFF, WITH OUT ME PHYSICALLY DOING SO. I WOULD HAVE TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK, TURN THE CAR OFF, WAIT A FEW MINUTES AND THEN START IT UP AGAIN. AND THE CAR WOULD RUN AS IF NOTHING HAD HAPPENED. THIS WOULD HAPPEN MORE OFTEN WHEN I'M IN RUSH HOUR ( STOP AND GO TRAFFIC). THEN I FIGURED MAYBE IF I TOOK THE HWY HOME IT WOULDN'T DO THAT. NO SUCH LUCK. AS I WAS JUST ABOUT TO GET OFF AT THE EXIT I NEEDED IT MADE THAT SAME NOISE AGAIN. I HAD JUST GOT OFF THE HWY ONTO A BUSY STREET (DURING RUSH HOUR). I WAS IN THE RIGHT TURNING LANE AND COULDN'T GO ANYWHERE FOR A FEW SECONDS. SO UNTIL I WAS ABLE TO GET IT FIXED I WOULD HAVE TO TAKE THE SIDE STREETS JUST IN CASE IT HAPPENED AGAIN. AT LEAST ON A SIDE STREET I'LL HAVE TIME TO PULL OVER OUT OF THE WAY OF TRAFFIC TO LET THE CAR SIT FOR A SECOND TO READJUST ITSELF. THIS WOULD HAPPEN EVERY SO OFTEN, UNTIL WE HAD A CHANCE TO GET IT FIXED.

I HAVE THE STEERING ISSUES FROM DEFECTIVE EPS PROGRAMMING THAT CAUSES PULLING TO EITHER SIDE. THE WIPERS DON'T WORK PROPERLY. THE SEATS ARE HARD AND POSITIONED WRONG. THE VEHICLE IS TOO LOW. THE REAR MAKES A HELICOPTER NOISE IF I OPEN THE WINDOW WHILE DRIVING. THE TRANS VIBRATES THE CAR IN ECO BUT ALSO SHIFTS VERY HARD IN SPORT. THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING MORE THAN ONCE. OWN A 2005 TAURUS THAT MADE ME A REPEAT BUYER BUT THIS WILL BE MY LAST FORD AND TOYOTA, HYUNDAI AS WELL AS SOME OTHER CAR COMPANIES ARE JUST TOO PROBLEMATIC TO EVER PURCHASE AGAIN DUE TO ALL THE NEW TRANS AND STEERING PROBLEMS COMBINED WITH THE POOR CRAFTSMANSHIP MAKE OLDER VEHICLE LOOK SO GOOD NOW.

I BOUGHT MY CAR IN OCTOBER OF 2015 (IT WAS PRE-OWNED) AFTER A COUPLE OF MONTHS I STARTED NOTICING THAT THE CAR UNEXPECTEDLY TURNS OFF WITH A MESSAGE SAYING, "TRANSMISSION NOT IN PARK" ON THE DASHBOARD SO I IMMEDIATELY TURN OFF THE CAR AND START IT BACK UP AND EVERYTHING WORKS FINE FOR A MONTH THAN THIS HAPPENS AGAIN. I CALL FORD CUSTOMER CARE MULTIPLE TIMES AND THEY TELL ME TO TAKE THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND HAVE THEM DO A DIAGNOSIS OF THE CAR, THEY DO, AND SAY "WE CAN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG", IN THE FOLLOWING MONTH THE CAR SHUTS OFF WITH THE SAME MESSAGE POPPING UP ON THE DASHBOARD. I DO THE SAME PROCESS AND BEFORE. I EVEN CALL CUSTOMER CARE AGAIN AND THEY TELL ME THE SAME THING, SO I TAKE IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY ALSO TELL ME THE SAME EXACT THING. THE THIRD TIME IT DOES IT AGAIN I CALL CUSTOMER CARE AND THEY STILL TELL ME THE SAME THING, BUT THIS TIME I REFUSED TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. NOW, I DRIVE FOR UBER AND I HAD A PASSENGER WITH ME AT THE TIME THAT HAPPENED. I WAS UNABLE TO STOP THE CAR BECAUSE THE BREAKS SEEMED TO BE LOCKED. AT THIS POINT I WAS DRIVING NOW A HILL.

ALERT TONES EMITTED BY THE REVERSE SENSING SYSTEM AND CROSS-TRAFFIC ALERT SYSTEM ARE SO LOW THEY ARE NEARLY INAUDIBLE WITH THE RADIO OFF AND THEY ARE INAUDIBLE WITH THE RADIO ON.

THERE IS A DEFECT IN THE WIPER AND/OR WINDSHIELD DESIGN - IT IS EXTREMELY HARD TO SEE WHEN IT IS RAINING, EVEN JUST MODERATELY RAINING, AND EVEN WITH THE WIPER SPEED ON HIGH. I CAN'T TELL IF THE WIPERS ARE TOO SLOW, IF THE ANGLE OF THE WINDSHIELD PROMOTES WATER RETENTION, OR IF THE PROBLEM IS WITH THE WIPER MECHANISM DESIGN (INSTEAD OF GOING THE SAME DIRECTION, THE WIPERS START IN THE MIDDLE AND GO SEPARATE DIRECTIONS TO THE OUTSIDE EDGE). FURTHERMORE, EVERY TIME THE WIPERS MAKE A PASS THERE APPEARS TO BE A FILM ON THE GLASS THAT TAKES A FEW SECONDS TO CLEAR ' IT LOOKS SPLOTCHY, AND ISN'T AFFECTED BY TEMP/DEFROST AT ALL. AT NIGHT WHEN PASSING ANOTHER CAR OR UNDER STREET LIGHTS THIS MAKES A TERRIBLE GLARE, AND OF COURSE THE FASTER YOUR WIPERS ARE GOING, THE MORE "FILM" THERE WILL BE BECAUSE THERE'S NO TIME FOR IT TO CLEAR BETWEEN PASSES. I BOUGHT THIS CAR WITH 16 MILES ON IT AND NOTICED IT THE VERY FIRST TIME I HAD TO DRIVE IN THE RAIN (I'M NOW AT 7500 MILES). BETWEEN THE INADEQUATE PREVENTION OF WATER ACCUMULATION AND THE STRANGE FILM, THIS CAR IS VERY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE IN THE RAIN, ESPECIALLY AT NIGHT. BEYOND THIS, I HAVE NOTICED FOR QUITE A WHILE THAT THE EXHAUST/MUFFLER MAKES A LOUD VIBRATION NOISE, AND AT TIMES THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTS VERY HARD WHEN APPLYING BRAKES (DOWNSHIFT) OR WHEN FIRST ACCELERATING.

THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED I WAS SITTING AT A RED LIGHT AND THEN WHEN I WENT TO ENGAGE (PUT FOOT ON GAS PEDAL) TO MOVE FORWARD THE CAR, THE CAR JUST STOOD STILL. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND STARTED THE PROCESS AGAIN AND THEN MOVED FORWARD. THE NEXT DAY, I WAS DRIVING IN TRAFFIC, FROM 15 MPH TO 0 MPH, STOP AND GO TRAFFIC. (STORY OF MY LIFE) FROM BEING IN THE BREAK POSITION TO ENGAGING(PUT FOOT ON GAS PEDAL) TO GO THE VEHICLE WOULDN'T MOVE FORWARD. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND BACK INTO DRIVE AND IT STILL WOULDN'T ENGAGE, THEN THE EMERGENCY BRAKE INDICATOR CAME ON AND ALSO COLLISION LIGHT CAME ON. I TRIED THE GAS AGAIN TO MOVE FORWARD AND THE CAR STUTTERED. I PUT THE CAR BACK INTO PARK AND SHUT DOWN THE CAR, I DID THIS 3 TIMES UNTIL ALL THE WARNING LIGHTS WENT OFF. MY GOAL WAS TO GET MY CAR OUT OF THE MIDDLE LANE IN HORRIFIC TRAFFIC. THE CAR FINALLY MOVED FORWARD, IT THEN HAPPENED AGAIN 5 MINUTES LATER, WHEN I WAS TURNING ONTO A STREET. I SHUT THE CAR OFF, THIS TIME IT WAS 2 X. THIS HAPPENED ON SATURDAY AND ON MONDAY MORNING I CALLED FORD TO BRING IN MY VEHICLE. THAT SAME DAY FORD SERVICE SAID THEY CAN NOT FIND A PROBLEM, I TOLD THEM TO KEEP IT THERE AND GAVE PERMISSION FOR THEM TO DRIVE IT MORE TO SEE IF IT HAPPENS. AT THIS TIME I AM IN FEAR OF DRIVING THAT VEHICLE, I DRIVE A LOT OF MILES IN ALL SITUATIONS, AND I DO NOT TRUST THE CAR AT THIS TIME. I AM STILL WAITING TO HEAR BACK FROM SERVICE.....
