Power train, manual transmissionJun 9, 2026
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2015-2018 Focus and 2013-2016 Fusion vehicles previously repaired incorrectly under recall numbers 18V169 and 18V845. The clutch may fracture, resulting in damage to the transmission assembly and possibly a transmission fluid leak.
A transmission fluid leak in the presence of an ignition source such as hot engine or exhaust components can increase the risk of a fire.
Dealers will update the software, free of charge. Additionally, dealers will inspect Focus vehicles and replace the clutch assembly as necessary, free of charge. Interim letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed August 5, 2026. Additional letters will be sent once the remedy is available. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 26S43. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will become searchable on NHTSA.gov on July 6,2026.

Service brakes, hydraulic, foundation components, hoses, lines/piping, and fittingsMar 10, 2023
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2013-2018 Fusion and Lincoln MKZ vehicles. The front brake hoses may rupture and leak brake fluid.
A brake fluid leak will increase brake pedal travel and extend the distance needed to stop the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
Dealers will replace the front brake hoses, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 27, 2023. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 23S12.

Power train, automatic transmission, gear position indication (prndl)Jun 10, 2022
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2013-2019 Escape, 2013-2018 C-Max, 2013-2016 Fusion, 2013-2021 Transit Connect, and 2015-2018 Edge vehicles. The bushing that attaches the shifter cable to the transmission may degrade or detach.
A damaged or missing bushing may prevent the vehicle from shifting into the intended gear, and cause the vehicle to move in an unexpected direction. Additionally, the vehicle may roll after the driver selects the 'Park' position. Either scenario increases the risk of a crash or injury.
Dealers will replace the under hood shift bushing and add a protective cap over the shift cable bushing, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters, informing owners of the safety risk, were mailed July 1, 2022. Remedy parts are expected to be available in 4th Quarter 2022. Owner notification letters were mailed October 27, 2022. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 22S43.

Service brakes, hydraulic, pedals and linkagesJan 13, 2022
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2014-2015 Fusion, Lincoln MKZ, and 2015 Mustang vehicles originally sold or ever registered, in Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia and Hawaii. Exposure to certain environmental conditions, such as high temperatures, high humidity, and salt air can cause the brake pedal bumper to corrode and separate from the brake pedal.
A separated brake pedal bumper can cause the brake lights to illuminate continuously, causing confusion to other drivers and increasing the risk of a crash. On automatic transmission vehicles, a missing brake pedal bumper can allow the driver to shift the vehicle out of the "PARK" position without depressing the brake, allowing the vehicle to rollaway, increasing the risk of injury.
Dealers will replace the brake pedal bumpers and clutch pedal bumpers, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters notifying owners of the safety risk were mailed on March 4, 2022. Owner notification letters were mailed on June 13, 2022. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 22S02.

Latches/locks/linkages, doors, latchMar 23, 2020
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2014-2015 Fiesta, 2014-2016 Fusion and Lincoln MKZ vehicles sold, or ever registered in Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, Nevada, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, Washington, Puerto Rico, American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands (Saipan), and the U.S. Virgin Islands. A component within the door latches may break making the doors difficult to latch and/or leading the driver or a passenger to believe a door is securely closed when, in fact, it is not.
A door that is not securely latched could open while the vehicle is in motion, increasing the risk of injury to a vehicle occupant.
Ford will notify owners, and Ford or Lincoln dealers will replace the side door latches, free of charge. The recall began September 21, 2020. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 20S15.

Steering, electric power assist systemAug 29, 2019
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2013-2016 Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ, 2015-2016 Ford Edge, and 2016 Lincoln MKX vehicles originally sold, or currently registered in Connecticut, Delaware, the District of Columbia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, West Virginia, and Wisconsin. Road salt or other contaminants may corrode the electric power steering gear motor attachment bolts.
If the bolts corrode, the steering gear motor may detach from the gear housing resulting in a loss of power steering assist, requiring a greater steering effort, especially at lower speeds, and increasing the risk of a crash.
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the steering gear motor bolts and apply a wax sealer. If any of the steering gear motor attachment bolts are broken or missing, a new steering gear will be installed in the vehicle. These repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began October 18, 2019. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 19S26.

Seat belts, frontAug 12, 2019
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2015 Fusion and Lincoln MKZ vehicles. In the event of a crash, heat from the deployment of a seat belt pretensioner may cause a front seat belt anchor cable to fail.
A failed seat belt anchor cable cannot properly restrain the front seat occupants, increasing their risk of injury.
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will apply a protective coating to the seat belt cable, free of charge. The recall began September 9, 2019. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 19S25. Note: This recall is an expansion of a recall 16V-875.

Power train, automatic transmission, lever and linkage, floor shiftMay 13, 2019
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2013-2016 Fusion vehicles equipped with 2.5 liter engines. The bushing that attaches the transmission shifter cable to the transmission may degrade over time and cause the bushing to detach from the transmission. The condition could allow the driver to move the shift lever to Park and remove the ignition key, while the transmission may not be in Park, with no warning message or audible chime.
If the vehicle is exited without the transmission being in Park and without the parking brake being applied, the vehicle may unexpectedly move, increasing the risk of a crash.
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the shifter cable bushing, free of charge. The recall began September 10, 2019. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 19S16. Note: Owners are directed to use the parking brake until the recall remedy repairs can be made. This recall is an expansion of 18V471.

Steering, steering wheel/handle barMar 12, 2018
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2014-2018 Lincoln MKZ and Ford Fusion vehicles. The steering wheel retaining bolt may loosen allowing the steering wheel to detach while driving.
A steering wheel detachment can cause a loss of steering control, increasing the risk of a crash.
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the steering wheel bolt with a longer bolt, free of charge. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 18S08.

Steering, electric power assist systemApr 28, 2015
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2013-2015 Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ vehicles manufactured February 3, 2012, to March 20, 2015, and 2015 Ford Edge vehicles manufactured February 26, 2015, to February 28, 2015, and originally sold, or currently registered in, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, West Virginia, Wisconsin and the District of Columbia. In the affected vehicles, snow or water containing road salt or other contaminants may corrode the electric power steering gear motor attachment bolts.
If the bolts corrode, the steering gear motor may detach from the gear housing resulting in a loss of power steering assist. Loss of power steering assist would require a higher steering effort, especially at lower speeds, which may increase the risk of a crash.
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will apply sealer and replace the steering gear motor bolts as required. If one or more of the steering gear motor attachment bolts are broken or missing, a new steering gear will be installed in the vehicle. These repairs will be performed free of charge. Power train, automatic transmission, control module (tcm/pcm/tecm)Nov 18, 2014
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 Ford Fusion vehicles manufactured July 27, 2013, to October 31, 2014, 2015 Ford Fusion Hybrid vehicles manufactured February 24, 2014, to October 31, 2014, and 2015 Ford Fusion Energi vehicles manufactured July 14, 2014, to October 31, 2014. In the affected vehicles, the key may be able to be removed even while the transmission is not in Park. Thus, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 114, "Theft Protection and Rollaway Prevention."
If the key can be removed despite that the transmission is not in Park, a driver may think the vehicle is safety parked, when it is not, increasing the risk of a vehicle rollaway that could cause the vehicle to strike and injure the driver, other vehicle occupants, or bystanders.
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will repair the vehicles, free of charge. The recall began on December 15, 2014. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 14C11.

SEVERAL TIMES NOW. WHILE DRIVING THE CAR (AC NORMALLY ON), WE WILL GET TO A FULL STOP FROM DRIVING (OVER ~40 MIN TRIPS)... WHETHER IN TRAFFIC ON A FREEWAY OR STOP SIGN... THE CARS CHECK BRAKE SYSTEM LIGHT WILL FLASH & BEEP, AND THE CAR WILL NOT ACCELERATE. NEITHER THE ELECTRIC MOTOR NOR THE GAS/HYBRID ENGINE WILL ENGAGE AND DRIVE. TURNING OFF AND ON THE CAR DOES NOT RESET IT... IT TAKES REPEAT EFFORT AND SEVERAL MINUTES (ONCE OVER 10 MINUTES) TO BE ABLE TO START UP. CAN'T IMAGINE IF IT WERE TO HAPPEN ON A FREEWAY AGAIN WITH A CHILD OR MY OTHER HALF IN THE CAR! SCARY! TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES WITHOUT ANY LUCK DIAGNOSING OR FIXING THE ISSUE... WE NEED A RELIABLE VEHICLE THIS IS INSANE. NOW THE CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND DOING IT AGAIN. FORD NOR ANY DEALER SHOP CAN HELP FIX THIS. THEY CAN'T REPRODUCE IT, THE ISSUE IS SPORADIC WHICH MAKES IT WORSE & MORE TERRIFYING TO EXPERIENCE. SO FAR 4 OCCURRENCES WITHIN THE LAST 4 MONTHS. ABOUT 10 + OVER THE 3 YEARS SINCE WE PURCHASED THE CAR NEW. THE LIGHTS ALWAYS RESET BY THE TIME WE MAKE IT TO A DEALER LOT. THEIR SYSTEMS CANNOT TROUBLE SHOOT ANYTHING AT THAT POINT! IT HAPPENED AGAIN RECENTLY WHEN PARKED FOR OVER AN HOUR, AFTER A 80 MILE DRIVE. WHEN WE WENT TO DRIVE HOME, IT WOULD NOT DRIVE/ACCELERATE. SAME BRAKE SYSTEM LIGHT ISSUE WAS POPPING UP AGAIN. ALMOST HAD TO GET A TOW, THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN IT STARTED BACK UP AGAIN AS THE DRIVER GOT TO US.

POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT AND TRACTION CONTROL ON. AND TOLD O SERVICE IMMEDIATELY.I TRIED BACKING OUT OF MY GARAGE BUT STEERING WHEEL WAS COMPLETELY LOCKED UP AND UNABLE TO STEER. HAD THE CAR TOWED TO DEALERSHIP AFTER 5 DAYS WAS CALLED BACK AND WAS TOLD THE HE POWER STEERING RACK WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED AND THE BATTERY WAS BAD TOO. FOR A TOTAL COST OF $2600. FROM OTHER REPORTS ONLINE HIS HAPPENS FREQUENTLY WITH FUSIONS. THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE STEERING RACK BY MY MODEL WAS NOT INCLUDED. ONLY 42,000 MILES ON CAR WITH REGULAR DRIVING AND PARKED IN GARAGE WHEN NOT IN USE. VEHICLE SHOULD NOT HAVE FAILED THIS QUICKLY. IF I WAS DRIVING WHEN THIS HAPPENED I WOULD HAVE HAD NOT CONTROL AND MOST LIKELY WOULD HAVE CRASHED.

I WAS DRIVING MY CAR AT THE DAY TIME AND I WANTED TO AVOID A DEER CROSSING THE ROAD, THE CAR STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP AND COULD NOT TURNED THE WHEEL. CONSEQUENTLY, THE CAR HITS A TREE AND GOT TOTALLY DAMAGE. WHEN THE CAR HITS THE TREE, THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED BUT DID NOT STAY INFLATED, BUT INSTEAD DEPLOYED DEFLATED.I WAS SERIOUSLY INJURIED AND GOT TRANSPORTED TO THE TRAUMA CENTER IN ATLANTA FOR EXAMINATION. THE REASON I AM REPORTING THIS COMPLAIN IS THAT MY CAR FORD FUSION 2015 IS ON RECALL BY FORD COMPANY. ON MAY 22/2018, I TOOK THE CAR TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP LOCATED IN THE CITY I LIVE TO FIXED THE PROBLEM. THE SAME DAY THE COMPANY CALLED ME THAT THE PROBLEM IS FIXED AND THE CAR NEEDS TO BE PICK UP. WHAT I DID. MY ACCIDENT HAPPENED ON THE THIRD DAY AFTER THE WORK. SO, I DID NOT KNOW IF THE REAL PROBLEM IS FIXED. IF YES, WHY THE STEERING WHEEL IS LOCKED AND I COULDN,T CONTROL THE CAR? BEFORE THE ACCIDENT, I OFTEN AVOID DEERS ON THE RAOD AND NOTHING HAPPENED. WHY THE ACCIDENT HAPPENED AT THIS TIME? AFTER THE ACCIDENT, THE POLICE CAME AND THE RESCUE TEAM CAME TO THE PLACE AND THEY WILL MADE THE REPORTS TO THE INSURANCE COMPANY FOR CLAIMS. BUT I HAVE TO DO THIS TO THE OFFICIAL DEPARTMENT TO INVESTIGATE THE PROBLEM AND TO TAKE THE APPROPRIATE ACTION AGAINST FORD COMPANY. THIS WILL SAVE OTHER CITIZEN LIVE ON THE ROAD. VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION AFTER EXITING THE FREEWAY FROM A 45 MINUTE DRIVE AT 70 MPH. BRAKES NEEDED MORE PRESSURE THAN NORMAL TO SLOW AND STOP THE CAR. ONCE VEHICLE CAME TO A STOP AND WITHOUT APPLYING ANY ADDITIONAL PRESSURE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL THE PEDAL BECAME SPONGEY AND MOVED COMPLETELY TO THE FLOOR. I SHIFTED THE VEHICLE TO PARK AND TRIED THE BRAKES AGAIN, THIS TIME IT FELT OK. I CONTINUED DRIVING AND THE PEDAL CONTINUED TO DO THIS OVER AND OVER AGAIN. I PULLED INTO A AUTO PARTS STORE AND CHECKED THE BRAKE FLUID, THE RESERVOIR WAS NOT SHOWING ANY FLUID. I PROCEEDED INTO THE STORE PURCHASED ADDITIONAL BRAKE FLUID AND TOPPED OFF THE BRAKE FLUID. UPON GETTING BACK IN THE VEHICLE I TRIED THE BRAKES SEVERAL TIMES AND COULD NOT GET A FIRM PEDAL. I GOT BACK OUT OF THE CAR AND INSPECTED EACH OF THE WHEEL AREAS. UPON REACHING THE RIGHT FRONT I FOUND BRAKE FLUID RUNNING OUT FROM UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. AFTER CLOSER INSPECTION THE FLEX LINE TO THE CALIPER HAD FAILED AND WAS SPRAYING BRAKE FLUID WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS PRESSED AND SUCKING AIR INTO THE SYSTEM WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS RELEASED. THIS ENTIRE TIME THE CAR NEVER REPORTED HAVING ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE BRAKES. THERE SHOULD HAVE BEEN A WARNING LIGHT THAT THE BRAKE FLUID WAS LOW. ADDITIONALLY, THIS CAR ONLY HAS 47,000 MILES ON IT, THIS LINE SHOULD NOT HAVE FAILED THIS SOON.

2015 FORD FUSION 'S' (EPAS) DEFECT. 50,200 MILES ON ODOMETER AT TIME OF OCCURRENCE. VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY. FUSION'S 2.5L ENGINE (COLD) WOULD NOT START AFTER BEING AT REST FOR EIGHT HOURS. DISPLAY DEPICTED "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT" AND "SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC". VEHICLE WOULD NOT START, EVEN WITH (PROPER) JUMP. ALL INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR LIGHTING WAS VERY BRIGHT. TOWED TO FORD DEALERSHIP. I WAS TOLD BY SERVICE MANAGER THAT BATTERY WAS "GOING BAD" AND TOLD OF $2086.00 FIX TO THE EPAS (ALONE). I WAS NOT PREVIOUSLY HAVING ANY STEERING ISSUES OR CONCERNS. NOTIFIED FORD INC. AND WAS ISSUED A "CAS" CASE NUMBER AND TOLD TO LOOK FOR AN EMAIL FROM THEM IN TWO DAYS WITH THEIR RESOLUTION DECISION, IF ANY. I AM NOT OPTIMISTIC. VEHICLE WAS PROPERLY MAINTAINED AND ALWAYS GARAGED. SEVERAL OF MY SERVICE VISITS WERE AT MULTIPLE FORD DEALERSHIPS, SO MAYBE THAT WILL HELP MY CASE. A TWO THOUSAND DOLLAR REPAIR, ON A "GARAGE KEPT" THREE YEAR OLD CAR, WITH 50K MILES, ALBEIT OUT OF 3/36 WARRANTY, IS SIMPLY NOT ACCEPTABLE. LUCKILY, NO ONE IN MY FAMILY WAS INJURED/KILLED BY THIS DEFECT. SADLY, FORD'S REFUSAL TO ACKNOWLEDGE THIS PROBLEM WILL OBVIOUSLY COST LIVES DOWN THE ROAD, DUE TO EPAS FAILURE, NOT TO MENTION FUTURE SALES.

THE DEALER CHANGES ALL NEW 28" WIPERS TO 26 WHEN THEY DELIVER A CAR. MINE HAD 26" AND STILL HAS THE PROBLEM.
Other or unspecified, Service brakes, Apr 20, 2018
THE BRAKES OF MY CAR WENT COMPLETELY OUT. EVEN WHILE IN 'PARK,' THE CAR WOULD MOVE. IT WAS TOWED TO LOCAL DEALERSHIP WHERE WE WERE TOLD THE BRAKE BOOSTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. LUCKILY, WHEN THIS HAPPENED, I WAS GOING AT A VERY SLOW RATE OF SPEED ON A CITY STREET AND WAS ABLE TO USE MY EMERGENCY BRAKE TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT.
