    Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2013-2018 Fusion and Lincoln MKZ vehicles. The front brake hoses may rupture and leak brake fluid.

    A brake fluid leak will increase brake pedal travel and extend the distance needed to stop the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

    Dealers will replace the front brake hoses, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 27, 2023. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 23S12.

  2. Steering, steering wheel/handle barMar 12, 2018

    Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2014-2018 Lincoln MKZ and Ford Fusion vehicles. The steering wheel retaining bolt may loosen allowing the steering wheel to detach while driving.

    A steering wheel detachment can cause a loss of steering control, increasing the risk of a crash.

    Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the steering wheel bolt with a longer bolt, free of charge. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 18S08.

  3. Power train, automatic transmission, torque converterJul 6, 2017

    Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2017 Lincoln MKZ and Ford Edge and Fusion vehicles. On vehicles with 2.0L gas engines and six-speed automatic transmissions, the torque converter weld studs may have been inadequately welded.

    If the torque converter weld studs fail, the torque converter will not be connected to the engine flexplate and the vehicle will lose the ability to move, increasing the risk of a crash.

    Ford or Lincoln will notify owners, and dealers will replace the torque converters, free of charge. The recall began August 25, 2017. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 17S16.

    Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2017 Ford Fusion vehicles manufactured September 27, 2016, to September 28, 2016. The left rear seat backs pivot pins may have been improperly welded.

    During a crash, the improper welds may fail, allowing any stowed luggage to move into the passenger compartment, increasing the risk of injury.

    Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the left hand, second row seat back frame, free of charge. The recall began January 10, 2017. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 16S43.

    The contact owns a 2017 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving 15-20 MPH, the vehicle jerked and stalled inadvertently. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact was unable to veer to the side of the road. The contact was able to restart the vehicle however, the failure reoccurred while driving the same day. The contact stated that the failure had been reoccurring increasingly and the vehicle would only start after several attempts. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that there was coolant intrusion into the engine cylinders and the failure was associated with Ford Customer Satisfaction Program Number: 21N12. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 129,000.

    The contact owns a 2017 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while accelerating at 65 MPH, the vehicle began to shake and hesitated with the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle would not accelerate above 60 MPH; the contact was able to drive the vehicle to the residence. The vehicle was then towed from the home to the dealer where a diagnostic test discovered that coolant had leaked into the cylinders. The manufacturer had been notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 75,000.

    The contact owns a 2017 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving approximately 70 MPH, coolant entered the engine and the engine overheated. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle lost motive power and stalled in a construction area. The contact refilled the coolant reservoir and drove to his residence. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 181,000.

    The contact owns a 2017 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving approximately 35 MPH, the high engine coolant temperature warning light was illuminated. The contact drove the vehicle to an independent mechanic and was informed that the head gasket needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was then taken to the dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed of coolant intrusion into the cylinders. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 108,849.

    The contact owns a 2017 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving at undisclosed speeds, he became aware that the check engine warning light was illuminated and there was an engine misfire. The contact took the vehicle to a local dealer to be diagnosed. The mechanic replaced the spark plug; however, the failure recurred. On another occasion, while driving, the vehicle started to overheat. The contact pulled over and added coolant in the reservoir and waited for the engine temperature to cool down before driving to his residence. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and the spark plugs were replaced however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 94,561.

    The contact owns a 2011 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to a parts store for the vehicle to be diagnosed. The contact was informed of a cylinder misfire on cylinder #2. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic to be repaired however, the failure persisted. The contact took the vehicle back to the mechanic who replaced three additional cylinders however, the repairs failed to fix the vehicle. The mechanic diagnosed the failure as a coolant leakage into the cylinder but could not repair the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 129,000.

THE CONTACT WHO WORKS AS AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC STATED THAT THE TURBO CHARGER LEAKED OIL ONTO THE ENGINE. THE CONTACT CALLED FAMILY FORD (170 YORK RD, CARLISLE, PA 17013, (717) 249-2215) HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO BE DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED HOWEVER NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 78,000.

    TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE INCREASED WITH NO WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT TEMPERATURE GAUGE REMAINED HIGH AS SHE FELT HEAT ON HER FEET. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HEATER CORE MALFUNCTIONED AND COOLANT WAS LEAKED INTO THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED SHE PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND AT THAT TIME THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SMOKE ENTERED THE VEHICLE FROM THE AIR VENTS. THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO CROSSROADS FORD OF INDIAN TRAIL (88 DALE JARRETT BLVD, MONROE, NC 28110) WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A HEATING CORE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALER FOR REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE HOWEVER, NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 42,246.
