Recalls and investigations

  1. Air bags, side/window, curtain, inflatorJul 1, 2021

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2015-2016 GMC Sierra 1500, 2500, 3500, and Chevrolet Silverado 1500, 2500, and 3500 trucks. The roof-rail air bag (RRAB) inflator end cap may detach from the inflator, or the inflator sidewall may rupture.

A separated inflator end cap or inflator rupture can allow compressed gas to escape, resulting in the end cap or other components being propelled into the vehicle, increasing the risk of injury or crash.

Dealers will replace the left and right side RRAB modules, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters informing owners of the safety risk were mailed on August 18, 2021. Owners will receive a second notice when the remedy is available. Phase I owner notification letters were mailed on May 5, 2022. Phase II owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on May 31, 2022. Owners may contact GMC customer service at 1-888-988-7267 or Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. This recall supersedes NHTSA recall number 20V-736. GM's number for this recall is N202324251.

  2. Seat belts, frontApr 8, 2021

General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2014-2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, 2015-2016 Chevrolet Tahoe, and 2014-2015 GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles that may have received an incorrect replacement tensioner cable assembly as part of a previous recall remedy or a subsequent repair. The flexible steel cable connecting the driver's seat belt to the outboard side of the seat may be repeatedly bent over the seat side shield as the driver enters and exits the vehicle causing the cable to fatigue and separate.

A broken pretensioner cable reduces the effectiveness of the driver's seat belt, increasing the risk of injury.

GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the driver seat belt lap pretensioner, free of charge. The recall began on May 5, 2021. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, and GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is N212330040.

  3. Air bags, side/window, curtain, inflatorNov 25, 2020

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2015-2016 GMC Sierra 1500 and Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and 2015 GMC Sierra 2500 and 3500, and Chevrolet Silverado 2500 and 3500 trucks. The roof-rail air bag (RRAB) inflator end cap may detach from the inflator.

If the end cap separates from the inflator, the compressed gas will escape and the end cap can be propelled into the vehicle, increasing the risk of injury or a crash.

GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the RRAB modules on the left and/or right side, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters were mailed on December 22, 2020. Owners may contact GMC customer service at 1-888-988-7267 or Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. Note: GM filed a new recall, number 21V-504 that supersedes this recall. All vehicles previously recalled under 20V-736 will now be repaired under the new recall number 21V-504. GM's numbers for this recall are N202309680, N202309681, and N202309682.

  4. Service brakes, hydraulic, antilock/traction control/electronic limited slip, wheel speed sensor/tone ringOct 24, 2019

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2015-2020 Chevrolet Suburban, Tahoe, and GMC Yukon, and 2014-2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles equipped with a 5.3-liter engine, a 3.08-ratio rear axle and four-wheel drive. If a wheel-speed sensor fails, while the vehicle is traveling between 41 and 60 mph in four-wheel or automatic mode, the Electronic-Brake Control Module (EBCM) software may activate the driveline-protection system.

Unintended activation of the driveline-protection system will cause unintended braking on the wheel on the opposite side of the failed sensor, causing the vehicle to pull to one side unexpectedly, increasing the risk of a crash.

GM will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the EBCM, free of charge. The recall began December 11, 2019. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-630-2438 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is N192261050.

  5. Service brakes, hydraulic, power assist, vacuumSep 6, 2019

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2015-2017 Cadillac Escalade, 2014-2018 Chevrolet Silverado, GMC Sierra, 2015-2018 Chevrolet Suburban, Tahoe, GMC Yukon vehicles. The amount of vacuum created by the vacuum pump may decrease over time.

As the vacuum level drops, the brake assist decreases, increasing braking effort, extending the distance required to stop the vehicle, thereby increasing the risk of a crash.

GM will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the Electronic Brake Control Module, free of charge. The recall began October 8, 2019. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-630-2438, Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is N192268490.

  6. Steering, electric power assist systemSep 7, 2018

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, Tahoe and Suburban, GMC Sierra 1500 and Yukon, and Cadillac Escalade vehicles. Electric power steering (EPS) assist may be lost momentarily, followed by a sudden return of EPS assist.

If EPS assist is lost and then suddenly returns, the driver may have difficulty steering the vehicle, especially at low speeds, increasing the risk of a crash.

GM will notify owners, and dealers will update the EPS module software, free of charge. The recall began October 12, 2018. Owners may contact Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006, Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 and GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is 18289.

  7. Air bags, frontalJul 10, 2017

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2014-2016 Buick Lacrosse and Chevrolet Spark EV, Caprice PPV and SS vehicles, 2014-2017 Buick Encore and Chevrolet Corvette, Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles, 2015-2016 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Tahoe, Trax, Suburban and Silverado 2500 and 3500 and GMC Yukon and Yukon XL vehicles, and 2015-2017 GMC Sierra HD 2500 and 3500 vehicles. While being previously remedied for recall 16V-651, the affected vehicles may not have received the complete software update necessary to remedy the recall condition. Without the update, certain driving conditions may cause the air bag sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) software to activate a diagnostic test. During this test, deployment of the frontal air bags and the seat belt pretensioners would not occur in the event of a crash.

A failure of the front air bags or seat belt pretensioners to deploy in the event of a crash necessitating deployment increases the risk of injury to the driver and front passenger.

GM will notify owners, and dealers will reflash the SDM software. Vehicles that have had a previous air bag deployment will have the SDM replaced. These repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began on August 4, 2017. Owners may contact Buick customer service at 1-800-521-7300, Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006, Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is 17287.

  8. Air bags, frontalSep 8, 2016

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2015-2017 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD, 3500 HD, Tahoe, Suburban, GMC Sierra 2500 HD and 3500 HD, GMC Yukon, GMC Yukon XL, Cadillac Escalade and Cadillac Escalade ESV vehicles and 2014-2017 Chevrolet Corvette, Silverado 1500, Trax, Caprice Police Pursuit Vehicle, GMC Sierra 1500, Buick Encore, and 2014-2016 Buick Lacrosse, Chevrolet Spark EV and SS vehicles. In the affected vehicles, certain driving conditions may cause the air bag sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) software to activate a diagnostic test.

The recall began on October 13, 2016. Owners may contact Buick customer service at 1-800-521-7300, Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006, Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is 16007.

  9. Seat beltsApr 12, 2016

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 trucks manufactured January 29, 2013, to January 21, 2015. While entering the vehicle, the seat belt tensioner cable may be positioned such that the driver slides over it. This movement may result in the fatigue and separation of the cable.

If the tensioner cable separates, the driver may not be properly restrained in the event of a crash, increasing their risk of injury.

GM will notify owners, and dealers will modify the vehicles to prevent the tensioner from being damaged. Any tensioner that has already been damaged will be replaced, free of charge. The recall began on August 11, 2016. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is 15822.

  1. Electrical system, Other or unspecified, Mar 20, 2018, fire

VEHICLE HAD A FIRE STARTING IN THE DASHBOARD AREA BEHIND INSTRUMENT CLUSTER I THINK. IT TOOK LESS THAN 15 MINUTES FROM THE SMELL OF AND ISSUE TO FLAMES VISIBLE. I NOTICED THE GAUGES BECOMING ERRATIC THAN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WITH WHAT FELT LIKE THE 4 WHEEL DRIVE KICKING IN AND OUT FOLLOWED BY THE MOTOR RUNNING POORLY. I PULLED OVER, TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AS THE SMOKE STARTED. THAN DIALED 911.. TROOPER WAS THERE IN 6 MINUTES WITH FIRE DEPARTMENT SHORTLY AFTER. I WAS ON A HIGHWAY TRAVELING ABOUT 70 MPH. THERE WERE QUITE A FEW POTHOLES AS THIS WAS WINTER TIME. LIGHTS WERE ON, CRUISE WAS ON, HEATED SEATS AND STEERING WHEEL WERE ON, RADIO WAS ON, PHONE AND LAPTOP WERE CHARGING ( LAPTOP UTILIZING 110 OUTLET IN TRUCK).

  2. Other or unspecified, Mar 16, 2018

AC CONDENSER UNIT STARTS LEAKING AND VEHICLE AC STOPS BLOWING COOL AIR. THIS MAY ONLY SEEM LIKE A INCONVENIENCE, BUT HERE IN THE SOUTH SUMMERS ARE UNBEARABLE WITHOUT AC. OCCUPANTS OF VEHICLES COULD EASILY SUCCUMB TO HEAT EXHAUSTION. IT COULD BE DIFFICULT FOR THE DRIVER TO KEEP SWEAT OUT OF HIS OR HER EYES. THIS INCONVENIENCE COULD LEAD TO DISTRACTED/DISGRUNTLED DRIVING. THERE ARE ACTUALLY A NUMBER OF REASON THAT THIS COULD POSE A SERIOUS SAFETY RISK. GM IS WELL AWARE OF THIS ISSUE AND HAS FAILED TO PROPERLY ADDRESS THE SITUATION. I DIDN'T NOTICE THAT MY AC WASN'T WORKING UNTIL MY VEHICLE HAD 37,000 MILES ON IT. I'M POSITIVE THAT IT TOOK LONGER THAN THE FEW DAYS BETWEEN ME BEING AT 36,000 AND 37,000 MILES FOR THE REFRIGERANT TO COMPLETELY EXIT THE SYSTEM AND THE AIR TO NOT WORK. GM HAS OFFERED A HALF-HEARTED GOODWILL REPAIR THAT IS STILL JUST SHY OF $600. THIS HAS BEEN A KNOWN ISSUE FOR GM FOR YEARS AND IS NOT ONLY NEGLIGENT, SELLING ME THIS VEHICLE IN NOVEMBER OF 2015 ESSENTIALLY CONSTITUTES FRAUD.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 GMC SIERRA 1500. WHILE DRIVING 5 MPH IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC, THE BRAKE PEDAL BECAME HARDER TO DEPRESS TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO GRAFF CHEVROLET BUICK (495 SANILAC RD, SANDUSKY, MI 48471, (810) 648-9850), BUT NO FAILURES WERE LOCATED. IT WAS UNKNOWN IF THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 29,000.

  6. Steering, Power train, Engine, Feb 7, 2018

STEERING ELECTRICAL ASSIST FIGHTBACK, DRIVING,TURNING RESULTING IN NO STEERING-DEADLY! THIS CAN HAPPEN AT ANY TIME WHILE DRIVING. VERY DANGEROUS! ENGINE MUST BE SHUT OFF AND RESTARTED BEFORE YOU CAN GET OUT OF STREET. THEN MESSAGE READS "LOWER DRIVER WINDOW THEN RAISE" BEFORE PROCEEDING.

  7. Service brakes, Feb 4, 2018

HARD BRAKE PEDAL. AT LOW SPEED THE BRAKE PEDAL GETS REALLY HARD AND MAKES IT HARD TO STOP THE TRUCK. PEDAL HAS TO GET PUSHED REALLY HARD TO BARELY STOP FROM HITTING OTHER VEHICLES. ONGOING ISSUE.

  8. Power train, Feb 3, 2018

SAFETY ISSUE: KNOWN ISSUE TO GM BUT COMPANY REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE AS A SAFETY ISSUE. A LARGE NUMBER OF GMC/CHEVROLET PICKUPS HAVE VIBRATION ISSUE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS CAUSING STRESS AND UNNATURAL WEAR ON VEHICLE COMPONENTS WHICH MIGHT FAIL CAUSING A CRASH AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. GM DEALERS UNWILLING TO SOLVE ISSUE ON MAJORITY OF AFFECTED VEHICLES (2014-2015).

  9. Exterior lighting, Feb 1, 2018

UNSAFE HEAD LIGHTS AND THE SUPPOSED UPDATED HEADLIGHT ARE ONLY GOOD FOR 12 MONTHS OR 12,000 MILES.. THE REPLACEMENTS HAVE BOTH BURNED OUT ALREADY AT $50 EACH.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 GMC SIERRA 1500. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE REAR WINDOW EXPLODED AND SHATTERED INTO PIECES. MCNEILL CHEVROLET BUICK IN SWANTON, OHIO WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL ON THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 34,000.

  11. Steering, Jan 29, 2018

ELECTRIC STEERING STARTED LEAKING TOOK IT TO DEALER WASINFORMED UNIT HAS TO BE REPLACED AT A COST 1660. DOLLARS TRUCK HAS 76000 MILES

  12. Exterior lighting, Structure, Jan 26, 2018

HEADLIGHTS ARE INADEQUATE ON HIGH OR LOW BEAMS. IT SEEMS THAT THE LIGHT IS FOCUSED INTO TWO NARROW BEAMS IN AN EFFORT TO MAKE UP FOR THE LOW LUMEN LEVEL OF THE LED BULBS. THESE NARROW BEAMS DON'T LIGHT UP ENOUGH OF WHAT IS IN FRONT OF YOU FOR NIGHT DRIVING. I HAVE TO USE MY FOG LAMPS TO TURN ONTO STREETS WITHOUT STREET LIGHTS ON THE CORNER. THE RECIRCULATING SWITCH FOR THE VENTILATION SYSTEM WILL NOT EVEN REDUCE THE AMOUNT OF OUTSIDE AIR COMING INTO THE CABIN, MUCH LESS OCCLUDE IT. NOT GOOD IN 5 O:CLOCK TRAFFIC OR WHEN YOUR BEHIND A DIESEL BURNER. THE DEALERSHIP ACTS LIKE THEY ARE CLUELESS AND SAY EVERYTHING IS WORKING AS IT SHOULD. AFTER READING THIS FORM WITH SO MANY HEADLIGHT COMPLAINTS, I ASKED IF THEY HAD EVER GOTTEN ANY COMPLAINTS LIKE MINE AND THEY DENIED THAT THEY EVER HAVE; AND THEY DID IT WITH A STRAIGHT FACE!

  13. Service brakes, Jan 22, 2018, crash

I WAS FOLLOWING MY DAUGHTER WHO WAS EXITING THE GAS STATION AND PULLING OUT ONTO ROUTE 149. AS SHE PULLED UP TO ROUTE 149 SHE STOPPED TO CHECK TRAFFIC. I WAS BEHIND HER IN MY 2015 GMC SIERRA 1500, GOING APPROX. 2 MPH. WHEN I HIT THE BRAKES, NOTHING HAPPENED. THE TRUCK KEPT MOVING FORWARD AND I HIT THE REAR OF MY DAUGHTERS CAR, CRACKING THE REAR BUMPER. NO DAMAGE TO THE TRUCK BECAUSE I WAS ONLY GOING A COUPLE MPH, LUCKILY MY DAUGHTER HAD HER FOOT ON THE BREAK OF HER CAR, OTHERWISE I WOULD HAVE PUSHED HER RIGHT INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. THE FACT THAT SHE HAD HER FOOT ON THE BRAKE IS WHAT STOPPED MY TRUCK. WE BOTH BACKED UP AND GOT OUT OF THE INTERSECTION, WHEN BACKING UP THE BRAKES WORKED FINE. THERE WASN'T A SPOT TO LEAVE THE TRUCK SO I HAD TO DRIVE 3 MILES BACK TO MY HOUSE. THE BRAKES WORKED PERFECTLY AFTER, NO ISSUES WHAT SO EVER. IT SEEMED LIKE AT THE SLOW SPEED THAT BRAKES DIDN'T HAVE ANY BOOST (OR PRESSURE), THE PEDAL WAS VERY VERY STIFF, IT FELT LIKE IT WAS PUSHING BACK AGAINST ME WHEN I HIT THE REAR OF MY DAUGHTERS CAR. BUT DRIVING HOME EVERYTHING WORKED PERFECT. I'M BRINGING THE TRUCK IN (APPROX. 72K MILES) TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT BUT I'M CONCERNED THE DEALER WILL NOT KNOW WHAT TO FIX AS THE ISSUE SEEMS TO BE INTERMITTENT. THIS WAS A VERY DANGEROUS INTERSECTION AND I COULD HAVE PUSHED MY DAUGHTER INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC AND THE RESULT WOULD HAVE BEEN MUCH MUCH WORSE. SOMETHING SEEMS TO BE SERIOUSLY WRONG WITH THE BRAKES AND WHEN GOOGLING THIS ISSUE, I FOUND MANY SIMILAR ISSUES/COMPLAINTS REGARDING THE BRAKES.

  14. Exterior lighting, Jan 20, 2018

POOR QUALITY HEADLIGHTS, VERY DIFFICULT TO NOT "OVER DRIVE" THE PROJECTED RANGE OF HEADLIGHTS. IN REALITY, YOU SHOULD PROBABLY NEVER DRIVE OVER 35 MPH AFTER DARK. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO SEE ANYTHING IN THE RAIN.

  15. Exterior lighting, Jan 1, 2018

HEADLIGHTS ARE TERRIBLE AT NIGHT. VERY UNSAFE ON DARK ROADS.

  16. Electrical system, Dec 25, 2017

HEADLIGHT ON THE 2015 GMC SIERRA 1500 SLT ARE TERRIBLE. THEY ARE THE WORST OF ANY VEHICLE I'VE DRIVEN. THE PROBLEM STEMS FROM THE POORLY DESIGNED REFLECTOR FOR THE HALOGEN BULB.

  17. Other or unspecified, Dec 20, 2017

THE AIR CONDITION CONDENSOR IS LEAKING AND THEREFORE CAUSED THE AC NOT WORK. WE HAVE PURCHASED A NEW CONDENSOR TO REPLACE IT AND FIX THE PROBLEM BUT THIS SHOULD BE COVERED BY THE MANUFACTURER.

  18. Steering, Dec 20, 2017

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 GMC SIERRA DENALI. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE STEERING LOST POWER AND THE POWER STEERING WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER (SEWELL BUICK GMC OF DALLAS IN DALLAS, TX, PHONE NUMBER: 214-350-8000) WHERE A DIAGNOSTIC TEST WAS PERFORMED. THE CONTACT WAS NOT GIVEN THE RESULTS OF THE TEST. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND OFFERED TO PAY A PERCENTAGE OF THE REPAIR COSTS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 39,900. *BF UPDATED 8/28/18*JB

  19. Exterior lighting, Dec 18, 2017

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 GMC SIERRA 1500. WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED AT NIGHT, THE CONTACT COULD NOT SEE ABOVE 50 TO 55 FEET AHEAD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (GRAFF CHEVROLET, OKEMOS, MI, 517-349-8300) WHERE THE TECHNICIAN UTILIZED THE TSB INSTRUCTIONS AND ADJUSTED THE HEADLIGHTS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE LIGHTS BECAME BRIGHTER, BUT THE FAILURE WAS NOT COMPLETELY REPAIRED. THE CONTACT DID NOT REMEMBER WHETHER THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 12,000.

  20. Service brakes, Dec 18, 2017

TAKATA RECALL WHEN BACKING UP BRAKE PEDAL IS NOT AT ITS NORMAL PRESSURE SEEMS TO BE ALL THE WAY DOWN SO HAVE TO PRESS BRAKE HARDER TO STOP THE TRUCK WHEN I SHIFT TO DRIVE FORWARD SAME THING APPLIES. AFTER TRUCK HAS BEEN OFF FOR SOME TIME PARKED THEN START TO DRIVE BRAKES SEEM TO BE WORKING FINE.

  21. Service brakes, Dec 12, 2017

BRAKES BECAME HARD TO DEPRESS AND ENGAGE WHILE VEHICLE WAS MOVING. ALMOST CRASHED VEHICLE. AFRAID TO DRIVE. BROUGHT TO DEALER. SAID IT WAS BAD BRAKE BOOSTER. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH, FOUND OUT SHOULD REPLACE VACUME PUMP, MASTER CYLINDER, HOSE LINE, ETC., SO I DID. 44K MILES, 3 YEAR OLD TRUCK, HAPPENED ON /12/10/17 BROUGHT TO DEALER GARBER GMC IN FLORIDA FOR $1300 REPAIR ON 12/11/2017. NO WARNING SIGNS WHEN THIS HAPPENED. VERY DANGEROUS WHEN BRAKES FAIL WHILE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION.

  22. Service brakes, Dec 8, 2017

I WAS PULLING INTO A PARKING SPOT AT WORK (SLOW SPEED) AND I COULD NOT STOP THE TRUCK. I KEPT APPLYING MORE AND MORE PRESSURE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL AND IT DID NOT STOP THE TRUCK. THE TRUCK HIT THE CURB AND STOPPED, LUCKILY THERE WASN'T A ANOTHER CAR AS I WOULD HAVE HIT IT. IT CAUGHT ME A BIT OFF GUARD AS I WAS TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT JUST HAPPENED. I BACKED THE TRUCK UP ABOUT 10 FEET, BRAKES WORKED FINE IN REVERSE, AND PULLED FORWARD BACK INTO THE SPOT. AGAIN, THE BRAKES DID NOT WORK AND I AGAIN I HIT THE CURB. NO DAMAGE TO THE TRUCK, BUT BRAKES DID NOT WORK. IT FELT LIKE THE BRAKES WERE PUSHED BACK AGAINST ME. BRAKE PEDAL NEVER WENT TO THE FLOOR, I PUSHED THE PEDAL AND THERE SEEMED TO BE MORE RESISTANCE THAN NORMAL. IT DIDN'T MATTER HOW MUCH I PUSHED, THE TRUCK KEPT MOVING FORWARD. THIS HAPPENED WITH APPROXIMATELY 78,000 MILES. I WAS LATE FOR A MEETING SO I WENT INTO WORK AND LATER IN THE DAY I HAD A BREAK SO I CHECKED ON THE TRUCK. PULLED OUT OF THE PARKING SPOT AND BACK IN AND BRAKES WORKED BOTH IN REVERSE AND IN FORWARD. SO NOW WHAT TO DO????????? AT WORK I DID A QUICK GOOGLE SEARCH AND SAW THIS SIMILAR ISSUE COME UP IN A LOT OF THE SEARCH RESPONSES- AND DECIDED TO LOG IT HERE. THIS IS A HUGE ISSUE AND VERY DANGEROUS IF I WAS IN A CROWD OR PEOPLE OR AT AN INTERSECTION AND COULDN'T STOP. I CALLED GMC AND THEY SAID THEY NEVER HEARD OF ANYTHING LIKE THIS- THEY DIDN'T SEEM TO CARE, THEY SAID IF I BROUGHT THE TRUCK IN THEY WOULD SEE IF IT HAPPENED AGAIN.

  23. Electrical system, Dec 7, 2017

MY VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH A DRIVER ALERT SYSTEM WHICH NOTIFY THE DRIVER IF THE VEHICLE STRAYS OUT OF ITS LANE OR IF IT APPROACHED STOPPED TRAFFIC. THIS SYSTEM ALERTS THE DRIVER BY EITHER PLAYING AN AUDIBLE TONE OR BY VIBRATING THE SEAT. THE VIBRATION MOTORS IN THE SEAT OF MY VEHICLE HAVE BROKEN THREE TIMES DUE TO A PINCHED WIRE DUE TO GM'S POOR DESIGN. WHEN THE MOTOR BREAKS, A ERROR IS DISPLAYED SAYING TO SERVICE THE DRIVER ALERT SYSTEM. THIS OCCURRED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND WHEN IT WAS MOVING.

  24. Other or unspecified, Nov 30, 2017

AT 50,000 MILES, AND 24 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASING IT NEW, THE AIR CONDITIONING STOPPED WORKING DUE TO A FAULTY CONDENSER. AFTER INVESTIGATING THIS PROBLEM I FOUND OUT THAT THERE IS AN EXTREMELY HIGH FAILURE RATE OF GMC TRUCKS FOR THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM. IT IS A WELL KNOWN DEFECT PER SEVERAL GM DEALERS WHO ARE LEFT TO DEAL WITH THE PROBLEM. A BRACKET TO SECURE THE A/C LINE WAS NEVER INSTALLED WHEN VEHICLE WAS BUILT, CAUSING MOVEMENT IN THE LINE WHICH EVENTUALLY CAN RUIN THE CONDENSER, AC LINE AND COMPRESSOR. I ASKED GM DEALER TO FIX UNDER WARRANTY BUT WAS TOLD THAT THE BEST THAT GM WAS WILLING TO DO WAS TO PAY 40% OF THE REPAIR BILL. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE, AS THE DEFECT IS WIDESPREAD IN MANY OF THEIR LIGHT TRUCKS

  25. Service brakes, Nov 22, 2017

WE WANT TO REPORT A SAFETY FEATURE IN 2015 GMC SIERRA 1500. WE BOUGHT A VEHICLE BRAND NEW AND IT CURRENTLY HAS ABOUT 40,000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. ON 11/4/2017 AFTER WE GOT OFF THE INTERSTATE 10, THE BREAK FROM THIS TRUCK STOPPED WORKING, WE HAD A DIFFICULT AND DANGEROUS TIME TO MAKE IT STOP, AND WAS LUCKY TO MANAGE TO GET INTO A STORE'S PARKING. WE HAVE TO HAUL IT TO THE LOCAL GMC ON MONDAY AND FOUND OUT THE BREAK PUMP WAS BAD. THIS PROBLEM COULD CAUSE A DEADLY ACCIDENT IF WE WERE STILL IN THE FREEWAY. WE CALLED GMC TO REPORT THE PROBLEM AND THEY SAID THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. THIS PROBLEM IS SERIOUS AND NEED TO BE ADDRESSED.
