  8. Electrical system, 12v/24v/48v battery, cablesDec 12, 2019

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2019-2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 trucks. The battery positive (B+) cable rings may have been manufactured with excessive glue, potentially causing an intermittent electrical connection between the B+ cable and alternator.

GMC of Vacaville California sold me a 2019 GMC Sierra that has a know back window leak issues. I was told by service worker GMC of Vacaville California sold me a 2019 GMC Sierra that has a know back window leak issues. I was told by service worker Brent Lewis/405 that is a common issue and GMC is aware of this issue that the vehicle was brought in before for this same issue prior from [XXX] but was not taken care of. I purchased this vehicle on [XXX] along with a 5k extend warranty that I was told is a bumper to bumper warranty. Come to find out it does not cover a manufacturer defected back window installation. My concern is that they are aware of these issues and water sitting on the inside of the cab due to a leak causes black mold and could cause serious illness to myself and my children. 3. Other or unspecified, Apr 15, 2024

Unknown. My truck has only about 46,000 miles . We experience heavy rains on the week of 4/8/2024 and I went to go load groceries in the back and saw water coming down the back window. I went straight to the dealer and spoke with Tom a manager at GMC. He took me to service and a mechanic came out and said this a common and expensive job. He said I may need anew window replacement. I left and did research on this problem. There seems to be EVERYONE who has a GMC or Chevy has this problem. Many people are experiencing rust, mold, etc. This is a MAJOR issue. All you hear about mold health isssues. NOT any issue that should be over look. Whenthere is water there IS mold. This issue probably has been going on longer but due to heavy rain and me going in the back I saw water. This is something that dealers need to fix.

  4. Steering, Apr 10, 2024, crash

Loss of steering multiple times. Very dangerous to try and drive. GMC says shut off vehicle for 20 minutes and try again. Once it worked otherwise it continued to lose power steering, either driving or turning on. I have went into GMC forums and found out there are thousands more people that this has happened to. Thank you for what you people do.

  5. Structure, Apr 8, 2024

My tailgate has been unlatching while driving and I do not understand why. It came down while I had my trailer attached and it damaged the tailgate. No one is touching the button that unlatches the tailgate and it is closed when I start driving, but sometime before I arrive to the next destination it's miraculously down. This is very dangerous and I would like help getting it taken care of

The local dealer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The contact was informed of a TSB for the failure, but the VIN was not included in the Extended Warranty Coverage. The failure mileage was 25,000.

  7. Engine, Mar 10, 2024

    Lifter cam failure. Twice

  8. Power train, Mar 5, 2024

While driving down a road in the moring hours, lost complete power and Truck shutdown. Thank God, I was able to pull off the road, since it was a Sunday Moring. Truck was not able to restart. If this had happened on a busy interstate. My wife and I could have been hurt or killed. Had the truck towed to dealer. Replaced the Transfer Case Module. Still don't know if what they put in truck was correct since mine was different than what was shown on computer specifications.

  9. Electrical system, Service brakes, Engine, Feb 28, 2024

Complete system failure while driving. Lost control of vehicle, no breaks. Had it brought to dealership. Lifter failure and bent rod, top engine failure which caused everything to malfunction. Vehicle has 88K miles on it. This is a defect. We had taken it in for the ticking problem in the past and they did nothing for us. Everything is documented. We are afraid that bottom half of engine was compromised. Do not feel safe driving this vehicle anymore. I do not want it to blow or lose control of vehicle again. This is a known issue and must be addressed. There was a service bulletin put out for my engine and there is an exact part by part that needs to be replaced, however GM is unwilling to listen to us at this time. Please look into this because this will happen to more and more consumers. This is very scary. What is the cost of a life?

  10. Electrical system, Feb 28, 2024

There is an issue with the drivers door locking mechanism. Something between the electrical and the mechanical components that lock and unlocks the door keeps breaking. So far you can always unlock the door manually by pulling the door handle but it sporadically will not lock or unlock by the remote or push button. Also it doesn’t always lock when put into drive like the rest of the doors do.

  11. Engine, Feb 24, 2024

Engine oil cooler line crimp connections are not properly crimped and leaking oil whether the truck is operating or sitting off. It also appears the flare or threaded connection has failed. I went to the GM dealership who said my truck wasn’t part of the recall but my lines are very clearly the same affected parts and would not be available for repair under the recall. I suspect there are other trucks like mine that were missed in the initial recall. I had the lines inspected at another repair shop but all the GM oil cooler lines were unavailable and no back order was permitted. There have been no warning lights for low oil pressure yet but the worst level I have seen so far was only 3 of 8 in quarts in the oil pan. I’m afraid of the lines blowing out on the road and causing a total uncontrollable engine failure and oil slick for other drivers.

  12. Other or unspecified, Feb 15, 2024

Purchased a brand new from dealer 2019 GMC Sierra 1500 in July 2019. I noticed not long after that time that the back window leaked once in a while when it rained. I live in Phoenix Arizona, so rain is a rare occurance and it is in the back seat area of the truck where I do not sit back there or look back there very often checking for leaks. I mentioned it to the service advisor when I was trying to get a very long running issue with the tire pressure monitors that they would not properly fix. It took nearly 2 years for them to correct that issue, and by the time they fixed that issue, truck was out of warranty and they said they had no record of this problem and they could not fix. I am worried about the water causing mold or rust up under the head liner that would cause me and my family medical issues. Water, metal amd fabric head liners do not mix and there is a water stain on the roof liner that grows every time it rains. This is a medical issue and nobody should have to wonder what is growing above their head inside their vehicle while going to work. I see many online reports of a cracked window frame on these model year trucks, so it seems to be a widespread problem with either their vendor for these windows or the installation process at the factory.

  13. Power train, Jan 18, 2024

The contact owns a 2019 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the shift to park message was displayed. After turning off the vehicle, there was an abnormal beeping sound heard. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 86,018.

  14. Service brakes, Electrical system, Dec 1, 2023

The contact owns a 2019 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated while driving 45 MPH, the service brakes were inoperable, and the vehicle experienced phantom braking. The vehicle came to a complete stop on the highway. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic however, the failure could not be duplicated. The contact called and made the dealer aware of the failure. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent. Additionally, the speed odometer was inoperable. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.

  15. Service brakes, Nov 19, 2023

Electrical short on brake booster performance error code c0021 while operating vehicle . Brake pedal became stiff and higher than where I had it . Vehicle making hissing noises and will no longer start due to this error. Safety concern this is not part of a recall list. I nearly crashed. I had to utilize emergency brake.

  16. Structure, Nov 18, 2023

Rear window is leaking water inside cab and may cause mold

  17. Service brakes, Back over prevention, Forward collision avoidance, Nov 18, 2023

I put my truck in break. Service mode to replace the brake pads. I began changing the pads And could not get the piston to retract all the way, I hooked uon a c clamp to retract the piston. In the event i moved the rotor to another spot and the brake service mode turned off and the piston extended. My fingers nearly got caught in the caliper. When put in brake service mode, it should not automatically extend when turning the rotor. Someone will get hurt bad at some point in a swrvice garage or at home when wirking on brakes.

  18. Other or unspecified, Nov 13, 2023

The frame of the rear window cracked which allowed water to enter the cab. Water made its way onto the rear anchor strap of a car seat and saturated it which could have caused it to possibly not perform properly, which could have injured a child. Since the rear window can be opened electrically it is possible that a short could occur due to the water intrusion. GM has a service bulletin out about resealing the window but will not cover the repair or replacement of the window if it is outside the 36,000 mile warranty period. Obviously this is a manufacturer defect that has numerous occurrences or there would not be a bulletin created for it.

  19. Electrical system, Other or unspecified, Nov 9, 2023

I feel they need to extend the warranty miles and time frame due to the common occurrence of this issue

  22. Power train, Oct 11, 2023

The torque converter of transmission went out on my 2019 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali with only 62072 miles. My safety has been put at risk daily, from intermittent shuddering and loss of power. My vehicle underwent a multi point inspection at Earnhardt Buick GMC confirming I will need a complete transmission assembly estimated to be around $7100. There were no indications or dash lights, the only reason I brought it in is from hard shifts, and intermittent shuddering.

  23. Power train, Oct 11, 2023

I have had frint driver and passenger ball joints go out 3 times all together.

  24. Other or unspecified, Sep 25, 2023

The rear window is leaking severely. It seem to be an ongoing issue with these trucks at the rear brake light spoiler. It’s a substantial amount of water and there is water damage and mold.

  25. Engine, Sep 11, 2023

Engine Oil Cooler Line detached from Crip fitting. Vehicle: 2019 Sierra 1500 powered with 6.2L L87. GM has a published policy for a specific 530 vehicles, GM Claims my VIN was not covered hence no recall police "Customer Satisfaction Program N212326940" letter was released for subject VIN. It's clear, this issue exists beyond the scope of 530 vehicles. No know warnings existed prior to the incident. Vehicle has been repaired at owners expense and not supported by GM.
