WHEN DRIVING AT 60 MPH ON HIGHWAY, AND CROSSING OVER A BRIDGE, THE FRONT OF THE JEEP, AND STEERING WHEEL STARTED SHAKING VERY BADLY. IT SEEMED LIKE THE FRONT END WAS GOING TO FALL APART. I HAD TO SLOW DOWN TO ABOUT 35 MPH FOR IT TO STOP. THE ROADS WERE CLEAR, BUT IT WAS BELOW FREEZING OUT.
Steering, Jan 22, 2019
THE STEERING IS VERY LOOSE ESPECIALLY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. I CONSTANTLY NEED TO CORRECT MY STEERING TO STAY IN MY LANE. I CAN MOVE MY STEERING WHEEL ABOUT 2" EITHER LEFT OR RIGHT WITHOUT ANY RESPONSE. I HAVE DEFLATED MY TIRES TO 34PSI AND I HAVE REPLACED THE STEERING STABILIZER WITH AN AFTER MARKET ONE TRYING TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE. I HAVE 6K MILES ON IT AND IT HAS DONE THIS FROM DAY 1. I MENTIONED THIS TO MY DEALER AND THEY SAID "ITS A JEEP THING, THAT'S THE WAY THEY DRIVE". WELL I HAVE OWNED 2 OTHER JEEPS BEFORE AND THEY DID NOT HANDLE LIKE THIS. THIS MAKES IT VERY FATIGUING TO DRIVE FOR LONG DISTANCES.
Steering, Suspension, Wheels, Jan 22, 2019
JEEP STEERING WHEEL AND FRONT END BEGIN SHAKING VIOLENTLY WHEN A SMALL BUMP IS STRUCK AT HIGHER SPEEDS. THIS FORCES THE DRIVER TO SLOW TO UNSAFE SPEEDS ON THE FREEWAY POTENTIALLY CREATING ACCIDENTS.. JEEP CURRENTLY WILL NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM, BUT ONLY ALLOWS THE DEALERSHIP TO REPLACE THE STEERING DAMPER, WHICH FAILS WITHIN THE SAME WEEK.
Steering, Jan 21, 2019
DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY THIS MORNING TO WORK, ENTERING A CURVE ON THE HIGHWAY I NEARLY LOST ALL ABILITY TO STEER MY JEEP AT 60MPH. I HAD TO TUG ON THE WHEEL WITH BOTH HANDS TO KEEP IT ON THE HIGHWAY. THE STEERING CAME BACK AFTER ABOUT 30 SECONDS ALMOST RESULTING IN AN OVER CORRECTION. THEN ABOUT 10 MINUTES LATER IT HAPPENED AGAIN THIS TIME I WAS ON A MUCH STRAIGHTER PIECE OF ROAD THANKFULLY. THE REST OF MY 30 MIN DRIVE TO WORK WAS UNEVENTFUL. I'VE CALLED TWO DEALERSHIPS AND BEEN IN TOUCH WITH THE JEEP WAVE PROGRAM REPRESENTATIVES. THEY ARE SAYING THEY CAN'T LOOK AT IT FOR DAYS. MY CAR IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AT HIGHWAYS SPEEDS AND ITS UP TO ME TO JUST WAIT UNTIL THEY CAN LOOK AT IT.

BOUGHT MY JEEP 2018 WRANGLER BRAND NEW, HAD ISSUED WITH THE STEERING BECOME VERY HARD TO TURN WAS BARELY TURNING ON A CORNER STREET. LITERALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO MAKE A RIGHT TURN,ALL OF A SUDDEN IT JUST BECAME EASY TO TURN AS IF NOTHING WAS WRONG. ALSO A SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT AND THE STABILITY CONTROLL LIGHT COMES ON EVERY NOW AND THEN, NOW THE ISSUE IS THE SCREEN IS DISPLAYING AN ANTI THEFT SCREEN ASKING FOR A THEFT CODE AND JEEP WILL NOT TURN ON.
Steering, Jan 21, 2019
IT HAS HAPPENED A FEW TIMES DURING VERY COLD TEMPERATURES AND HIGH SPEEDS WHERE THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKS AND ITS VERY HARD SWITCHING LANES. I DO NOT FEEL IT IN CITY DRIVING. I HAVE DRIVEN IT ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN THIS HAS HAPPENED AND THE PROBLEMS PERSISTS FOR ABOUT THE FIRST 30 MINUTES OF THE DRIVE. AFTER 30 MINUTES OF DRIVING IT GOES BACK TO NORMAL. I HAS NOT HAPPENED IN TEMPERATURES OVER 35 DEGREES

EXPERIENCING 'DEATH WOBBLE' AT HIGH SPEEDS WHEN HITTING BUMP IN ROAD. JEEP SHAKES VIOLENTLY. ONE TIME I HAD TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. SEEMS AS IF SOMETHING IS LOOSE WITH THE STEERING OR SUSPENSION ISN'T UP TO PAR.
Steering, Jan 18, 2019
I AM EXPERIENCING "DEATH WOBBLE". I HAVE HAD 3 INSTANCES OF IT IN THE LAST WEEK. IT SHOOK SO BAD YESTERDAY IT CRACKED THE WINDSHIELD. IT STARTS WHEN HITTING A BUMP AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND WON'T STROP UNTIL YOU CAN SLOW DOWN TO AROUND 40 MPH. THIS IS VERY DIFFICULT IN HIGH CONGESTION TRAFFIC.
Steering, Jan 17, 2019
I HAVE HAD STEERING/ WANDERING ISSUES WITH THIS WRANGLER SINCE I DROVE IT OFF THE LOT. IT'S IMPOSSIBLE TO DRIVE IN A STRAIGHT LINE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. IT'S A CONSTANT BATTLE TO DRIVE.

JEEP WRANGLER 2018 JL WITH 1010 MILES AND 5 WEEKS OLD. STEERING IS VERY LOOSE WHEN DRIVING AT ANY SPEED, BUT SAY AT 60, I CAN MOVE THE STEERING WHEEL AT LEAST 2 INCHES FROM RIGHT TO LEFT BEFORE THE STEERING RESPONDS. IT TAKES CONSTANT CORRECTIONS TO KEEP THE VEHICLE IN YOUR LANE. WE LIVE IN A MOUNTAINOUS AREA WITH NARROW WINDY ROADS AND MANY LARGE TRUCKS (LOGGING TRUCKS ETC). ITS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE THESE ROADS WITH THE VEHICLE BECAUSE YOUR CONSTANTLY CORRECTING TO STAY IN YOUR LANE. I'VE HAD IT TO THE DEALER, THEY'VE ACKNOWLEDGED THE ISSUE, BUT THEIR TELLING ME THEY DROVE ANOTHER JEEP JUST LIKE MINE AND IT DOES THE SAME THING SO THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO. THEY AND I ARE CONTACTING JEEP. AT THIS TIME I WON'T LET ME WIFE OR KIDS DRIVE THE VEHICLE, AND IT'S PRETTY MUCH PARKED IN THE GARAGE UNTIL THIS ISSUE IS RESOLVED.
Steering, Jan 16, 2019
WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THE VEHICLE DRIFTS ALL OVER THE LANE REQUIRING CONSTANT CORRECTING TO KEEP VEHICLE IN LANE. THE STEERING HAS A VERY LOOSE FEEL WHICH COULD CAUSE DRIVER TO LOSE CONTROL AND CRASH.
Steering, Jan 16, 2019
IN COLD WEATHER THE STEERING LOCKS WHILE DRIVING. I AM ABLE TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL ABOUT 1/2 AN INCH AND THAT IS IT. THE ISSUE LASTED FOR 6 MILES WHILE I WAS IN TRAVELING IN MONTANA. I WAS DRIVING BELOW 25 MPH ON PAVED AND GRAVEL ROADS. THE TEMPERATURE WAS BELOW 35 DEGREES. I LOVE IN CALIFORNIA AND THE WEATHER HAVE NOT BEEN THAT COLD SO I HASN'T OCCURRED SINCE THEN. UNFORTUNATELY I DO NOT HAVE A VIDEO, I WAS TOO CONCENTRATED ON NOT CRASHING.
Steering, Jan 16, 2019
VIOLENT STEERING WOBBLE OCCURS AFTER TRAVELING OVER UNEVEN ROAD SURFACES AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, MAKING THE VEHICLE EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO CONTROL. VEHICLE IS A STOCK JL WRANGLER UNLIMITED SAHARA WITH LESS THAN 10,000 MILES. THE CONDITION HAS OCCURRED SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NEW, AND A SIMPLE BUMP, BRIDGE JOINT OR POT HOLE CAN SET THE VEHICLE INTO A DEATH WOBBLE AT SPEEDS ABOVE 60 MPH.
Steering, Jan 16, 2019
WITH ABOUT 1100 MILES ON THIS BRAND NEW JEEP I HIT A BUMP ON THE HIGHWAY AT 65-70 MPH. THE JEEP STARTED TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY AND I HAD ALL I COULD DO TO HOLD ON TO THE STEERING WHEEL. IF YOU SLOW DOWN TO UNDER 40 MPH THE SHAKING STOPS. EVER SINCE ANYTIME I AM ON A HIGHWAY AT 60 MPH OR MORE EVEN A BRIDGE JOINT WILL CAUSE THE JEEP TO GO INTO IT'S SHAKE, RATTLE, AND ROLL ROUTINE. I CAN ALWAYS STOP IT BY IMMEDIATELY SLOWING DOWN BUT IN HEAVY BOSTON TRAFFIC THIS IS SIMPLY NOT A SAFE ALTERNATIVE. FOR A $40,000 VEHICLE THAT HAS HARDLY BEEN DRIVEN YET I THINK THIS IS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT THAT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. I HOPE YOU WILL TAKE IT SERIOUSLY AS THIS DEFECT HAS BEEN GOING ON IN JEEPS FOR YEARS AND IT HAS NOT BEEN ADDRESSED. IF YOU DON'T THINK IT'S A SAFETY ISSUE YOU TAKE IT ON RTE 128 AT RUSH HOUR AND GET BACK TO ME WHEN IT GIVES YOU A HEART ATTACK.

HAVE A FRONT END AND STEERING WHEEL SHAKE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS WHEN HITTING BUMPS.
Steering, Jan 15, 2019
RIGHT AROUND 7000 MILES, I BEGAN EXPERIENCING DEATH WOBBLE AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. THE DEATH WOBBLE IS INITIATED WHEN SPEEDS ARE GREATER THAN 35MPH AND THE WRANGLER HITS AN IMPERFECTION (BUMP, SEWER CAP, HIGHWAY BRIDGE EXPANSION GAP, POTHOLE, ETC). THE WRANGLER'S STEERING WHEEL BEGINS SHAKING/OSCILLATING VIOLENTLY BACK AND FORTH AND DOES NOT STOP UNTIL THE VEHICLE SPEED IS BROUGHT DOWN TO A STOP. THIS IS NO FUN WHEN IT HAPPENS TO YOU AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. I HAVE REACHED OUT TO FCA BUT THEY TOLD ME THIS IS NORMAL FOR A FIXED-AXLE/SOLID-AXLE VEHICLE. THIS IS NOT NORMAL, IT IS ACTUALLY QUITE DANGEROUS. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE MY VEHICLE.
Steering, Jan 14, 2019
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 JEEP WRANGLER. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH OR MORE, THE STEERING SEIZED. WHEN DRIVING LESS THAN 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE OPERATED NORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SCRANTON DODGE CHRYSLER JEEP RAM (LOCATED AT 1146 WYOMING AVE, SCRANTON, PA 18509, (570) 344-1261) TO BE DIAGNOSED, BUT THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO RETRIEVE A FAULT CODE OR DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS INTERMITTENT AND SEEMED TO OCCUR DURING COLDER TEMPERATURES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 17,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY, CONSTRUCTION ZONE ON A SPEED BELOW 55, SUDDENLY THE STEERING STARTED TO WOBBLE. STEERING TOOK A 45 DEGREE TO THE RIGHT AND WAS ABOUT TO HIT A CAR NEXT BUT GAINED CONTROL BACK BY HOLDING THE STEERING TIGHT AND STEERING TO LEFT, LOST CONTROL FO THE VEHICLE FOR ALMOST 30 SECS AND REDUCED SPEED TO 20 MPH TURNING ON THE EMERGENCY BLINKER (THIS WAS ON A FREEWAY). AWAITING TO SCHEDULE A SERVICE APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALER.
Steering, Jan 14, 2019
WHEN DRIVING AT SPEEDS OVER 50+ MPH AND HITTING A BUMP IN THE ROAD, THE STEERING WHEEL WILL SHAKE VIOLENTLY UNTIL SPEED IS REDUCED TO BELOW 40 MPH. THE DEALER HAS SERVICED IT TWICE TRYING TO ADD A DAMPENER HOWEVER THIS DOES NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. DEALER NOW SAYS THE PROBLEM MOST LIKELY CAN'T BE FIXED.
Steering, Jan 14, 2019
FEELS LIKE A DEATH WOBBLE. HITTING A BUMP ON THE HIGHWAY CAUSED MAJOR SHAKING IN THE STEERING. HAD IT AT THE DEALER ONCE AND THEY REPLACED THE STEERING DAMPER. HAPPENING NOW AGAIN
Steering, Jan 12, 2019
WHEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, OR AT SPEEDS ABOVE 60 MPH, IF THERE IS A CHANGE IN THE ROAD, SUCH AS A POT HOLE, A DIP IN THE ROAD OR AN OVERPASS TRANSITION, THE STEERING WHEEL SHAKES VIOLENTLY UNTIL THE VEHICLE COMES TO A COMPLETE STOP OR UNDER 50 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR AND PICKED BACK UP THE 27TH OR DECEMBER. THE SHAKING STEERING WHEEL STARTED BACK UP AGAIN 1/10/19. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY WAITING TO BE DROPPED OFF AT THE DEALERSHIP IN TWO WEEKS WHEN A LOANER WILL BE AVAILABLE.

DRIVING ON THE 355 TOLLWAY DRIVING 76 MPH, I WENT OVER A BRIDGE THAT HAD A SLOPE (BUMP) AND THE JEEP STARTED SHAKING VIOLENTLY. THE STEERING WHEEL WAS UNCONTROLLABLE. BEING IN THE MIDDLE LANE I HAD MANY "NEAR MISSES" OF OTHER CARS POTENTIALLY HITTING ME. I LET OFF THE GAS PEDDLE AND HAD TO PULL OVER BEFORE THE SHAKING STOPPED. BEING THE FAMILY CAR, I AM NO LONGER DRIVING IN FEAR OF AN ACCIDENT MAY OCCUR. I CONTACTED THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT BUT AM HESITANT TO DRIVE THE JEEP THERE.
Steering, Jan 12, 2019
LOOSE STEERING, WANDERING ON THE ROAD AND DIFFICULTY STAYING IN A STRAIGHT LINE WHEN ON UNEVEN ROADWAYS. WHEN GOING OVER BUMPS THE VEHICLE PULLS TO ONE SIDE OR THE OTHER AND WHEN YOU TRY TO CORRECT IT THE STEERING OVER-CORRECTS AND YOU GET INTO A BACK AND FORTH WOBBLE. AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS.
Steering, Jan 11, 2019
STEERING IS SLOPPY. THE VEHICLE WANDERS AND TAKES SIGNIFICANT EFFORT AND CONSTANT ADJUSTMENT OF THE STEERING WHEEL TO KEEP IT IN THE LANE. TOO MUCH FREE PLAY IN THE STEERING. THIS HAPPENS AT ANY SPEED EVEN AT 30MPH.
