  1. Back over prevention, sensing system, cameraSep 12, 2024

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2018-2024 Jeep Wrangler vehicles. Dealers replaced the harness for the center brake light and rearview camera and/or the spare tire carrier/harness assembly, as necessary, free of charge. All vehicles were repaired by January 15, 2024. Owner notification letters were mailed September 26, 2024. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. THEY STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE AND RETURNED THE VEHICLE. I THEN TOOK TO AN AFTERMARKET DUAL STEERING STABILIZER THAT HID THE PROBLEM FOR ANOTHER 8OOO MILES. UPON TAKING BACK TO DEALER WITH NOW 18000 MILES - THERE IS AN ADDITIONAL STEERING STABILIZER THAT FACTORY RECOMMENDS. DEALER WILL NOT TAKE AFTERMARKET OFF AND INSTALL RECOMMENDED FACTORY REPLACEMENT. WHERE IS PROTECTION FOR CONSUMER THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED FOR A TEENAGE DRIVER AND IT IS NOT SAFE...

  2. Steering, Suspension, Dec 6, 2019

WHEN DRIVING AT AROUND 60 MPH OR FASTER, HITTING A BUMP IN THE ROAD CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO SHAKE SOMEWHAT VIOLENTLY FOR 10-30 SECONDS OR SO. THIS HAPPENS MULTIPLE TIMES PER WEEK AND STARTED ABOUT 2 MONTHS AGO.

  3. Steering, Suspension, Nov 26, 2019

DRIVING ON HIGHWAY @ APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, CAR LOST MOST STEERING CONTROL AND VIOLENTLY SWAYED FROM SIDE TO SIDE (FELT AS IF A TIRE HAD BLOWN OR COME OFF); IN INSIDE LANE OF 3 LANE ROAD; EXTREMELY HARD TO CONTROL VEHICLE. PUT ON FLASHERS; OTHER DRIVER'S ABLE TO SEE CONTROL ISSUE AND ALLOWED ME TO SHAKILY GET ACROSS OTHER TWO LANES TO SIDE OF ROAD.

  4. Steering, Suspension, Electrical system, Nov 22, 2019

MY 2018 JEEP JL HAS HAD NON STOP ISSUES WITH THE "DEATH WOBBLE" SO MUCH THAT I HAVE HAD TO PARK THIS VEHICLE AND NOT DRIVE IT . IT HAS BEEN IN THREE TIMES FOR REPAIRS , EACH TIME PROMISED A FIX WOULD OCCUR. LAST WEEK I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE BETWEEN WORK AND HOME, AND I HIT A REGULAR UNEVEN PAVEMENT ONE WOULD DRIVE OVER EVERYDAY , AND THE VEHICLE RESONATED SO MUCH THAT IT PUSHED ME INTO THE LEFT LANE.. LUCKILY NO ONE WAS THERE BUT DECIDED TO PARK THE VEHICLE TILL THE NEXT SCHEDULED FIX ON 11/18. AFTER RECEIVING THE VEHICLE BACK THE INSTABILITY IS STILL THERE AND RESONATES WHEN GOING OVER ANY UNEVENNESS IN ROADS. I HAVE CREATED A CASE WITH JEEP WAIVE (CASE NUMBER 68188061) AND CALLED JIM COGDILL DODGE DEALERSHIP IN KNOXVILLE TN WHOM HAS REPAIRED THE FRONT END THE LAST THREE TIMES . I WAS TOLD ON 11/22 THAT THE DEALERSHIP JUST GOT NOTICE BY A OFFICIAL CHRYSLER NOTIFICATION THAT THE RECALL FIX FOR THE DEATH WOBBLE IS NOT FIXING THE INSTABILITY IN THE FRONT END ,AND IN SOME CASES MAKING IT WORSE. THEY HAVE BEEN TOLD TO STOP FIXING THE CARS UNTIL A NEW PART/FIX IS RELEASED BY CHRYSLER. I NOW HAVE A CAR THAT I CANNOT DRIVE, PURCHASE NEW JUST LAST YEAR AND HAVE LOST ALL TRUST IN THE SAFETY OF THIS CAR. I AM LOOKING FOR HELP TO SOLUTION AND HELP OTHERS WHOM ARE IN MY SAME SITUATION. ADDITIONALLY, MY VEHICLE COMPUTER HAS MESSED UP AND IS SHOWING ALMOST 1 MILLION MILES (999,999) . THIS COMPLAINT IS ALSO PART OF MY CASE AS I CANNOT SALE MY VEHICLE, OR BE LEGAL WITH THE ODOMETER IN CURRENT STATUS.

  5. Steering, Suspension, Nov 22, 2019

MORE THAN ONCE I HAVE EXPERIENCED EXTREME SHAKING OF THE STEERING WHEEL AND VEHICLE. IT HAPPENS WHEN I AM ON THE HIGHWAY AND HIT A BUMP. EACH TIME IT HAS HAPPENED I TENSE UP FOR FEAR OF LOSING CONTROL. I HAVE TO SLOW DOWN TO ABOUT 35MPH FOR IT TO STOP. THIS IS NOT SAFE TO DO ON THE HIGHWAY. IT IS ALSO ILLEGAL TO DO AS THE MINIMUM SPEED LIMIT IS 45MPH. I BROUGHT MY JEEP INTO THE DEALERSHIP ON 11/11/2019 FOR AN OIL CHANGE, TIRE ROTATION AND TO HAVE SOME DAMPENER THING INSTALLED DUE TO A RECALL. THE VERY NEXT DAY IT DID THE SAME THING. I HAVE NOW BEEN TRYING TO AVOID GOING OVER 45 MPH.

  6. Steering, Suspension, Engine, Nov 19, 2019

WHEN TRAVELING ON HIGHWAY AT 50-70 MPH AND HITTING A BUMP, THE FRONT OF THE JEEP BEGINS TO SHAKE OR WOBBLE VERY HARD BACK AND FORTH. THE ONLY WAY TO STOP IT IS TO HIT THE BRAKES QUICKLY AND HARD, MAKING DRIVING VERY UNSAFE - ESPECIALLY INCREASING THE DANGER OF GETTING REAR ENDED. IT HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP 3 TIMES TO CORRECT THIS ISSUE TO NO AVAIL. ENGINE LIGHT ALSO GOES ON AND OFF REPEATEDLY.

  8. Steering, Suspension, Nov 18, 2019

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 JEEP WRANGLER. THE CONTACT RECEIVED AN UNKNOWN RECALL NOTICE REGARDING THE "DEATH WOBBLE". MOUNTAIN VALLEY MOTORS, INC. (7535 APPALACHIAN HWY, BLUE RIDGE, GA 30513) PERFORMED THE RECALL REPAIR. WHILE THE CONTACT WAS TAKING A LONG ROAD TRIP, THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED THE "DEATH WOBBLE". THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MILLER'S CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (48 KEELY ISLAND ROAD, MARTINSBURG, WV 25401, (888) 362-8027) TO HAVE THE RECALL REPAIR PERFORMED AGAIN. THE DEALER CLAIMED THAT THE ORIGINAL RECALL REPAIR WAS PERFORMED INCORRECTLY AND THE PART WAS INSTALLED UPSIDE DOWN. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AND ABLE TO BE DRIVEN HOME; HOWEVER, THE CONTACT STATED THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO SHAKE. THE MOUNTAIN VALLEY DEALER STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER ISSUED NEW INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO INSTALL THE PART, WHICH COULD HAVE CAUSED CONFUSION. THE DEALER DID NOT KNOW WHEN THE INSTRUCTIONS WERE ISSUED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 13,000. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN.

WHILE DRIVING NORTHBOUND ON I-275 TO TAMPA FROM SARASOTA WITH MY WIFE AND NEWBORN SON, THE VEHICLE BEGAN SHAKING VIOLENTLY AFTER GOING OVER A BUMPY PART OF THE ROAD AROUND A CURVE OF THE HIGHWAY. THIS CONTINUED UNTIL I PULLED MY FOOT OFF THE GAS AND ALLOWED THE VEHICLE TO SLOW 10-15 MPH.

  10. Steering, Suspension, Nov 16, 2019

MY WIFE EXPERIENCED STARTED EXPERIENCING THE HARMONIC FREQUENCY ANOMALY AKA "DEATH WOBBLE" JUST AS THE WEATHER STARTED TO GET COOLER IN NJ. I BROUGHT VEHICLE IN TO PERFORM THE TSB ON 11/15. THE VERY NEXT DAY 11/16 THE DEATH WOBBLE CAME BACK ONLY THIS TIME MUCH WORSE! SHE WAS HEADING TO A 4H LEADERSHIP TRAINING COURSE WITH A CAR FULL OF CHILDREN, THANKFULLY SHE WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL AND PULL OFF THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY WHICH IN ITSELF IT NOT SAFE TO DO. THE FIX THAT FCA HAS PUBLISHED DOES NOT WORK - NHTSA DO YOUR JOB INVESTIGATE AND MANDATE FCA FIX THE ISSUE NOT PUT A BAND AID ON A BROKEN LEG.

  11. Steering, Suspension, Nov 12, 2019

WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AT 60MPH+ MY JEEP GOES INTO THE DEATH WOBBLE WHEN I HIT A ROUGH PATCH IN THE ROAD. THIS IS NOT A BUMP IN THE ROAD BUT A ROUGH PATCH! THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME MANY TIMES AND IT IS EXTREMELY SCARY! I HAVE TO SLOW DOWN TO AROUND 40MPH TO MAKE IT STOP SHAKING SIDE TO SIDE SO VIOLENTLY I CAN HARDLY KEEP IT ON THE ROAD. I HAVE ALREADY BEEN IN AND HAD THE UPGRADE DONE TO MY STEERING DAMPER. I HAVE NO MODIFICATIONS ON MY JEEP... I DRIVE IT AS PURCHASED. THIS RECENTLY HAPPENED ON THE INTERSTATE WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH IN THE PASSING LANE IN HEAVY TRAFFIC... I'M LUCKY TO STILL BE ALIVE.

  12. Steering, Suspension, Nov 11, 2019

JUST HAD MY OIL CHANGE AND TIRE ROTATION DONE 11/1/2019 AND BEGIN EXPERIENCING WOBBLE IN FRONTEND AFTER GOING OVER SMALL BUMPS IN THE ROAD. NOW I SEE OTHER VEHICLES HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. SOMEONE DESCRIBED IT THE "DEATH WOBBLE" I AGREE I THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO CRASH MY JEEP.

  13. Steering, Suspension, Wheels, Nov 11, 2019

I WAS DRIVING MY JEEP ON THE HIGHWAY AT 65MPH AND DROVE OVER A SEAM(BUMP) IN THE ROAD. THE FRONT WHEELS AND STEERING WHEEL BEGAN THE SHAKE VIOLENTLY AND UNCONTROLLABLY. I HAD TO BRING THE VEHICLE TO A COMPLETE STOP IN ORDER FOR THE SHAKING TO STOP. FINDING A PLACE TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP ON THE HIGHWAY IS NOT SAFE AT ALL.

  14. Steering, Suspension, Nov 8, 2019

WHEN I HIT A SMALL BUMP GOING OVER 50MPH. SHAKES VIOLENTLY. JEEP HAS TRIED TO REPAIR TWICE. STILL DOES IT. VERY UNSAFE, ESPECIALLY FOR WINTER DRIVING.

  15. Steering, Suspension, Nov 7, 2019

I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY WHEN MY JEEP WRANGLER JL HIT A BUMP AND THE CAR STARTED SHAKING UNCONTROLLABLY AND IT WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO DRIVE. I WASN'T SURE WHAT WAS HAPPENING SO I SLOWED DOWN SIGNIFICANTLY IN CASE I NEEDED TO PULL OVER. THE SHAKING THEN STOPPED BUT AFTER ABOUT 15-20 SECONDS. NOT LESS THAT A MILE DOWN THE ROAD DID THIS EXACT SAME THING HAPPEN AGAIN AFTER I HIT A BUMP. IT LASTED JUST AS LONG AND DIDN'T STOP UNTIL I SLOWED DOWN SIGNIFICANTLY. I BELIEVE THIS IS RELATED TO AN ISSUE WITH THE FRONT SUSPENSION AND STEERING COLUMN.

  16. Steering, Suspension, Other or unspecified, Nov 7, 2019

SEVERE SHAKING IN FRONT END . ALSO POROSITY IN FRAME WELDS

  17. Steering, Suspension, Nov 4, 2019

I BOUGHT THIS BRAND NEW AND DID NOT MODIFY IT. A FEW MONTHS AFTER PURCHASE, IT STARTED VIOLENTLY SHAKING AFTER I HIT A BUMP AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. ON 3/7/19, THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE STEERING WHEEL DAMPENER. IT STILL WASN'T FIXED SO I BROUGHT IT IN AGAIN ON 4/12/19 AND THEY REPLACED THE SAME PART. IT SEEMED TO FIX IT FOR THE MOST PART BUT NOW IT'S BACK TO THE VIOLENTLY SHAKING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT ON THURSDAY 11/7/19 FOR THEM TO FIX IT AGAIN SO I CAN DRIVE MY BRAND NEW CAR. I HAVE READ THAT THIS IS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE, BUT I ASSURE YOU IT IS. I CAN'T CONTROL THE STEERING WHEEL UNTIL I SLOW DOWN TO ABOUT 45. GOING FROM 65 TO 45 ON A HIGHWAY WHILE THE WHOLE CAR IS SHAKING IS IN FACT A HAZARD. I AM GOING TO REQUEST COPIES OF MY SERVICE CONTRACTS WHEN I GET TO THE DEALERSHIP ON THURSDAY. IF YOU SHOULD NEED THEM, I CAN SEND THEM TO YOU.*DT*JB

  18. Steering, Suspension, Wheels, Nov 4, 2019

WHEN DRIVING OVER SPEEDS OF 60 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY, AND HITTING EVEN THE SLIGHTEST OF BUMPS, MY JEEP STEERING WAS UNCONTROLLABLE, AND I IMAGINE THIS IS THE "DEATH WOBBLE" I HAVE HEARD ABOUT OCCURRING IN JEEPS. THE ONLY WAY TO MANAGE IT WAS TO SLOW WAY DOWN TO 35 MPH AND AVOID BUMPS OF ANY KIND.

  19. Steering, Suspension, Other or unspecified, Oct 28, 2019

AT 65 MPH HIGHWAY SPEEDS, WHEN VEHICLE HITS A POTHOLE OR BUMP; VEHICLE WOBBLES, SHAKES, AND LOSES STEERING CONTROL. AS KNOWN "DEATH WOBBLE." OCCURS ON A REGULAR BASIS.

  20. Steering, Suspension, Other or unspecified, Oct 26, 2019

JUST HAD THE STEERING DAMPER RECALL PERFORMED - NEVER HAD ANY WOBBLE ISSUES BEFORE COMPLETING THE RECALL. I COMPLETED THE RECALL AS I THOUGHT THAT WAS WHAT GOOD CAR OWNERS DO. NOW, JUST 3 DAYS LATER I AM EXPERIENCING THE WOBBLE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. VERY SCARY! HAD THE ENTIRE FAMILY IN THE CAR COMING HOME FROM DINNER - DID NOT HIT ANY IRREGULAR BUMPS OR ANYTHING OUT OF THE NORM. WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY ON A STRETCH WE DRIVE ALMOST DAILY AND OUT OF NOWHERE, JUST HITTING SOME "NORMAL" MICHIGAN ROAD BUMPS THE STEERING WHEEL AND FRONT END STARTED SHAKING. IT EVENTUALLY STOPPED ITSELF - BUT THEN HAPPENED 5 MORE TIMES. WE DID NOT KNOW WHAT WAS GOING ON AS WE WERE NOT AWARE OF THE ISSUE OR EVEN WHY THERE WAS A RECALL REPAIR. AFTER GETTING HOME AND SEARCHING THE INTERNET I FOUND ALL SORTS OF COMPLAINTS AND THE REASONING BEHIND THE RECALL. IRONICALLY AGAIN, I DID NOT HAVE THE ISSUE BEFORE I HAD THE RECALL WORK COMPLETED. AFTER READING THE ARTICLE I IMMEDIATELY LEFT A MESSAGE FOR MY SERVICE MANAGER AT THE DEALERSHIP AND THEN LOOKED UNDER THE JEEP TO CONFIRM THAT IN-FACT THE PART WAS REPLACED AND HAD THE CORRECT PART NUMBER. I DO WANT TO MENTION THAT EVEN BEFORE THE WOBBLE I DID MENTION TO MY WIFE AND NOTICE THAT I THOUGHT THAT THE STEERING WAS A BIT MORE "LOOSE" AFTER GETTING THE CAR BACK. NOT SURE IF THAT IS RELEVANT, BUT THOUGHT I WOULD NOTE THAT HERE AS WELL.

  21. Steering, Suspension, Oct 24, 2019

VIOLENT SHAKING OF THE FRONT END AFTER HITTING A BUMP AT APPROXIMATELY 65-75 MPH. SHAKING WILL ONLY STOP AFTER COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP. ONLY 4000 MILES ON THIS VEHICLE.

  22. Steering, Suspension, Oct 20, 2019

I EXPERIENCED RAPID STEERING OSCILLATION THIS LAST THURSDAY 10/17/19 ON MY *NEW 2018 WRANGLER JLU (NOT LIFTED) WHILE TAKING A TRIP OUT OF TOWN. WE HIT A RAILROAD TRACK AT AROUND 55 MPH AND IT WENT FULL-ON RAPID STEERING OSCILLATION (DEATH WOBBLE). HAD TO PULL OFF THE ROAD AND STOP THE VEHICLE FOR THE DW TO STOP. STOPPED BY AN OUT OF TOWN DEALER IN PASO ROBLES, CA AND THEY SAID THE RECENTLY REPLACED (RECALL V41) STEERING STABILIZER WAS INSTALLED UPSIDE DOWN. I HAVE NOW ORDERED A NEW RUBICON EXPRESS TRACK BAR AND FOX 2.0 STABILIZER TO SEE IF THIS WILL HELP ELIMINATE THE WOBBLE. I'VE OWNED TWO JK JEEP WRANGLERS IN THE PAST AND DIDN'T EXPERIENCE ANY OF OSCILLATION. *PURCHASED NEW 2018 JLU WRANGLER FROM DEALER LAST MONTH. THE MILEAGE AT THE TIME OF THE EVENT WAS APPROXIMATELY 1,400 MILES.

VIOLENT FRONT END SHAKING UPON HITTING BUMP IN ROAD. DEATH WOBBLE???? 4200 MILES ON THIS NEW VEHICLE.

  24. Steering, Suspension, Oct 18, 2019

WHEN GOING OVER A BUMP AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THE VEHICLE SOMETIMES STARTS TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY WITH THE STEERING WHEEL AND ENTIRE VEHICLE WOBBLING UNCONTROLLABLY. THE ONLY WAY TO BRING THE VEHICLE BACK UNDER CONTROL IS TO SLOW DOWN OR SOMETIMES BRING IT TO A COMPLETE STOP. THIS CREATES A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION WHEN ON THE EXPRESSWAY AND YOU HAVE TO SLOW DOWN OR STOP FROM GOING 75 MPH WITH TRAFFIC. THE DEALER HAS PUT IN TWO DIFFERENT STEERING DAMPERS AND THE PROBLEM IS STILL THERE. IT IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE ON THE HIGHWAY.

  25. Steering, Suspension, Oct 18, 2019

ON THREE OCCASIONS IN THE PAST 2 WEEKS, I EXPERIENCED A TERRIFYING VIOLENT SHAKING OF THE ENTIRE FRONT OF THE CAR WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAYS.HARROWING EVENT, THOUGHT WAS GOING TO GET INTO A HORRIBLE ACCIDENT. THIS IS A LEASE VEHICLE WITH ONLY 5500 MILES AT THE TIME THESE SCARY EVENTS TOOK PLACE.
