  1. Back over prevention, sensing system, cameraSep 12, 2024

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2018-2024 Jeep Wrangler vehicles. Dealers replaced the harness for the center brake light and rearview camera and/or the spare tire carrier/harness assembly, as necessary, free of charge. All vehicles were repaired by January 15, 2024. Owner notification letters were mailed September 26, 2024. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403. MY JEEP IS VERY DANGEROUS. THE JEEP WILL ONLY DRIVE OK IF YOU DRIVE ON A L NEWLY PAVED AND TOTALLY FLAT SURFACE. - WHEN YOU HIT A BUMP THERE IS AN EXTENDED VIBRATION, QUESTIONABLE HANDLING CHARACTERISTICS AND THE CAR LITERALLY JUMPS LANE AND MOVES SIDE TO SIDE WITHOUT HAVING ANY CONTROL OVER THE VEHICLE. IT HAPPENS EVERY TIME I DRIVE AND REPEATEDLY EACH TIME I DRIVE. THE JEEP ALSO HAS THE JEEP DEATH WOBBLE - THE CRAZY VIBRATION OF THE WHOLE CAR. BOTH ISSUES ARE WORSE AT HIGHER SPEEDS BUT WHEN IT HAPPENS YOU HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO CONTROL OVER THE CAR.. THE FRONT END VIBRATIONS TRANSITION INTO THE VEHICLE JUMPING LANES AND MOVEMENT THAT VARIES IN SEVERITY DUE TO SPEEDS. IT IS VERY SCARY AND VERY DANGEROUS. I HAVE BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND BOTH THE DEALERSHIP AND CHRYSLER'S SPECIAL REGIONAL TECH HAVE CONFIRMED THIS ISSUE. IT HAPPENS WHILE IN MOTION, ON ANY STREET, AT ANY SPEED, WHETHER DRIVING STRAIGHT OR TURNING - IT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME, AT ANY MOMENT WITH NO NOTICE. IT HAPPENS EVERY DAY YOU DRIVE THE CAR SO HARD BUT I PUT IN TODAYS DATE BC YOU ASKED FOR A DATE. IT DID HAPPEN TODAY FOR CHRYSLERS SPECIAL REGIONAL TECH TOO. IT ALSO HAPPENS AT ALL SPEEDS BUT IS WORSE AT HIGHER SPEEDS.

WHEN DRIVING AT 60 MPH ON HIGHWAY, AND CROSSING OVER A BRIDGE, THE FRONT OF THE JEEP, AND STEERING WHEEL STARTED SHAKING VERY BADLY. IT SEEMED LIKE THE FRONT END WAS GOING TO FALL APART. I HAD TO SLOW DOWN TO ABOUT 35 MPH FOR IT TO STOP. THE ROADS WERE CLEAR, BUT IT WAS BELOW FREEZING OUT.

  11. Steering, Suspension, Other or unspecified, Jan 12, 2019

DRIVING ON THE 355 TOLLWAY DRIVING 76 MPH, I WENT OVER A BRIDGE THAT HAD A SLOPE (BUMP) AND THE JEEP STARTED SHAKING VIOLENTLY. THE STEERING WHEEL WAS UNCONTROLLABLE. BEING IN THE MIDDLE LANE I HAD MANY "NEAR MISSES" OF OTHER CARS POTENTIALLY HITTING ME. I LET OFF THE GAS PEDDLE AND HAD TO PULL OVER BEFORE THE SHAKING STOPPED. BEING THE FAMILY CAR, I AM NO LONGER DRIVING IN FEAR OF AN ACCIDENT MAY OCCUR. I CONTACTED THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT BUT AM HESITANT TO DRIVE THE JEEP THERE.

  12. Steering, Suspension, Other or unspecified, Jan 3, 2019

DURING HIGHWAY DRIVING, BETWEEN 70-75 MPH, WHEN I HIT A DEFECT IN THE ROAD, THE CAR WILL BEGIN TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY. SOMETIMES IT STOPS WHEN I DECELERATE, BUT OTHER TIMES, I HAVE TO PULL OFF ON TO THE SHOULDER. MY JEEP WAS LEASED IN AUGUST 2018. I FIRST NOTICED THE SHAKING IN NOVEMBER. I HAVE ALERTED MY DEALERSHIP'S SERVICE DEPARTMENT.

2018 JEEP WRANGLER JL. FRONT END WILL SHAKE VIOLENTLY ON OCCASION WHEN GOING OVER 55 MPH- HAS HAPPENED 4 TIMES IN THE LAST WEEK. I INITIALLY THOUGHT I HAD A FLAT TIRE AND IT FEELS LIKE THE TIRES ARE GOING TO FALL OFF. IT WILL CONTINUE UNTIL VEHICLE SLOWS DOWN WHICH IS DIFFICULT TO DO ON THE HIGHWAY!! THIS IS A STOCK VEHICLE WITH ONLY 2800 MILES ON IT. I'VE SEEN OTHERS DESCRIBE IT AS A "DEATH WOBBLE" AND IT'S DEFINITELY SCARY WHEN IT HAPPENS. SEEMS LIKE OTHERS ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE AND NOTHING IS BEING DONE ABOUT IT. I'VE OWNED 6 JEEPS AND HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED THIS.

  15. Steering, Wheels, Other or unspecified, Dec 30, 2018

STEERING IS LOOSE AND UNRESPONSIVE ,JEEP WONDERS INTO LANES ON HIGHWAYS, HARD TO KEEP STRAIGHT, CONSTANT STEERING WHEEL INPUT NEEDED TO MAINTAIN A STRAIGHT LINE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, AFTER HITTING SOME PUMPS AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THE FRONT WHEELS SHAKE AND THE STEERING WHEEL OCCILATES , IN SOME CASE VILANTLY CAUSEING TEMPORARILY LOSE IN CONTROL OF JEEP. CAN TURN STEERING WHEEL SEVERAL INCHES IN BOTH DIRECTIONS WITHOUT THE WHEELS TURNING.UNKNOWN AS TO WHAT THE PROBLEM IS, I HAVE BEEN PULLED OVER BY POLICE WHO THOUGHT I WAS A DRUNK DRIVER DUE TO NOT MAINTAINING A STRAIGHT LINE. ALMOST INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT WITH MY CHILDREN IN CAR, HIT A BUMP AT HIGHWAY SPEED AND THE WHEELS SHOOK AND STEERING WHEEL OCCILATED AND COULD NOT MAINTAIN MY LANE, WAS PULLED OVER BY DRIVER IN OTHER CAR AS WE THOUGHT WE HAD STRUCK BUT LUCKILY NOT, MY DEALER HAS ALREADY REPLACED SEVARAL PARTS BUT THEY CANNOT FIX PROBLEM...STILL AT DEALER WITH NO HOPE OF BEING FIXED

  16. Steering, Suspension, Other or unspecified, Dec 29, 2018

SEVERE DEATH WOBBLE. VIOLENT SHAKING WILL NOT STOP UNLESS I PULL OVER AND COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS WHEN ON THE HIGHWAY.

  17. Other or unspecified, Dec 22, 2018

VEHICLE'S FRONT END SHAKES UNCONTROLLABLY WHEN YOU HIT A BUMP AT HIGH SPEEDS. YOU ALMOST HAVE TO STOP IN ORDER TO STOP THE SHAKING. IT HAS BEEN OCCURRING CONTINUOUSLY SINCE I GOT THE CAR. JEEP HAS ORDERED PARTS FOR THE ALLEGED REMEDY, BUT THEY ARE ON BACKORDER - WHICH MEANS A LOT OF THIS IS GOING ON.

  18. Other or unspecified, Dec 19, 2018

AFTER RUNNING MY 2018 JEEP WRANGLER SAHARA UNLIMITED JL FOR A SHORT TIME, I WOULD SHUT THE CAR OFF THEN WHEN RESTARTED FIVE MINUTES LATER, I WOULD SMELL "MAPLE SYRUP". CONSTANT PROBLEM WHEN CAR HEATED UP TO RUNNING TEMP. FAN BOX EMITTED SMELL. TOOK CAR TO DEALER. DEALER SAID POSSIBLE PIN HOLE LEAK SO THEY REPLACED THE HEATER COIL. WHEN FINISHED THEY SAID THEY COULD SEE RESIDUE WHERE IT HAD BEEN LEAKING. I CAN OCCASIONALLY SMELL THIS STILL AFTER TWO MONTHS.

  19. Other or unspecified, Dec 19, 2018

NEW 2018 WRANGLER JL SPORT WITH 1500 MILES. REPORTING THAT WHEN I RIDE OVER A BUMP, SUCH AS A TRANSITION FROM PAVEMENT TO AN OVERPASS, AT A SPEED GREATER THAN 55 OR 60 MPH, THE FRONT END VIOLENTLY SHAKES / WOBBLES AS WHAT I HEAR OTHER DESCRIBE AS A DEATH WOBBLE. THIS FORCES ME TO REDUCE SPEED TO AS LOW AS 20 MPH FOR THE WOBBLE TO CEASE. THIS HAPPENS EACH DAY AS I DRIVE THE SAME ROUTE TO WORK AND THEREFORE DRIVE OVER THE SAME OVERPASS. RELEVANT IS THAT THE BUMP WITHIN THE TRANSITION FROM PAVEMENT TO OVERPASS IS NOT WHAT I WOULD CONSIDER A SIGNIFICANT BUMP.

WHILE DRIVING AT HWY SPEEDS AND HITTING A BUMP IN THE ROAD THE FRONT RIGHT OF THE JEEP START TO WOBBLE VIOLENTLY. THE ONLY WAY TO STOP IT IS TO SLOW DOWN TO 35-40 MPR. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS TO DO IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HWY. INITIALLY FELT LIKE A FLAT TIRE. I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY CAN NOT REPLICATE THE WOBBLE AND CHECKED "EVERYTHING" THIS HAPPENED AT HIGH SPEEDS, 5 PEOPLE IN THE CAR AND DOG IN THE BAG. I AM DISAPPOINTED THAT THERE IS NOT A FIX FOR THIS ESPECIALLY IN A NEW MODEL JL. I PURCHASED BRAND NEW IN JUNE AND HAVE MADE NO MODIFICATION TO THE JEEP.IF SOMEONE WAS TO PANIC DURING THIS EVENT IT COULD BE LIFE THREATENING.

  23. Steering, Other or unspecified, Dec 12, 2018

BRAND NEW JEEP WRANGLER WOULD SHAKE VIOLENTLY WHEN HITTING A SMALL BUMP WHEN TRAVELING ON HIGHWAYS. LOOKED UP SYMPTOMS AND IT SOUNDS LIKE WHAT IS CALLED A "DEATH WOBBLE". HAD TO SLOW DOWN TO UNDER 30 MPH TO GET IT TO STOP.

  24. Other or unspecified, Dec 11, 2018

AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AN EXTREME FRONT END - STEERING VIBRATION (WOBBLE) HAS OCCURRED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS CAUSING A DANGEROUS SITUATION OF HAVING TO IMMEDIATELY SLOW DOWN ON THE HIGHWAY. I THEN MANEUVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROADWAY WHERE IT WILL RE-SET AND I CONTINUE ON. THIS CONDITION HAS OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE PAST MONTH AND TWICE YESTERDAY. MY 2018 JEEP WRANGLER HAS 4500 MILES AND I HAVE NOT MADE ANY MODIFICATIONS ON IT SINCE THE JUNE 2018 PURCHASE. WHEN THIS OCCURS THE ENTIRE JEEP SHAKES RATHER VIOLENTLY AND IS AN IMMEDIATE CONCERN AND DRIVING DISTRACTION.

  25. Steering, Other or unspecified, Dec 3, 2018

DEATH WOBBLE. BOUGHT BRAND NEW 2018 JEEP SAHARA IN JUNE. 12/1/2018 HIT A BUMPY ROAD AND WENT INTO A VIOLENT SHAKE. IT DID IT TWICE MORE LATER THAT DAY ON 12/2 IT DID THIS AGAIN. ALL AT SPEED 55-80 THE SHAKING IS SO BAD IT IS HARD TO CONTROL VEHICLE. YOUR HANDS WILL BE NUMB AFTER TRYING TO HOLD THE STEERING WHEEL.
