Recalls and investigations

  1. Fuel system, gasoline, fuel injection system, throttlebody/manifoldFeb 12, 2026

Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2024-2025 Rogue vehicles equipped with 3-cylinder 1.5L variable compression turbo (VC-Turbo) engines. The gears in the electronic throttle body assembly may break.

Broken throttle body gears can cause a loss of drive power, increasing the risk of a crash.

Dealers will reprogram the engine control module (ECM) software and inspect and replace the electronic throttle body assembly as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 8, 2026. Owners may contact Nissan's customer service at 800-647-7261. Nissan's numbers for this recall are R25E2, R25E3 and R25A9. 2. Engine and engine cooling, engine, hard parts internal/mechanicalFeb 12, 2026

Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2023-2025 Rogue vehicles equipped with 3-cylinder 1.5L variable compression turbo (VC-Turbo) engines. Increased temperatures can break down the engine oil, which may cause the engine bearings to seize and become damaged, leading to engine failure.

Engine failure can cause a loss of drive power, increasing the risk of a crash. A bearing failure may cause a breach in the engine block, allowing hot oil to be discharged, increasing the risk of an engine fire.

Dealers will reprogram the engine control module (ECM) software, inspect for diagnostic trouble codes, and test drive the vehicle, free of charge. The dealer may also inspect the oil pan for metal debris, and replace the engine if necessary. Repairs will be performed free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 8, 2026. Owners may contact Nissan's customer service at 800-647-7261. Nissan's numbers for this recall are R25E2 and R25E3. This recall expands previous NHTSA recall number 25V437. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning February 27, 2026.

  3. Engine and engine cooling, engine, hard parts internal/mechanicalJun 27, 2025

Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2021-2024 Rogue, 2019-2020 Altima, 2019-2022 Infiniti QX50, and 2022 Infiniti QX55 vehicles equipped with 3-cylinder 1.5L or 4-cylinder 2.0L variable compression turbo (VC-Turbo) engines. The engine bearings may have manufacturing defects that can lead to engine failure.

Engine failure increases the risk of a crash. A bearing failure may cause a breach in the engine block, allowing hot oil to be discharged, increasing the risk of an engine fire.

Dealers will reprogram the engine control module (ECM) software, free of charge. Owner letters were mailed April 8, 2026. Owners may contact Nissan's customer service at 800-647-7261 or Infiniti's customer service at 1-800-662-6200. Nissan's numbers for this recall are R25A8/A9 and R25B1/B2.

  4. Back over preventionOct 3, 2024

Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2024-2025 Rogue and 2025 INFINITI QX80 vehicles. A software error may cause the rearview camera to display a blank screen when the vehicle is in reverse. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, "Rear Visibility."

The loss of the rearview camera image while in reverse can reduce the driver's rear visibility, increasing the risk of a crash.

The in-vehicle infotainment software will be updated by an over-the-air (OTA) software update or by a dealer, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed December 2, 2024. Owners may contact Nissan's customer service at 800-647-7261 or INFINITI's customer service at 1-800-662-6200. Nissan's numbers for this recall are R24B3 and R24B4.

The contact owns a 2024 Nissan Rogue. While driving approximately 45 MPH, the contact’s eyes started burning, then the contact had a headache and muscle aches. The contact started feeling nauseous. The contact stated that the issue occurred every time the vehicle was driven. The contact was concerned that the air coming from the AC vents was causing the issues. Medical attention was sought twice, and the contact was diagnosed with undisclosed respiratory issues and was prescribed antibiotics, eye drops for a week, and cough medicine. The contact also missed work for a week while recovering. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that there was water in the sun visors, and that the sun visors needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the strong abnormal odor returned. The vehicle was towed to a different dealer, Flow Nissan of Fayetteville (4559 Raeford Rd, Fayetteville, NC 28304), to be diagnosed; however, the cause was not yet determined. While driving under normal conditions, I heard a sudden loud pop and the rear windshield completely shattered without any collision, debris impact, or external force. The glass failure appeared spontaneous. I have two young children and shattered glass entered the cabin, creating a serious safety hazard. I have since learned that there are multiple consumer reports of spontaneous rear hatch or rear windshield shattering in 2021–2025 Nissan Rogues. This appears to be a recurring safety defect.

  10. Structure, Dec 15, 2025

Liftgate closes while people are still behind the car. When loading/unloading items from the back of the car, the liftgate will close on you while you are still behind the car. The gate pins you between it and the rear bumper. This issue is predictable and repeatable. The dealership/Nissan has not yet confirmed this is an issue and my personal vehicle has not been inspected for this particular issue. There are no warnings of any kind prior to, during, or after this issue occurs. I bought the car brand new and the issue presented itself the very first day I owned it.
