Recalls and investigations

  1. Fuel system, gasoline, fuel injection system, throttlebody/manifoldFeb 12, 2026

Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2024-2025 Rogue vehicles equipped with 3-cylinder 1.5L variable compression turbo (VC-Turbo) engines. The gears in the electronic throttle body assembly may break.

Broken throttle body gears can cause a loss of drive power, increasing the risk of a crash.

Dealers will reprogram the engine control module (ECM) software and inspect and replace the electronic throttle body assembly as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 8, 2026. Owners may contact Nissan's customer service at 800-647-7261. Nissan's numbers for this recall are R25E2, R25E3 and R25A9. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning February 27, 2026.

  2. Engine and engine cooling, engine, hard parts internal/mechanicalFeb 12, 2026

Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2023-2025 Rogue vehicles equipped with 3-cylinder 1.5L variable compression turbo (VC-Turbo) engines. Increased temperatures can break down the engine oil, which may cause the engine bearings to seize and become damaged, leading to engine failure.

Engine failure can cause a loss of drive power, increasing the risk of a crash. A bearing failure may cause a breach in the engine block, allowing hot oil to be discharged, increasing the risk of an engine fire.

Dealers will reprogram the engine control module (ECM) software, inspect for diagnostic trouble codes, and test drive the vehicle, free of charge. The dealer may also inspect the oil pan for metal debris, and replace the engine if necessary. Repairs will be performed free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 8, 2026. Owners may contact Nissan's customer service at 800-647-7261. Nissan's numbers for this recall are R25E2 and R25E3. This recall expands previous NHTSA recall number 25V437. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning February 27, 2026.

  3. Back over preventionOct 3, 2024

Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2024-2025 Rogue and 2025 INFINITI QX80 vehicles. A software error may cause the rearview camera to display a blank screen when the vehicle is in reverse. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, "Rear Visibility."

The loss of the rearview camera image while in reverse can reduce the driver's rear visibility, increasing the risk of a crash.

The in-vehicle infotainment software will be updated by an over-the-air (OTA) software update or by a dealer, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed December 2, 2024. Owners may contact Nissan's customer service at 800-647-7261 or INFINITI's customer service at 1-800-662-6200. Nissan's numbers for this recall are R24B3 and R24B4.

While driving on the highway, the driver’s side windshield trim detached from the vehicle and became a potential road hazard that could have struck a vehicle traveling behind me. When I brought the vehicle to the dealership for inspection, I was informed that they have seen similar incidents involving this trim piece detaching from multiple vehicles.

The contact leased a 2025 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that upon pushing the button to open the hatch, the hatch would automatically come down once a person moved from under the liftgate. A beeping noise would emit from the hatch as it's coming down which resulted in the contact being hit on her head. The contact stated that failure occured while she was assisting a client who was legally blind. The contact stated that she felt dizzy immediately after incident and sat down in the vehicle to regain composure. As the contact dropped off her client, she informed them of what happened and was informed that there was a bump on the back of her head. The contact iced the bump on the back of her head and sustained a headache due to the failure. The contact did not seek medical attention. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer where the mechanic experienced the failure first hand upon inspection of the vehicle. The mechanic could not diagnose the cause of the failure and could not repair the vehicle. The contact later received a text message from the dealer that informed her that there was a recall(recall unknown) on the vehicle to address the failure; however, her vehicle's VIN was not included in the recall. My vehicle was parked in my driveway. I left my property in another vehicle and upon returning, my rear windshield was shattered. If this had happened while operating the vehicle, there would have been a high risk of injury to myself, other occupants, or other vehicles on the road. This has not yet been confirmed by Nissan, but there have been other reports and a lawsuit filed by other owners. This incident has not been inspected, as windshield replacement is fully covered by my state, it was not caused by collision or vandalism, and I need to get it repaired quickly in order to commute to work. There were no warning notifications prior to the failure.
