Latches/locks/linkages, tailgate, latchMay 9, 2019
Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2015-2017 Ram 1500, 2500 and 3500 pickup trucks equipped with an 8 foot bed and a power locking tailgate. Chrysler is also recalling all 2013-2014 and 2018 Ram 1500, 2500 and 3500 pickup trucks built before April 1, 2018 with a 6 or 8 foot bed and a power locking tailgate. On August 29, 2019 Chrysler expanded the recall to include an additional 693,128 model year 2013-2014 Ram 1500, 2500 and 3500 pickup trucks. The tailgate actuator limiter tab may fracture and cause the tailgate to unlatch and open while driving.
If the tailgate opens while the vehicle is being driven, cargo may fall out the vehicle and create a road hazard, increasing the risk of crash.
Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will repair the tailgate latch, free of charge. The recall began May 23, 2019. Chrysler is expected to notify owners of the expanded population on October 18, 2019. Owners may contact FCA US customer service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA US's number for this recall is V44. Electrical system, wiringMay 17, 2018
Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2014-2018 Dodge Journey, Charger and Durango, RAM 2500, 3500, 3500 Cab Chassis (more than 10,000lb), 4500 Cab Chassis and 5500 Cab Chassis, Jeep Cherokee and Grand Cherokee and Chrysler 300, 2014-2019 RAM 1500, 2015-2018 Dodge Challenger, 2015-2017 Chrysler 200, 2016-2018 RAM 3500 Cab Chassis (less than 10,000 lb), 2017-2018 Chrysler Pacifica and 2018 Jeep Wrangler vehicles. These vehicles are being recalled to address a defect that could prevent the cruise control system from disengaging. If, when using cruise control, there is a short circuit within the vehicle's wiring, the driver may not be able to shut off the cruise control either by depressing the brake pedal or manually turning the system off once it has been engaged, resulting in either the vehicle maintaining its current speed or possibly accelerating.
If the vehicle maintains its speed or accelerates despite attempts to deactivate the cruise control, there would be an increased risk of a crash.
Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the software, and perform a software flash on the engine or powertrain control module, free of charge. The recall began June 4, 2018. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Note: Owners are advised to stop using cruise control until the software update has been performed. In the event that cruise control cannot be disengaged while driving, owners should firmly and steadily apply the brakes and shift the transmission to neutral, placing the vehicle in park once it has stopped.

Power train, automatic transmission, lever and linkage, column shiftDec 20, 2017
Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2016-2017 Ram 3500 Cab Chassis with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) of less than 10,000 lbs, 2011-2017 Ram 3500, 4500 and 5500 Cab Chassis vehicles, 2009-2017 Ram 1500 and 2010-2017 Ram 2500 and 3500 pickup trucks, all equipped with a column shifter. Pushing the brake pedal for prolonged periods when the vehicle is running and in PARK may cause the Brake Transmission Shift Interlock (BTSI) pin to stick in the open position. With the pin in the open position, the transmission can be shifted out of PARK into any gear without pushing the brake pedal or having the key in the ignition.
Being able to shift the transmission without pushing the brake pedal and/or without a key in the ignition can increase the risk of an unintended vehicle rollaway that may result in personal injury or a crash.
Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will update the vehicle software, inspect the BTSI, and, as necessary, replace it, free of charge. The recall began February 26, 2018. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is T79.

Air bagsMay 9, 2017
Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain model year 2013-2016 Ram 1500, Ram 2500, and 2014-2016 Ram 3500 vehicles. Certain driving conditions, such as driving off-road or debris striking the vehicle may cause the roll rate sensor to trigger a fault within the Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC). If this fault occurs, the rollover side curtain air bag and the seat belt pretensioner will be disabled from deploying.
If the rollover side curtain air bags and seat belt pretensioners are disabled, there is an increased risk of injury to the vehicle occupants in the event of a crash that necessitates activation of these safety systems.
Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will update the ORC software, free of charge. The recall began June 26, 2017. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is T25.

EquipmentMay 16, 2016
Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling aftermarket Mopar Canvas Seat Covers for certain 2012-2016 RAM 1500, 2500, and 3500 trucks. These Mopar canvas seat covers were sold through Chrysler dealerships beginning October 15, 2015. The seat covers can impede the deployment of the seat thorax airbags.
If the seat cover impedes the air bag deployment, the seat thorax air bags may not provide adequate protection in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of a injury.
Chrysler will notify owners to remove the front seat covers and return them for a full refund. The recall began on July 1, 2016. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is S30.

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 Ram 1500 Quad Cab trucks manufactured August 26, 2013, to August 8, 2015. The affected vehicles are equipped with side air bag inflatable curtains (SABIC) that may not fully overlap the C-pillars in the event of a vehicle crash. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 226, "Ejection Mitigation."
In the event of a vehicle crash, if a SABIC does not inflate as intended, there is an increased risk of injury to the rear seat occupant.
Chrysler will notify owners, dealers will inspect the right and left side air bag inflatable curtains (SABIC) for proper orientation and a foil patch will be installed on both sides of the headliner. One or both of the air bag inflatable curtains (SABIC) will be replaced if necessary. The recall began on October 7, 2015. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Electrical system, 12v/24v/48v battery, cablesAug 14, 2015
Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 Ram 1500 diesel 4x2 trucks manufactured August 8, 2013, to July 2, 2015. The affected vehicles have a battery harness that may rub against the frame bracket for the right engine mount resulting in an electrical short.
If the harness shorts, the vehicle may stall and there is an increased risk of a fire.
Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the vehicles to confirm that the battery harness is correctly routed and secured. Any harness that shows evidence of wear will be replaced. These repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began on October 8, 2015. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is R43.

Equipment, electrical, radio/tape deck/cd etc.Jul 23, 2015
Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain model year 2013-2015 Ram 1500, 2500, 3500, 4500, and 5500, 2015 Chrysler 200, Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger, and Dodge Challenger, 2014-2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee, Cherokee, and Dodge Durango, and 2013-2015 Dodge Viper vehicles. The affected vehicles are equipped with radios that have software vulnerabilities that can allow third-party access to certain networked vehicle control systems.
Exploitation of the software vulnerability may result in unauthorized remote modification and control of certain vehicle systems, increasing the risk of a crash.
Chrysler will notify and mail affected owners a USB drive that includes a software update that eliminates the vulnerability, free of charge. Optionally, owners may download the update to their own USB drive from http://www.driveuconnect.com/software-update/ or take their vehicle to a Chrysler dealer for immediate installation. In an effort to mitigate the effects of this security vulnerability, Chrysler has had the wireless service provider close the open cellular connection to the vehicle that provided unauthorized access to the vehicle network. This measure may not have been implemented on all vehicles and does not address access by other means that will be remedied by the software update. The recall began on August 25, 2015. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is R40.

In the affected vehicles, the side impact sensor calibrations may be overly sensitive, and as a result, the side air bag inflatable curtains and seat air bags may unexpectedly deploy and the seat belt pre-tensioners may activate.
Air bags that unexpectedly deploy increase the risk of a crash or injury.
Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will update the Occupant Restraint Control module calibration, free of charge. The recall began on September 8, 2015. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is R23.

The affected vehicles have a steering wheel wiring harness that may rub against the driver air bag module retainer spring.
This abrasion may result in an electrical short that could cause driver's frontal air bag to unexpectedly deploy. Inadvertent deployment of the air bag may increase the risk of injury and the possibility of a vehicle crash.
Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will inspect, repair as necessary, and secure the steering wheel wiring harness. Additionally, protective caps will be added to the air bag retainer spring ends. These repairs will be done free of charge. The recall began on September 18, 2015. WHILE DRIVING TO WORK ON A SMOOTH STRAIGHT ROAD, THE EMERGENCY INFORMATION SCREEN IN MY GAUGE CLUSTER STARTED FLASHING AND STATED "SERVICE POWER STEERING" "SERVICE ELECTRONIC BRAKE SYSTEM" "SERVICE ELECTRONIC BRAKE CONTROLLER" "SERVICE TRANSMISSION" IT ALSO STATED TO NOT SHIFT TO PARK AS SHIFTING MAY BECOME INOPERABLE ONCE STOPPED. MY POWER STEERING WAS GONE, MY GAS PEDAL WAS INOPERABLE AND BRAKING WAS VERY WEAK. I HAD TO MUSCLE THE TRUCK TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND SLOWLY COME TO A STOP AND SHIFTED INTO PARK. I TURNED THE KEY FOB TO OFF AND LET IT SIT FOR A FEW MINUTES. WHEN I TRIED TO RESTART THE VEHICLE IT WOULD NOT EVEN ATTEMPT TO TURN OVER. NOW, MY KEY FOB WAS ALSO STUCK IN THE IGNITION AND WOULD NOT TURN TO THE OFF POSITION TO REMOVE THE KEY. I CALLED CHRYSLER ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE AND SAT ON HOLD FOR 55 MINUTES BEFORE THE FIRST PERSON ANSWERED THE PHONE. AFTER 10-15 MIN WE HAD A TOW TRUCK SET UP BUT THAT WOULDN'T BE THERE FOR ANOTHER 75 MINUTES. SO FROM THE TIME I CALLED TO WHEN THE TOW TRUCK ACTUALLY ARRIVED IT WAS ALMOST 2.5 HOURS! GOOD THING IT WASN'T THE MIDDLE OF WINTER. THEY REPLACED THE IGNITION MODULE. THAT WASN'T THE PROBLEM. THEN THEY THOUGHT IT WAS THE BCM. THAT DIDN'T WORK AS THEY NOW "ONLY HAVE COMMUNICATION WITH HALF OF THE VEHICLE". I'M STILL NOT SURE WHAT THAT MEANS BUT THAT'S WHERE WE ARE AT DAY 7. I DO NOT WANT THIS VEHICLE BACK. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING IT IF THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT HAS NO IDEA HOW TO PROPERLY FIX IT OR EVEN KNOW IF THEY HAVE PROPERLY FIXED IT WITH THEIR GUESS AND CHECK METHODS. IF I HAD BEEN TRAVELING AT HIGHER SPEEDS OR PULLING A TRAILER WHEN THIS HAPPENED, THE OUTCOME COULD HAVE BEEN DISASTEROUS! OR EVEN WORSE IF MY WIFE HAD BEEN DRIVING IN 4WD AND LOST POWER STEERING THERE IS NO WAY SHE COULD HAVE PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER SAFELY. HUGE SAFETY CONCERN THAT I WANT NO PART OF. THIS IS ON TOP OF THE 5+ RECALLS.

TRANSMISSION WILL SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL WHEN SLOWING DOWN TO TURN OR STOP. NECESSARY TO TURN OFF ENGINE START AND PUT INTO GEAR. THIS HAS HAPPENED 18 TIMES TO DATE. I HAVE A 4 PAGE DOCUMENT DETAILING EACH TIME, PLACE, AND OCCURANCE. IF I HAD AN ADDRESS TO SENT TO. I AM IN A SMALL TOWN SO HAVE NOR HAS ANY TRAFFIC PROBLEMS BUT IF I GO TO A LARGE CITY THIS WOULD BE BAD TO STOP AND RESTART VEHICLE IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. HAVE HAD TO DEALERS TWICE. FIRST ONE TOLD ME THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING. AND SECOND DEALER AFTER KEEPING MY VEHICLE 3 DAYS SAID HE DID NOT HAVE TIME TO LOOK AT IT. NTSB # 10748878

SINCE THIS TRUCK WAS NEW THERE HAS BEEN AN INTERMITTENT ISSUE WITH THE CONTROL PANEL GOING DEAD, OR LOSING POWER. THIS PANEL INCLUDES THE ABILITY TO CHANGE THE TRUCK INTO VARIOUS 4X4 SETTINGS AS WELL AS THE PANEL THAT CONTROLS MANY OTHER FUNCTIONS SUCH AS THE HEATED/COOLED SEATS, AIR RIDE SUSPENSION ETC. SOMETIMES THE TURNING OFF THE TRUCK AND THEN RESTARTING IT CLEARS THE ISSUE, OTHER TIMES IT DOES NOTHING. THERE ARE OTHER PEOPLE WITH THE SAME ISSUE. HTTP://WWW.RAMFORUMZ.COM/SHOWTHREAD.PHP?T=179332&HIGHLIGHT=CONTROL+PANEL THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE DUE TO NOT BEING ABLE TO ENGAGE OR DISENGAGE 4X4 WHEN NEEDED AS WELL AS BEING VERY DISTRACTING TO THE DRIVER.

I HAVE BROUGHT MY TRUCK BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP DUE TO A RATTLE IN MY STEERING WHEEL. THE RATTLE OCCURS WHEN TRAVELING FROM A STANDSTILL UP TO 30 MILES PER HOUR. THE DEALER WAS MADE AWARE OF THIS SITUATION THE WEEK THAT THE BOUGHT THE TRUCK. IT HAS BEEN BROUGHT BACK 5 TIMES, AND EACH TIME THEY ACKNOWLEDGED THAT THERE WAS AN ISSUE WITH MY STEERING SYSTEM. THEY STATED THAT THEY COULD HEAR THE RATTLE, AND WOULD FIX IT. THE FIRST 3 TIMES IT WAS BROUGHT TO THE DEALER, THEY SENT ME AWAY STATING THAT THEY CORRECTED THE ISSUE. ONCE I GOT BACK HOME, AND ENCOUNTERED BUMPY ROADS, THE RATTLE WAS STILL THERE. THE FOLLOWING 2 TIMES IT WAS AT THE DEALERSHIP, THEY SENT ME AWAY STATING THAT THEY WOULD NOT WORK ON MY VEHICLE ANY FURTHER BECAUSE THEY DID NOT KNOW WHAT WAS CAUSING THE RATTLE. THEY HAVE RESEATED BOTH THE PASSENGER SIDE AND DRIVERS SIDE AIR BAGS, THEY TIGHTENED A WIRE HARNESS ON MY STEERING COLUMN, THEN THEY REPLACED MY STEERING COLUMN COUPLING, AND FINALLY THEY REPLACED THE ENTIRE STEERING COLUMN. THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THEY ARE TRYING TO FIX. THEY STATED TO ME THAT THE KNOW THERE IS AN ISSUE, BUT DO NOT KNOW WHAT IS CAUSING IT. THIS ISSUE COULD VERY WELL BE A SAFETY ISSUE, AS IT HAS TO DO WITH MY STEERING SYSTEM. MY VEHICLE HAS 5000 MILES ON IT, AND HAS BEEN BACK TO THE DEALER SHIP 5 TIMES. I HAVE OWNED THE VEHICLE FOR 5 MONTHS.

WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE HOME FROM, AFTER HITTING THE SPEED LIMIT OF 65, THE VEHICLE STARTED TO SHIMMY, SIDE TO SIDE, AND CONTINUED AT A HIGHER SPEED. I CALLED THE DEALER, AND RETURNED THE TRUCK TO HAVE IT SERVICED, BUT IT DID NOT HELP. I WAS TOLD IT WAS FLAT SPOTS ON THE TIRES, AND TO GIVE IT SOME TIME. AFTER ALMOST 4000 MILES, AND 4 VISITS BACK FOR SERVICE, I WAS TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. ALL THE TRUCKS RIDE THE SAME. AFTER FURTHER INVESTIGATION, I FOUND OUT THROUGH VARIOUS FORUMS, THAT A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM, AND IF THE TIRES ARE CHANGED OUT, THE PROBLEM WILL GO AWAY. THE DEALER REFUSED TO CHANGE OUT THE TIRES. THE TIRES IN QUESTION ARE GOODYEAR WRANGLER SR-A, SIZE P275/60R20.

OUR '14 RAM 1500 WAS BOUGHT NEW ON 6/22/15. ON 8/9/15 OUR NEW 2014 DODGE RAM WAS PARKED ON A INCLINE IN A FRIENDS DRIVEWAY. MY WIFE AND SON GOT IN THE TRUCK, STARTED IT AND PUT IT INTO REVERSE TO LEAVE. AFTER MOVING ONLY A FEW FEET MY WIFE NOTICED THE HOSTESS COMING DOWN THE DRIVE TO SAY GOODBYE. SHE PLACED THE TRUCK IN PARK, GOT OUT OF THE VEHICLE LEAVING THE DOOR OPEN AND WALKED TO THE FRONT OF THE TRUCK. WHILE GIVING THE HOSTESS A HUG, HOSTESS EXCLAIMED YOUR TRUCK IS ROLLING AWAY. MY WIFE TRIED TO RUN BACK AND AROUND THE DOOR TO GET IN THE VEHICLE. BEFORE SHE COULD, THE OPEN DOOR TOOK DOWN TWO MAILBOXES AND 4X4 TIMBER POSTS THEY WERE MOUNTED ON AND OPENED THE DOOR BEYOND THE SPRING LIMIT PUSHING INTO THE FRONT FENDER AND POPPING OUT THE FRONT HEAD LIGHT. THE TRUCK ROLLED ACROSS THE STREET INTO THE NEIGHBORS YARD HITTING A POWER POLL WHERE IT CAME TO STOP. THE IMPACT TO THE POLL WAS STRONG ENOUGH TO PULL DOWN POWER LINES. UPON REACHING THE VEHICLE A MALE GUEST NOTED THE VEHICLE WAS STILL IN PARK. MY 9 YEAR OLD WAS STILL STRAPPED INTO HIS SEAT BELT AND SIGNIFICANTLY SHAKEN UP THOUGH NOT INJURED. THE POLICE AND UTILITY COMPANY ARRIVED. THE OFFICER WROTE HIS REPORT UP AS VEHICLE MALFUNCTION. THE TOW TRUCK OPERATOR SAID THE VEHICLE COULD BE DRIVEN IN ITS CONDITION. HE PULLED BACK THE DOOR TO AS CLOSE TO CLOSED AS POSSIBLE AND TIED CLOSED. THE REAR BUMPER AND TAILGATE ARE TRASHED. INSURANCE ADJUSTER HAS GIVEN PRELIMINARY ESTIMATE OF $8,900. THE POWER COMPANY HAS NOT CONTACTED US YET ABOUT THEIR SERVICE CALL. I GUESS VERY FORTUNATE THAT MY WIFE DID NOT MAKE IT AROUND THE DOOR AS SHE COULD HAVE BEEN CRUSHED BETWEEN THE DOOR AND TWO MAILBOXES. ALSO THANKFUL THE THE TRUCK WENT STRAIGHT ACROSS THE STREET RATHER THAN TURNING AND GOING DOWN A LONG HILL. HAVE CONTACTED RAM AND WAS PROMISED AN INVESTIGATOR WOULD BE IN TOUCH WITHIN 3 DAYS. 4TH DAY AND STILL NO CONTACT!

WHILE NO ACCIDENT HAS OCCURRED, IN MY OPINION THIS IS A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY ISSUE. THE UCONNECT SYSTEM EITHER BECOMES DISCONNECTED OR HAS A POOR RECEPTION WHILE DRIVING. IT IS VERY INCONSISTENT IN THE WAY IT PERFORMS. IT CREATES A SAFETY PROBLEM BECAUSE WHEN THIS OCCURS YOU NATURALLY ATTEMPT TO EITHER RECONNECT OR DISCONNECT FROM THE SYSTEM CREATING A SIGNIFICANT DISTRACTION. ATTEMPTS BY THE DEALER TO FIX THE PROBLEM HAVE BEEN UNSUCCESSFUL.

I HAVE HAD 16 INCIDENTS WITH MY 2014 RAM 1500, VIN# [XXX]. EQUIPPED WITH AN EIGHT-SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. WHEN I SLOWED DOWN FOR A STOP TO TURN RIGHT, THE TRANSMISSION WENT INTO NEUTRAL AND THE TRUCK COASTED DOWN TO A STOP. THE TRANSMISSION KNOB WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF DRIVE AND THE TRANSMISSION STAYED IN NEUTRAL. WHEN I STOPPED AND TURNED OFF MOTOR, I COULD TURN TRANSMISSION SHIFTER TO PARK, START TRUCK AND SHIFT INTO DRIVE. THIS HAPPENED ABOUT 5 WEEKS APART. BOTH TIMES I WAS ON A CITY STREET AND IT WAS NOT A TRAFFIC PROBLEM. CURRENT MILEAGE 7455. I CALLED MY DEALER AND HE SAID HE HAD NOT HEARD OF THIS PROBLEM, AND SAID IF IT HAPPENED AGAIN TO HAVE TO TOWED TO HIM. I LIVE 150 MILES FROM HIM. MY CLOSEST DEALER IS 60 MILES. THIS IS STILL HAPPENING ALMOST MONTHLY. I HAVE DATES AND TIMES I CAN SEND. DON'T HAVE ROOM IN THIS FORM FOR COMPLETE COMPLAINT INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR

HAVE A 2014 RAM 1500 BLACK EXPRESS WITH 8 SPEED TRANSMISSION. THE TRUCK DOWNSHIFTS VERY HARD WHEN SLOWING AND SEEMS TO HESITATE BEFORE UPSHIFTING RANDOMLY. THE TRANSMISSION ALSO MAKES A GRINDING NOISE AT IDLE AND A METALLIC CLANK ON ACCELERATION. THE DEALER TOLD ME THIS WAS NORMAL. THAT'S FUNNY BECAUSE IT WENT 9000 MILES WITHOUT DOING IT. I HAVE CONTACTED CHRYSLER CARE TO NO EFFECT AND THE DEALER WONT EVEN LOOK AT THE TRANNY UNTIL IT THROWS CODES. I AM SO MAD.
