Power steering module failed ,loss of steering.part was retained by dealer doing repair. The part has been repaired. The part has not been inspected by anyone other than the dealer doing the repair. The warning light only appeared at time of failure. The incident definitely occurred due to faulty power steering module, this was determined by the repairing dealership.

  3. Steering, Jul 28, 2025

The Electronic Power Steering unit cut out intermittently causing loss of power steering. While the rest of the vehicle operates properly, the loss of power assist makes it difficult to maneuver the vehicle. I took the vehicle to the Ram dealership in Martinsburg, WV. There, the mechanic assessed the gear rack for the power steering needed to be replace at an estimated cost of ~$4,300. The power steering warning light it lit when it is in the failure mode. FRONT FUEL TANK STRAP RUSTED AND BROKE. LUCKILY TRUCK WAS AT HOME WHEN I NOTICED THIS PROBLEM. FRONT OF TANK IS ONLY INCHES FROM THE GROUND AND COULD PRESENT A MAJOR HAZARD IF I CONTINUED TO OPERATE THIS VEHICLE.

  5. Steering, Jul 25, 2025

I was driving my truck and my power steering went out. I had very little steering and almost ran into a cement wall. My steering wheel will barely turn. I got it to a mechanic, and I was told I need an entire new steering rack. Part number 68628858AA. I had zero notification that this was going to happen. It was driving fine. This is almost $4000 to fix. I only have 68,000 miles on my truck. This part needs to be recalled on 2014 Rams. After some research there are several cases of this exact issue. It won't let me download my receipts

  6. Service brakes, Hydraulic, Jul 24, 2025

The ABS control module failed on my 2014 Ram 1500 and is no longer available from Mopar. The part (68228991AD) is discontinued or on indefinite backorder. This disables a federally required safety system (ABS and electronic stability control). Dealerships will not install used parts, and there is no OEM solution. This renders the vehicle unsafe to operate and poses a risk to me and others on the road. Dodge/Stellantis needs to provide a solution or replacement. I’m requesting NHTSA investigation and recall if necessary.

Driving under normal conditions, truck had been running perfectly for the 3 months I owned it. Coming down a hill on the freeway, lights started blinking on the dash, then making a knocking noise, lost pressure (all control) of gas pedal, then white smoke from drivers side, then grey smoke, then completely engulfed in flames within 5 minutes of dash blinking. Complete loss of engine bay

  12. Other or unspecified, Fuel/propulsion system, Jul 12, 2025

The fuel pump in the 2014 Dodge Ram 1500 Longhorn Lemaire overheats while driving with less than a quarter tank of petrol. Stalling during acceleration, prolonged cranking durations prior to ignition, and abrupt power loss at highway velocities causes significant warning signs. Engine surges at times and cause irregular idling. Whining and buzzing sounds emanating from the fuel tank region. Decreased fuel efficiency without justification. The check engine light is illuminated with fuel pressure-related codes (P0087, P0190). Research indicates that 4th generation Rams (2009-2018) frequently experience failures owing to inadequate factory pumps and issues with the TIPM (Totally Integrated Power Module) relay. The fifth-generation vehicles (2019 and beyond) exhibit a reduction in failures; nonetheless, they remain susceptible to contamination from degraded plastic tanks when ethanol-blended gasoline is utilized over extended periods, and pressure below requirements indicates pump failure.

  13. Steering, Jul 11, 2025

The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while his son was driving at an undisclosed speed, the steering wheel became stiff and was difficult to turn to the left or the right. No warning light was illuminated. The local dealer was contacted, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 180,000.

  14. Engine, Jul 10, 2025

this vehicle is equipped with 3.0 litre ecodiesel. truck has been in for numerous recalls--no problem. i have spoken to numerous buyers of these trucks with this engine and virtually everyone has replaced engine once or sometimes twice. i needed to replace toner wheel behind flywheel a couple weeks ago. this was a 1200.00 fix. stellantis's fix was to reprogram ecu so engine would not fail on highway but did not address the root cause of the problem. i find it appalling that stellantis has not been forced to extend the warranty on these engines since every customer paid extra for the longevity of diesel power. i am afraid to drive this truck since there are probably 2-3 rams every week on facebook marketplace locally with seized engines. this truck has 135000 miles and i am afraid the end is near.

The local dealer was contacted; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact was informed that the VIN was not under recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 146,000.

  19. Vehicle speed control, Other or unspecified, Service brakes, Jul 2, 2025

Anti-Lock Brake Module Internal Failure, error code C2200--49. This ABS failure also takes out the following safety features, anti-lock braking, traction control, trailer towing brake controller, and cruise control. As a result I do not have these safety features, and I tow a 10,000 lb rated trailer that required that the OEM factory brake controller works. A new module is $1200 plus, however there are NONE to be found. It has been on National Back Order for several years, and affects many year models. Failure at first was intermittent and worked during cold weather, but once up to 70 degrees or above it failed consistently, then finally failed permanently. l Intermittent Failure was real risk when towing, as you could not depend on system working in case of emergency.

  20. Steering, Jun 27, 2025

I started my 2014 Dodge Ram 1500 and began to drive it. Without any prior warnings, my power steering went out. Fortunately, I had not made it to a major road to put any others in danger by not being able to maneuver the vehicle or driving down the highway and possibly wrecking the truck. At this time, I'm currently looking for a mechanic that can assess the damage but was saddened to see how there have been recalls for the electronic power steering system on 2015 and 2016 Dodge Rams but NOT the 2014 when so many others have experienced the same difficulties.

  22. Steering, Jun 20, 2025

Our power steering has stopped working and there was a recall on Ram 1500 models for this defect but not for the 2014 which has the same steering component. We would like the 2014 model and any model that has the same defective steering to be included. This is a very expensive fix and very dangerous to operate like this

  23. Fuel/propulsion system, Jun 19, 2025

We were driving down the highway and heard a weird grinding type noise. We pulled right over to check what was wrong and noticed the fuel tank strap mount had broken apart at the frame from corrosion. Causing it to rest against the driveshaft and creating a deep groove in the driveshaft its self .

  24. Service brakes, Jun 17, 2025

ABS module for 2014-2016 Ram 1500 5.7l is (and has been) on ‘indefinite back order’. I researched and found that I am far from unique when it comes to this assembly. The ABS module failure also causes issues with traction control. Due to lack of parts, and high cost of repair, I was concerned with the safety of this truck. Over the last week, I was forced to trade in the truck.

  25. Fuel system, Gasoline, Jun 17, 2025

The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while attempting to start the vehicle, the vehicle failed to start, and the ignition would continue to turn. The contact stated that several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to a local dealer, where the vehicle was diagnosed, and the contact was informed that the fuel system was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the dealer notified the contact of a misdiagnosis and the crank case ventilation system and the body control module were damaged in the process of repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 142,399.
