  6. Electrical system, wiringMay 17, 2018

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2014-2018 Dodge Journey, Charger and Durango, RAM 2500, 3500, 3500 Cab Chassis (more than 10,000lb), 4500 Cab Chassis and 5500 Cab Chassis, Jeep Cherokee and Grand Cherokee and Chrysler 300, 2014-2019 RAM 1500, 2015-2018 Dodge Challenger, 2015-2017 Chrysler 200, 2016-2018 RAM 3500 Cab Chassis (less than 10,000 lb), 2017-2018 Chrysler Pacifica and 2018 Jeep Wrangler vehicles. These vehicles are being recalled to address a defect that could prevent the cruise control system from disengaging. If, when using cruise control, there is a short circuit within the vehicle's wiring, the driver may not be able to shut off the cruise control either by depressing the brake pedal or manually turning the system off once it has been engaged, resulting in either the vehicle maintaining its current speed or possibly accelerating.

If the vehicle maintains its speed or accelerates despite attempts to deactivate the cruise control, there would be an increased risk of a crash.

Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the software, and perform a software flash on the engine or powertrain control module, free of charge. The recall began June 4, 2018. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Note: Owners are advised to stop using cruise control until the software update has been performed. 7. Power train, automatic transmission, lever and linkage, column shiftDec 20, 2017

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2016-2017 Ram 3500 Cab Chassis with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) of less than 10,000 lbs, 2011-2017 Ram 3500, 4500 and 5500 Cab Chassis vehicles, 2009-2017 Ram 1500 and 2010-2017 Ram 2500 and 3500 pickup trucks, all equipped with a column shifter. Pushing the brake pedal for prolonged periods when the vehicle is running and in PARK may cause the Brake Transmission Shift Interlock (BTSI) pin to stick in the open position. With the pin in the open position, the transmission can be shifted out of PARK into any gear without pushing the brake pedal or having the key in the ignition.

Being able to shift the transmission without pushing the brake pedal and/or without a key in the ignition can increase the risk of an unintended vehicle rollaway that may result in personal injury or a crash.

Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will update the vehicle software, inspect the BTSI, and, as necessary, replace it, free of charge. The recall began February 26, 2018. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is T79.

  1. Electrical system, Vehicle speed control, Service brakes, Jun 14, 2025

I purchased This truck new in 2014 and have had very few problems with it, but now the ABS module is defective which affects the brakes, traction control, cruise, with all lights on. In driving the vehicle under wet roads it has gone out of control and is dangerous. Ram has told me that the parts are back ordered and recently gave me incorrect information as to the extent of this parts problem. I paid over 50k for this vehicle to keep in my older years and I do not want to have to change now . This is a real problem that could get someone hurt or killed. They say it is not a recall issue but there are thousands of these parts needed and Ram seems to [XXX]. I don't usually voice a complain but this hits home to me. 2. Fuel system, Gasoline, Electrical system, Exterior lighting, Jun 9, 2025

The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact stated that after starting the vehicle, the brake lights remained illuminated. The brake and several other unknown warning lights were illuminated. Additionally, the fuel gauge failed to display the correct fuel level, and the cruise control was inoperable. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who determined that the electrical system had failed, but the contact was unaware of what repairs were needed. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

  3. Service brakes, Jun 9, 2025

The BRAKE, and and traction control module all illumated at the same time and stay on. The screen on the dash also says service anti lock brake system so I had it put on a code reader and it says the problem is the abs control module

  4. Vehicle speed control, Service brakes, Forward collision avoidance, Jun 8, 2025

The ABS, Traction Control, Trailer Breaking lights are on also impacting Adaptive Cruise Control making them all inoperable, even though the truck is still able to be drive, albeit unsafely. I took it to my local repair shop and was told the ABS Controle Module, part number 68228991AD was identified as bad and in need of replacing at approximately $2000 and that the part is on indefinite backorder. I tried to locate the part on my own and there is in fact a nationwide backorder. After further investigation, I found multiple owners on Ram forums either having or have had the same problems. On one parts website, I found this message regarding the part: PART ON HOLD UNTIL ENGINEERING REVIEW IS COMPLETE, EXP - MAR 20TH, 2025. Located at: [XXX] This is not just an issue with 2014 Ram trucks, but extends to other model years using the same part number. This is a huge safety issue that should be addressed through a recall and the NHTSB has the power to right this wrong. Stellantis is doing what large corporations do and protecting their bottom line at the expense of putting customers' safety at risk. The abs module for this vehicle has failed and is a major safety hazard. A known issue that has been on going with this particular part for years. I myself have waited over 6 months with a lemon of a truck because the part is on back order. We have called multiple dealerships and their response has been, “the part is on manufacturing review. “ No recall for this specific part has been issued and no dealership/insurance or Chrysler themselves have not provided us or any others with a solution.

    LOSS OF STEERING

  7. Steering, Jun 3, 2025

Vehicle is a 2014 Ram 1500 with electric rack and pinion steering. The truck has 96XXX miles on it. When starting the truck the "service power steering" warning comes on in the info center and truck does not have power steering and is very difficult to turn. There have been times that the steering warning lamp is on on startup (different than the "service power steering" warning) and the steering doesn't work . This is a widespread issue with this model of truck. After trouble shooting it has been determined the electronic module is bad and it is $4200.00 to replace at the dealer. There was a limited recall on the 2016 models for the same problem but for a very limited number of trucks. This is an ongoing issue for these trucks. It's not a mater of if they fail it is a matter of when. Most of the reports I have read is that they fail between 60- 100K miles. This is Very dangerous if it fails when driving. Since this has been not recalled the problem doesn't show up on a carfax or any other car reports so you have no idea this is a thing until it happens to you.

  8. Steering, Jun 2, 2025

Power steering quit working while I was driving without warning. I have replaced the battery and tried numerous solutions and they have not resulted in fixing the power steering. Outside of replacing the entire rack, I have run out of options. My fear is that if I had been with my children, driving on a winding road, or otherwise, this error could have cost me thousands of dollars or totaled the vehicle and/or caused innumerable cost of damage to property or other vehicles and people. Without a resolution, the vehicle is rendered inoperable. According to the Mooar website [XXX] ) cost to replace has been estimated to be between $3105.00-$3870.00 before adding the service fees. This is a vehicle that our family of five needs. It is also something that is too costly to repair and we cannot trade it in or sell it for any real value. This issue is a safety concern that should be addressed of the highest concern. Other 2014 Ram 1500’s have been recalled due to concerns regarding the power steering; however, our vehicle was not given a recall. [XXX] ). I feel that this defect is extremely dangerous. Without warning, the power steering will intermittently stop working. Trying the truck off and waiting sometimes solves the issue but that isn’t always the case and expecting customers to drive a vehicle that has a defect that is a hazard, is irresponsible and has already cost our family money that we have needed for other expenses. Thank you for allowing me to contact you and I look forward to hearing from you with a solution to this problem. I turn the truck on to leave said place, put the truck in reverse, try to turn steering wheel and it wouldn’t turn. Then a steering wheel light comes on with an ! Exclamation point. I start looking up issues on rack and pinion steering issues for the Vin number. That shows that a lot of people have been having the same issues so I take my truck to the dealership after calling and confirming that there was a recall, and after running their test or whatever now they’re saying that there is no recall so here I am filing report because I need there to be a recall on this. 23. Service brakes, May 7, 2025

The ABS system on the truck goes out which causes the truck to have no breaks. ABS module is faulty, your wheels may start locking, leading to a loss of traction. This could be especially dangerous in wet conditions, as it increases the risk of skidding. Another issue is there is no replacement parts avaible to fix this issue, truck owns now have vehicles that now is a ticking time bomb. Ram needs to fix this issue ASAP!! Dealership are saying they have no idea of when replacement parts will be available.

Electric Power Steering goes out intermittently. Common issue with these trucks. I believe the recall needs to be expanded. Doubtful I'll waste money fixing it myself. May just have to shop around for a new GM or Ford since Ram is no longer American owned.
