I PURCHASED A 2017 FORD EXPLORER LIMITED SUV AT THE WINNIPEG,CANADA FORD 4S (MID-TOWN FORD SALES LIMITED ) IN JULY 2017. TIRE MODEL: 255/50R20 105H VENTUS S1 NOBLE 2. IT WAS FOUND THAT THE FOUR TIRES ABRASION MORE SERIOUS THAN OTHER VEHICLES UNDER NORMAL USE. IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE FOUR TIRES OF THE CAR HAD DIFFERENT PEELING SKIN PHENOMENA, AND THE TIRES HAD A SLOW LEAKING AIR PHENOMENON IN JULY 2019. AFTER THAT, I NEED TO REPLENISH THE AIR OF TIRES 2-3 DAYS REGULARLY IN ORDER TO KEEP THE TIRE PRESSURE. I CONTACTED THE MID-TOWN FORD SALES WHERE WE BOUGHT THE CAR AFTER DISCOVERING THIS PROBLEM, UNFORTUNATELY, THEY SAID THAT THEY ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE TIRE, AND LET ME CONTACT HANKOOK TIRE MANUFACTURERS TO FEEDBACK THE PROBLEM BY MYSELF. I HAVE TRIED TO CALL THE HANKOOK CUSTOMER SERVICE SEVERAL TIMES FROM JULY, BUT THERE IS NOBODY ANSWERS. I ASKED THE LOCAL HANKOOK DEALERS IN WINNIPEG, THEY TOLD ME THAT I CAN ONLY GET FEEDBACK WITH HANKOOK HEADQUARTERS. NOW I FEEL THAT THE SKIN PEELING OF TIRES ARE GETTING MORE AND MORE SERIOUS WHEN DRIVING EVERY DAY. I AM WORRIED THAT THE TIRE WOULD BE BURST EVERY TIME WHEN I AM DRIVING. I SEARCHED ON THE INTERNET THAT THE TIRE HAD BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS FOR A LONG TIME. NHTSA ID NUMBER: 10127409 SSM: 46905. I DON'T KNOW WHY I HAVE NEVER RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FROM FORD. WHEN I WENT TO FORD 4S(MID TOWN FOR SALES), THEY SAID THAT THEY DID NOT HAVE ANY CLUE, THEY DID NOT ANYTHING ABOUT THIS ISSUE, AND ASK ME TO I CONTACT HANKOOK, BUT THEY DID NOT GIVE ME ANY CONTACT INFORMATION FOR THE HANKOOK. THERE IS NO CLEAR CUSTOMER SERVICE PHONE ON HANKOOK OFFICIAL WEBSITE. I AM SO DISAPPOINTED AND I DON'T KNOW HOW TO SOLVE THIS PROBLEM.

ON 09/11/2019, AT APPROXIMATELY 6PM, WE WERE TRAVELING NORTH ON WV SR2 NORTH APPROXIMATELY 2.5 TO 3.0 MILES NORTH OF THE SR2 I-77 INTERCHANGE. 2017 FORD EXPLORER WAS STOPPED, WAITING ON OPPOSING TRAFFIC TO CLEAR, IN ORDER TO MAKE A LEFT HAND TURN INTO THE PARKING LOT OF CHURCH. VEHICLE WAS REAR-ENDED BY A DODGE DAKOTA PICKUP TRUCK IMPACTING SLIGHTLY OFF CENTER TOWARDS THE DRIVER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THERE WERE 4 OCCUPANTS OF THE EXPLORER. THE DRIVER WAS A 39 YEAR OLD MALE. THE FRONT PASSENGER WAS A 36 YEAR OLD FEMALE. IN THE SECOND ROW WERE THE OTHER 2 PASSENGERS. ON THE DRIVERS SIDE WAS A 4 YEAR OLD FEMALE, FORWARD FACING IN A GRACO EXTEND2FIT CAR SEAT. THE PASSENGER SIDE WAS OCCUPIED BY A 7 YEAR OLD MALE IN AN EVENFLO BOOSTER SEAT. ALL PASSENGERS WERE WEARING APPROPRIATE RESTRAINING DEVICES. ALL PASSENGERS WERE SHAKEN UP, WITH EXTERNAL INJURIES TO BOTH DRIVERS SIDE OCCUPANTS. THE PROXIMATE CAUSE OF THE INJURIES WAS DUE TO FAILURE OF THE DRIVER'S SEAT. THE SEAT BASE EXPERIENCED A FAILURE CAUSING THE SEAT BACK TO FALL BACK ONTO THE 2ND ROW PASSENGER, STRIKING THE PASSENGER, AND THE HEADREST BENT AND PARTIALLY DETACHED. PRIOR TO THE ACCIDENT, THE SEAT BACK WAS FULLY UPRIGHT AND THE SEAT WAS RESTING UPON THE LEGS OF THE JUVENILE FEMALE AFTER IMPACT. SHE SUFFERED CONTUSIONS TO HER LEGS FROM THE SEAT IMPACTING HER AND SHE SUFFERED A CONCUSSION AND LACERATION (REQUIRING 9 EXTERNAL SUTURES AS WELL AS SOME INTERNAL ONES) ABOVE HER RIGHT EYE, CAUSED BY EITHER THE HEAD OF THE DRIVER OR POSSIBLY THE HEADREST. THE DRIVER OF THE VEHICLE SUFFERED A LACERATION TO THE CROWN OF HIS HEAD REQUIRING 9 STAPLES TO CLOSE. THE DRIVER AND THE JUVENILE FEMALE WERE TRANSPORTED TO MARIETTA MEMORIAL HOSPITAL IN MARIETTA OH WHERE THEY RECEIVED TREATMENT AND WERE RELEASED. INTERMITTENT STEERING BINDING CONDITION AT SLOW TURNS MAINLY DURING HOT WEATHER. THIS BINDING ISSUE WAS DIFFICULT TO RECREATE AND EVENTUALLY THE DEALER WAS ABLE TO CREATE THIS AFTER A LENGTHY (30 MINUTE) ROAD TEST IN 80+ DEGREE WEATHER. THE BINDING ISSUE WAS A RESULT OF AN INTERNAL STEERING GEAR FAILURE. THE PART # HB5Z-3504-Z WAS FINALLY REPLACED THIS YEAR AFTER WE HAD THE VEHICLE IN TO THE DEALER MULTIPLE TIMES SINCE LATE 2017 WHEN THE VEHICLE HAD APPROXIMATELY 25,000 MILES ON IT. VEHICLE NOW HAS 67,000 MILES. THE BINDING ISSUE OCCURRED AT SPEEDS RANGING MAINLY BETWEEN 40 MPH TO 75 MPH WITH AND WITHOUT DRIVING ASSISTANCE FEATURES ENABLED. BINDING ISSUE OCCURRED BOTH TO THE LEFT AND RIGHT DIRECTIONS ON GRADUAL TURNS OR WHEN CHANGING LANES ON THE HIGHWAY AT HIGHER SPEEDS. THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD STICK IN THE TURNED POSITION AND NOT RETURN TO THE CENTER ON ITS OWN UNLESS TUGGED OUT OF WHAT FELT LIKE A DETENT (NOTCH). THIS TOOK A LONG TIME TO GET IT FIXED BECAUSE THE DEALERSHIP WOULD NOT WORK ON THE CAR SINCE THEY COULD NOT RE-CREATE THE PROBLEM ON SHORT TEST DRIVES. THE INTERMITTENT NATURE OF THE STEERING ISSUE AND NEED FOR LONGER DRIVES AND HOT WEATHER CONDITIONS MADE IT DIFFICULT TO RECREATE.

THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE SEATBELT BUCKLE ASSEMBLY BROKE WHEN MY PASSENGER WAS ATTEMPTING TO BUCKLE HERSELF. A SPRING POPPED OUT OF THE CENTER SEATBELT MECHANISM AND THE SEATBELT WOULD NO LONGER LATCH. THE CAR WAS PARKED AND OFF AT THE TIME. WE BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE DEALER FOR THE SEATBELT TO BE FIXED. THE PART # FOR THE SEATBELT BUCKLE ASSEMBLY IS DB5Z-7860044-EB. THIS PART WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY DUE TO THE MILEAGE AND WAS NOT CONSIDERED A COVERED PART ON OUR EXTENDED WARRANTY. THE REGIONAL SERVICE MANAGER INFORMED ME THAT THIS WAS CONSIDERED NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR ON OUR VEHICLE WHICH IS ONLY 2 YEARS OLD.

THE VEHICLE IN QUESTION IS A 2017 FORD EXPLORER WITH HANKOOK VENTUS S1NOBLE2 FRONT TIRES THAT ARE SHREDDING BOTH ON THE INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR PARAMETER OF THE TIRES. THE DELAMINATION IS MIGRATING TOWARDS THE CENTER OF THE TIRE AS WELL WITH FLAPS AND CHUNKS OF RUBBER SOME OVER 10MM ARE SEPARATING FROM THE SUBSTRATE. THE TIRES ONLY HAVE 27,000 MILES ON THEM AND LOOK LIKE THEY HAVE 50,000+. I HAVE NEVER SEEN A VULCANIZATION PROBLEM LIKE THIS IN MY CAREER. THERE IS CLEARLY SOMETHING WRONG WITH THIS RUBBER COMPOUND REMINISCENT OF THE FORD FIRESTONE DEBACLE. THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE AND THE DEALER SEAMS TO BE INEFFECTIVE IN GETTING A CORRECTIVE ACTION IN PLACE. THE DEALER IS SKALNEK FORD IN LAKE ORION, MI AND WAS NOTIFIED ON SATURDAY AUGUST 17TH WHEN I WAS INFORMED THAT I WOULD NEED TO BRING MY CAR BACK ON MONDAY AUGUST 19TH AT WHICH TIME THEY WOULD FIX THE VEHICLE. I HAVE SINCE RETURNED FROM THE DEALER WITH THE REPAIR NOT COMPLETED AS THE DEALER IS WAITING FOR HANKOOK TO RESPOND BACK TO THEM WITH THE REPAIR AUTHORIZATION. AS OF THIS COMPLAINT THE DEALER SAID FORD WOULD NOT COVER THE ISSUE AS IT IS OUT OF THE 12/12 WARRANTY PERIOD FOR THE TIRES, AND THEY ARE NOT SURE IF OR WHEN HANKOOK WOULD RESPOND. ON A SEPARATE NOTE WHEN I WAS IN THE SERVICE AREA OF THE DEALER ANOTHER CUSTOMER WHICH ALSO HAPPENED TO BE AN ENGINEER SAID HE HAD THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM WITH HIS VEHICLE AND REPLACED AT HIS EXPENSE ALL 4 TIRES WITH ANOTHER BRAND. IN SHORT THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED INCIDENT AND COULD IN FACT PUT CONSUMERS AT RISK. MY WIFE ONLY DISCOVERED THE ISSUE BECAUSE SHE TOOK THE CAR IN FOR A POTENTIAL TRADE-IN AND THE DEALER ALERTED HER TO THE ISSUE OF THURSDAY THE 15TH OF AUGUST.

FOR 2 YEARS PASSENGERS WERE GETTING PHYSICALLY ILL WHEN RIDING IN VEHICLE. KNOWN ISSUE WITH CARBON MONOXIDE LEAK WAS BROUGHT TO FORD'S ATTENTION IN 2018. CAR WAS REPAIRED WITH FORD'S PRESCRIBED FIX OPTIONS. CONTINUED ILLNESS PROMPTED LOCAL FORD DEALER TO RUN THEIR OWN HVAC TEST FOR CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING IN THE CABIN. MULTIPLE LEAKS WERE NOTED BY THE FORD DEALER AND ENTIRE EXHAUST SYSTEM WAS REPLACED. THE FORD DEALER THEN BROUGHT IN AND INDEPENDENT HVAC COMPANY TO TEST FOR CARBON MONOXIDE LEAKS AFTER REPAIRS. THE REPORT INDICATED 12 PPM IN THE CABIN OF CARBON MONOXIDE. ANOTHER TEST WAS DONE ON ANOTHER 2015 FORD EXPLORER AS A BASELINE, AND READING REPORTED 0 PPM. FORD DEALER CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER TO DISCUSS OPTIONS FOR THE VEHICLE BECAUSE THE INCIDENCE OF CARBON MONOXIDE WAS STILL OCCURRING. WE REQUESTED FORD PURCHASE BACK THE VEHICLE AS IT IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AFTER HAVING MULTIPLE MEDICAL TESTS DONE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. FORD HAS OUR FILED COMPLAINT BUT AS OF NOW THERE IS NO RESOLUTION.

AT AROUND 35,800 MILES, I NOTICED A SLIGHT JERK OF THE STEERING WHEEL WHEN GOING AROUND CURVES. I WAS GOING 70MPH ON THE HIGHWAY FOR A QUICK AFTERNOON TRIP OUT OF TOWN. ON THE WAY HOME (36,000 MILES) IT WAS DOING THIS EVEN WHEN DRIVING STRAIGHT. I HAD MY HUSBAND DRIVE IT WHEN I GOT BACK, AND THAT'S WHEN WE DECIDED TO GET IT TO THE NEAREST DEALERSHIP (45 MILES AWAY). THE WHOLE RACK AND PINION STEERING COLUMN WAS SEVERELY CORRODED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I WAS WITHOUT MY VEHICLE FOR OVER A MONTH WHILE FORD GAVE US THE RUNAROUND ON WHETHER OR NOT IT WOULD BE COVERED SINCE WE WERE ALMOST 200 MILES OUT OF WARRANTY BY THE TIME THE VEHICLE WAS AT THEIR FACILITY. WHEN DRIVING IT THERE GOING ABOUT 40MPH ON THE HIGHWAY, THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT ENTIRELY AND THREW THE CAR CLEAR ACROSS THE ROAD. THANKFULLY IT WENT TO THE RIGHT AND INTO THE DITCH, BECAUSE HAD IT JERKED TO THE LEFT, WE'D PROBABLY BE DEAD. IT JERKED ALL OVER THE ROAD THE WHOLE WAY TO THE DEALERSHIP.
