Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2007-2011 Ranger, 2006-2012 Fusion, Lincoln Zephyr, Lincoln MKZ, 2006-2011 Mercury Milan, 2007-2010 Ford Edge, and Lincoln MKX vehicles. The driver's side air bag inflator may explode due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to high absolute humidity, high temperatures, and high temperature cycling.
An inflator explosion may result in sharp metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants, resulting in serious injury or death.
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the driver-side airbag inflator or module with an alternate one, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on April 9, 2021 for the passenger side, and November 14, 2022 for the driver side. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2006-2010 Ford Fusion, Mercury Milan, Lincoln Zephyr and MKZ vehicles. The valves within the ABS Hydraulic Control Units (HCU) may react with brake fluids containing specific corrosion preventative additives. This reaction may cause the valves to not close properly.
If the valves do not properly close, additional brake pedal travel may be required to stop the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will flush the brake system with DOT 4 fluid and install a new brake fluid reservoir cap. In addition, the HCU will be tested to detect a possible stuck valve condition, replacing the HCU as necessary. All services will be performed free of charge. The recall began April 1, 2021. Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain all weather driver side accessory floor mats sold for use in model year 2006-2011 Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan, 2006 Lincoln Zephyr, and 2007-2011 Lincoln MKZ vehicles manufactured November 9, 2007, through October 31, 2010. The affected floor mats may move and possibly interfere with the accelerator pedal.
The floor mat could shift such that it could interfere with the accelerator pedal, preventing its return to an idle position, which could result in unintended vehicle speeds, increasing the risk of a crash.
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will install new replacement mats, free of charge. The recall began in July 2014. Owners may contact Ford's customer service at 1-800-392-3673. Ford's number for this recall is 14S07. NOTE: Vehicles built after October 31, 2010, while potentially equipped with the same floor mats, are equipped with a Brake Over Accelerator (BOA) feature that prevents simultaneous accelerator and brake application, allowing the vehicle to be safely stopped by pressing firmly and steadily on the brake pedal.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD FUSION. AFTER THE DRIVER BUCKLED THE SEAT BELT, THE SEAT BELT EXPLODED AND LOCKED THE DRIVER IN THE SEAT. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS A MOISTURE FAILURE AND THE SEAT BELT RESTRAINT ON THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDES NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR WAS SUPPOSED TO ILLUMINATE IN ORDER FOR THE FAILURE TO OCCUR. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.

I MADE A PANIC STOP TO AVOID HITTING A PEDESTRIAN. THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM WAS ACTIVATED WITH THIS STOP. THE CAR STOPPED CORRECTLY. I ARRIVED AT THE NEXT INTERSECTION TO STOP AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. I ROLLED THROUGH THE INTERSECTION AND WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER. I PUMPED THE BRAKE PEDAL FOR TEN MINUTES BEFORE NORMAL BRAKE PEDAL PRESSURE WAS ACHIEVED. THE CAR WAS LATER CHECKED OUT FOR THE LOW PEDAL AND IT WAS DETERMINED TO HAVE A DEFECTIVE ABS MODULE/UNIT. I AM DRIVING THE VEHICLE WITH THE ABS FUSE REMOVED TO AVOID THIS FROM OCCURRING AGAIN UNTIL THE REPLACEMENT OF THE ABS UNIT IS MADE. THIS MUST BE RECALLED BY FORD MOTOR COMPANY BEFORE A FATALITY OCCURS.

I HAD JUST BOUGHT MY 2007 FORD FUSION BARELY A MONTH AGO BASED ON THE FACT THAT THE VIN NUMBER WAS CLEAN, NO HISTORY OF ACCIDENTS AND ONE OWNER. I HAVE HAD NO IDEA THAT MY NOW NEW TO ME PRECIOUS VEHICLE THAT I LOVE LOTS AND SHELLED OUT 3,000 FOR WAS A PART OF THIS AIRBAG INFLATE RECALL UNTIL I GOT A NOTIFICATION IN THE MAIL YESTERDAY AND RAN MY PLATE THROUGH THE AIRBAG RECALL WEBSITE. I USE MY NOW LOVED VEHICLE FOR UBER AND I TAKE MY CHILDREN TO SCHOOL IN THE VEHICLE IN QUESTION DAILY. NOW IT MAKES ME QUESTION NOT ONLY MY PERSONAL SAFETY BUT THE SAFETY MY CHILDREN AND MY UBER PASSENGERS. LUCKY FOR ME I HAVE NOT GOTTEN INTO AN ACCIDENT WITH THIS VEHICLE YET. I HAVE BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT IN A VEHICLE THAT HAD ABSOLUTELY NO AIRBAGS AT ALL 10 YEARS AGO AND I AM LITERALLY FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO STILL BE ALIVE AND WELL. IN THE ACCIDENT I WAS IN JUST NOT THIS VEHICLE IN PARTICULAR, HIGHWAY PATROL IN NEVADA THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO DIE. NOW THIS VEHICLE I JUST BOUGHT I BOUGHT OCTOBER 4TH, 2017. HAVE CONTACTED FORD OF MURFREESBORO ON SEVERAL OCCASSIONS. THEY STATE THAT THEY DO NOT HAVE REPLACEMENT AIRBAGS, AND THAT IT IS AGAINST THE LAW TO DISABLE THE CURRENT AIRBAG. THIS RECALL WAS DATED JUNE 2017. IT IS NOW NOVEMBER 2017. YOU WOULD THINK THAT FORD COMPANY WOULD BE ABLE TO ENGINEER THEIR OWN REPLACEMENT AIRBAG IN 17 MONTHS.

IT'S BEEN 8 MONTHS, NO SECOND LETTER, BUT RECEIVED A LEGAL NOTICE FROM TK HOLDINGS ABOUT THE AIRBAG AND CHAPTER 11 CASE NO. 17-11375. CALLED DEALER AGAIN, WAS INFORMED THEY CAN'T HELP ME, BECAUSE NO PARTS. I AM STILL DRIVING MY CAR WITH A DEFECTED AIRBAG. SEEMS TO ME IT IS VERY UNSAFE.
