Service brakes, hydraulic, antilock/traction control/electronic limited slip, control unit/moduleDec 18, 2019
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2006-2010 Ford Fusion, Mercury Milan, Lincoln Zephyr and MKZ vehicles. The valves within the ABS Hydraulic Control Units (HCU) may react with brake fluids containing specific corrosion preventative additives. This reaction may cause the valves to not close properly.
If the valves do not properly close, additional brake pedal travel may be required to stop the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will flush the brake system with DOT 4 fluid and install a new brake fluid reservoir cap. In addition, the HCU will be tested to detect a possible stuck valve condition, replacing the HCU as necessary. All services will be performed free of charge. The recall began April 1, 2021. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 19S54.

Fuel system, gasoline, storage, auxillary tankNov 24, 2015
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2010-2011 Ford Fusion vehicles manufactured July 21, 2008, to March 4, 2011, and 2010-2011 Mercury Milan vehicles manufactured July 23, 2008, to December 10, 2010. The affected vehicles have fuel vapor canisters whose purge valves may not operate properly resulting in abnormal pressure changes in the fuel tank.
The pressure changes may cause the tank to crack and leak fuel. A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source increases the risk of a fire.
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will update the vehicle powertrain control modules and inspect the vehicle for any diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) for this issue and perform a leak test on the Canister Purge Valve (CPV). The fuel tank will be inspected for cracks. The CPV and fuel tank will be replaced as necessary. These repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began on January 15, 2016. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 15S34.

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain all weather driver side accessory floor mats sold for use in model year 2006-2011 Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan, 2006 Lincoln Zephyr, and 2007-2011 Lincoln MKZ vehicles manufactured November 9, 2007, through October 31, 2010. The affected floor mats may move and possibly interfere with the accelerator pedal.
The floor mat could shift such that it could interfere with the accelerator pedal, preventing its return to an idle position, which could result in unintended vehicle speeds, increasing the risk of a crash.
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will install new replacement mats, free of charge. The recall began in July 2014. Owners may contact Ford's customer service at 1-800-392-3673. Ford's number for this recall is 14S07. NOTE: Vehicles built after October 31, 2010, while potentially equipped with the same floor mats, are equipped with a Brake Over Accelerator (BOA) feature that prevents simultaneous accelerator and brake application, allowing the vehicle to be safely stopped by pressing firmly and steadily on the brake pedal.

I NOTICED AT THANKSGIVING TWO MORE ON THE FRONT LEFT WHEEL AND FIXED IT PROMPTLY, ONLY DRIVING TO PICK UP PARTS, REPLACING ALL FIVE ON THE FRONT TIRE AND THE BROKEN ONE OF THE BACK TIRE. IN JANUARY 2019, I NOTICED TWO MORE ON THE BACK WHEEL SHEARED OFF AND REPLACED ALL FIVE. IN APRIL 2019, I NOTICED TWO MORE ON THE BACK WHEEL SHEARED OFF AND REPLACED THOSE TWO. THE MODELS AFTER IT HAVE A RECALL BUT NONE FOR THE 2010 MAKE. I FEEL AS IF, THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON ANY AND EVERY VECHILE FORD MAKES. NO MATTER THE YEAR OR MODEL. THE MANUFACTURER MADE THE VECHILE AND OF ITS A PROBLEM THAT WAS NOT CAUSED BY CUSTOMERS BUT BY THE MANUFACTURER THEN IT SHOULD BE FIXED. ALL DIAGNOSTIC TESTS ON BRAKES AND MASTER CYLINDER ARE STATING THAT BRAKES ARE WORKING AS THEY SHOULD WITH NO PROBLEMS TO FIX BUT THE BRAKE PEDAL DOES NOT STOP THE CAR. EVERYTHING THAT COULD BE CAUSING THE PEDAL TO LOWER TO THE FLOOR AND BE SLOW TO STOP THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN CHECKED MULTIPLE TIMES. PADS ARE GOOD, ROTORS ARE GOOD, BRAKE FLUID GOOD, NO LEAKS, BRAKE LINES ARE GOOD, NO AIR IN LINES, MASTER CYLINDER IS GOOD. WHILE OPERATING VEHICLE, STEERING SYSTEM DISPLAYED ERROR ON DRIVER INFORMATION CENTER AND VEHICLE BECAME DIFFICULT TO STEER. LUCKILY WAS ABLE TO GET OFF THE ROAD WITH NO PERSONAL INJURY. DIAGNOSIS OF THE PROBLEM IS THAT THE ENTIRE RACK AND PINION STEERING ASSEMBLY MUST BE REPLACE BECAUSE OF A FAILURE OF THE ELECTRONIC MOTOR THAT IS NOT SERVICEABLE. THE REPAIR IS AN EXPENSIVE REPAIR AS THE REPLACEMENT UNIT IS EXPENSIVE. MY CONCERN IS THAT THIS IS A TRUE SAFETY ISSUE. MY RESEARCH SHOWS THAT FORD CHANGED THE STEERING ASSEMBLY PART WAY THROUGH THE PRODUCTION OF THIS MODEL YEAR. THIS IMPLIES THAT THEY KNEW THERE WAS AN ISSUE AND TOOK STEPS TO ADDRESS. THIS CHANGED ASSEMBLY WAS LATER USED ON THE REMAINING 2010 AND CARRIED THROUGH TO THE 2011 AND 2012 MODEL YEARS THAT WERE LATER RECALLED BECAUSE OF ISSUES WITH THIS STEERING ASSEMBLY. YOUR ORGANIZATION IDENTIFIED A SAFETY ISSUE WITH THE 2011 AND 2012 MODEL YEARS YET CHOSE TO IGNORE THE 2010 MODEL YEAR. THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF FAILURES ON THE 2010 MODEL YEAR. HELP ME UNDERSTAND THE RATIONALE FOR NOT CLASSIFYING THIS AS A SAFETY ISSUE.
