Service brakes, hydraulic, antilock/traction control/electronic limited slip, control unit/moduleDec 18, 2019
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2006-2010 Ford Fusion, Mercury Milan, Lincoln Zephyr and MKZ vehicles. The valves within the ABS Hydraulic Control Units (HCU) may react with brake fluids containing specific corrosion preventative additives. This reaction may cause the valves to not close properly.
If the valves do not properly close, additional brake pedal travel may be required to stop the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will flush the brake system with DOT 4 fluid and install a new brake fluid reservoir cap. In addition, the HCU will be tested to detect a possible stuck valve condition, replacing the HCU as necessary. All services will be performed free of charge. The recall began April 1, 2021. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 19S54.

Air bags, frontal, passenger side, inflator moduleNov 1, 2018
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2010 Ford Fusion, Mercury Milan and 2010-2012 Lincoln MKZ vehicles that previously received a replacement passenger air bag under recall 16V-384, 17V-024 or 18V-046. In the event of a crash requiring deployment of the passenger air bag, the bracket that secures the air bag inflator to the module housing may deform, allowing the gas that inflates the air bag to leak out.
If the air bag does not inflate as intended, there is an increased risk of injury in the event of a crash.
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the passenger air bag module, free of charge. The recall began November 21, 2018. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 18S34.

Any vehicle not included in "Zone A", or "Zone B" is not included in the safety recall. These vehicles are equipped with certain air bag inflators assembled as part of the passenger frontal air bag modules, and used as original equipment or replacement equipment. Fuel system, gasoline, storage, auxillary tankNov 24, 2015
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2010-2011 Ford Fusion vehicles manufactured July 21, 2008, to March 4, 2011, and 2010-2011 Mercury Milan vehicles manufactured July 23, 2008, to December 10, 2010. The affected vehicles have fuel vapor canisters whose purge valves may not operate properly resulting in abnormal pressure changes in the fuel tank.
The pressure changes may cause the tank to crack and leak fuel. A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source increases the risk of a fire.
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will update the vehicle powertrain control modules and inspect the vehicle for any diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) for this issue and perform a leak test on the Canister Purge Valve (CPV). The fuel tank will be inspected for cracks. The CPV and fuel tank will be replaced as necessary. These repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began on January 15, 2016. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 15S34.

EquipmentMay 29, 2014
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain all weather driver side accessory floor mats sold for use in model year 2006-2011 Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan, 2006 Lincoln Zephyr, and 2007-2011 Lincoln MKZ vehicles manufactured November 9, 2007, through October 31, 2010. The affected floor mats may move and possibly interfere with the accelerator pedal.
The floor mat could shift such that it could interfere with the accelerator pedal, preventing its return to an idle position, which could result in unintended vehicle speeds, increasing the risk of a crash.
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will install new replacement mats, free of charge. The recall began in July 2014. Owners may contact Ford's customer service at 1-800-392-3673. Ford's number for this recall is 14S07. NOTE: Vehicles built after October 31, 2010, while potentially equipped with the same floor mats, are equipped with a Brake Over Accelerator (BOA) feature that prevents simultaneous accelerator and brake application, allowing the vehicle to be safely stopped by pressing firmly and steadily on the brake pedal.

VERY SCARY JUST LOCKED UP WITHOUT ANY WARNING. I'VE HAD ZERO ISSUES WHATSOEVER WITH IT. NO PROBLEMS AT ALL IN THE 9 YEARS I'VE HAD THIS CAR BESIDES THE OTHER RECALLS ON IT. CANT STRESS ENOUGH HOW SCARY IT WAS TO JUST BE DRIVING AND WITHOUT WARNING NEARLY BEING KILLED BY A CAR MALFUNCTION.

MY 17 YEAR OLD WAS PULLING ONTO A BUSY ROAD AND HER POWER STEERING LOCKED UP. IT GAVE NO WARNING AND SAID SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW. SHE WAS LUCK THAT SHE COULD GO STRAIGHT AND NOT INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. I KNOW THEY RECALLED OTHER YEARS AROUND 2010 BUT THIS IS VERY UNSAFE. IF SHE WOULD HAVE BEEN ON THE HIGHWAY OR IN HEAVY TRAFFIC THIS COULD RESULT IN A MAJOR ACCIDENT OR DEATH. THIS ISSUE REALLY NEEDS TO BE LOOKED INTO. I WILL ALSO PUT IN A COMPLAINT WITH FORD AS WELL. THE PEOPLE WHO LOOKED AT IT SAID THAT THERE IS NO CODE SHOWING A PROBLEM AND CAN RESET IT WHICH IS NOT A GREAT OPTION BECAUSE IT WILL JUST HAPPEN AGAIN WITHOUT WARNING.

I COMPLAINED TO FORD FOR A SECOND TIME REGARDING THE ELECTRONIC STEERING RACK AND SINCE IT IS NOT RECALLED IT IS UNABLE TO BE REPLACED. MOST OF THE PEOPLE IN THE CALL CENTER ARE NOT FLUENT IN ENGLISH SO ITS NEAR IMPOSSIBLE TO GET ISSUES RESOLVED. THE PART IS MADE IN NEW MEXICO AND MY ONLY ALTERNATIVE IS TO PURCHASE A REFURBISHED RACK. I REFUSE TO BUY THIS RACK BECAUSE ITS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH FORD FUSIONS AND MOST PEOPLE WHO HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE HAVE GOTTEN INTO SERIOUS ACCIDENT OR NEAR MISSES SUCH AS MYSELF. THE CAR CURRENTLY SITS AT THE AUTOSHOP WHILE I DRIVE A RENTAL UNTIL I CAN AFFORD TO BUY THE 1300 PART AND HAVE FORD CHARGE ME AN ADDITIONAL 1150 TO INSTALL IT. WHILE TURNING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY INTO THE STREET THE BRAKE PETAL PULSED AS IF THE ANTILOCK BRAKE SYSTEM WAS ACTIVATED. IMMEDIATELY AFTER THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR WITH NO BRAKES BEING PRESENT. PUMPING THE BRAKES RESTORED A LITTLE OF THE PEDAL PRESSURE. AFTER THAT THE BRAKES REMAINED SPONGY. WE REPLACED THE BRAKE MASTER CYLJNDER BUT WERE UNABLE TO GET ANY PRESSURE IN THE BRAKE SYSTEM EVEN AFTER BLEEDING THE BRAKE LINES. THE DEALER SAID THAT IT WAS THE ABS CONTROL MODULE. THERE SHOULD NOT BE A PART THAT CAN FAIL WHILE DRIVING THAT CAN PHYSICALLY TAKE AWAY ALL OF THE BREAK PRESSURE IN THE SYSTEM. IN RESEARCHING ON THE INTERNET I HAVE FOUND HUNDREDS OF CASES OF PEOPLE SAYING THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO THEM WITH THEIR FUSION. THE PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE THAT ONE OF THE VALVES IN THE ABS CONTROL MODULE CAN STICK IN THE OPEN POSITION CREATING A LOOP IN THE BRAKE LINE SYSTEM THAT ALLOWS THE FLUID TO CIRCULATE INSTEAD OF PRESSURIZING THE WHEEL CALIPERS.

WHEN I STARTED MY CAR THIS MORNING, A MESSAGE APPEARED THAT SAID "POWER STEERING ASSISTANT FAULT ERROR" I INITIALLY THOUGHT MAYBE IT WAS BECAUSE OF THE COLD, BUT THAT WAS NOT THE CASE. I DROVE IT TO WORK, AS I DID NOT HAVE ANY OTHER CHOICE. I MADE IT TO WORK SAFELY, IT WAS JUST HARD STEERING AT TURNS. I BEGAN TO INVESTIGATE AS TO THE PROBLEM ON THE INTERNET. IT SEEMS THAT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE FOR THE 2011 AND LATER MODELS. UNFORTUNATELY THIS IS NOT THE BEST TIME FOR THIS TO HAPPEN. AS I WAS READING THIS SITE, THERE ARE MANY OTHERS WITH THE SAME YEAR MODEL FUSION THAT ALSO HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE. I WOULD THINK THAT FORD WOULD CONSIDER TO ALSO OFFER TO FIX THIS PROBLEM ON THE 2010 MODES AS WELL, SINCE THEY HAVE HAD THE RECALL ON THE 2011 MODELS.
