Recalls and investigations

  1. Power train, manual transmissionJun 9, 2026

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2015-2018 Focus and 2013-2016 Fusion vehicles previously repaired incorrectly under recall numbers 18V169 and 18V845. The clutch may fracture, resulting in damage to the transmission assembly and possibly a transmission fluid leak.

A transmission fluid leak in the presence of an ignition source such as hot engine or exhaust components can increase the risk of a fire.

Dealers will update the software, free of charge. Additionally, dealers will inspect Focus vehicles and replace the clutch assembly as necessary, free of charge. Interim letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed August 5, 2026. Additional letters will be sent once the remedy is available. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 26S43. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will become searchable on NHTSA.gov on July 6,2026.

  3. Power train, automatic transmission, gear position indication (prndl)Jun 10, 2022

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2013-2019 Escape, 2013-2018 C-Max, 2013-2016 Fusion, 2013-2021 Transit Connect, and 2015-2018 Edge vehicles. The bushing that attaches the shifter cable to the transmission may degrade or detach.

A damaged or missing bushing may prevent the vehicle from shifting into the intended gear, and cause the vehicle to move in an unexpected direction. Additionally, the vehicle may roll after the driver selects the 'Park' position. Either scenario increases the risk of a crash or injury.

Dealers will replace the under hood shift bushing and add a protective cap over the shift cable bushing, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters, informing owners of the safety risk, were mailed July 1, 2022. Remedy parts are expected to be available in 4th Quarter 2022. 4. Latches/locks/linkages, doors, latchJun 8, 2020

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2011-2014 Fiesta, 2013-2014 Fusion, 2015 Mustang, 2013-2015 Escape and C-Max, 2012-2015 Focus, 2014-2016 Transit Connect, 2013-2014 Lincoln MKZ, and 2015 MKC vehicles. These vehicles were previously recalled and repaired under recalls 15V-246, 16V-643 or 17V-210, however the repair may not have been completed properly. A component within the door latches may break making the doors difficult to latch and/or leading the driver or a passenger to believe a door is securely closed when, in fact, it is not.

A door that is not securely latched could open while the vehicle is in motion, increasing the risk of injury to a vehicle occupant.

Ford will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the latch date codes to confirm if the repair was done correctly, and replace the side door latches if necessary, free of charge. Owners will also have the option to inspect their own vehicle's door latches and enter the date codes into a website to determine if the latches are correct. Owner notification letters were mailed on July 27, 2020. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 20S30.

  18. Engine and engine coolingDec 3, 2012

This is an update to a recently announced recall. Ford is recalling certain model year 2013 Escape vehicles manufactured from October 5, 2011, through November 26, 2012, equipped with 1.6L engines, as well as certain model year 2013 Fusion vehicles manufactured from February 3, 2012, through November 29, 2012, equipped with 1.6L engines. Coolant system leaks may cause the engines to overheat and leak flammable engine fluids.

If flammable engine fluids come in contact with the vehicle’s hot exhaust system, a vehicle fire could occur.

Ford will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the engine for coolant system leaks and reprogram the vehicle’s powertrain control module and instrument cluster with an updated calibration and overheat strategy software. There will be no charge to owners for this service. Owners were recently notified to contact dealers to arrange for alternative transportation as Ford developed a remedy. Owners will be shortly receiving notifications to contact Ford dealers to schedule the free remedy repair. Owners may contact Ford Motor Company Customer Relationship Center at 1-866-436-7332.

  19. Exterior lighting, headlightsNov 30, 2012

Ford is recalling certain model year 2013 Fusion vehicles, manufactured from February 3, 2012, through October 20, 2012, for failing to conform to the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment." The affected vehicles may not have had the low beam headlamp projector coating properly cured during its manufacturing process.

An improperly cured projector coating will become hazy through operation, over time, reducing the brightness of the low-beam lamp. This may decrease driver visibility and increase the risk of a vehicle crash.

Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the headlamp assembly. The recall began on December 18, 2012. Owners may contact Ford Motor Company Customer Relationship Center at 1-866-436-7332.

  1. Steering, Electrical system, Electronic stability control (ESC), Mar 22, 2019

HAVE NOT BROUGH TO DEALER YET, HOWEVER ALL MY LIGHTS LIT UP AND HAVE NOT TURNED OF SO FAR. ADVANCETRAC, BLINDSPOT, REAR CAMERA ASSIST, ABS, ETC.. BASICALLY ALL MY ASSIST HAVE COME ON. SINCE THEY HAVE COME ON MY STEERING HAS BEEN TOUGH, AS IF THE ELECTRICAL ASSIST WAS DISABLED BECAUSE ITS COMBINED WITH THE ABS SYSTEM. ACCORDING TO A YOUTUBE VIDEO POSTED ONLINE, THE PROBLEM IS A CORRODED OR MALFUNCTIONING WIRE IN THE ABS DRIVER (OR PASSENGER?) SIDE OF THE WHEEL WELL. "ISSUE WAS MY DRIVER FRONT TIRE... IT'S THE WIRE HARNESS THAT GOES BACK TO THE CPU FROM THE ABS SPEED SENSOR. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL IN MY OPINION AS A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE HAVING THIS ISSUE WHICH CAUSES ELECTRICAL POWER STEERING ASSIST TO TURN OFF MAKING IT HARDER TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL" QUOTED FROM THE YOUTUBE VIDEO. WHERE THE WIRES CONNECT OR SOMETHING ALONG THAT LINE. IT WOULD BE REALLY APPRECIATED IF FORD LOOKED INTO THIS AND MADE A RECALL. THIS IS NOT SAFE CONSIDERING IT DISABLES SOME (OR ALL) OF YOUR STEERING CAPABILITIES. MORE DETAIL: ALL LIGHTS HAVE LIT UP BEFORE DURING THE FIRST SNOW-FALL (BUT SHORTLY AFTER TURNED OFF). I PURCHASED THE CAR WITH 70,000 MILES ON IT, IN JULY OF 18'. IT IS NOW MARCH OF 19' AND WE'VE HAD WARM DAYS UP UNTIL TODAY, WHEN WE HAD SNOW AGAIN HERE IN CENTRAL NEW YORK. NOW THE PROBLEM ARISES AGAIN. PLEASE RECALL THIS ISSUE.

  2. Steering, Mar 22, 2019

TAKATA RECALL WHEN I TURN ON MY CAR THE WARNING MESSAGE SAID "POWER STEERING SERVICE NOW." WHEN I TRY TO GET OUT OF THE PARKING LOT OF THE STORE. HAD TO CALL A TOW TO GET IT TO A SHOP. SINCE FORD WAS ALL BOOKED UP AND DONT HAVE AN OPENING TILL 3-4 WEEKS LATER SO I TOOK IT TO A SHOP THAT WOULD TAKE A LOOK AT IT THE NEXT DAY. THE SHOP TOLD ME THAT MY RACK AND PINION WAS NOT WORKING. THEY SAID WAS THE CAR IN ANY ACCIDENT OR WENT INTO ANY POTHOLES I TOLD THEM NO. BECAUSE I MAINLY DRIVE ON THE HIGHWAY WHICH HAS NO POTHOLES. THE SHOP TOLD ME TO GET A NEW RACK AND PINION IT WOULD COST ME $1000 OR GET A REBUILT ONE FOR $600. SO I WENT FOR THE CHEAPER OPTION BECAUSE I DON'T HAVE THAT KIND OF MONEY FOR A NEW ONE. RIGHT NOW I'M JUST WAITING FOR THE CAR TO BE FIXED. THE CAR ONLY HAS 68000+ MILES AND ITS ALREADY BREAKING DOWN. IF THE CAR OF THAT YEAR HAS A RECALL GET THE RECALL FOR ALL OF THE CARS OF THAT YEAR NOT JUST SOME.

MY CAR HAS BEEN SKIPPING AND HESITATION WITH POWER TRAIN OR TRANSMISSION WHILE DRIVING WHENEVER IT WANTS. IT’S NOTHING SPECIFIC TO MAKE THAT HAPPEN. LAST WEEK BACK POWER WINDOWS QUIT WORKING. NOW....STARTED CAR IN DRIVE, STEERING WAS LOCKED. DROVE BACK AND FORTH, TRIED DIFFERENT GEARS, TRIED RESTARTING, IT FINALLY STARTED BY TURNING KEY OVER. CAME HOME, PARKED IN DRIVEWAY, CAN’T GET STEERING TO UNLOCK AT ALL NOW! I AM OVER AN HOUR AWAY FROM HOME, SO WHENEVER IT DECIDES TO TURN, I CAN HEAD HOME. BUT AFTER READING THESE REVIEWS, DO I DARE? DOES FORD WANT US OWNERS TO DIE, OR THE INNOCENT WE MAY HIT? EITHER WAY I WOULD SUE BECAUSE THEY CANNOT DENY KNOWING THERE’S A PROBLEM!

  6. Steering, Feb 6, 2019

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FUSION. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED, THE STEERING ABILITY SEIZED AND THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. 7. Steering, Feb 5, 2019

I HAVE ALREADY FILED A COMPLAINT , #11173709, I AM FILING AGAIN BECAUSE I WANTED TO ADD INFORMATION TO THE ORIGINAL COMPLAINT BUT COULD NOT FIND HOW TO DO THAT. THIS IS A 2013 MODEL YEAR CAR THAT WAS PURCHASED NEW FROM THE DEALER IN MARCH 2015. THE CAR HAS BEEN ON THE ROAD FOR LESS THAN FOUR YEARS AND HAS ONLY 34750 MILES. THE STEERING ASSIST HAS FAILED, ALMOST CAUSING A FENDER BENDER IN A PARKING LOT. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS , IT SEEMS TO BE A KNOWN PROBLEM THAT FORD HAS WITH SEVERAL CARS. THE COST FOR REPAIR HAS BEEN ESTIMATED AT 1800.00 PLUS TAX FROM OUR LOCAL FORD DEALER. ANOTHER CONCERN I HAVE IS THAT I BOUGHT TWO OF THESE CARS AT THE SAME TIME AND I AM NOW WAITING FOR THE SECOND CARS STEERING TO FAIL.

  8. Steering, Feb 2, 2019

STEERING ASSIST FAILURE IT SEEMS THAT THERE HAVE BEEN PROBLEMS AND RECALLS WITH THIS STEERING ISSUE HOWEVER THE DEALERSHIP WILL NOT ADDRESS THE PROBLEM

  9. Steering, Jan 23, 2019

THE PROBLEM I AM CURRENTLY FACING AND HAS BEEN CORRECTLY DIAGNOSED BY A FORD DEALERSHIP IS A LOOSE STEERING WHEEL ATTACHMENT BOLT. THIS PROBLEM ALREADY PERSISTS AND HAS A RECALL FOR 2014-2018 FORD FUSIONS (18S08). MY STEERING WHEEL IS VERY LOOSE AND FEELS LIKE IT CAN FALL OFF ANY MOMENT. ONE CAN EASILY TELL THAT THE STEERING WHEEL IS NOT FULLY ATTACHED TO THE REST OF THE CAR. THE PROBLEM BEGAN MONTHS AGO AND HAS PROGRESSIVELY GOTTEN WORSE OVERTIME. I HAVE CONTACTED FORD WHO NOTIFIED ME THAT SINCE MY CAR IS NOT INCLUDED, THEY WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO FIX IT EVEN THOUGH I AM HAVING THE EXACT ISSUE LISTED IN RECALL 18S08.

  10. Steering, Jan 17, 2019

I WAS AT HOME AND GOT INTO MY CAR TO LEAVE AND WHEN I TURNED ON MY CAR I HAD NO POWER STEERING. I HAD A MESSAGE THAT SAID POWER STEERING FAULT ASSIST. THE AFFECTED VEHICLES HAVE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING ASSIST SYSTEMS THAT MAY SHUT DOWN AS A RESULT OF A STEERING MOTOR SENSOR FAULT WHICH IS WHAT HAPPENED TO MY CAR. THE NHTSA NEEDS TO PUT MORE TIME INTO INVESTIGATING THIS. I HAVE READ COUNTLESS COMPLAINTS AND ISSUES FOR 3 MONTHS AND NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE TO RECTIFY THIS. THIS COST ME $1,985 AND MY CAR DIDN'T EVEN HAVE 100,000 MILES ON IT YET. WHY ISN'T ANYONE LOOKING INTO ALL OF THESE COMPLAINTS. THE BEHAVIOR OF THE NHTSA EXHIBITS A CARELESS, NEGLIGENT ATTITUDE, SHOWING NO CONCERN FOR PUBLIC SAFETY AND THEY SHOULD BE EMBARRASSED. FORD HAS ALSO BEEN OF LITTLE HELP AND HAS NOT OFFERED ANY SUGGESTIONS TO HELP WITH A SOLUTION.

I BOUGHT MY 2013 FORD FUSION BRAND NEW. I ONLY HAVE 70,000 MILES ON THE CAR AND ZERO ACCIDENTS. I DROVE MY CAR TO THE GYM ON A SATURDAY MORNING AND MADE IT HOME NO PROBLEM. WHEN I WENT OUT TO MY CAR THE FOLLOWING DAY THE DASH LIT UP WITH NOTICES OF "HILL START ASSIST NOT AVAILABLE" SERVICE ADVANCETRAC AND POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT" THE WHEEL WOULD NOT TURN AND WAS UNDRIVEABLE IN MY DRIVEWAY. I HAVE FOUND COUNTLESS OTHER INCIDENCE OF THIS ISSUE WITH THE SAME VEHICLE YET IT HASN'T BEEN RECALLED AND IT'S AN EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE FIX. IN THE FIVE YEAR OF OWNING THIS VEHICLE IT'S HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS.

WHEN IN REVERSE WHILE MOVING THE STEERING WHEEL WENT INTO LOCKED POSITION AND BRAKE PEDAL COULD NOT BE APPLIED (IN DRIVEWAY) RESTARTED VEHICLE IN HOPES OF A RESET ONLY THIS TIME WHEN PUT IN REVERSE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AND SAID TRANSMISSION WAS IN PARK NOT ABLE TO MOVE PREVIOUSLY CAR OVERHEATED IN 96 FEET FROM A COLD START (DRIVEWAY) ALSO 3 OTHER TIMES HAD A POWER ASSIST FAILURE (HIGHWAY IN MOTION) THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN THE DEALERSHIP FOR EACH ISSUE AND THEY HAVE FOUND NOTHING

THE RACK AND PINION ON MY 2013 FORD FUSION HAS GONE OUT WITH 53,000 MILES ON MY CAR THROUGH NO USER FAULT. I FIRST NOTICED THE NOISES WHEN TURNING THE CAR ON AND PULLING OUT OF A PARKING SPOT. WITHOUT WARNING THE STEARING STARTED MAKING GRINDING NOISES (LIKE WHAT A CAR MAKES WHEN THE POWER STEARING IS GOING OUT) AND WOULD THE WHEEL WOULD PERIODICALLY CATCH (THIS IS WITHIN TWO DAYS OF THE NOISES STARTING) WHEN I WOULD TURN. OTHER THAN THESE SYMPTOMS THERE ARE NO OTHER SIGNS OF STEERING FAILURE. I COULD HAVE BEEN DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND LOCKED UP WITHOUT NOTICE. FORD HAD A RECALL ON THE RACK AND PINION ON MY MODEL, BUT WHEN THE DEALERSHIP RAN MY VIN, IT IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL AS THE PARTS MUST HAVE MANUFACTURED AT ANOTHER FACTOR. CONSIDERING THE LOW MILEAGE ON MY CAR AND MAINTENCE ROUTINELY PERFORMED THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. THROUGH RESEARCH I HAVE SEEN THIS HAPPEN ON MULTIPLE FORD FUSIONS ON 2011+. THANKFULLY MINE DID NOT FAIL WHILE ON THE ROAD LIKE OTHERS. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND FORD NEEDS TO MAKE THIS RIGHT. A MECHANIC WAS THANKFULLY ABLE TO LOCATE THE ISSUE BEFORE I GOT INTO A SERIOUS ACCIDENT DUE TO STEERING FAILURE.

LOSS OF POWER STEERING ASSIST DURING DRIVING CAUSING THE CAR TO ONLY HAVE A FEW DEGREES OF UNASSISTED STEERING AVAILABLE.HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY, BUT WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF AND GET A TOW. THIS HAS BEEN AN ISSUE WITH THIS MODEL AND YEAR CAR, BUT FOR SOME REASON THE VIN DID NOT FALL UNDER THE RECALL. COMPLETE STEERING UNIT REQUIRES REPLACING AT COST OF $2700.00. OVER 500 ACCIDENTS HAVE BEEN REPORTED FOR THIS EXACT ISSUE. 56,000 MILES APPROX

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FUSION. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE CONTACT HAD TO USE EXCESSIVE STRENGTH TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL AND THE LOW POWER STEERING WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO PAUL CERAME FORD (11400 NEW HALLS FERRY ROAD, FLORISSANT, MO 63033, (314) 838-2400) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING RACK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 49,000.

THE STEERING WHEEL HAS GOTTEN HARD TO TURN.. JUST ONE DAY IT START DOING THIS AND HASN'T STOP.. I JUST GOT MY CAR FEBRUARY 2018.. I JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND... I TURNT MY CAR OF WHEN I WENT TO THE STORE ONE DAY, WHEN I TURNT IT BACK ON ALL KINDS OF LIGHTS CAME ON, ( POWER STEERING, HILL ASSIST START, ETC), AND IT WOULDN'T TURN RIGHT. IT BECAME HARD TO TURN, BUT WASN'T DOING IT BEFORE...

  17. Steering, Dec 29, 2018

WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY AT AROUND 40 MPH, ABOUT TO CROSS A BRIDGE, I LOST POWER STEERING AND IT IMMEDIATELY BECAME VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN THE WHEEL.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FUSION. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED. ON ANOTHER OCCASION, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED AFTER THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED AT A FUEL STATION. THE POWER STEERING WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT'S SPOUSE DROVE THE VEHICLE HOME. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO TOWN AND COUNTRY FORD (5401 E INDEPENDENCE BLVD, CHARLOTTE, NC 28212, (704) 557-0596) TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE DIAGNOSTIC RESULTS WERE UNKNOWN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,500.

WHINNING NOISE IN STEERING. LOW SPEEDS WHEN TURNING OR STATIONARY TURNING WHEEL.

  20. Steering, Dec 18, 2018

STEERING ALL OF A SUDDEN BECAME SUPER STIFF, MANY WARNING LIGHTS LITE. ALMOST CAUSED CRASH INTO PARKED CAR, LUCKY WAS AT SLOW SPEED 10 MPH. NOTE OTHER RECALLS FOR SAME ISSUE FORD SAID THIS VIN IS NOT COVERED BUT ISSUES ARE THE SAME AS OTHERS IN THE RECALL. CAR IS AT DEALERSHIP TO BE FIXED ROOT CAUSE RACK & PINON ASSEMBLY REPLACEMENT. VEHICLE STEERING WHEEL LOST ASSIST FUNCTION AND BECAME EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO STEER. THERE WAS NO ERROR MESSAGE OR CODE. TURNED OFF IGNITION AND RESTARTED STEERING BEGAN WORKING AGAIN. DROVE REMAINDER OF THE DAY WITHOUT ISSUE. PARKED CAR FOR EVENING. THE NEXT DAY STARTED CAR AND STEERING FELT LOCKED. PUT CAR IN REVERSE STEERING G WHEEL WOULD NOT TURN. APPLIED BRAKES FIRMLY... FOUND STEERING WOULD TURN BUT WITH GREAT EFFORT. NO VISIBLE WARNINGS ON DASH. TURNED OFF CAR. RESTARTED CAR...GREEN GO LIGHT ON, NO WARNINGS STEERING STILL VERY DIFFICULT. PLACED CAR IN DRIVE ROLLED FORWARD A FEW FEET AND APPLIED BRAKES FIRMLY. STEERING BECAME NORMAL. DROVE CAR TO DEALER IN AUGUST 2018 AND EXPLAINED SITUATION. DEALER PERFORMED DIAGNOSTICS AND FOUND NO STEERING OR DRIVE RELATED CODES. CLEARED CODES AND SAID TO BRING IT BACK IF IT HAPPENED AGAIN. 4 MONTHS LATER (DEC) CAR REPEATED STEERING FAILURE UPON STARTUP WITHOUT ANY CODE OR ALARM. CYCLED IGNITION SEVERAL TIMES AND STEERING BECAME NORMAL. ON DEC 14, 2018 WHILE DRIVING RECEIVED VISUAL NOTIFICATION OF "STEERING FAULT SERVICE NOW". NO APPARENT ISSUES WITH STEERING SO DROVE HOME. ON DEC 15, I STARTED CAR AND RECEIVED VISUAL MESSAGE " STEERING LOSS STOP SAFELY" AND STEERING WAS AGAIN VERY DIFFICULT. TOOK CAR TO DEALER ON DEC 17. DEALER NOTIFIED ME THAT STEERING GEAR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. $2300+. I FEEL THERE IS A DANGEROUS DEFECT IN THE STEERING MODULE AND MORE PEOPLE WILL HAVE ISSUES. THE LACK OF DIAGNOSIS BY THE VEHICLE SENSORS OF AN ISSUE AND THE DEALERS INABILITY TO VERIFY THE FAULTS I EXPERIENCED MAKES THIS CAR UNSAFE IN MY OPINION. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS. I AM JUST LUCKY I WAS NOT DRIVING WHEN IT FAILED COMPLETELY.

MY STEERING IS NOW GOING IN/OUT JUST AS I HAD A COMPLETE CVT REPLACEMENT SO THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS LATER. THERE IS A RECALL FOR THAT YEAR BUT NOT FOR THE MONTH THAT MY CAR WAS PRODUCED. IT'S STILL A KNOWN ISSUE WHICH SADDENS ME BECAUSE ITS MY FIRST TIME INVESTING IN AN AMERICAN VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE IS SITTING AT AAMCO SERVICE SHOP CURRENTLY.

MY POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT FLASHES AND FORD TELLS ME THERE IS NOTHING WRONG. I SAW A RECALL FOR THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING DUE TO SALT CORROSION ON THE 2013 BUT THEY ARE TELLING ME MINE WASN'T ONE OF THEM. WHY ISN'T MY VEHICLE ON THE RECALL LIST SINCE I LIVE IN NEW JERSEY WITH HARSH WINTERS. THIS SEEMS UNFAIR SINCE IT SEEMS TO BE THE SAME PROBLEM AS THE RECALL. TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE BEFORE SOMEONE DIES IN A CRASH DUE TO LOSS OF STEERING WHICH US A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM THIS THIS YEAR AND MAKE. PLEASE HELP!!! THE MESSAGE FLASHES ACROSS THE SCREEN A COUPLE OF MINUTES AFTER STARTING CAR THEN DISAPPEARS AND EVERYTHING SEEMS FINE?? THERE IS 76,000 MILES ON THE CAR. THIS CAR HAS BEEN IN THE REPAIR SHOP 17 TIMES IN 4 YEARS SO I AM DESPERATE AND NEED ANSWERS. THANK U FOR UR TIME!!!

DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AND POWERING STEERING LIGHT CAME ON. STOPPED VEHICLE, AND LOST STEERING WHEN RESTARTED VEHICLE. I THOUGHT IT MIGHT BE A SENSOR ISSUE, BUT WAS WRONG. I HAD TO USE ENTIRE BODYWEIGHT TO TURN WHEEL. UNSAFE TO DRIVE.
