The backup camera is malfunctioning. I brought in the car to the McGovern ford dealership for repair, but they stated the remedy was not yet available. It’s been over a year with a distorted image displayed on the screen, and it causes a huge distraction/confusion while reversing. It occasionally goes black, causing a dangerous situation while reversing in public areas. It began displaying a “repair needed, contact ford dealership” notification only after the camera had been distorted. This puts pedestrians/other vehicles at risk because it inaccurately displays where they are/ how close in proximity they are to my reversing vehicle. I have to turn my head to check my surroundings, but the distorted image displayed on the screen distracts/confuses the driver. It has been confirmed by the ford dealership.
Electrical system, Back over prevention, Sep 15, 2026
1. System / Component Failed: The rearview camera system displays a blank, distorted, or black screen while the vehicle is in reverse, completely eliminating rearward visibility. 2. Safety Risk: The loss of backup camera functionality directly impairs critical rearward visibility while reversing, significantly increasing the risk of a backover crash, striking pedestrians, or colliding with obstacles. 3. Manufacturer & Dealer Confirmation: This vehicle is affected by Ford Safety Recall Campaign 25SA9 (NHTSA Campaign 25V695). Local Ford dealership service departments and Ford Corporate have been contacted, and both confirm that no remedy or repair parts are available to perform the recall service. 4. Failure Details & Unreasonable Recall Delay: The safety defect is active and reproducible every time the vehicle is placed in reverse. Although this recall was issued nearly one full year ago (October 2025), the manufacturer has failed to supply replacement parts or provide a timely remedy under federal recall standards. The safety feature remains entirely inoperative without a resolution date or estimate provided by the manufacturer.

I am fully aware that my vehicle has a recall for the backup camera. Manufacturer recall number 25SA9, NHTSA recall number 25v695. That was back on XXX. Almost a year ago. It would be super if I could use my backup camera. I really appreciate that feature in the store parking lot, backing out of my driveway on a busy road, and picking up and dropping off my child from school as there are kids and vehicles everywhere are a few examples. Yes, I look over my shoulder regardless, but that camera does help a lot especially around the little kids. I have had a few close calls because someone was directly behind me and I didn't see them. Had my backup camera been working like it should have that wouldn't happen. How has it been almost a year and they still don't have parts? I have already had a few other recalls on my car to deal with as it is, but this one is particularly frustrating. How much time is a manufacturer typically given to fix a problem like this? How long do I need to wait for a feature that I paid for to work? I am a little frustrated, I know it is not your fault at all. I am just looking for some kind of an answer here. Thank you, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Electrical system, Aug 11, 2026
I am submitting this complaint regarding an unrepaired safety recall on my 2016 Ford Fusion, Ford Recall 25SA9 / NHTSA Recall 25V695, involving the rear-view camera. The recall concerns a condition where the rear-view camera may display a blank or distorted image when the vehicle is placed in reverse. This can reduce the driver's ability to see what is behind the vehicle and increase the risk of a crash. The recall was issued in October 2025. I have been waiting for the recall remedy to become available, but Ford and the dealership have been unable to complete the repair because the necessary parts are not available. As of August 11, 2026, my vehicle's NHTSA recall status still states: "Recall Incomplete, remedy not yet available." This means that approximately 10 months after the recall was issued, I still do not have access to the recall repair for a known safety defect. I understand that parts shortages can occur; however, I am concerned that such a significant amount of time has passed without Ford providing a remedy. The recall information indicates that the remedy was expected to become available, yet my vehicle remains unrepaired. I am requesting that NHTSA review Ford's handling of this recall and determine: Why the recall remedy remains unavailable approximately 10 months after the recall was issued. When Ford expects the required repair parts to actually become available. Whether Ford is taking adequate steps to provide affected vehicle owners with a timely and effective remedy. Whether Ford has provided an adequate interim solution for owners while they wait for the repair. I have contacted the dealership regarding the recall and have been advised that they cannot complete the repair because the necessary parts are unavailable. I am requesting NHTSA's assistance and review because this is a safety recall that remains unresolved many months after being issued. We received the notice about this recall in October 2025, more than six months ago. In our estimation, this far exceeds the reasonable amount of time that should be allotted to a company before a fix needs to be available and completed. This is a serious safety issue, and we have almost been in accidents because of the lack of camera. Dealerships have brushed us off when we asked about the status of the recall, as though it was unimportant. Is there anything we can do light a fire under Ford, or to force them to provide a replacement vehicle for us? Thank you,

The recall for the backup camera has been open since october with no remedy. This seems like an excessive amount of time and is giving me trouble selling my vehicle. How long is the manufacturer given to remedy the issue?

When backing up the rear camera went to black screen and wouldnt display the rear view. Almost hit a pedestrian because they were directly behind the car. This problem happens sometimes and I am not sure how to replicate it except for putting the car in reverse and seeing if it is going to display the rear view or not. I need this recall to be completed ASAP, it has been released since October and I’m still having issues with it 6 months later and there is no fix for this?? Its just frustrating
Electrical system, Visibility/wiper, May 10, 2026
The rear view camera on my 2016 Ford Fusion activates randomly while driving and displays blank or distorted images when the vehicle is in reverse. This is a known defect covered under Ford Recall 25SA9 / NHTSA 25v695, issued October 2025. I have contacted Koons Ford in Falls Church, VA multiple times requesting repair. The dealer stated the replacement part is only available for Mustangs. As of May 2026, Ford's own recall page confirms parts are still not available — over seven months after the recall was issued. I am driving daily with a malfunctioning safety system and no repair timeline. The camera issue creates a crash risk every time I reverse the vehicle.
Electrical system, Service brakes, Visibility/wiper, Mar 23, 2026
My vehicle has multiple active safety recalls that remain unrepaired. I have already contacted the dealership and attempted to have these issues addressed, but I have experienced delays and a lack of response. The front brake hose recall presents a serious safety risk, as it could rupture and cause a brake fluid leak, leading to reduced braking ability and increased stopping distance. Additionally, the rear view camera recall affects visibility when reversing, as the camera may display a blank or distorted image.I have already filed a complaint with NHTSA regarding these unresolved recalls. One of the recalls currently does not have a remedy available, and the other has not been completed despite my efforts to schedule repairs. These unresolved safety issues put me and others at risk, and I am concerned about the lack of timely action to correct them.

I get in my 2016 Fusion to go to dinner and I can barely turn my steering wheel. I put it in park and check the power steering fluid. FULL. I tried resetting the power steering assist by starting the car and turning all the way left then right then center. Still can barely turn. Tried disconnecting the battery hoping it would be an electrical glitch. Come to find out it’s could be a steering assist motor on the steering column that’s going bad and CAN CAUSE THIS PROBLEM WHILE DRIVING! That’s insane!
Electrical system, Visibility/wiper, Jan 19, 2026
The rear backup camera system on my 2016 Ford Fusion S has failed and no longer displays an image when the vehicle is placed in reverse. The screen remains completely black and does not activate. The backup camera previously worked normally before this failure. The issue appears to be related to the backup camera or associated electrical/display system, and the component should be available for inspection upon request. This malfunction creates a safety risk because the backup camera is necessary to see obstacles, pedestrians, and other vehicles behind the car. Without a functioning backup camera, rear visibility is significantly reduced, increasing the risk of a collision, especially in parking lots and residential areas. The problem occurs every time the vehicle is placed in reverse. The issue has not yet been confirmed by a dealer or independent repair facility. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives. There were no warning lights or messages prior to the failure. The screen began failing and now remains completely black when in reverse. The exact date the issue began is UNKNOWN.

Complete loss of power steering. Service advancetrac light on Hill assist not available 2016 fusion but is not included in the recall. Car was sold to me and is registered in Pennsylvania, the salt belt. Ran scanner got codes U0240 and C102D. Clear codes, immediately get power steering back. The in-dash backup camera stopped functioning about 2 years ago. The errors are random and range from glitching video, delay in activating, not switching off(driving forward with rearview camera activated), and a error code pop-up to contact the dealer. 100 percent of the time, the image is displayed in reverse making backing up impossible.

My complaint is, why does my 2016 Ford Fusion 1.5L 4-Cylinder EcoBoost Engine continue to be excluded from these major recalls? It's not fair as I deserve to have my engine, clock spring, & my rear view camera replaced just like the other Ford vehicles! I purchased my 2016 Fusion in 2018 & only a couple of years later I started having problems with the rear view camera but the dealership said that it wasn't covered under the warranty. I have always smelled engine coolant & oil but was always told that there is nothing leaking on the ground so there's nothing to worry about. Also I reached out to you guys in 2024 with the Gmail address of [XXX] ) about my steering wheel clock spring & never heard anything back, so I purchased a new one on [XXX] & replaced it myself when it arrived. Also earlier that day, I had my valve cover replaced at Brad Howell Ford in Kokomo, IN because I have been constantly losing oil & smelling oil burning. Even after that, I continued to smell oil & engine coolant but still get told that there's nothing leaking. Well my next oil change after that, I told them to check again because I had to add more oil, & that's when they determined that it was the turbo drain tube, which they replaced on Nov.5, 2024. That stopped the oil smell, but I continued to smell engine coolant which I continued to report to them, & at each oil change, they continued to top off the engine coolant. On Aug. 12, 2025 Brad Howell Ford decided to run a camera down into my cylinders & discovered that there's oil & coolant leaking down into my #2 cylinder. I contacted Tonia Frataccia, Customer Experience Specialist, Ford CX/Team, & I was told that my VIN# didn't make the recall list & that's why my engine wasn't replaced. It's not fair as my vehicle has the same defective engine & parts as the other recall vehicles & I deserve to have my car repaired also at Fords expense. Please help me, I need my car. Thank you for listening. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Seemingly randomly all center console functions and door functions shut off (no a/c / heat, can't roll down/up windows, outside ambient temp and can't unlock/lock doors from inside buttons (key still works as well as door handle unlock / speed lock) can be hazardous in even mild temp as interior heats up quickly without air flow. Other non-important functions that stop working include radio/stereo and back-up camera. Research points possibly to bcm apim miscommunication or improper grounding.
