Dealers will replace the under hood shift bushing and add a protective cap over the shift cable bushing, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters, informing owners of the safety risk, were mailed July 1, 2022. Remedy parts are expected to be available in 4th Quarter 2022. Road salt or other contaminants may corrode the electric power steering gear motor attachment bolts.
If the bolts corrode, the steering gear motor may detach from the gear housing resulting in a loss of power steering assist, requiring a greater steering effort, especially at lower speeds, and increasing the risk of a crash.
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the steering gear motor bolts and apply a wax sealer. If any of the steering gear motor attachment bolts are broken or missing, a new steering gear will be installed in the vehicle. These repairs will be performed free of charge. Other or unspecified, Engine, Jul 12, 2019
WHEN ATTEMPTING TO START CAR, IT CLICKS BUT WILL NOT START. I HAD ROAD SIDE ASSISTANCE BOOT BATTERY AND GOT THE CAR TO START, I TOOK THE CAR TO AUTO ZONE TO TEST BATTERY THEY SAID BATTERY IS GOOD. WHEN I ATTEMPT TO TURN OFF THE CAR AND PUT THE CAR IN PARK I CAN REMOVE THE KEYS FROM IGNITION AND OPEN THE DOOR BUT THE CAR NEVER ACTUALLY POWERS COMPLETELY OFF, THE DASH BOARD LIGHTS ARE STILL ON AND MY CAR CHARGER IS STILL WORKING . AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS OF STARTING MY CAR AND SHIFTING TO PARK IT FINALLY DOES POWER ALL THE WAY OFF.

'TAKATA RECALL' CAR WAS STATIONARY I TRIED PUTTING CAR INTO DRIVE AND THE SHIFTER MOVED BUT TRANSMISSION STAYED IN REVERSE.
Other or unspecified, Engine, Jul 2, 2019
WHILE ATTEMPTING TO PULL OFF AFTER STARTING MY CAR (VEHICLE STATIONARY). THE GEAR SHIFT WOULD READ PARK ON THE DASH AND THE GEAR SHIFT WOULD NOT CHANGE REGARDLESS OF ME MOVING IT. AFTER CALLING MY MECHANIC THE INSPECTION SHOWED THE BUSHING CAME OFF. I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM FORD A FEW DAYS BEFORE ABOUT THE POTENTIAL WARNING OF THE BUSHING POSSIBLY DETERIORATING. I HAVE SPOKEN WITH MULTIPLE FORD REPS AND HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO GET AN APPOINTMENT AFTER BEING TOLD THAT WITH MY CAR BEING EFFECTED NOW, MY PROCESS OF BEING SEEN WOULD BE EXPEDITED. I WAS ALSO TOLD ABOUT HAVING RECEIVED COMPENSATION FOR A RENTAL OR LOANER CAR WHILE MY CAR IS UNABLE TO DRIVE. I THINK FORD IS GIVING ME THE RUN AROUND UNTIL THEY CAN FIND A SOLUTION BUT THAT DOES NOT CHANGE THE FACT THAT I HAVE BEEN EFFECTED TODAY. RICHMOND FORD LINCOLN REFUSED TO SERVICE ME AND TAKE MY CASE NUMBER WHILE BELITTLING CORPORATE THE ENTIRE WAY. I ALSO RECEIVED THE INCORRECT NAME FROM ONE EMPLOYEE. THIS RECALL PROCESS HAS BEEN EXCRUCIATING AND AS A FORD CONSUMER THIS BEING MY SECOND FORD. I AM DEBATING IF THE COMPANY EVEN VALUES ME, I DEFINITELY CAN'T TELL AFTER CONTINUALLY ASKING FOR AN UPDATE. THE LAST REPRESENTATIVE I SPOKE WITH SAID IT ISN'T HIS DEPARTMENT AND SOMEONE WOULD REACH OUT TO ME. HE SAID THAT THE DAY BEFORE. I DON'T KNOW WHAT MY NEXT STEPS ARE BUT FORD IS NOT ASSISTING DURING THIS RECALL SITUATION.

BUSHING IN THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTER CABLE
Steering, Other or unspecified, Jun 17, 2019
MY CAR HAS APPARENTLY BEEN UNDER A RECALL FROM FORD REGARDING THE STEERING WHEEL SINCE MARCH OF 2018. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO CRAIN FORD TO BE SERVICED MULTIPLE TIMES SINCE 2018 AND WAS NEVER TOLD ABOUT THE RECALL. I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO CRAIN ON THURSDAY NIGHT AFTER AN ISSUE WITH THE GEAR SHIFT. UPON DOING SOME RESEARCH ON THE NHTSA WEBSITE ON FRIDAY, I FOUND THAT MY CAR IS NOW UNDER 2 DIFFERENT RECALLS. I WAS TOLD FRIDAY THAT MY CAR WOULD BE SERVICED FIRST THING MONDAY MORNING AND I WOULD BE CALLED AND UPDATED ON THE SITUATION. I ALSO WAS NOT OFFERED A LOANER CAR, AND UPON ASKING IF I COULD OBTAIN ONE, WAS TOLD THAT THEY WERE COMPLETELY OUT. I HAVE SINCE HAD TO CALL THEM TWICE THIS MORNING, AND WAS PUT ON HOLD IN THE EXCESS OF 10 MINUTES EACH TIME. I AM CURRENTLY WAITING ON A CALL BACK TO DETERMINE WHAT TIME I WILL BE ABLE TO GO PICK UP MY CAR, IF I CAN AT ALL, TODAY. I HAVE BEEN WITHOUT A VEHICLE ALL WEEKEND. I AM CURRENTLY HAVING TO MISS WORK BECAUSE I DO NOT HAVE MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION TO GET THERE. I AM VERY UNSATISFIED WITH FORD, AND CRAIN FORD OF LITTLE ROCK.

CAR DOES NOT MOVE WHEN SHIFTED TO 'D' DRIVE. TRANSMISSION TICKS. THEN THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON, CAR DRIVES FOR A MOMENT THEN JUST STOPS
Other or unspecified, May 19, 2019
MY VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY AND WHEN I DECIDED TO SWITCH GEAR INTO DRIVE I REALIZED IT WOULD GO INTO GEAR CORRECTLY I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT ELSE TO DO SO I GOT MY CAR TOWED TO GET OUT OF A PRIVATELY OWNED PARKING LOT. I LOOKED UP TO SEE IF THERE WAS A RECALL I DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT AND IT'S SO CRAZY BECAUSE THE RECALL JUST ANNOUNCED A FEW DAYS AGO.
Other or unspecified, May 17, 2019
THE BUSHING THAT ATTACHES TO THE SHIFTER CABLE BROKE FROM THE TRANSMISSION, WHICH MADE MY CAR APPEAR TO BE IN PARK, HOWEVER, IT WAS NOT. I WAS PUMPING GAS, WHEN I WAS DONE, I TURNED MY CAR ON AND WENT TO TAKE IT OUT OF PARK AND IT WOULD NOT MOVE, SHOWING MY CAR WAS IN ANOTHER GEAR, WHICH CAUSED MY CAR TO ROLL FORWARD ALMOST SLAMMING INTO THE GAS STATION. THE PARKING BRAKE WAS NOT APPLIED UNTIL AFTER THIS HAPPENED. THIS LEFT US STRANDED FOR OVER 8 HOURS IN SNOW, MY CAR WAS NOT TOWED UNTIL THE NEXT DAY. IT TOOK UNTIL THE NEXT MORNING FOR FORD TO HELP WITH TOWING, I WAS TOLD I WAS OUT OF LUCK BASICALLY BECAUSE OF OTHER WRECKS. I THEN HAD A TOWING BILL TO PAY FOR. I ALSO HAVE A BILL FOR REPAIRS THAT I HAVE REFUSED TO PAY BECAUSE OF THE RECALL (THEY SAID MY CAR WAS NOT ON THE LIST, ONE MECHANIC SAYS HE KNOWS MINE SHOULD BE BECAUSE THIS IS A HUGE KNOWN ISSUE). I CALLED THE HOTLINE AND DID NOT GET ANYWHERE, THEY WERE RUDE. I WAS ADVISED IF THIS HIT THE RECALL LIST, THEN I WOULD BE REIMBURSED. HOWEVER, PRIOR TO THIS AND STILL, WHEN YOU TOUCH THE BRAKES, THERE IS A NOISE IN THE SHIFTER, WHICH HAS BEEN REPAIRED A FEW TIMES, THEN I'M TOLD THERE IS NO PERMANENT FIX FOR IT, IT WILL KEEP DOING THIS AFTER EVERY REPAIR. WHY? I FEEL UNSAFE FOR MY CHILDREN AND MYSELF IN THIS CAR, GRANTED I LOVE THE FORD FUSION COMFORT AND HOW IT RIDES SMOOTH. NOT ONLY HAVE I HAD THESE ISSUES, I'VE PUT 3 SETS OF BRAND NEW TIRES ON IT, YET EVERY TIME I'M TOLD THERE IS NO ISSUE WITH THE ALIGNMENT OR ANYTHING. I SHOULD NOT NEED NEW TIRES AFTER 10,000 MILES! IF I COULD TRADE THIS IN, I WOULD BECAUSE IT'S PUT ME IN DEBT WITH 3 SETS OF TIRES AND TOWINGS.

I HAVE JUST RECENTLY PURCHASED MY 2016 FORD FUSION AWD VEHICLE AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS COME ON. I HAD A PROFESSIONAL SCANNER RUN THE CODE AND IT HAS TO DO WITH FAULTY EMISSION SENSORS NEAR THE GAS TANK, WHICH I HAVE HEARD ARE COMMON FOR THESE VEHICLES. NO RECALL MEANS I'M OUT $300 AFTER JUST PURCHASING A BRAND NEW "USED" VEHICLE.

VEHICLE WAS REFLECTING IN PARK ON THE SHIFTER, BUT THE CAR WAS STILL IN DRIVE AND ROLLING WHILE IN A FAST FOOD DRIVE THRU. THE SHIFTER GOT LOCKED EVENTUALLY IN PARK BUT CAR WAS STILL MOVING. HAD IT TOWED AND THEN CAR WOULDN'T START DUE TO SHIFTER BEING LOCKED. BUSHINGS AROUND TRANSMISSION SHIFTER WERE BROKEN. ON SECOND OCCASSION WENT TO START CAR AND WOULD NOT START DUE TO BUSHINGS ON TRANSMISSION BEING BROKEN. MANUFACTURER RECALL 18S20 NHTSA RECALL # 18V471. FORD HAS REFUSED TO REIMBURSE ME OR FIX THIS ISSUE. IT HAS COST OVER $300 IN UNPLANNED EXPENSES AS WELL AS SAFETY ISSUES. CAN PROVIDE DOCUMENTATION UPON REQUEST

I HAD TO ENGAGE THE EMERGENCY BREAK TO STOP THE CAR FROM ROLLING. I HAD TO CALL FOR A TOW AND THE AFTER MY MECHANIC LOOKED FOR THE PROBLEM HE FOUND THAT THE SHIFT LINKAGE BUSHING WAS MISSING AND THE CABLE HAD DISENGAGED. AFTER CALLING THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY THEY SAID THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM (RECALL # 18S20) BUT MY CAR IS NOT ON THE LIST FOR REPAIR. I WAS TOLD THERE WAS NO RECALL ON THE PART AND ALSO TOLD THE DEALER WASN'T RESPONSIBLE FOR A PART THAT WAS BROKE WHEN THEY SOLD ME THE VEHICLE TO BEGIN WITH.
