CROSS TRAFFIC SYSTEM FAULT AND BLIND SPOT SYSTEM FAULT WARNINGS INTERMITTENTLY APPEAR. WHEN THIS HAPPENS THE CLIMATE CONTROL, ENTERTAINMENT CONTROL SHUTS OFF. ALL WINDOWS OTHER THAN THE DRIVER'S WINDOW CANNOT BE OPERATED FROM THE DRIVER'S CONTROL. OTHER CONTROLS ON THE TOUCHSCREEN BECOME INOPERABLE. THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS WILL TURN ON AND SWIPE ONCE OR TWICE EVEN THOUGH THERE IS NO MOISTURE AND LOW HUMIDITY. THESE THINGS WILL HAPPEN WHILE DRIVING AND THEN GO BACK TO NORMAL OPERATION WHILE DRIVING TWO TO 20 MINUTES LATER. MY CONCERN IS THAT THERE IS A MODULE OR SYSTEM THAT IS MALFUNCTIONING AND WHILE IT HASN'T BEEN A SAFETY ISSUE YET, I WORRY THAT AT SOME POINT I MAY BE DRIVING AND THE ERRORS MAY CAUSE LOSS OF STEERING OR BRAKING OR ENGINE TO TURN OFF OR ACCELERATE OR LIGHTS MAY TURN OFF AT NIGHT WHICH WOULD HAVE A POTENTIAL TO INJURE OR CAUSE A FATAL OCCURRENCE TO MYSELF, MY FAMILY OR AN INNOCENT PERSON THAT HAPPENS TO BE NEAR ME. THESE ISSUES HAVE BEEN GOING ON FOR QUITE AWHILE AND NO ONE CAN SEEM TO FIND A SOLUTION. IT WAS LOOKED AT BY A FORD DEALER, INDEPENDENT MECHANICS AND REPORTED TO FORD TO ESTABLISH A RECORD WITH THEM. ONE MECHANIC FEELS IT IS ALL RELATED TO THE BCM BODY CONTROL MODULE. I AM GIVING A DATE BELOW BECAUSE THAT IS REQUIRED. THE ISSUES BEGAN PRIOR TO THAT DATE AND MANY TIMES SINCE. THAT IS THE DATE WE STARTED KEEPING RECORDS.

MY VEHICLES CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE LIGHT APPEARED THE CAR BEGAN TO LOSE POWER, BECOME SLUGGISH AND SLOW TO ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE STOPPED ON THE EXPRESSWAY AND TOWED TO A REPAIR SHOP (DELKERS AUTOMOTIVE 12198 LEWIS AVE, TEMPERANCE, MI 48182) WHO LOOKED AT THE VEHICLE AND EXPLAINED TO ME THAT THERE WAS LEAKING ENGINE COOLANT INTO THE CYLINDER THAT CAUSED THE ENGINE TO OVERHEAT AND CRACK. THERE WAS COMPLETE ENGINE FAILURE AND I WOULD NEED A NEW ENGINE AT 73,000 MILES. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO BRONDES FORD AT 5545 SECOR ROAD TOLEDO, OH ON AUGUST 28TH. BRONDES FORD VERIFIED WHAT DELKER'S AUTOMOTIVE HAD FOUND, THE COOLENT LEAK INTO THE CYLINDER THAT CAUSED THE ENGINE TO CRACK. BRONDES FORD TOLD ME THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE AND THAT I SHOULD TRY TO FILE A CLAIM WITH FORD TO RECOUP SOME OF THE COST OF A NEW ENGINE AS I WAS OUTSIDE OF THE WARRANTY, AT 73K MILES. I WAS TOLD BY FORD WHEN CALLING IN TO MAKE A CLAIM THAT THEY WOULD NOT ASSIST ME WITH ANY KIND OF MONETARY HELP, EVEN THOUGH THE ISSUE IS A KNOWN ISSUE, BECAUSE THERE IS NO CURRENT RECALL. I HAVE NOW BEEN WITHOUT A VEHICLE FOR TWO MONTHS AS I DO NOT HAVE THE $8000.00 TO REPLACE THE ENGINE, AND HAVE RECEIVED NO HELP FROM FORD. IT IS UNACCEPTABLE THAT THIS ISSUE IS A KNOWN ISSUE AND NOTHING IS GETTING DONE ABOUT IT. THERE WAS A PREVIOUS SAFETY RECALL THAT ADDRESSES THE ENGINE ISSUE ON SAFETY RECALL # 17S09 FOR THE FORD FUSION 2013-2014 MODELS, AND THE FACT THAT THE ISSUE IS STILL HAPPENING IN LATER MODELS SHOWS THE ISSUE WAS NOT CORRECTED BY FORD, AND IS HONESTLY APPALLING THAT THEY CAN GET AWAY WITH IT.

IN JUNE OF 2020 A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT POPPED UP ON MY DASHBOARD; THEREFORE, I TOOK MY CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP TO BE DIAGNOSED. THEY ULTIMATELY UNCOVERED THAT THERE WAS A KNOWN ENGINE DEFECT WITH MY 2.0 L 4 CYLINDER ENGINE DUE TO A COOLANT LEAK. UNFORTUNATELY, MY VEHICLE IS WITHIN 2 MONTHS OUTSIDE OF THE CURRENT SAFETY RECALL. THERE IS AN ACTIVE RECALL ON ALL OF THE 1.5 L THAT COVERS 2014 THROUGH 2019; HOWEVER, THE RANGE ON MY 2016 2.0 L FUSION BEGINS IN 2017. I REACHED OUT TO FORD AND THEY INDICATED THAT EVEN THOUGH I AM WITHIN 1.5-2 MONTHS OUTSIDE OF THE RECALL THEY CANNOT ASSIST ME WITH FINANCING MY OVER $7,000 REQUIRED ENGINE REPLACEMENT AND I AM QUITE DISAPPOINTED THAT THE RECALL HAS NOT BEEN EXTENDED YET. FURTHER, I AM WRITING THIS AS OF 11/1 AND IT HAS BEEN NEARLY 5 MONTHS SINCE I DROPPED MY CAR OFF AT THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY INDICATED THAT THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHEN THEY WILL BE ABLE TO FIX MY ENGINE AS THERE ARE OVER 8,000 OTHER RE-MANUFACTURED ENGINES ON BACK-ORDER DUE TO SIMILAR ISSUES. THE COOLANT LEAK ISSUE IS AN INCREDIBLY SERIOUS ISSUE AS IT COULD CAUSE MY ENGINE TO STALL OUT ON THE HIGH-WAY OR CITY STREETS. I HAVE SEEN COUNTLESS OTHER PEOPLE REPORTING THE SAME PROBLEM, AND I HOPE THAT OUR VOICES WILL SOON BE HEARD SO THAT WE CAN RECEIVE APPROPRIATE COMPENSATION FROM THE MANUFACTURER FOR THEIR POOR DESIGN AND BUILD. FOR REFERENCE ON THE TWO EXISTING ENGINE RECALLS NOTED ABOVE, PLEASE REFER TO THE FORD TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS 19-2346 AND 19-2139. THANK YOU

THERE IS A COOLANT LEAK IN CYLINDER 2. OF MY 2L ECOBOOST REQUIRING A COMPLETE LONG BLOCK REPLACEMENT. THIS CAN CAUSE THE CAR TO OVERHEAT AND/OR RUN UNRELIABLY. I HAVE HAD TO PULL OVER ON THE SIDE OF A BUSY HIGHWAY TO ADD COOLANT. THIS WILL NO DOUBT LEAVE ME STRANDED ONE DAY SOON, AS THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM FOR MANY OF FORD'S ECOBOOST ENGINES YET THEY HAVE NOT RECALLED THESE FAULTY ENGINES. AND I CAN NOT AFFORD AN $8,000 REPAIR THERE IS A FORD TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN 19-2346 DATE OF ISSUE DECEMBER19 2019

SLOWING VEHICLES IN TRAFFIC ARE DANGEROUS. ENGINE LIGHT CODES READ MISFIRE CYLINDER 2. THE CAR IS FAMILY'S ONLY SOURCE OF TRANSPORTATION. WE CANT AFFORD TO PURCHASE A NEW ENGINE FROM FORD AND FORD CANT GUARANTEE A NEW MOTOR WONT REPEAT THESE ISSUES. I ENTERED MY VEHICLE AND CLOSED THE DOOR. WHILE BACKING OUT OF THE PARKING LOT A WARNING SOUNDED. I LOOKED AT THE DASH AND THE WARNING LIGHT INDICATED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE DOOR WAS OPEN. I PULLED THE DOOR SHUT AND ATTEMPTED TO CLOSE IT BUT IT WOULDN'T STAY SHUT. I PUT THE CAR IN "PARK", GOT OUT AND ATTEMPTED SEVERAL MORE TIMES TO CLOSE THE DOOR. NO MATTER HOW I TRIED, THE DOOR WOULD NOT LATCH. I WAS 53 MILES FROM HOME AND THE ONLY WAY TO GET THERE WAS TO DRIVE. I THEN TOOK AN ADJUSTABLE DOG LEASH, SLIPPED IT THROUGH THE ARMREST ON THE DOOR, THEN LOOPED IT AROUND THE STEERING COLUMN. THIS PROVIDED A MEANS FOR ME TO HOLD THE DOOR CLOSED WHILE I TRAVELED ON A HIGHWAY, THEN THE INTERSTATE TO GET HOME. THIS WAS VERY DISTURBING TO ME BECAUSE THE LATCH WAS FINE WHEN I DROVE FROM HOME. WHAT COULD HAVE HAPPENED HAD I BEEN ON THE HIGHWAY OR INTERSTATE WHEN THE LATCH FAILED.

MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WHEN I STARTED MY CAR TO GO TO WORK ONE MORNING. I GOT MY CODE READER AND PLUGGED IT IN, IT SHOWED P0301 AND P0304 ( GENERIC CODE FOR MISFIRE ON CYLINDERS 1 AND 4). I FIGURED I HAD BAD SPARK PLUGS OR IGNITION COILS SO I REPLACED THEM WITH ALL NEW PARTS. DROVE THE CAR FOR ABOUT TWO DAYS AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT RETURNED AGAIN WHEN STARTING MY CAR. PLUGGED THE CODE READER BACK IN, SAME CODE READINGS. MY CAR IS STILL UNDER AN EXTENDED WARRANTY PLAN SO I TOOK IT TO A REPAIR SHOP. THEY RAN A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND FOUND THE SAME CODES. AFTER A COUPLE OF HOURS, THEY INFORMED ME THAT THEY WERE GOING TO REPLACE THE FUEL SENSORS BECAUSE THEY BELIEVED THAT WAS THE PROBLEM. THEY REPLACED THE SENSORS AND CLEARED THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND I WAS ON MY WAY. A FEW DAYS LATER THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK ON WHEN I STARTED MY CAR. I CONTACTED THE REPAIR SHOP AGAIN AND THEY TOLD ME TO BRING IT BACK IN. I DROPPED THE CAR OFF TO THEM FOR 5 DAYS. WHEN THEY CALLED ME BACK THEY SAID THEY WERE UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE AND I SHOULD TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT I NEED TO REPLACE THE ENGINE BECAUSE I HAVE A CRACKED CYLINDER THAT IS LEAKING COOLANT INTO THE ENGINE. THE WARRANTY COMPANY IS TRYING TO DENY MY CLAIM, STATING THAT THE ENGINE OVERHEATED DUE TO IMPROPER MAINTENANCE. I CHANGE MY OWN OIL AND I CHANGE IT WELL BEFORE THE MANUFACTURER'S RECOMMENDATION. I FOLLOW ALL THE SPECIFICATIONS AND USE PREMIUM PRODUCTS SO I KNOW THAT IT IS NOT FROM IMPROPER MAINTENANCE. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH I FOUND THAT THIS SEEMS LIKE A COMMON PROBLEM AMONG THESE ENGINE TYPES AND I HAVE EVEN FOUND A FEW WEBSITES WHERE PEOPLE ARE TRYING TO START A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT. THIS ENTIRE EXPERIENCE/PROCESS HAS BEEN A GIANT HEADACHE. HOPEFULLY THERE IS A RESOLUTION IN THE NEAR FUTURE.
