BACKUP CAMERA GUIDELINES HAVE DISAPPEARED AND THE SCREEN GOES BLACK AT TIMES
Steering, Suspension, Jan 2, 2019
ON 1/2/2019 I WAS DRIVING TO WORK IN THE MORNING. THE FRONT END STARTED WOBBLING RAPIDLY AFTER HITTING A POTHOLE ON THE HIGHWAY. MY SPEED WAS APPROXIMATELY 70 M.P.H. I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE ACCELERATOR AND SLOWLY BRAKED. THE WOBBLE DID NOT STOP UNTIL I WAS AROUND 55 M.P.H. I WAS NOT ABLE TO GET OUT OF THE CENTER LANE BECAUSE TRAFFIC WAS HEAVY AND RUNNING PAST ME IN BOTH LANES. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS OCCURRED. THE FIRST TIME I JUST THOUGHT IS WAS A FLUKE BECAUSE I HIT TWO POTHOLES IN A ROW. THAT HAPPENED ABOUT ONE MONTH AGO. I AM MAKING AN APPOINTMENT WITH MY DEALER FOR A SERVICE INSPECTION. I HAVE FELT SMALL WOBBLES SINCE I GOT THE VEHICLE. THESE TWO WERE SUSTAINED AND ONLY STOPPED AFTER SLOWING TO AROUND 55 MPH.
Suspension, Jan 2, 2019
THE JEEP STEERING WHEEL AND FRONT END SHAKE, AT TIMES VIOLENTLY. IT SHOULD BE NOTED THERE IS NO PARTICULAR SCENARIO FOR THE OCCURRENCE, ONLY WHEN IN MOTION, AND IS RANDOM.
Other or unspecified, Jan 2, 2019
2018 JEEP WRANGLER JL. FRONT END WILL SHAKE VIOLENTLY ON OCCASION WHEN GOING OVER 55 MPH- HAS HAPPENED 4 TIMES IN THE LAST WEEK. I INITIALLY THOUGHT I HAD A FLAT TIRE AND IT FEELS LIKE THE TIRES ARE GOING TO FALL OFF. IT WILL CONTINUE UNTIL VEHICLE SLOWS DOWN WHICH IS DIFFICULT TO DO ON THE HIGHWAY!! THIS IS A STOCK VEHICLE WITH ONLY 2800 MILES ON IT. I'VE SEEN OTHERS DESCRIBE IT AS A "DEATH WOBBLE" AND IT'S DEFINITELY SCARY WHEN IT HAPPENS. SEEMS LIKE OTHERS ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE AND NOTHING IS BEING DONE ABOUT IT. I'VE OWNED 6 JEEPS AND HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED THIS.
Steering, Electronic stability control (ESC), Jan 2, 2019
ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS I HAVE EXPERIENCED WHAT IS KNOWN AS THE "DEATH WOBBLE" WHERE THE JEEP FEELS LIKE IT IS OFF BALANCE AND SHIFTING FROM SIDE TO SIDE; ALMOST LIKE YOU ARE SLIDING ON ICE. THIS HAPPENS AT A RATE OF SPEED OF 45 MPH OR LESS. MY JEEP HAS 5,400 MILES ON IT AND HAS NEVER BEEN MODIFIED.
Steering, Jan 1, 2019
NOW THAT IT'S EARLY WINTER AND HIGHWAYS ARE BECOMING ROUGH I'M EXPERIENCING WHAT IS REFERRED TO AS THE 'DEATH WOBBLE' ON MY NEW JL WRANGLER WITH 10,000 MILES AND NO ALTERATIONS. I TOOK A TRIP AND EXPERIENCED 4 SEPARATE EXTREME STEERING WOBBLES AT HIGHWAY SPEED WHERE I HAD TO SLOW DOWN BELOW 55 MPH TO GET IT TO STOP. ONE TIME I WAS PASSING A SEMI WITH 2 VEHICLES BEHIND ME THAT WERE NOT TO IMPRESSED WITH MY SLOWING DOWN IN THE PASSING LANE WHERE THEY ALMOST HIT ME FROM BEHIND. THE NEXT DAY I EXPERIENCED ANOTHER GETTING ON THE BYPASS IN TOWN ON THE ON RAMP FROM HITTING A CHUCK HOLE. I HAVE TO LIMIT MY SPEED TO UNDER 62 MPH TO REDUCE THE ISSUE. I'M PAYING WAY TOO MUCH FOR THIS VEHICLE TO HAVE THIS SCARY OF AN ISSUE. THE WOBBLE ISN'T AS SCARY AS SLOWING DOWN IN TRAFFIC RANDOMLY AT HIGHWAY SPEED. THIS IS A MAJOR FLAW.
Steering, Jan 1, 2019
COMPLETELY STOCK JEEP JL SAFARI WITH 1469 MILES HAS SEVERE FRONT END SHAKING AT SPEEDS BETWEEN 70-75 WHEN HITTING OVERPASS HIGHWAY JOINTS OR DRAIN JOINTS. I HAVE NOT REPLICATED THIS AT LOWER SPEEDS. IT STOPS WHEN YOU SLOW DOWN WHICH COULD BE A SAFETY HAZARD IN TRAFFIC AT SUCH SPEED.
Suspension, Jan 1, 2019
WAS ON THE EXPRESSWAY AND IT STARTED SHAKING TERRIBLY WHEN I HIT A BUMP. HAD TO PULL OVER. HAPPENED THREE TIMES TODAY. I'VE NOTICED IT RANDOMLY ON OTHER RDS BUT NEVER THIS BAD.
Steering, Jan 1, 2019
EXPERIENCED DEATH WOBBLE TODAY. I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY GOING ABOUT 70-75 MPH AND MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKED AND STARTED VIOLENTLY VIBRATING. I FELT THE VIBRATION FROM UNDER THE SEATS AS WELL. THE ONLY TIME IT STOPPED WAS WHEN I SLOWED DOWN TO ABOUT 40 MPH. I COULDN'T MOVE THE STEERING WHEEL AT ALL.

FRONT END WOBBLES VIOLENTLY AT SPEEDS OVER 45 MILES AN HOUR, CONTINUAL STEERING WHEEL INPUT TO KEEP THE JEEP IN LANE
Steering, Suspension, Wheels, Dec 31, 2018
MY BRAND NEW 2018 WRANGLER JL HAS THE "DEATH WOBBLE": WHEN TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND I HIT A SHARP BUMP, THE FRONT END SHAKES UNCONTROLLABLY. I NEED TO TAKE MY FOOT OFF THE GAS, GET INTO THE BREAKDOWN LANE AND GO DOWN TO CLOSE TO ZERO MPH BEFORE THE SHAKING STOPS, THEN I NEED TO RE-MERGE INTO TRAFFIC. VERY SCARY (I USUALLY HAVE FAMILY IN CAR WITH ME) AND VERY DANGEROUS. IT'S IN THE SHOP NOW. PARTS ARE ON BACKORDER AND THEY WON'T RELEASE IT TO ME UNTIL ITS FIXED--I PRESUME B/C ITS TOO DANGEROUS. I EXPERIENCED THE DEATH WOBBLE 7 TIMES BETWEEN WHEN I DROVE IT OFF THE LOT AND WAS ABLE TO SECURE AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALER. *DT*JB

EXTREMELY LOOSE STEERING WHICH MAKES IT NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO CONTROL. AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, IT'S ABSOLUTELY DANGEROUS. MY WIFE IS SO SCARED SHE WON'T EVEN DRIVE IT. THERE IS CONSTANT CORRECTING AND IF THE ROAD ISN'T PERFECTLY FLAT, YOU'LL HAVE TO HOLD THE STEERING WHEEL AT THE 10:00 OR 2:00 TO KEEP THE VEHICLE STRAIGHT. IMAGINE DOING THIS ON THE INTERSTATE AT 70MPH. I'M A 10YR PLUS WRANGLER OWNER AND I LOVE THEM, BUT I'M GETTING RID OF THIS THING IF JEEP DOESN'T ADDRESS IT.
Steering, Dec 31, 2018
AT SPEEDS AROUND 65 MPH THE FRONT STEERING STARTS SHAKING UNCONTROLLABLY AFTER HITTING A BUMP OR DRIVING OVER A BRIDGE WITH AN EXPANSION JOINT. I HAVE TO SLOW DOWN AND PULL OVER QUICKLY. EXTREMELY UNSAFE. THE DEALERSHIP AT FIRST WAS "SURPRISED" TO HEAR OF THE PROBLEM BUT FINALLY SAID IT WAS A KNOWN ISSUE. THEY REPLACED THE STABILIZER ROD. IT JUST HAPPENED AGAIN 1 WEEK AFTER THE FIX. ~6,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. IT SOUNDS LIKE THE KNOWN "DEATH WOBBLE" I AM NOW FINDING DESCRIBED BY A LOT OF OTHER PEOPLE. *DT CONSUMER STATED DEALERSHIP FIXED THE PROBLEM ON THE SECOND TRY.*JB

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 JEEP WRANGLER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH OVER A BUMP IN THE ROAD, THE VEHICLE SHOOK PROFUSELY. THERE WAS NO WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO LAWLESS CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (888-384-4956, LOCATED AT 196 LEXINGTON ST, WOBURN, MA 01801) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE DAMPER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED; HOWEVER, THE PART WAS ON BACKORDER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT SOMEONE WOULD BE SENT TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT NO ONE WAS SENT AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 3,000.

STEERING IS LOOSE AND UNRESPONSIVE ,JEEP WONDERS INTO LANES ON HIGHWAYS, HARD TO KEEP STRAIGHT, CONSTANT STEERING WHEEL INPUT NEEDED TO MAINTAIN A STRAIGHT LINE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, AFTER HITTING SOME PUMPS AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THE FRONT WHEELS SHAKE AND THE STEERING WHEEL OCCILATES , IN SOME CASE VILANTLY CAUSEING TEMPORARILY LOSE IN CONTROL OF JEEP. CAN TURN STEERING WHEEL SEVERAL INCHES IN BOTH DIRECTIONS WITHOUT THE WHEELS TURNING.UNKNOWN AS TO WHAT THE PROBLEM IS, I HAVE BEEN PULLED OVER BY POLICE WHO THOUGHT I WAS A DRUNK DRIVER DUE TO NOT MAINTAINING A STRAIGHT LINE. ALMOST INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT WITH MY CHILDREN IN CAR, HIT A BUMP AT HIGHWAY SPEED AND THE WHEELS SHOOK AND STEERING WHEEL OCCILATED AND COULD NOT MAINTAIN MY LANE, WAS PULLED OVER BY DRIVER IN OTHER CAR AS WE THOUGHT WE HAD STRUCK BUT LUCKILY NOT, MY DEALER HAS ALREADY REPLACED SEVARAL PARTS BUT THEY CANNOT FIX PROBLEM...STILL AT DEALER WITH NO HOPE OF BEING FIXED

WHILE DRIVING HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND HITTING A BUMP OR GOING ACROSS A RAILROAD TRACK. I GET SUDDEN VIBRATION IN THE FRONT END END AND THROUGH MY STEERING WHEEL ALSO KNOWN AS THE DEATH WOBBLE. VERY DANGEROUS ESPECIALLY IF GOING IN A CORNER ON AN INTERSTATE.

WHILE DRIVING STEERING WANDERS AND DRIFTS ALL OVER. CONSTANTLY HAVING TO SEE SAW WHEEL BACK AND FORTH TO STAY STRAIGHT. WORSE ON TWO LANE OR CROWNED ASPHALT ROADS.
Steering, Dec 29, 2018
AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS (60+ MPH), THE ENTIRE STEERING COLUMN AND JEEP SHAKES AFTER I PASS OVER A BRIDGE. THE ONLY WAY TO COME OUT OF THE SHAKE IS TO LOWER MY SPEED DOWN TO ABOUT 40 MPH WHICH IS UNSAFE WHEN IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED (~10,000 MILES ON MY NEW JEEP) WITH INTENSITY, I WOULD HAVE LOST CONTROL OF MY VEHICLE IF I DID NOT HAVE BOTH HANDS ON THE WHEEL. I WAS TRULY SCARED. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED MY STEERING WHEEL DAMPER WHICH HELPED FOR A LITTLE WHILE. ABOUT 2 MONTHS LATER (~13,000 MILES ON MY JEEP), IT HAPPENED AGAIN. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY ARE LOOKING IT OVER AGAIN.
Steering, Dec 29, 2018
WHEN YOU HIT AN IMPERFECTION IN THE ROAD YOU GET DEATH WOBBLE IN THE STEERING WHEEL WHICH SHAKES THE WHOLE VEHICLE AND YOU HAVE TO COME TO BRING THE VEHICLE TOTO A COMPLETE STOP TO GET IT TO STOP. ONE TIME WAS CROSSING RAILROAD TRACKS IS AT45 MPH THE NEXT TIME WAS ON THE FREEWAY AT 70 MPH VERY UNSAFE
Steering, Suspension, Other or unspecified, Dec 29, 2018
SEVERE DEATH WOBBLE. VIOLENT SHAKING WILL NOT STOP UNLESS I PULL OVER AND COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS WHEN ON THE HIGHWAY.
Steering, Suspension, Dec 29, 2018
ON THE HIGHWAY WHILE TRAVELING STRAIGHT AHEAD AT SPEEDS ABOVE 65 MPH ANY TIME THE VEHICLE IS INTRODUCED TO A BUMP, DIP IN THE HIGHWAY, TRANSITION TO A BRIDGE OR CHANGE IN PAVEMENT THE STEERING WHEEL SHAKES VIOLENTLY AND THE VEHICLE IS VIRTUALLY UNCONTROLLABLE. IN ORDER TO GET THE VEHICLE TO STOP SHAKING SPEED MUST BE REDUCED TO 30 MPH OR LOWER. THE VEHICLE IS NOT DRIVABLE AT HIGHWAY SPEED AS EVERY BUMP, DIP OR ROAD TRANSITION CAUSES THIS SYMPTOM.
Suspension, Dec 28, 2018
THE STEERING WHEEL AND FRONT END WILL START SHAKING AT HIGHER SPEED AFTER HITTING SOME SMALL BUMP. IT'S GETTING SO BAD I'VE TO SLOW WAY DOWN ON THE FREEWAY TO GET THE JEEP BACK UNDER CONTROL. IT WOBBLES FROM ONE SIDE OF THE LANE TO THE OTHER. IT'S AT THE DEALERSHIP NOW BUT THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT'SS TRULY WRONG WITH THE JEEP. THE JEEP IS NEW WITH LESS THEN 13000 MILES. IT'S ALSO THE NEW JL MODLE
Suspension, Dec 27, 2018
VIOLENT SHAKE IN STEERING WHEEL AND THE BEGINNING OF LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. SPECIFICALLY AT HIGHWAY SPEED WHEN YOU DRIVE OVER A BUMP SUCH AS A BRIDGE EXPANSION JOINT, THE STEERING WHEEL WILL BEGIN SHAKING BACK AND FORTH VIOLENTLY. THIS RESONATES THROUGHOUT THE VEHICLE. IT CAN CONTINUE FOR IN EXCESS OF 15 SECONDS AND I NEED TO REDUCE THE JEEP'S SPEED TO LESS THAN 40MPH, AT WHICH TIME THE SHAKING GENERALLY STOPS. SLOWING TO 40MPH IN HIGHWAY TRAFFIC IS DANGEROUS TO ME AND OTHERS ON THE HIGHWAY. IF IN A LOW TRACTION SITUATION (SUCH AS SNOW) THIS WOULD LIKELY RESULT IN TOTAL LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE JEEP. THIS HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER 3 TIMES FOR THIS PROBLEM. BECAUSE THE DEALER IS LOCATED IN A RURAL AREA THEY HAVE BEEN UNWILLING TO DRIVE TO A HIGHWAY AND THEREFORE HAVE NOT REPLICATED THE PROBLEM. THE LAST TIME I WENT TO THE DEALER I SHOWED THE DEALERSHIP MANAGER A VIDEO OF THIS OCCURRING, AND HE WAS APPALLED AND SAID IT SHOULD NOT HAPPEN AND THAT I SHOULD CALL JEEP CUSTOMER CARE WHICH I DID. I HAVE CALLED ON DECEMBER 1,12,19,26 AND 27. THE CASE HAS BEEN ASSIGNED TO A CASE MANAGER, BUT THEY HAVE NOT CALLED ME. I HAVE ATTEMPTED TO ESCALATE TO A MANAGER, BUT I HAVE TOLD THEY ARE BUSY AND NOTHING THEY CAN DO, JEEP HAS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE WITH MY CAR AND THEY HAVE TO DATE REFUSED TO EVEN CALL ME BACK ( I HAVE ALSO CONFIRMED MY PHONE NUMBERS EACH TIME I HAVE CALLED AND HAD THEM RECORDED IN THE CASE RECORD).

STEERING AND CONTROL DRASTICALLY IMPAIRED WHEN HITTING A BUMP OVER 50 MPH. CAR AND STEERING WHEEL VIOLENTLY SHAKE AND CAUSES ME TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. CAR IS STOCK WITH 0 MODIFICATIONS AND LESS THAT 700 MILES ON IT. WHOEVER SAYS THIS IS NOT A SAFETY CONCERN IS WRONG. I NEARLY CRASHED ON THE HIGHWAY GOING 55 MPH. FAMILY WILL NOT DRIVE WITH ME IN THE CAR ANYMORE DUE TO ISSUE. THIS IS A BRAND NEW CAR. HOW CAN THIS BE JUSTIFIED?
