  1. Steering, Oct 15, 2018

THE VEHICLE HAS EXCESSIVE PLAY IN THE STEERING. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE WANDERS AND EXCESSIVE STEERING WHEEL TRAVEL IS REQUIRED TO BRING THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE CENTER OF THE LANE. THIS OCCURS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION AND WHEN TRAVELING AT BOTH CITY AND HIGHWAY SPEEDS. IT IS A CONSTANT STRUGGLE TO KEEP THE VEHICLE CENTERED WHEN TRAVELING. THE ISSUE IS WORSE WHEN TRAVELING ON SLIGHTLY UNEVEN OR ABOVE NORMAL ROAD CROWN. THE STEERING WHEEL CAN BE CENTERED, OR CROOKED TO EITHER SIDE. THIS DEMONSTRATES THE EXCESSIVE PLAY IN THE WHEEL.

  2. Steering, Oct 15, 2018

LOOSE STEERING CAUSING VEHICLE DRIFTING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. I HAVE TO CONSTANTLY CORRECT THE VEHICLE FROM DRIFTING. EXTREME PLAY AND DEAD SPOTS IN STEERING WHEEL. THIS NEEDS TO HAPPEN IN ORDER TO MAINTAIN STRAIGHT LINE AND STAYING IN LANE. VEHICLE DRIFTS TOWARDS OTHER LANES AND VEHICLES WHICH IS VERY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. REQUIRES DRIVER TO CORRECT STEERING WHEEL TO STAY IN LANE CONSTANTLY.

  3. Other or unspecified, Oct 15, 2018

FRAME WELDS ARE PITTED, RUSTING, INCOMPLETE, AND HAVE NUMEROUS INCLUSIONS AND POROSITY. THIS IS ALL OVER THE FRAME. INCLUDED IS A PICTURE OF A WELD ON A BODY MOUNT. APPEARS TO BE CRACKED. THE DEALERSHIP WHERE WE BOUGHT THE VEHICLE AND JEEP BOTH LOOKED AT THE VEHICLE AND SAY IT IS SAFE AND NORMAL.

  4. Power train, Structure, Engine, Oct 15, 2018, fire

VEHICLE DRIVEN FO APPROXIMATELY 30 MINUTES WITH NO APPARENT ISSUES. AVERAGE SPEED ABOUT 40 TO 50 MPH. DRIVER SMELLED A CONCERNING ODOR, PULLED INTO A PARKING, GOT OUT OF VEHICLE AND NOTICED A FLAME. SHE CALLED 911AND VEHICLE BECAME FULLY ENGULFED. VEHICLE IS A TOTAL LOSS. AFTER SOME RESEARCH, IT APPEARS THIS IS AN ISSUE WITH JEEP.

  5. Structure, Oct 14, 2018

BRAND NEW 2018 JL WRANGLER RUBICON 2 DR OWNED FOR 2 WEEKS FRAME APPEARS TO BE SPRAY PAINTED ALL WELDS ARE RUSTED. NEVER BEEN IN THE RAIN OR EVEN WASHED. JEEP HAS 16 MILES ON IT. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS FOR ANY NEW VEHICLE. JEEP SHOULD HAVE ADDRESSED THIS ISSUE INSTEAD OF TRYING TO COVER IT UP WITH SPRAY PAINT THAT ISN'T STICKING ANYMORE.

  6. Steering, Suspension, Oct 14, 2018

VEHICLE SHAKES UNCONTROLLABLY BACK AND FORTH AFTER HITTING BUMP OR CHANGE IN PAVEMENT HEIGHT AT HIGHWAY SPEED (60 TO 70 MPH). THIS STARTED AFTER ROUGHLY 2800 MILES (6 WEEKS OF OWNERSHIP). THIS CAUSES A LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL AND FEELING THAT DRIVER WILL LOSE CONTROL OF VEHICLE. THIS HAS HAPPENED 4 TIMES IN LAST SIX DAYS. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DEALER WHO SAYS THEY CANNOT FIND PROBLEM OR RECREATE THIS LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL. AFTER HITTING BUMP YESTERDAY THE ONLY THING THAT STOPPED BACK AND FORTH SHAKING WAS TO PULL TO SIDE OF INTERSTATE HIGHWAY. THIS SITUATION IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. WHILE THIS LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL AND SHAKING DOES NOT OCCUR AT SLOWER SPEEDS (YET), I BELIEVE THIS VEHICLE IS COMPLETELY UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND WILL EVENTUALLY CAUSE A SERIOUS CRASH IF IT CANNOT BE FIXED.

  7. Steering, Oct 13, 2018

WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION THE STEERING IS VERY LOOSE. YOU CAN MOVE THE STEERING WHEEL LEFT AND RIGHT ABOUT 4 INCHES IN PLAY AND THE WHEELS NEVER TURN AT ALL. THIS MAKES DRIFTING, ESPECIALLY AT HIGH SPEEDS, A HUGE SAFETY RISK. YOU MUST OVERCORRECT THE WHEEL IN ORDER TO STAY IN YOUR LANE WHILE DRIVING. THE CASTER NUT AND GEAR BOX NUT SEEM TO COME FROM THE FACTORY EXTREMELY LOOSE CAUSING THIS POTENTIALLY LIFE THREATENING SAFETY HAZARD.

  8. Steering, Oct 13, 2018

AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS OVER 70MPH, THE STEERING BECOMES VAGUE TO THE POINT OF A LOSS OF FINE CONTROL. WITHOUT STEERING INPUT AND WITHOUT SIGNIFICANT CROSS WINDS, THE FRONT WHEELS WILL STEER QUICKLY FROM LEFT TO RIGHT AND BACK. THE CHANGE IN DIRECTION IS SO DRASTIC THAT ONSTANT AND CAREFUL ATTENTION IS REQUIRED TO AVOID UNEXPECTED LANE CHANGES. I'VE OWNED TWO OTHER WRANGLERS (2000 AND 2007) AND THIS IS NOT A CONDITION BASED ON STEERING GEOMETRY OR 4WD SYSTEMS. THIS IS A LIFE-THREATENINGLY DANGEROUS CONDITION AND REQUIRES IMMEDIATE GOVERNMENT OVERSIGHT AND INTERDICTION.

  9. Other or unspecified, Oct 13, 2018

I GOT BEHIND THE WHEEL OF A 2018 JEEP WRANGLER, ADJUSTED MY SEAT FOR OPTIMAL COMFORT, VISIBILITY, AND HANDS / FEET POSITION FOR SAFE OPERATION OF THE VEHICLE AND THEN NOTICED THAT THE DESIGN / POSITION OF THE DASH OBSTRUCTED THE VIEW OF THE SPEEDOMETER AND TACHOMETER (AMONG OTHER INFO) WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION (I WAS NOT IN MOTION). THIS OBVIOUSLY CAN CAUSE ISSUES WITH SAFE OPERATION. I POSTED THIS OBSERVATION IN A JEEP WRANGLER FORUM TO SEE IF I'M THE ONLY PERSON WITH THIS PROBLEM. AS OF TODAY THE POLL SITS AT 53% OF USERS HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. SEE HERE: HTTPS://WWW.JLWRANGLERFORUMS.COM/FORUM/THREADS/POLL-IN-YOUR-BEST-SEATING-POSITION-IS-YOUR-VIEW-OF-THE-WRANGLERS-DASH-GAUGES-CUT-OFF-IN-ANY-WAY.15958/#POST-390053

  10. Suspension, Other or unspecified, Oct 13, 2018

THE WELDS ON THE REAR SUSPENSION ARE HORRIBLE. THERE ARE LARGE PIECES OF SLAG WHEREVER THERE ARE WELDS. THERE ARE ALREADY PLACES WHERE SOME SLAG HAS FALLEN OFF AND SPOTS HAVE STARTED TO RUST. THE ENTIRE FRAME HAS SLAG ON IT AND HUGE MESSY WELDS. THERE ARE WELDS MISSING ALONG THE FRAME. THE FRAME WAS DENTED AND HIT WITH SOMETHING BEFORE BEING INSTALLED. ALL OF THESE THINGS CAN LEAD TO WEAKENING IN THE METAL OR FAILURE IN THE WELDS.

MY VIN IS LISTED UNDER UA5 RECALL ABOUT THE TRACK BAR WELDS. I FEEL VERY UNCOMFORTABLE ABOUT THE POSSIBILITY THE WELDS ARE WEAK OR NOT DONE PROPERLY AND POSSIBLY BREAK OFF. I HAVE NOT HEARD BACK FROM JEEP/CHRYSLER/FCA AT ALL. AFTER CONTACTING THE DEALERSHIP, THEY HAD NOT IDEA THIS WAS AN ISSUE. I'M NOT CONCERNED ABOUT THE STEERING WHEEL FEELING 'LOOSE' AS OTHERS SAY. THE PLAY DOESN'T BOTHER ME. BUT THE WELD ISSUE IS A CONCERN. I LOOKED AT THEM VISUALLY BUT I'M NO EXPERT. WHILE THEY DON'T LOOK CLEAN I DON'T KNOW IF THEY'RE STRUCTURALLY SOUND.

  14. Steering, Oct 11, 2018

MY WELDS TO THE TRACK BAR ARE A MAJOR CONCERN TO ME AND MY FAMILY. THEY DON'T LOOK TO BE COMPLIANT AND I'M CONCERNED THAT THEY MAY BREAK. THERE'S A RECALL AND MY VIN DOESN'T SEEM TO BE IN THE CURRENT RECALL BUT THEY LOOK WORSE THAN ONES THAT ARE CURRENTLY IN THE RECALL LIST. PLEASE SEE ATTACHMENTS.

POOR FRAME WELDS AT CRITICAL POINTS. I HAVE WELDS THAT YOU CAN STICK YOUR FINGER NAILS BEHIND. HAVE POOR WELD AT TRACK BAR AND SHOCK MOUNTS. SLAG AND POOR PENETRATION. HAVE SPOTS WHERE BURN THROUGH OCCURS AND RUSTS. VEHICLE CLICKS AND POPS DURING TURNS. STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY IS COMPROMISED..

NON STOP CORRECTING.SOMETHING HAS TO BE CORRECTED NOTICED IT FROM DAY 1 . IT HAS ONLY 600 MILES ON IT SO FAR AND I AM SCARED TO DRIVE IT! GOING TO THE DEALER 10/15

  17. Suspension, Oct 10, 2018

FRONT TRACK BAR WELDS ARE OF POOR QUALITY, POROUS, LACK OF PENETRATION AND NOT CONTINUOUS AS A WELD SHOULD BE. WELDS APPREAR AS UNSAFE WELDS FOR HOLDING THE TRACK BAR IN PLACE WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE. ALL OTHER WELDS ON VEHICLE HAVE RUST SHOWING ON LEADING EDGES AND ALSO LACK OF PENETRATION ON WELDS THOUGHT OUT THE WELD BEAD. VEHICLE IS GARAGE KEPT WITH 195 TOTAL MILES.

JEEP HAS BAD WELDS THROUGHOUT THE FRAME POSING SIGNIFICANT SAFETY RISK NOT ONLY WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE BUT EVEN MORE SO IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH. A LARGE MAJORITY OF BAD WELDS ARE IN STRUCTURAL AREAS. SOME ARE OFF SEAM, POROSE WELDS, WELDS THAT APPEAR TO HAVE LITTLE TO NO PENETRATION, WELD JOINTS WITH LITTLE TO NO WELD MATERIAL IN THE JOINT AND OFF SEAM. ALSO MANY OF THE WELDS SHOW SINES OF HEAVY CONTAMINATION IN THE WELD MATERIAL.*DT*JB

VEHICLE IS IMPOSSIBLE TO KEEP ON THE ROAD. STEERING HAS SO MUCH PLAY I HAVE ALMOST STRUCK THE GUARD RAILS AND/OR OTHER ADJACENT VEHICLES. ESPECIALLY ACUTE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. FCA HAS REFUSED TO ADMIT A SEVERE SAFETY ISSUE EXISTS DESPITE THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS ON BLOGS AND ONLINE FORUMS. THERE IS 1 - 2 INCHES OR MORE OF PLAY IN STEERING THAT REQUIRES FATIGUING ATTENTION WHILE DRIVING TO KEEP THE VEHICLE IN ITS LANE. SHOCKING FCA HAS NOT HAD A RECALL DESPITE ONLINE POSTS WITH FIXES / ADJUSTMENTS TO THE STEERING BOX THAT HAVE SOLVED THE ISSUE. DEALERS REFUSE TO MAKE THE ADJUSTMENT BECAUSE IT I NOT AUTHORIZED BY FCA. PLEASE GET INVOLVED BEFORE SERIOUS ACCIDENTS OCCUR. I JUST SAW A RECALL WAS ISSUED FOR STEERING ON THIS MODEL DUE TO POOR FACTORY WELDS TO THE TRACK BAR. THIS IS A SEPARATE BUT STILL SERIOUS SAFETY CONTROL ISSUE. THIS HAPPENS (NOTICEABLE) TRAVELING ABOVE 30 MILES PER HOUR. FCA IS IN DENIAL -HELP!!! THEY WILL NOT MAKE THE ADJUSTMENT AT THE DEALER.

  23. Steering, Oct 8, 2018

AFTER PURCHASING MY JEEP RUBICON I NOTICE THAT THE VEHICLE STEERING WANDERED ON THE HIGHWAY. I WAS NOT ABLE TO KEEP THE VEHICLE STRAIGHT WITHOUT IT WANDERING FROM SIDE TO SIDE. TO MUCH PLAY IN THE STEERING WHEEL. I HAD LESS THAN 100 MILES. I SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE JEEP DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT INSPECTED. THE JEEP WAS INSPECTED AND I WAS TOLD THEY FOUND NO PROBLEM WITH IT, HOWEVER I DID SOME RESEARCH AND SOON LEARNED THAT OTHERS HAD BEEN EXPERIENCING THE THE SAME PROBLEM. TO FIX IT ONE OWNER TOOK HIS IN TO HIS DEALER AND THEY MADE AN ADJUSTMENT IN THE STEERING TO A ( -8 ) AND IT WENT AWAY, BUT IT MADE HIS STEERING HARDER TO TURN.

  24. Structure, Oct 8, 2018

VERY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE WITH THE MAJORITY OF ALL WELDS THAT CONNECT PARTS/FRAME/BODY. THEY ARE EXTREMELY POROUS WHICH WILL CAUSE THE WELDS TO FAIL OVER TIME DUE TO RUSTING FROM THE INSIDE OUT, SOME ARE VERY VERY THIN WHICH WILL CAUSE FAILURE JUST FROM EVERY DAY USE, AND SOME ARE NOT EVEN CONNECTING THE PART TO THE FRAME/BODY WHICH WILL CAUSE DEADLY FAILURE WHEN THE PART COMES OFF FROM SHEARING. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN THIS VEHICLE, AND THIS IS THE ONLY MODE OF TRANSPORTATION I HAVE. I HAVE A 3 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WHO ALSO HAS TO RIDE IN THIS VEHICLE. IT IS NOT OKAY THAT OUR LIVES ARE BEING PUT AT RISK ANY TIME WE HAVE TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE WITH KNOWING THESE WELDS COULD FAIL AT ANY TIME. I HAVE CONTACTED SEVERAL FCA REPS, AND THE DEALERSHIP AND HAVE BEEN TOLD THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. I HAVE MULTIPLE, MULTIPLE PICTURES OF THESE WELDS, HOWEVER I WILL ATTACH A FEW TO THIS SO YOU CAN GET AN IDEA. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE, AND IT SHOULD NOT REQUIRE SOMEONE DYING BEFORE ANYTHING GETS DONE ABOUT THIS. *BF..... UPDATED 10/30/18*JB

I HAVE NOT HAD AN ISSUE WITH THE FAULTY TRACK BAR WELD AS OF YET, BUT I AM ABSOLUTELY NOT DRIVING UNTIL A FIX/REPLACEMENT HAS OCCURRED. I HAVE 3 CHILDREN AND I HAVE TO THINK ABOUT THEIR SAFETY AND MINE. I CANNOT IMAGINE HOW THIS PROBLEM CAN BE SATISFACTORILY FIXED. OBVIOUSLY CANNOT PUT A BAND AID ON IT
