Air bags, frontal, driver side, inflator moduleMar 10, 2021
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2007-2011 Ranger, 2006-2012 Fusion, Lincoln Zephyr, Lincoln MKZ, 2006-2011 Mercury Milan, 2007-2010 Ford Edge, and Lincoln MKX vehicles. The driver's side air bag inflator may explode due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to high absolute humidity, high temperatures, and high temperature cycling.
An inflator explosion may result in sharp metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants, resulting in serious injury or death.
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the driver-side airbag inflator or module with an alternate one, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on April 9, 2021 for the passenger side, and November 14, 2022 for the driver side. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Service brakes, hydraulic, antilock/traction control/electronic limited slip, control unit/moduleDec 18, 2019
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2006-2010 Ford Fusion, Mercury Milan, Lincoln Zephyr and MKZ vehicles. The valves within the ABS Hydraulic Control Units (HCU) may react with brake fluids containing specific corrosion preventative additives. This reaction may cause the valves to not close properly.
If the valves do not properly close, additional brake pedal travel may be required to stop the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will flush the brake system with DOT 4 fluid and install a new brake fluid reservoir cap. In addition, the HCU will be tested to detect a possible stuck valve condition, replacing the HCU as necessary. All services will be performed free of charge. The recall began April 1, 2021. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 19S54.

Air bags, frontal, passenger side, inflator moduleNov 1, 2018
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2010 Ford Fusion, Mercury Milan and 2010-2012 Lincoln MKZ vehicles that previously received a replacement passenger air bag under recall 16V-384, 17V-024 or 18V-046. In the event of a crash requiring deployment of the passenger air bag, the bracket that secures the air bag inflator to the module housing may deform, allowing the gas that inflates the air bag to leak out.
If the air bag does not inflate as intended, there is an increased risk of injury in the event of a crash.
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the passenger air bag module, free of charge. The recall began November 21, 2018. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 18S34.

Fuel system, gasoline, storage, auxillary tankNov 24, 2015
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2010-2011 Ford Fusion vehicles manufactured July 21, 2008, to March 4, 2011, and 2010-2011 Mercury Milan vehicles manufactured July 23, 2008, to December 10, 2010. The affected vehicles have fuel vapor canisters whose purge valves may not operate properly resulting in abnormal pressure changes in the fuel tank.
The pressure changes may cause the tank to crack and leak fuel. A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source increases the risk of a fire.
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will update the vehicle powertrain control modules and inspect the vehicle for any diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) for this issue and perform a leak test on the Canister Purge Valve (CPV). The fuel tank will be inspected for cracks. The CPV and fuel tank will be replaced as necessary. These repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began on January 15, 2016. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 15S34.

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain all weather driver side accessory floor mats sold for use in model year 2006-2011 Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan, 2006 Lincoln Zephyr, and 2007-2011 Lincoln MKZ vehicles manufactured November 9, 2007, through October 31, 2010. The affected floor mats may move and possibly interfere with the accelerator pedal.
The floor mat could shift such that it could interfere with the accelerator pedal, preventing its return to an idle position, which could result in unintended vehicle speeds, increasing the risk of a crash.
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will install new replacement mats, free of charge. The recall began in July 2014. Owners may contact Ford's customer service at 1-800-392-3673. Ford's number for this recall is 14S07. NOTE: Vehicles built after October 31, 2010, while potentially equipped with the same floor mats, are equipped with a Brake Over Accelerator (BOA) feature that prevents simultaneous accelerator and brake application, allowing the vehicle to be safely stopped by pressing firmly and steadily on the brake pedal.

MY PURCHASED MY CAR WITH 25 MILES ON IT IN 2010 AND THE FIRST TIME WAS IN 2013 JAN, WITH ABOUT 35000 MILES ON IT WHEN I WAS IN HEAVY BATON ROUGE TRAFFIC PULLING ONTO THE STREET AND MY CAR LOST POWER AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. THE WRENCH LIGHT APPEARED, I MANAGED TO PULL BACK OFF THE ROAD AND TURNED THE CAR OFF. AFTER LOOKING IN MY MANUAL I SAW THAT IT COULD POSSIBLE BE A THROTTLE PROBLEM. I STARTED THE CAR BACK UP AND IT DROVE NORMALLY. I HAD FORD DEALERSHIP INSPECT THE VEHICLE WHICH THEY SAID IT DIDN'T APPEAR TO HAVE ANY PROBLEM. HOWEVER I AM REGISTERING A COMPLAINT BECAUSE I THOUGHT I WAS PURCHASING A RELIABLE VEHICLE. LOSING POWER IS A VERY SERIOUS PROBLEM AND COULD CAUSE ACCIDENTS. FORD PLEASE RECALL. WHY SHOULD THE CUSTOMER BE RESPONSIBLE FOR A DEFECTIVE PART, WHY IS FORD NOT STANDING BEHIND IT QUALITY VEHICLES? *TR

TRAVELING ON I-40 EAST OF NASHVILLE THE ENGINE QUIT AND THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON. I ALMOST GOT REAR ENDED TRYING TO GET OFF THE INTERSTATE. THIS IS THE 8TH TIME IN 14 DAYS THIS HAS HAPPENED. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE FORD DEALER AND THEY "CLEANED THE THROTTLE BODY", THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED 13 DAYS AGO. I LIMPED THE CAR OFF OF I-40 TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP IN MT. JULIET, TN. THEY DIAGNOSED A THROTTLE BODY FAILURE AND SAID THE CAR COMPUTER COULD NOT TELL THE POSITION OF THE THROTTLE AND SHUT THE ENGINE TO IDLE. VERY DANGEROUS, ESPECIALLY AT SPEED ON A MULTI LANE HIGHWAY. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE TO FORD. THIS WILL INJURE OR KILL PEOPLE SOMEDAY IF IT HAS NOT ALREADY HAPPENED. *TR

DRIVING HOME FROM WORK GOING ABOUT 60 MPH AND THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON UNEXPECTEDLY AND MY CAR STOPPED TAKING ANY GAS. THE THROTTLE STOPPED WORKING COMPLETELY AND I JUST BARELY MADE IT TO THE SHOULDER BEFORE MY CAR STOPPED COMPLETELY ON A BUSY HIGHWAY. WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE NO ONE WAS THERE TO LOOK AT IT BECAUSE IT WAS ABOUT 6PM. WENT BACK THE NEXT DAY AND WAS TOLD IT'S THE THROTTLE BODY AND IT WOULD BE ORDERED ON MONDAY. I RECEIVED A CALL MONDAY MORNING STATING THE PIECE WOULD BE IN THE NEXT EVENING AND TO DROP MY CAR OFF WEDNESDAY. I TAKE MY CAR BACK ON WEDNESDAY MORNING AND HAVE SOMEONE AT MY WORK PICK ME UP. THEY FAILED TO TELL ME THIS BEFORE LEAVING BUT THE PIECE IS ON BACK ORDER AND THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHEN IT WILL COME IN TO BE FIXED... AFTER I WAS ALREADY AT WORK! WHAT POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE! NOW I HAVE TO DRIVE A CAR THAT COULD FAIL AND STOP ACCELERATING AT ANY MOMENT BECAUSE FORD DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO TAKE CARE OF THEIR CUSTOMERS PROPERLY. THIS PART SHOULD BE RECALLED IF THIS MANY PEOPLE ARE HAVING ISSUES THAT THE PART IS ON BACK ORDER AND YOU HAVE PEOPLE DRIVING WITH VEHICLES THAT COULD JUST STOP WORKING AT ANY TIME AND ANY SPEED. I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AT 45 MPH AND THE ENGINE STALLED. IT WAS VERY DANGEROUS BUT I DID NOT GET INTO AN ACCIDENT. I WAITED A FEW MINUTES AND STARTED THE CAR BACK UP AND IT WORKED FINE FOR ABOUT TWO MILES AND DID THE SAME THING AGAIN. I FOUND OUT THROUGH FORD THAT IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY AND EVEN THE DEALERSHIP ADMITTED IT WAS BECOMING A BIG PROBLEM. THE PART IS BACK ORDERED FOR A MONTH AND IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. FORD SHOULD ADMIT THE PROBLEM AND RECALL THE PART BEFORE SOMEONE GETS REALLY HURT. *TR

VEHICLE HAD NO THROTTLE RESPONSE, AND HAD TO COAST TO A STOP. INCIDENT HAPPENED MANY TIMES PRIOR TO THE DATE SHOWN, BUT DID NOT HAVE SPECIFIC DATE AND MILEAGE. IN CONDUCTING WEB RESEARCH, THE PROBLEM IS ENDEMIC WITH MANY FORD PRODUCTION YEARS AND MODELS, AND FORD HAS THUS FAR REFUSED TO ISSUE A RECALL, OR TO PROVIDE ANY OUT-OF-WARRANTY RELIEF. ACCORDING TO MY RESEARCH, THE PART INVOLVED IS A "THROTTLE BODY," AND THERE HAVE BEEN AT LEAST 9,000 COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION SINCE THE CAR RANDOMLY STOPS, AND THE ONLY KNOWN REMEDY IS TO STOP THE CAR, WAIT A TIME, AND THEN RESTART IT. TO THE BEST I CAN FIND OUT, THE THROTTLE BODY IS PART OF THE POWER TRAIN, WHICH IS WHY THAT DESCRIPTION WAS CHOSEN'. *TR

WAS DRIVING MY 2010 FORD FUSION TO DROP CHILD OFF AT SCHOOL. CAR STARTED LUNGING FORWARD AND THEN WANTING TO DIE. FINALLY GOT IT INTO A PARKING SPACE AFTER SEVERAL RESTARTS AND DIES. TOWED TO FORD DEALER, SAID IT WAS A MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR. COST $404.05. TWO DAYS LATER, DIED IN VERY BUSY INTERSECTION. TOWED AGAIN. NOW IT IS THE THROTTLE BODY. WAS TOLD, LIKE EVERYONE ELSE, THAT PART IS ON NATIONAL BACK ORDER. 1200 JUST MADE AND SENT TO PACKAGING CO. MAY OR MAY NOT GET ONE OF THE PARTS. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL ISSUE. I COULD HAVE BEEN HURT VERY BADLY IN THIS INTERSECTION AND DEPENDING ON WHERE ONE IS WHEN THIS HAPPENS, THEY COULD END UP GETTING HIT HARD ENOUGH THAT IT MAY KILL THEM. *TR

THIS HAS BEEN A RECURRING PROBLEM FOR SOME TIME AND ON JUNE 2ND IT HAPPENED TO ME 9 TIMES DURING A 20 MILE TRIP. WHILE TRAVELING DOWN THE ROAD, DOESN'T MATTER WHAT SPEED/ACCELERATING/DECELERATING, THE WRENCH LIGHT WILL COME ON AND I WILL LOSE ALL THROTTLE CONTROL. I HAVE TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND WHEN I DO THE VEHICLE SHAKES VICIOUSLY. TURN THE CAR OFF, THEN BACK ON AND IT STARTS WITH A SLUGGISH START. THE VEHICLE WILL RUN FOR A LITTLE BIT THEN REPEAT THIS CYCLE. THE THROTTLE BODY IS THE PROBLEM AND IT IS ON NATIONAL BACKORDER! THIS NEEDS TO BE A RECALL IMMEDIATELY BECAUSE I CAN EASILY SEE SOMEONE MAKING A LEFT TURN LOOSE THE THROTTLE AND GET HIT BY ON ONCOMING VEHICLE. *TR

I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE AND MY CAR STARTED TO SLOW DOWN AND I COULDN'T ACCELERATE. PULLED OVER AND RESTARTED THE CAR AND IT DROVE IT HOME. THE NEXT DAY THE SAME THING HAPPENED AS I WAS PULLED OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY BUT CUTTING IT OFF AND BACK ON NO LONGER FIXED THE PROBLEM. IT IS CURRENTLY AT A FORD DEALERSHIP THE THROTTLE BODY IS HAVING TO BE REPLACED. THE PART IS ON NATIONAL BACKORDER. SO I DEFINITELY THINK THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM THAT SHOULD BE RECALLED SO EVERYONE KNOWS TO HAVE IT FIXED. AND WE SHOULDN'T HAVE TO PAY HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS TO HAVE SOMETHING FIXED THAT WAS FAULTY TO BEGIN WITH. *TR

THE SERVICE MANAGER AT MY DEALERSHIP SAID THAT AN ENGINEER AT FORD TOLD HIM THAT IT WAS A FAULTY COMPONENT IN THE STEERING RACK FOR THIS MODEL CAR. (STILL NO RECALL?) I GOT MY CAR BACK AFTER ANOTHER WEEK AND DROVE FOR ABOUT 250 MILES IN A TOTAL OF 4 DAYS WHEN THE WARNING LIGHT CAME BACK ON. I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED AGAIN. ALL IN ALL, I HAVE OVER 3000 INVESTED IN THIS REPAIR. HAVE HAD MY CAR TOWED 3 TIMES IN 3 WEEKS. I AM SCARED TO PUT MY TODDLER IN THIS CAR. *TR

AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE AND BEGINNING TO ACCELERATE, AT APPROXIMATELY 20 MILES PER HOUR THE ENGINE LOST RPM, WOULD NOT RESPOND TO ACCELERATION ATTEMPTS AND CAUSED THE CAR TO STALL. AN ENGINE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. REPEATED RESTARTS OF THE ENGINE MET WITH LOW RPM AND SURGING ENGINE CONDITIONS WHICH WOULD NOT "SETTLE DOWN" BEFORE THE ENGINE STALLED AGAIN. AFTER LEAVING THE ENGINE OFF FOR ABOUT 30 MINUTES, I WAS FINALLY ABLE TO SUCCESSFULLY RESTART THE VEHICLE AND CAUTIOUSLY DRIVE IT TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP (FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING AND REPAIR THE NEXT BUSINESS DAY - TOMORROW, JUNE 3RD). THIS IS THE SECOND OCCURRENCE OF THIS PROBLEM WHICH PREVIOUSLY OCCURRED ON FEBRUARY 19, 2013. [SEE NHTSA ODI REFERENCE NUMBER 10500133]. *TR

MY WIFE WAS DRIVING HER 2010 FORD FUSION SEL AWD AT ABOUT 30 MPH. THE CAR SUDDENLY LOST ACCELERATION AND THE YELLOW WRENCH APPEARED ALONG WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. SHE TURNED THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTED IT. THE SYMPTOMS DISAPPEARED AND THE CAR RAN NORMALLY. HOWEVER, WITHIN A FEW MILES IT HAPPENED AGAIN. I CHECKED THE DTC WITH MY SCANNER AND GOT BOTH P2111 AND P2112. BOTH ARE RELATED TO THE THROTTLE BODY. FORD IS BACK ORDERED ON THIS PART AND THE CAR IS NOT DRIVE ABLE WITHOUT IT. IF THE PROBLEM HAD HAPPENED AT A HIGHER RATE OF SPEED OR IN TRAFFIC, IT WOULD HAVE BEEN A DANGEROUS SITUATION. *TR

WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE CAR LOSS ALL POWER AND THE TRANSMISSION BEGAN TO VIBRATE EXCESSIVELY IN A JERKING MOTION WITH AN ILLUMINATION OF THE WRENCH SYMBOL. THE WARNING INDICATOR REMAINED ILLUMINATED UNTIL THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF. THE FAILURE OCCURRED NINE TIMES AT VARIOUS SPEEDS WHILE TRYING TO GET HOME. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON REMAINED ON ONCE WE ARRIVED HOME. CAR HAS BEEN AT FORD DEALER FOR TWO WEEKS NOW WAITING ON A FUEL BODY THROTTLE WHICH IS APPARENTLY ON BACK ORDER NATIONWIDE. WHY THERE IS NOT A RECALL ON THIS VERY DANGEROUS MECHANICAL ISSUE IS BEYOND ME! *TR
