  6. Fuel system, gasoline, storage, auxillary tankNov 24, 2015

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2010-2011 Ford Fusion vehicles manufactured July 21, 2008, to March 4, 2011, and 2010-2011 Mercury Milan vehicles manufactured July 23, 2008, to December 10, 2010. The affected vehicles have fuel vapor canisters whose purge valves may not operate properly resulting in abnormal pressure changes in the fuel tank.

The pressure changes may cause the tank to crack and leak fuel. A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source increases the risk of a fire.

Ford will notify owners, and dealers will update the vehicle powertrain control modules and inspect the vehicle for any diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) for this issue and perform a leak test on the Canister Purge Valve (CPV). The fuel tank will be inspected for cracks. The CPV and fuel tank will be replaced as necessary. These repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began on January 15, 2016. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 15S34.

  7. Steering, electric power assist systemJun 2, 2015

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2011-2012 Ford Fusion vehicles without a 3.5L engine and Lincoln MKZ hybrid electric vehicles, 2011 Mercury Milan vehicles, 2011-2012 Ford Taurus, Ford Flex, Lincoln MKS, and Lincoln MKT vehicles equipped with a 3.5L GTDI engine and 2013 Ford Taurus, Ford Flex, Lincoln MKS, and Lincoln MKT vehicles equipped with any available engine. The affected vehicles have electric power steering assist systems that may shut down as a result of a steering motor sensor fault.

If the vehicle experiences a loss of power steering assist, extra steering effort will be required at lower speeds, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash.

Ford will notify owners, and dealers will check the Power Steering Control Module (PSCM) for Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC). If dealers find any loss of steering assist DTCs, the steering gear will be replaced, free of charge. If, no codes are found during the PSCM inspection, the PSCM software will be updated, free of charge. The recall began on July 21, 2015. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. 8. EquipmentMay 29, 2014

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain all weather driver side accessory floor mats sold for use in model year 2006-2011 Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan, 2006 Lincoln Zephyr, and 2007-2011 Lincoln MKZ vehicles manufactured November 9, 2007, through October 31, 2010. The affected floor mats may move and possibly interfere with the accelerator pedal.

The floor mat could shift such that it could interfere with the accelerator pedal, preventing its return to an idle position, which could result in unintended vehicle speeds, increasing the risk of a crash.

Ford will notify owners, and dealers will install new replacement mats, free of charge. The recall began in July 2014. Owners may contact Ford's customer service at 1-800-392-3673. Ford's number for this recall is 14S07. NOTE: Vehicles built after October 31, 2010, while potentially equipped with the same floor mats, are equipped with a Brake Over Accelerator (BOA) feature that prevents simultaneous accelerator and brake application, allowing the vehicle to be safely stopped by pressing firmly and steadily on the brake pedal.

  9. Wheels, lugs/nuts/bolts/studsDec 7, 2011

FORD IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2010-2011 FORD FUSION AND MERCURY MILAN VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH 17 INCH STEEL WHEELS AND BUILT FROM APRIL 1, 2009, THROUGH APRIL 30, 2009, AND FROM DECEMBER 1, 2009, THROUGH NOVEMBER 13, 2010. THE WHEEL STUDS MAY FRACTURE, POTENTIALLY CAUSING A WHEEL TO SEPARATE.

WHILE DRIVING, MULTIPLE STUD FRACTURES COULD OCCUR AT THE WHEEL LOCATION, AND THE OPERATOR MAY EXPERIENCE VEHICLE VIBRATION AND/OR WHEEL SEPARATION, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.

FORD WILL NOTIFY OWNERS, AND DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE REAR BRAKE DISC SURFACE FOR FLATNESS AND REPLACE THE DISCS AS NECESSARY. ADDITIONALLY, THE WHEEL LUG NUTS WILL BE REPLACED ON ALL FOUR WHEELS. THE SAFETY RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN ON OR ABOUT JANUARY 24, 2012. OWNERS MAY CONTACT THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIP CENTER AT 1-866-436-7332.

  3. Air bags, Sep 7, 2016

TAKATA RECALL TWO MONTHS AGO, I RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE INDICATING INFLATION OF THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG COULD CAUSE SEVERE INJURY OR DEATH. NEITHER FORD NOR NHTSA HAVE ACTED IN A RESPONSIBLE MANNER IN THAT FORD IS STILL WAITING FOR PARTS AND CANNOT ESTIMATE WHEN PARTS WILL BE AVAILABLE. CONSIDERING INFLATION CAN CAUSE "SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH", THERE IS NO HONEST GUIDANCE BY EITHER FORD NOR NHTSA OTHER THAN KEEP DRIVING. I INTEND TO COPY THIS TO MY TWO SENATORS AND MY HOUSE REPRESENTATIVE.

I HAD TO PROCEED TO UNLOCK THE DOOR MANUALLY AND ROLL THE WINDOW DOWN, PLACE MY ARM OUT THE WINDOW TO OPEN THE DOOR FROM THE OUTSIDE. THE PASSENGER HAD TO DO THE SAME FOR THEIR DOOR AS WELL. WE ARE BOTH SENIOR CITIZENS WITH DISABILITIES. ARE THERE ANY RECALLS ON THIS ISSUE? I'M CONCERNED FOR THE SAFETY AND WELL BEING OF ME AND ANY PASSENGERS THAT HAPPEN TO BE IN THE VEHICLE IN THE CASE OF AN ACCIDENT WHERE AS I HAVE TO EXIT THE VEHICLE IN AN EMERGENCY.

I WAS DRIVING MY 2011 FORD FUSION, AND MY VEHICLE LOCKS UP ALMOST CAUSING ME TO RECK! I HAD TO SLAM ON BREAKS. AFTER GETTING THE VEHICLE UNDER CONTROL I CALLED B & B FORD'S TO LET THEM KNOW WHAT'S GOING ON. I ENDED UP HAVING MY VEHICLE TOWED TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP. THE FORD DEALERSHIP MENTION THE POWER WAS MY RACK AND PINION HAD TO BE REPLACE BECAUSE IT WAS CAUSING PROBLEMS WITH MY POWER STEERING, WHICH COST ME $1650.51. SINCE HAVING THE POWER STEERING FIXED, I BEEN TO THE DEALERSHIP OVER 5 TIMES FOR THE SAME PROBLEMS AND BEEN HAVING TO PAY THEM OVER AND OVER! SOMETHING THE B & B FORD SAID THEY FIXED THE FIRST TIME I GAVE THEM 1650.51

I AM HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH MY 2011 FUSION AS THE RECALL FOR THE 13'S AND 14'S DOOR LATCH RECALL. THIS JUST STARTED TODAY 8/16/2016, IF YOU TRY TO CLOSE THE PASSENGER DOOR NORMAL IT BOUNCES BACK AT YOU AND WILL NOT LATCH. IF YOU CLOSE IT VERY GENTLY IT LATCHES BUT DOESN'T SEEM TO BE VERY SOLID. THIS HAPPENED AS MY WIFE WAS PICKING UP OUR CHILD FROM SCHOOL. WHEN SHE WENT TO CLOSE THE DOOR IT JUST BOUNCED RIGHT BACK OPEN AT HER. PICTURES WOULD NOT DO MUCH GOOD IN THIS CASE AS THEY WOULD BE OF A DOOR EITHER OPEN OR CLOSED BUT I AM GOING TO TAKE A VIDEO OF WHAT IT IS DOING IF YOU WOULD BE INTERESTED IN VIEWING IT.

I TURN THE ENGINE COMPLETELY OFF FOR ABOUT T 1 MINUTE AND THEN RESTART MY CAR. I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY MAKE IT HOME. ON MY GRANDCHILDREN FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL, WHILE PICKING UP AT 1 OF 3 SCHOOLS ON THE WAY TO THE SECOND SCHOOL MY CAR DECELERATED JUST BEFORE A TRAIN TRACK DURING RUSH HOUR ONCE AGAIN. THIS TIME MY ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON THE DASH. FOLLOWING THE SAME TECHNIQUE I RESTARTED MY CAR, MADE IT ACROSS THE TRACK ONLY FOR IT TO QUIT AGAIN. 19. Structure, Aug 14, 2016

ON 16 JULY 2016. THE 2011 FORD FUSION WAS IN PARK AND THE IGNITION WAS OFF. WHEN THE DRIVER OF THE VEHICLE ATTEMPTED TO OPEN THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR TO EXIT THE VEHICLE, THE MECHANISM FOR THE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE BROKE, MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO EXIT THE VEHICLE DIRECTLY FROM THE INSIDE ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. THE OUTSIDE DOOR HANDLE WAS STILL FUNCTIONAL, SUCH THAT THE WINDOW COULD BE ROLLED DOWN WITH AUXILIARY POWER OR THE ENGINE RUNNING AND THE DOOR OPENED FROM THE OUTSIDE THROUGH THE WINDOW USING THE OUTSIDE DOOR HANDLE. THIS THEN REQUIRED ROLLING UP THE WINDOW AND TURNING OFF THE POWER/ENGINE TO FULLY EXIT THE VEHICLE. ALTERNATIVELY, A PASSENGER EXITING THE VEHICLE PRIOR TO THE DRIVER COULD ALSO OPEN THE DOOR FROM THE OUTSIDE TO ALLOW THE DRIVER TO EXIT; HOWEVER, ALL DOORS SHOULD BE OPERABLE FROM THE INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE WITHOUT POWER OR ASSISTANCE IN ORDER TO ALLOW EXIT FROM THE VEHICLE IN AN EMERGENCY SITUATION. PART #6E5Z*5422601*A (DRIVER INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE) WAS REPLACED ON 18 JULY 2016.
