Recalls and investigations

  1. Power train, manual transmissionJun 9, 2026

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2015-2018 Focus and 2013-2016 Fusion vehicles previously repaired incorrectly under recall numbers 18V169 and 18V845. The clutch may fracture, resulting in damage to the transmission assembly and possibly a transmission fluid leak.

A transmission fluid leak in the presence of an ignition source such as hot engine or exhaust components can increase the risk of a fire.

Dealers will update the software, free of charge. Additionally, dealers will inspect Focus vehicles and replace the clutch assembly as necessary, free of charge. Interim letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed August 5, 2026. Additional letters will be sent once the remedy is available. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 26S43. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will become searchable on NHTSA.gov on July 6,2026.

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2011-2014 Fiesta, 2013-2014 Fusion, 2015 Mustang, 2013-2015 Escape and C-Max, 2012-2015 Focus, 2014-2016 Transit Connect, 2013-2014 Lincoln MKZ, and 2015 MKC vehicles. These vehicles were previously recalled and repaired under recalls 15V-246, 16V-643 or 17V-210, however the repair may not have been completed properly. A component within the door latches may break making the doors difficult to latch and/or leading the driver or a passenger to believe a door is securely closed when, in fact, it is not.

A door that is not securely latched could open while the vehicle is in motion, increasing the risk of injury to a vehicle occupant.

Ford will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the latch date codes to confirm if the repair was done correctly, and replace the side door latches if necessary, free of charge. Owners will also have the option to inspect their own vehicle's door latches and enter the date codes into a website to determine if the latches are correct. Owner notification letters were mailed on July 27, 2020. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 20S30.

  18. Engine and engine coolingDec 3, 2012

This is an update to a recently announced recall. Ford is recalling certain model year 2013 Escape vehicles manufactured from October 5, 2011, through November 26, 2012, equipped with 1.6L engines, as well as certain model year 2013 Fusion vehicles manufactured from February 3, 2012, through November 29, 2012, equipped with 1.6L engines. Coolant system leaks may cause the engines to overheat and leak flammable engine fluids.

If flammable engine fluids come in contact with the vehicle’s hot exhaust system, a vehicle fire could occur.

Ford will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the engine for coolant system leaks and reprogram the vehicle’s powertrain control module and instrument cluster with an updated calibration and overheat strategy software. There will be no charge to owners for this service. Owners were recently notified to contact dealers to arrange for alternative transportation as Ford developed a remedy. Owners will be shortly receiving notifications to contact Ford dealers to schedule the free remedy repair. Owners may contact Ford Motor Company Customer Relationship Center at 1-866-436-7332.

  19. Exterior lighting, headlightsNov 30, 2012

Ford is recalling certain model year 2013 Fusion vehicles, manufactured from February 3, 2012, through October 20, 2012, for failing to conform to the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment." The affected vehicles may not have had the low beam headlamp projector coating properly cured during its manufacturing process.

An improperly cured projector coating will become hazy through operation, over time, reducing the brightness of the low-beam lamp. This may decrease driver visibility and increase the risk of a vehicle crash.

Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the headlamp assembly. The recall began on December 18, 2012. Owners may contact Ford Motor Company Customer Relationship Center at 1-866-436-7332.

THE ENGINE ISSUE:VEHICLE INTERMITTENTLY STALLS WHILE BACKING, AND DRIVING. THE ELECTRICAL THROTTLE BODY WAS SUBJECT TO A FORD ' CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM 13N03', THAT PROGRAM HAS NOW EXPIRED, AND ANY VEHICLES WITH THE NOW MALFUNCTIONING THROTTLE BODY WILL RECEIVE NO WARRANTY, OR COMPENSATION FOR REPAIR COSTS. WHEN THE VEHICLE STALLS WHILE DRIVING, ESPECIALLY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, THIS PRESENTS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION. THE STEERING ISSUE: TWO RECALLS WERE ISSUED FROM FORD REGARDING THIS ISSUE. FORD 13S06, NHTSA 13V232000 FORD 15S14, NHTSA 15V250000 OUR VEHICLE WA NOT SUBJECT TO THE FIRST RECALL, BUT WAS SUBJECT TO THE SECOND. THE RECALL WORK WAS PERFORMED BY THE ORIGINAL OWNER ON MAY 15, 2015, THE VEHICLE HAD APPROXIMATELY 30,000 MILES AT THAT TIME. THE DEALER INSPECTED THE STEERING GEAR MOTOR FOR MOUNTING BOLT CORROSION. THE BOLTS WERE APPARENTLY FOUND TO ALL BE INTACT, AND A SIMPLE 'ANTI RUST WAX' WAS APPLIED TO THE BOLTS. PER FORDS DIRECTIVE, IF ANY OF THE MOUNTING BOLTS WERE MISSING/BROKEN, A COMPLETELY NEW STEERING GEAR ASSEMBLY WAS TO BE INSTALLED. WE PURCHASED THE CAR IN THE SUMMER OF 2017, WITH 55,500 MILES ON IT. AT JUST OVER 60,000 MILES, THE POWER STEERING FAILED WHILE DRIVING. THIS IS MY 16 YEAR OLD DAUGHTERS CAR, AND ALL THESE MECHANICAL ISSUES HAVE OCCURRED WHEN SHE IS BEHIND THE WHEEL. THE INTERMITTENT STALLING, AND MOST RECENTLY THE COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER STEERING THANKFULLY DID NOT RESULT IN ACCIDENT OR INJURY. FORTUNATELY SHE WAS DRIVING IN A 30 MPH ZONE WHEN THE STEERING FAILED, AND WAS ABLE TO ALLOW THE CAR TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. SHE WOULD HAVE NOT BEEN PHYSICALLY ABLE TO TURN THE VEHICLE, UNDER OTHER CIRCUMSTANCES. OUR LOCAL FORD DEALER ADVISED THAT FORD WOULD NOT ASSIST IN THE STEERING REPAIR. A SUBSEQUENT FOLLOW UP WITH FORD DIRECTLY VERIFIED SAME. BOTH OF THESE ISSUES SHOULD BE SUBJECT TO A SAFETY RECALL.

  9. Engine, Jan 29, 2018, fire

WAS DRIVING HOME WHEN A FELLOW DRIVER NOTICED I HAD FLAMES COMING FROM UNDER MY ENGINE. I PULLED OVER AND DIDN'T SEE ANY FLAMES SO I LIFTED THE HOOD AND THERE WAS A SMALL FIRE COMING FROM THE ENGINE. THE FIRE WENT OUT ON ITSELF BUT I WAS STUCK ON THE INTERSTATE AND DIDN'T FEEL SAFE SO I MOVED VEHICLE TO SAFE SPOT. A FRIEND OF MINE SAID THAT IT WAS WEIRD FOR A CAR TO CATCH ON FIRE LIKE THAT SO HE SAID CHECK RECALL FOR VEHICLE. I CHECKED AND THE RECALL STATED THAT A FIRE COULD OCCUR IF THESE SPECIFIC THINGS OCCURRED. CAR WAS TOWED TO FORD DEALERSHIP AND VERIFIED OF RECALL. WAITING ON DIAGNOSIS NOW.

  10. Engine, Jan 26, 2018

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FUSION. WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT PARKED THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED ANTI-FREEZE AND OIL HAD LEAKED ONTO THE GROUND. THE CONTACT'S DAUGHTER INFORMED HER OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V209000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO NORTH GATE FORD (8940 COLERAIN AVE, CINCINNATI, OH 45251) AND THEN TOWED TO WOODY SANDER FORD (235 W MITCHELL AVE, CINCINNATI, OH 45232, (513) 541-5586) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. WHILE DRIVING, THE CONTACT HEARD THE RADIATOR BOILING AND A POPPING SOUND. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE RADIATOR OVERHEATED AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. AS A RESULT, THE POWER STEERING BECAME DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE STEERING WAS DESIGNED TO SHUT DOWN TO PREVENT ENGINE FAILURE. THE COOLANT SYSTEM AND ENGINE WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN BACK TO WOODY SANDER FORD WHERE THE DEALER STATED THAT NO RECALLS WERE ASSOCIATED WITH THE VIN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000.

ON DECEMBER 24, 2017, I STARTED MY CAR AFTER TAKING MY OLDEST SON TO GET HIS HAIRCUT, WHEN MY FORD FUSION STARTED TO JERK, LOSE POWER, AND STEERING LOCKED WHEN WE ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE AWAY FROM THE PARKING LOT. I WAS REALLY DISAPPOINTED THAT MY CAR, AT SUCH A YOUNG AGE, STARTED TO ACT UP, BUT SOMEWHAT GRATEFUL IT HAPPENED PRIOR TO LEAVING TOWN ON DECEMBER 26TH. MY CAR HAS BEEN AT THE DEALERSHIP SINCE DECEMBER 26TH, AND I WAS FINALLY INFORMED OF THE HEFTY COST OF THE REPAIRS THIS WEEK (25 DAYS LATER), FOR A NEW TRANSMISSION. AS YOU MAY UNDERSTAND, THIS IS VERY DISCOURAGING BECAUSE I ONLY NEED NINE MORE PAYMENTS TO PAY OFF THE CAR AND DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THE TRANSMISSION SUDDENLY GIVES OUT AND THE STEERING TEMPORARILY LOCKS BEFORE PAYING OFF THE CAR. I'M PERPLEXED BY THE DENIAL FROM THE FORD MANUFACTURE COMPANY TO ASSIST IN THIS MATTER SINCE THIS IS A TRANSMISSION PRODUCT ISSUE. PLEASE EXPLAIN, BECAUSE I HAVE SEVERAL CONCERNS: IS THIS THE TYPICAL SHELF LIFE OF A 2013 FORD FUSION TRANSMISSION? IF NOT, THEN IT WOULD APPEAR TO BE A MANUFACTURE DEFECT. IF SO, THEN THE TRANSMISSION AND PRODUCT OF THIS MAKE AND MODEL IS NOT OF GOOD QUALITY. IS THE DAMAGE FROM A CRACKED TRANSMISSION OR THE GEARS ARE DEFAULTING TO 5TH GEAR OR BOTH? WE WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE YOU LOOKING INTO THIS MATTER AND ASSIST WITH PAYING THE COSTS OF THE TRANSMISSION MALFUNCTION. WHAT OTHER SOLUTIONS OR RECOMMENDATIONS DO YOU HAVE AVAILABLE?

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FUSION. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE FRONT SEAT PASSENGER NOTICED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR WAS NOT SECURE. AFTER STOPPING THE VEHICLE, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE DOOR WOULD NOT REMAIN SHUT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER (HIXSON FORD, 2506 S. MACARTHUR DR, ALEXANDRIA, LA) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE DOOR LATCH WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. ALL FOUR DOOR LATCHES WERE REPLACED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V210000(LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES). THE CONTACT RECENTLY DISCOVERED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER'S DOOR EXPERIENCED THE SAME FAILURE LISTED IN THE RECALL AND AFTER THE REMEDY REPAIR HAD BEEN PERFORMED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.

I NOTICED SEVERAL SOUNDS COMING FROM MY VEHICLE AT HIWAY SPEEDS AND DURING ACCELERATION. TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY FOUND AN ISSUE WITH THE INTERNAL BEARING IN THE TRANSMISSION. SINCE IT'S A HYBRID TRANSMISSION, THEY SAID THEY NEED TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION INSTEAD OF THE BEARING. THEY ORDERED PARTS AND WERE GETTING READY TO FIX UNDER WARRANTY AND THEN THEY REALIZED MY CAR WAS BRANDED TITLE AND SAID I WOULD HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET $5,750. I DECLINED THE REPAIR TO GET SECOND OPINIONS AND TO CONTACT FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE TO SEE IF THERE WAS ANYTHING ELSE THEY CAN DO. THEY SAID I'D HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET. AFTER DOING SOME MORE RESEARCH I FOUND THAT MY PROBLEM IS A KNOWN PROBLEM AND IT AFFECTS 2013-2014 FUSION AND C-MAX VEHICLES. MY CAR IS ONLY AT 50K MILES, I SHOULD NOT BE HAVING TRANSMISSION ISSUES. PLEASE HAVE FORD RELEASE RECALL NOTICES TO 2013-2014 FUSION AND C-MAX VEHICLES. FORD NEEDS TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR FAULTY TRANSMISSION BEARINGS AND THEY SHOULD FIX THE PROBLEM FREE OF CHARGE JUST LIKE ANY OTHER RECALL THAT FORD HAS SENT OUT (NOT LOOKING AT THE VEHICLE TITLE). AT THE END OF THE DAY, THE DEALERSHIP HAD MY CAR FOR 2 DAYS, FOUND THE PROBLEM, CHARGED ME $225 TO TELL ME THAT I NEED TO PAY $5,750 TO FIX A KNOWN PROBLEM.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FUSION. DURING WEATHER CHANGES, THE ELECTRONIC VENT FUNCTION FAILED TO WORK EACH YEAR. THE DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC REPLACED THE PIG WIRING, RESISTOR, AND BLOWER MOTOR FOUR TIMES, BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE WINDSHIELD FAILED TO DEFROST, THE VENT CONTROLS FAILED TO FUNCTION FOR THE HEAT, AND THE CONTACT HAD A LOSS OF VISIBILITY AND ELECTRONIC FUNCTION TO WARM THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000. *TT *TR

THIS 2013 FORD FUSION HAS BEGUN RANDOMLY SPUTTERING AND THEN STALLING WHEN ACCELERATING (THE VEHICLE HAS 95,000 MILES ON IT). YOU CAN PUT IT IN PARK AND RESTART IT JUST FINE, BUT THEN MAY DO IT AGAIN IN 30 SECOND OR NEVER AGAIN THE REST OF THE TRIP. IT DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE AN ISSUE IF THE CAR IS COLD OR HAS BEEN SITTING A LONG TIME. IT TENDS TO APPEAR ONCE YOU STOP FOR 10-20 MINUTES AND GET BACK IN THE VEHICLE - BUT EVEN THEN, CAN BE HIT AND MISS. LATELY IN THIS SCENARIO IT'S BEEN STALLING 2 TO 3 TIMES BEFORE RUNNING FINE. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH, THIS APPEARS TO BE A RECOGNIZED FORD ISSUE WITH THE THROTTLE BODY. WHILE FORD APPEARS TO RECOGNIZE THIS ISSUE AND HAS EXTENDED THE WARRANTY ON SOME 2013 FORD FUSIONS (UNDER CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM 13N03), I CALLED MY LOCAL DEALER AND THEY INDICATED THAT MY VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THAT PROGRAM. THE COST OF THE REPAIR WAS QUOTED AT $875 PLUS TAX OF WHICH ONLY $120 WAS LABOR - THIS MAKES THE PART $755. I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT FORD IS NOT ADDRESSING THIS ACROSS THE ENTIRE LINE. I HAVE ALREADY BEEN IN MULTIPLE PLACES WHERE I HAVE HAD TRAFFIC COMING AT ME OR BEHIND ME WHEN THE VEHICLE FAILS. IN FACT, THE OTHER DAY IT DIED PULLING OUT OF A STORE IN FRONT OF TWO ONCOMING LANES OF TRAFFIC - FORTUNATELY BOTH VEHICLES COMING DIRECTLY AT MY DRIVERS SIDE WERE ABLE TO GET THEIR VEHICLES STOPPED BEFORE T-BONING ME. PLEASE REQUIRE FORD TO EXPAND ITS PROGRAM.

STARED VEHICLE UP, PARKED AT AN IDLE EPAS (ELECTRIC POWER STEERING) FAILED SENDING A MESSAGE ACROSS THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AND MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO DRIVE AS THE STEERING WAS INCREDIBLY DIFFICULT TO TURN. SET CODE C200B FOR STEERING SHAFT TORQUE SENSOR WHICH IS THE SAME FAULT THAT THE PREVIOUS FUSION MODEL HAD A RECALL FOR. REPLACED ENTIRE STEERING RACK DUE TO MALFUNCTIONING SENSOR.

2013 FORD FUSION LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES:DOORS:LATCH NHTSA CAMPAIGN #15V246000. MY FRONT RIGHT DOOR FAILED TO CLOSE ON 09/27/2017 AND MY RIGHT REAR DOOR FAILED ON 12/21/2017. BOTH TIMES THE CAR WAS STOPPED, IN A PARKING LOT AND FAILED, ONE WHEN EXITING THE CAR AND THE OTHER WHEN ENTERING. I HAD TO USE A BUNGEE CORD THROUGH THE REAR WIDOW WHEN THE FRONT DOOR FAILED AND USE THE CHILD RESTRAINT HOOKS WHEN THE REAR DOOR FAILED. EACH TIME I WAS APPROXIMATELY 100 MILES FROM THE DEALERSHIP IN MY HOME AREA. EACH TIME IT TOOK 3 TO 4 DAYS TO BE REPAIRED. THE DEALER (ERNEST MCCARTY) CHARGED FOR BOTH REPAIRS AS MY VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL NOTICE REFERENCED ABOVE. ADDITIONALLY, FORD WAS OF NO HELP, DID NOT RESPOND TO MY INQUIRIES AND THEIR DECISIONS AS THEY SAID THEY WOULD. THEY ALSO APPEARED UNCONCERNED FOR MY PROBLEMS.

I BOUGHT MY CAR AUGUST 6TH,2016 WITH ROUGHLY 40000 MILES FROM AUTO NATION FORD DEALER . NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEMS UNTIL SEPTEMBER 2017 . I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND MY CAR GAVE ME A MESSAGE THAT MY ENGINE WAS RUNNING HOT AND TO STOP IMMEDIATELY. I DID AND OPENED THE HOOD AND REALIZED THERE WAS A COOLANT LEAK AND IT WAS SMOKING . I HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALER TO FIX AND THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE HEATER HOSE AND SAID THEY RAN TEST TO MAKE SURE THEIR WAS NO MORE LEAKS AND EVERYTHING LOOKED GOOD. I HAD TO PAY OUT OF POCKET BECAUSE THEY SAID MY MANUFACTURE NOR EXTENDED WOULD COVER IT. I DIDN'T HAVE ANY MORE PROBLEMS AGAIN UNTIL DECEMBER 29TH 2017 (APPROXIMATELY 2 1/2 MONTHS LATER). I WAS RIDING DOWN THE ROAD AGAIN AND MY CAR GAVE ME THE SAME MESSAGE AND I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER AGAIN BUT THIS TIME IT WAS ON FIRE. I CALLED MY INSURANCE COMPANY IMMEDIATELY AND THE FIRE DEPARTMENT HAD TO PUT OUT MY CAR. I BARELY HAD TIME TO PULL OVER FROM THE TIME MY CAR ALERTED ME TO WHEN IT CAUGHT FIRE. THE NEXT BUSINESS DAY WHEN I SPOKE TO MY ADJUSTER SHE TOLD ME ABOUT THE RECALL FOR THE ENGINE FIRES DUE TO COOLANT LEAKS ON MY CAR THAT WAS ISSUED IN MAR 2017 . I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED OR TOLD AND I WAS EVEN AT THE DEALERSHIP WITH THE PREVIOUS INCIDENT JUST A FEW MONTHS PRIOR. I CHECKED MY COOLANT REGULAR AND ALL MY OTHER FLUIDS. IT NEVER GAVE ME ANY MESSAGES EITHER TIME UNTIL I HAD TO PULL OVER IMMEDIATELY AND THE 2ND TIME IT WAS ON FIRE ALREADY BEFORE THE CAR EVEN NOTIFIED ME. NOW MY INSURANCE SAYS THEY WON'T HELP ME BECAUSE MY COMPREHENSIVE COVERAGE DON'T COVER MECHANICAL AND AFTER THE ADJUSTER WENT AND LOOKED AT MY VEHICLE, SHE CLAIMS THAT IT'S FORDS RESPONSIBILITY DUE TO THE RECALL. I HAVE RENTAL THROUGH FORD BUT NOW THEY SAID THEY HAVE TO WAIT FOR AN INSPECTOR TO LOOK AT MY CAR BEFORE THEY CAN ISSUE ME A RENTAL AND IT COULD BE A WHILE. * (RECALL RELATED INCIDENT) TS

THE CONTACT'S BROTHER-IN-LAW DROVE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER (DEACON JONES FORD-LINCOLN, 3301 MCLAIN ST, GOLDSBORO, NC 27534) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING GEAR ASSEMBLY, THE FOUR BOLTS AND NUTS FROM THE STEERING, AND THE POWER STEERING BOX NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AT 866-436-7332 AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE CONTACT WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 46,223.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FUSION. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE INCREASED AND THE VEHICLE OVERHEATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SANTOS FORD (617 W PACHECO BLVD, LOS BANOS, CA 93635), BUT THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE FOR THE REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V209000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE PART NEEDED FOR THE REPAIR WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE FOR THE REPAIR. REVERSING THE CAR OUT OF MY GARAGE I NOTICED THE STEERING WHEEL WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN AND THE "STEERING ASSIST FAULT" MESSAGE CAME UP ON THE DASH. CAR IS STILL DRIVEABLE, BUT VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN STEERING WHEEL AT LOW SPEEDS. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE FORD DEALER. THEY SAY THEY CARRIED OUT THE RECALL AFFECTING THE STEERING SAFETY BOLTS FROM 2015 (15S14) AND THAT THIS IS A NEW PROBLEM. THEY SAY I NEED A NEW STEERING GEAR/RACK. IT LOOKS LIKE A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE. I'M LUCKY I WAS JUST REVERSING OUT OF MY GARAGE AND NOT DRIVING AT SPEED WHEN THE STEERING ASSIST FAILED. THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN VERY DANGEROUS.
